IELTS Writing & Speaking Focus Plan
Duration: 3–4 weeks · Daily time: 2 h · Target: writing/speaking +0.5 to +1.0
Who this plan is for
Your input skills already clear the bar; writing and speaking decide your result. This plan keeps listening/reading warm with minimal volume and puts every spare minute into output.
The one principle
Output skills only improve by producing: speak daily and record it; outline daily; study band-calibrated samples for structure, not phrases to memorize. Examiners can smell a memorized script in ten seconds.
The route
Tick tasks as you complete them — progress is saved on this device.
Phase 1 — Daily Production (Weeks 1–2)
Speak every day; outline every day; read samples at your target band and reverse-engineer the structure.
Move on when: 2-minute cue card without freezing; a Task 2 outline (position + 2 ideas + example) in 5 minutes.
Every day
Practice answering 3 current speaking topics out loud — record yourself once→
20 minmust-do
Outline one current writing question: position, two main ideas, one example. 10 minutes, no full essay→

Maintenance: one listening section OR one reading passage→

Within the phase

Daily anchors
Morning: Answer one Part 1 question out loud while making coffee. Fluency is a morning muscle.
Before bed: Re-listen to one of your own speaking recordings; note one thing to fix tomorrow.
Weekly self-review
- Are you producing daily — or slipping back into input-only comfort?
- Do your answers sound like you, or like a template?
A plan is a route, not a promise — no schedule can guarantee a band score. Adjust volumes to your reality and keep the output work.
