Đề bài (cue card)

Describe an interesting video that you watched on the internet.

You should say:

  • when and where you watched the video
  • what this video was about
  • how you found out about this video
  • and explain why you thought this video was interesting.

Band 6.5

The 6.5 answer stays plain and direct throughout, e.g. 'She makes the little rice cakes so fast', giving one clear reason for the interest (speed and skill) without reaching for more varied phrasing.Bài mẫu band 6.5 giữ giọng văn đơn giản, trực tiếp xuyên suốt, ví dụ như 'Cô ấy làm bánh nếp nhỏ nhanh thật đấy', chỉ đưa ra một lý do rõ ràng cho sự thú vị (tốc độ và tay nghề) mà không cố gắng dùng cách diễn đạt đa dạng hơn.

The video I want to talk about is a short clip of an old woman making bánh bèo at a stall near Han Market. I watched it on my phone one Saturday night, at home in my apartment, after I finished work.

The video was about her hands. She makes the little rice cakes so fast, filling each tiny bowl, steaming them, and topping them with shrimp and crispy pork skin, one after another without stopping. It only lasts about two minutes, but you can watch her make maybe thirty cakes in that time.

I found out about it because my friend Khoa sent it to me on Zalo. He knows I like watching cooking videos, and he said it reminded him of my uncle's restaurant kitchen in Hue.

I thought it was interesting mainly because of her speed and skill. She has clearly made these cakes for many years, and her hands move without her even looking. I also liked that there was no music or talking, just the sounds of the kitchen. It made me want to visit that stall myself, and it made me appreciate how much practice is behind something that looks so simple.

  • FCI thought it was interesting mainly because of her speed and skill. The sentence answers the cue card's implicit 'why did you find it interesting' with a single reason stated plainly ('her speed and skill'), rather than building toward it through a more developed chain of observation and reflection. It comes right after the factual description of the video, so the structure is straightforwardly sequential — description, then one-line reason — rather than interweaving evaluation throughout, which a 7.0 answer would be more likely to do.
  • LRso fast'So fast' relies on the most basic intensifying structure in English ('so' plus adjective) rather than a more specific or vivid alternative — a 7.0 or 7.5 answer describing the same rapid cake-making might reach for something more precise. It's immediately followed by concrete supporting detail (filling bowls, steaming, topping, thirty cakes in two minutes), so the plain intensifier is backed up by evidence rather than needing to carry the description on its own.
  • GRAIt only lasts about two minutes, but you can watch her make maybe thirty cakes in that time. Two clauses are joined with the single coordinator 'but' to set up a simple contrast (short video, surprising amount of output), with the second person 'you' used generically rather than a more formal impersonal construction. This is a clear, correct way to make the contrast, but it doesn't attempt subordination or a more varied sentence opening, which is what a 7.0 answer covering the same fact would likely add. It matches the 6.5 grammar target precisely — accurate, simple coordination rather than structural risk-taking.
Band 7.0

The 7.0 answer adds natural spoken hedges like 'honestly, quite calming' and a reflective closing thought, sitting comfortably between the plain 6.5 description and the more literary 7.5 structures.Bài mẫu band 7.0 thêm vào những cách rào đón tự nhiên trong văn nói như 'thành thật mà nói, khá là dễ chịu' và một suy nghĩ khép lại mang tính chiêm nghiệm, nằm ở mức vừa phải giữa lối miêu tả đơn giản của band 6.5 và các cấu trúc giàu chất văn chương hơn của band 7.5.

The video I want to talk about was about twenty minutes long and showed a man repairing an old, rusty typewriter from the 1960s, with no talking and no music at all. I ended up watching the whole thing without stopping, which surprised me.

I watched it on a rainy evening last November, sitting on my balcony in Da Nang. I only planned to watch a few minutes before bed, but I got completely caught up in it and stayed up much later than I meant to.

The video was basically about fixing something that looked beyond saving. The typewriter arrived covered in rust, with keys that wouldn't move at all. The man, and you never actually see his face, took the whole machine apart piece by piece, cleaned everything by hand, and then slowly put it back together. Right at the end, he loaded a sheet of paper and typed one line, and the letters came out perfectly clean and sharp.

I found out about the video because my friend Đức sent it to me with a short message saying it reminded him of me, which I took as a compliment. Apparently there's a whole category of videos like this online, and somehow people watch them for ages.

What made it interesting to me was mainly the patience the man showed. Nothing was rushed and nothing was skipped, even though cleaning one tiny screw must have taken several minutes on its own. Since I work with screens all day, watching someone build something slowly with his hands felt unusual and, honestly, quite calming. When the typewriter finally worked at the end, I felt strangely proud of him, even though I'd never met him. I've been thinking about buying an old typewriter myself ever since.

  • LRcaught up in it'Caught up in it' is a natural collocation for becoming absorbed in something, used here about a silent video rather than, say, a conversation or a book, which shows the phrase being applied flexibly rather than in its most predictable context. This kind of comfortably idiomatic-leaning phrasing, without reaching for anything more marked, is the Band 7.0 lexical resource target — a step beyond a plain phrase like 'I got really interested in it'.'Caught up in it' là một sự kết hợp từ tự nhiên để diễn tả việc trở nên đắm chìm vào điều gì đó, được dùng ở đây về một video câm thay vì, chẳng hạn, một cuộc trò chuyện hay một cuốn sách, cho thấy cụm từ này được áp dụng linh hoạt thay vì trong bối cảnh dễ đoán nhất của nó. Kiểu diễn đạt thoải mái, có xu hướng mang tính thành ngữ này, mà không vươn tới điều gì nổi bật hơn, chính là mục tiêu tài nguyên từ vựng Band 7.0 -- một bước tiến so với một cụm từ đơn giản như 'I got really interested in it'.
  • FCWhat made it interesting to me was mainly the patience the man showed.'What made it interesting to me was mainly the patience the man showed' uses a wh-cleft to directly answer the implied cue-card question (why was it interesting?) while also singling out one specific quality — patience — rather than a vague 'it was cool'. Structuring the answer's key point this way, and then supporting it with the concrete detail about cleaning 'one tiny screw', is the reason-plus-example development pattern the Band 7.0 descriptor specifically asks for.'What made it interesting to me was mainly the patience the man showed' dùng một câu chẻ dạng wh để trả lời trực tiếp câu hỏi ngầm định trên thẻ gợi ý (tại sao điều đó thú vị?) đồng thời cũng chỉ ra một phẩm chất cụ thể -- sự kiên nhẫn -- thay vì một câu nói mơ hồ 'it was cool'. Việc cấu trúc điểm chính của câu trả lời theo cách này, rồi hỗ trợ nó bằng chi tiết cụ thể về việc lau chùi 'one tiny screw', chính là mô hình phát triển lý do-cộng-ví dụ mà tiêu chí Band 7.0 yêu cầu cụ thể.
  • GRASince I work with screens all day, watching someone build something slowly with his hands felt unusual and, honestly, quite calming.A longer complex sentence combining a reason clause with a reflective comment, accurate and fluent but without the more marked structures of Band 7.5.Một câu phức dài hơn kết hợp mệnh đề chỉ lý do với một nhận xét mang tính suy ngẫm, chính xác và trôi chảy nhưng chưa có những cấu trúc nổi bật hơn như ở band 7.5.
Band 7.5

The 7.5 answer uses a mid-sentence dash interruption ('The man — you never see his face, only his hands —') and an understated, ironic closing ('I've since bought a typewriter. It doesn't work yet.') that mark genuinely higher-level control.Bài mẫu band 7.5 sử dụng dấu gạch ngang chen vào giữa câu ('Người đàn ông đó — bạn không bao giờ thấy mặt anh ta, chỉ thấy đôi tay —') và một câu kết nhẹ nhàng, hơi mỉa mai ('Từ đó tôi đã mua một chiếc máy đánh chữ. Nó vẫn chưa chạy được.'), cho thấy khả năng kiểm soát ngôn ngữ ở trình độ cao thực sự.

The video I'd describe is forty minutes long, has no talking and no music, and shows one man restoring a rusted typewriter from the 1960s — and I watched every second of it.

When and where I watched it was a rainy evening last November, on my balcony in Da Nang, with the monsoon coming down and nothing to do. I'd meant to watch ten minutes before bed and I was still there at midnight.

What it was about, on the surface, is repair. The typewriter arrives as a block of rust with keys that don't move. The man — you never see his face, only his hands — takes it apart completely, hundreds of pieces laid out in rows, cleans each one with brushes, acid baths and cloth, repaints the body, and reassembles it. In the last minute he loads a sheet of paper and types one line, and the letters come out clean and black. That's the whole film.

How I found it was Đức, who sent it with the message 'this is you', which I chose to take as a compliment. It's one of a whole genre of restoration videos that seem to have millions of viewers, none of whom, I suspect, have ever restored anything.

Why I found it interesting is partly professional — I care about letters, and a machine that makes them is beautiful to me — but mostly it was the patience. Nothing was skipped. Every screw was cleaned as carefully as the body. The man never rushed, never explained, never asked me to subscribe, and the silence made me watch the way I'd watch someone working in the next room. I've made things for screens for ten years, and I'd never sat still for forty minutes to watch a thing being made properly. When the first line typed, I felt something I'd normally reserve for the end of a film. I've since bought a typewriter. It doesn't work yet.

  • GRAThe man — you never see his face, only his hands —The dashes interrupt the sentence mid-clause to insert a qualifying detail — that only the man's hands are ever shown — before the sentence has even finished naming its subject. This kind of structural interruption, withholding the main verb until after the parenthetical aside, is a more marked and controlled piece of sentence design than the relative clause ('...whose face you never see') a 7.0 answer would more predictably reach for.Các dấu gạch ngang ngắt câu giữa mệnh đề để chèn vào một chi tiết mang tính giới hạn — rằng chỉ có bàn tay của người đàn ông được thể hiện — trước khi câu thậm chí đã hoàn thành việc gọi tên chủ ngữ của nó. Kiểu ngắt quãng cấu trúc này, trì hoãn động từ chính cho đến sau phần chêm xen, là một thiết kế câu được kiểm soát và đánh dấu rõ nét hơn so với mệnh đề quan hệ ('...whose face you never see') mà một câu trả lời band 7.0 nhiều khả năng sẽ chọn theo cách dễ đoán hơn.
  • LRthe silence made me watch the way I'd watch someone working in the next roomThe comparison built into 'the silence made me watch the way I'd watch someone working in the next room' is genuinely figurative — it's not a fixed idiom but an original simile the speaker constructs to explain an unusual viewing experience, comparing watching a screen to overhearing real, ambient work nearby. Original figurative comparisons like this, built for the specific moment rather than borrowed from stock phrases, are precisely what the Band 7.5 descriptor means by 'one figurative or idiomatic touch if it fits the moment'.Sự so sánh được xây dựng trong 'the silence made me watch the way I'd watch someone working in the next room' thực sự mang tính hình tượng — nó không phải một thành ngữ cố định mà là một phép so sánh nguyên bản mà người nói tự xây dựng để giải thích một trải nghiệm xem phim khác thường, so sánh việc xem màn hình với việc tình cờ nghe thấy công việc thực, xung quanh diễn ra gần đó.
  • FCI've since bought a typewriter. It doesn't work yet.The two short sentences — 'I've since bought a typewriter. It doesn't work yet.' — deliberately underplay what is actually a significant follow-up action, letting the deadpan brevity do the emotional work instead of stating outright how much the video affected the speaker. This kind of understated, ironic closing, trusting the listener to read between the lines, is a more sophisticated reflective move than the more explicit 'this video really inspired me' a 7.0 answer would likely use to close the same story.Hai câu ngắn — 'I've since bought a typewriter. It doesn't work yet.'

  1. 1. What kinds of videos are popular in your country?

    Band 6.5

The 6.5 answer lists concrete examples with plain connectors like 'and' and 'because', keeping every sentence short and direct.Bản 6.5 liệt kê các ví dụ cụ thể bằng những từ nối đơn giản như "and" và "because", giữ cho mỗi câu ngắn gọn và trực tiếp.

Many kinds of videos are popular in my country, and it really depends on the person. My mother watches cooking videos and health tips, and my niece watches dance videos on her phone. Almost everyone watches football highlights too, especially the morning after a big match, because football is extremely popular here. Comedy videos are also popular, and short videos are more common than long ones because they are quick and easy to watch.

    • FCand it really depends on the personThis is a simple linking clause joined with a plain 'and', typical of 6.5 coherence. A 7+ answer would more likely open with a reflective marker like 'honestly' or 'to be fair' instead of stating the point so flatly.Đây là một mệnh đề nối đơn giản bằng "and", điển hình cho sự mạch lạc ở band 6.5.
    • LRextremely popular here'Extremely popular' is a common, safe intensifier rather than a more precise or less common collocation. A higher band would reach for something like 'converges on' or 'enormous' to show wider lexical range."extremely popular" là một cách nhấn mạnh thông dụng, an toàn, chứ không phải một cách kết hợp từ chính xác hoặc ít gặp hơn.
    • GRAComedy videos are also popular, and short videos are more common than long ones because they are quick and easy to watch. This sentence strings two simple clauses together with 'and' and 'because' rather than subordinating them. A 7.5 answer would likely compress this into a single flexible sentence using a participial or fronted structure.Câu này nối hai mệnh đề đơn giản bằng "and" và "because" thay vì đưa chúng vào quan hệ phụ thuộc.
    Band 7.0

The 7.0 answer opens with the natural spoken marker 'Honestly' and adds a mild qualifying remark ('even though longer, quieter content is slowly gaining a following'), showing reflection beyond a flat list.Bản 7.0 mở đầu bằng từ đệm khẩu ngữ tự nhiên "Honestly" và thêm một nhận xét hạn định nhẹ nhàng ("even though longer, quieter content is slowly gaining a following"), thể hiện sự suy ngẫm vượt ra ngoài một danh sách liệt kê bằng phẳng.

Honestly, it depends a lot on who you ask. My mother's feed is full of cooking videos and health advice, while my niece watches dance clips and people reacting to other videos. What unites the whole country, though, is football — the morning after a match, everyone seems to be watching the highlights. To be fair, comedy sketches about family life are huge too, and livestream selling has quietly become massive as well, with someone talking for hours while viewers buy things. If you look at what's actually watched most, short videos clearly dominate, even though longer, quieter content is slowly gaining a following.

    • FCHonestly, it depends a lot on who you ask.Opening with 'Honestly' is a natural spoken discourse marker that signals genuine reflection, something a 6.5 answer rarely does because it tends to state the answer directly. It is more conversational than a 7.5 answer's more compact, less chatty opening.Mở đầu bằng "Honestly" là một từ đệm khẩu ngữ tự nhiên, báo hiệu sự suy ngẫm thật sự, điều mà một bài trả lời band 6.5 hiếm khi làm vì nó thường nêu thẳng câu trả lời.
    • LRWhat unites the whole country'Unites' is a moderately less common verb choice than the plainer 'everyone watches', showing a step up in lexical resource. A 6.5 answer would likely just say 'the whole country watches', while a 7.5 answer might reach for an even less common word like 'converges'."Unites" là một lựa chọn động từ ít thông dụng hơn một chút so với cách nói đơn giản "everyone watches", cho thấy một bước tiến về vốn từ.
    • GRAeven though longer, quieter content is slowly gaining a followingThis concessive clause with 'even though' adds a qualifying remark that a 6.5 answer would not attempt, since it only uses basic connectors like 'because' and 'and'. It is still a single clear clause rather than the more compressed, participial structures a 7.5 answer would use.Mệnh đề nhượng bộ dùng "even though" này thêm vào một nhận xét mang tính hạn định mà một bài trả lời band 6.5 sẽ không thử làm, vì nó chỉ dùng những từ nối cơ bản như "because" và "and".
    Band 7.5

The 7.5 answer uses the less common word 'converges' and a compact participial phrase ('devoured the morning after every match') to pack in more meaning per sentence than the other two bands.Bản 7.5 dùng từ ít gặp hơn "converges", cùng cụm phân từ cô đọng ("devoured the morning after every match") để nhồi nhét nhiều ý nghĩa hơn vào mỗi câu so với hai band điểm còn lại.

It really splits along generational lines. My mother's feed leans toward cooking and health advice of questionable reliability, my niece's toward dance clips and reaction videos, and yet there's one thing the entire country converges on: football highlights, devoured the morning after every match. Beyond that, comedy sketches about family life and regional accents are enormous, and livestream selling — someone talking for hours while viewers buy things — has become the newest giant. Short-form content dominates by sheer volume, though a quieter niche of slow, contemplative videos about village life is finding an audience among homesick city dwellers. And, if my own viewing habits are any indication, restoration videos quietly have a devoted following that nobody likes to admit to.

    • FCIt really splits along generational lines. This short, punchy opening statement immediately frames the whole answer around one idea, a more compact and confident coherence move than the 6.5 answer's flatter opening sentence.
    • LRthe entire country converges on'Converges on' is a genuinely less common collocation than 'everyone watches' or even the 7.0 answer's 'unites', showing precise and slightly idiomatic lexical choice.
    • GRAfootball highlights, devoured the morning after every matchThis is a compressed participial phrase ('devoured...') standing in for a full relative clause like 'which people watch the morning after every match'. Neither the 6.5 nor the 7.0 answer attempts this kind of flexible, compact grammar.Đây là một cụm phân từ được nén lại ("devoured..."), thay cho một mệnh đề quan hệ đầy đủ như "which people watch the morning after every match". Cả bản 6.5 lẫn 7.0 đều không thử dùng loại ngữ pháp linh hoạt, cô đọng này.

The 6.5 answer gives a direct opinion ('No, they usually like different videos') followed by one plain example joined with 'but' and 'while', typical of simple contrast structures at this band.Bản 6.5 đưa ra quan điểm trực tiếp ngay từ đầu ("No, they usually like different videos"), theo sau là một ví dụ đơn giản nối bằng "but" và "while", cấu trúc đối lập đơn giản điển hình ở band điểm này.

No, they usually like different videos. Older people like longer videos with clear information, such as news, cooking, or history. Younger people prefer short, funny videos and they watch quickly. For example, my father and my four-year-old nephew both watched a long fishing video last month, but my father watched it to learn the technique, while my nephew just waited for the fish to splash. So sometimes they watch the same video, but for different reasons.

    • FCNo, they usually like different videos. This is a short, direct position statement placed right at the start, which is characteristic of 6.5 coherence. A 7.0 or 7.5 answer would more likely soften or qualify this opening rather than stating it so bluntly.Đây là một câu phát biểu lập trường ngắn gọn, trực tiếp đặt ngay ở đầu, đặc trưng cho sự mạch lạc ở band 6.5.
    • LROlder people like longer videos with clear information'Clear information' is plain, everyday vocabulary rather than a more precise collocation. A higher band would likely use something like 'clearly structured content' to show a wider lexical range."Clear information" là từ vựng đơn giản, thường ngày, chứ không phải một cách kết hợp chính xác hơn.
    • GRAbut my father watched it to learn the technique, while my nephew just waited for the fish to splashThis sentence joins two contrasting ideas with the simple connectors 'but' and 'while' rather than a more compact structure. A 7.5 answer would likely compress this into a colon-led list with participial phrases instead.Câu này nối hai ý đối lập bằng các từ nối đơn giản "but" và "while" thay vì dùng cấu trúc cô đọng hơn.
    Band 7.0

The 7.0 answer opens with a mild qualifying remark ('although sometimes it overlaps more than you'd expect') and uses the natural spoken phrase 'I'd say', showing reflection beyond a flat yes/no answer.Bản 7.0 mở đầu bằng một nhận xét hạn định nhẹ nhàng ("although sometimes it overlaps more than you'd expect") và dùng cụm khẩu ngữ tự nhiên "I'd say", thể hiện sự suy ngẫm vượt ra ngoài một câu trả lời có/không bằng phẳng.

Not really, although sometimes it overlaps more than you'd expect. Older people tend to go for longer, clearer content — news, cooking, history — while younger people prefer short, fast clips and often watch for the personality rather than the topic. I'd say the clearest example was my father and my four-year-old nephew sitting through the same long fishing video last month: my father was studying the technique, while my nephew was simply waiting for the splash. Older viewers also trust television-style production, whereas younger viewers trust a phone held by someone they follow. Where the generations do meet is football and family comedy.

    • FCalthough sometimes it overlaps more than you'd expectThis concessive clause is a mild qualifying remark that softens the initial 'not really', showing the kind of natural hedging a 6.5 answer typically skips in favour of a flat statement. It stops short of the fully compressed structures a 7.5 answer would use.Mệnh đề nhượng bộ này là một nhận xét hạn định nhẹ nhàng, làm mềm câu "not really" ở đầu, thể hiện kiểu rào đón tự nhiên mà một bài trả lời band 6.5 thường bỏ qua để chọn cách phát biểu bằng phẳng.
    • LRwatch for the personality rather than the topic'Watch for the personality' is a moderately less common phrase than simply saying they 'like funny videos', showing a step up in precision. It is not as idiomatic as the 7.5 answer's 'follow the person as much as the subject'."Watch for the personality" là một cụm từ chính xác hơn một chút so với việc chỉ nói "like funny videos", thể hiện sự tiến bộ về độ chính xác. Nó chưa mang tính thành ngữ bằng cụm "follow the person as much as the subject" ở bản 7.5.
    • GRAmy father was studying the technique, while my nephew was simply waiting for the splashThe colon before this clause and the parallel 'while' construction show a slightly more controlled sentence than the 6.5 version's plain 'but...while' chain. It is still a fairly standard contrast structure rather than the fronted, comma-spliced list the 7.5 answer uses.Dấu hai chấm trước mệnh đề này, cùng cấu trúc song song "while", cho thấy một câu được kiểm soát chặt chẽ hơn chuỗi "but...while" đơn giản của bản 6.5. Đây vẫn là một cấu trúc đối lập khá chuẩn mực, chứ chưa phải danh sách đảo ngữ, nối bằng dấu phẩy mà bản 7.5 sử dụng.
    Band 7.5

The 7.5 answer uses the less common verb 'gravitate' and compresses the fishing-video example into a colon-led list with participial phrases ('one dissecting... the other simply waiting'), packing more contrast into fewer words.Bản 7.5 dùng động từ ít gặp hơn "gravitate", và nén ví dụ về video câu cá thành một danh sách dẫn bằng dấu hai chấm, kèm theo các cụm phân từ ("one dissecting... the other simply waiting"), nhồi nhét nhiều sự đối lập hơn vào ít từ hơn.

Rarely the same videos, and only occasionally the same video for entirely different reasons. Older viewers gravitate toward longer, clearly structured content — news, cooking, history, music from their youth — trusting something that looks like proper production, whereas younger viewers favour short, fast clips and follow the person as much as the subject. Take my father and my four-year-old nephew, both glued to a long fishing video last month: one dissecting the technique, the other simply waiting for the splash. Older viewers trust something resembling proper television production, whereas younger viewers trust a phone held by someone they already follow, which says as much about the medium as the content. Beyond that rare overlap, the formats diverge, the platforms diverge, and only football or family comedy reliably bridges the gap.

I think videos become popular around the world when everyone can understand them without words. For example, a video of someone restoring an old rusty tool doesn't need any language, because people everywhere can understand what is happening. Videos with babies, animals, or amazing skills are also popular because they make people feel something quickly. And once a video becomes popular, more people share it, so it becomes even more popular.

    • GRAAnd once a video becomes popular, more people share it, so it becomes even more popular. This sentence chains two simple clauses with 'so', producing a slightly repetitive, circular structure typical of 6.5 grammar. A higher band would likely use a single verb like 'multiplying' to express the same idea more economically.Câu này nối hai mệnh đề đơn giản bằng "so", tạo ra một cấu trúc hơi lặp lại, vòng vo, đặc trưng cho ngữ pháp band 6.5.
    Band 7.0

The 7.0 answer adds the natural spoken hedge 'To be fair' before a secondary point, and uses one moderately complex sentence structure with a dash to add a contrasting clause about local jokes not travelling.Bản 7.0 thêm từ đệm khẩu ngữ tự nhiên "To be fair" trước khi nêu một điểm phụ, và dùng một câu nối bằng dấu gạch ngang để thêm một mệnh đề đối lập, nói về việc vì sao những câu đùa địa phương lại không thể lan xa như vậy.

Honestly, I think the videos that travel furthest are usually the ones that don't need translation. A silent restoration video, for instance, where someone cleans rust off an old typewriter, works in every language because the visuals speak for themselves — a joke about local family life just wouldn't cross borders the same way. To be fair, other things help too, like a strong emotional hook in the first few seconds, or a format people can easily copy. And once a video starts spreading, the algorithm tends to push it even further.

    Band 7.5

The 7.5 answer opens with a vivid, almost poetic image ('rust and hands and a satisfying, gradual transformation'), uses the less common phrase 'tap into something universal', and closes with a compact evaluative remark about luck.Bản 7.5 mở đầu bằng một hình ảnh sinh động, gần như giàu chất thơ ("rust and hands and a satisfying, gradual transformation"), dùng cụm từ ít gặp hơn "tap into something universal", và khép lại bằng một nhận xét đánh giá cô đọng về may mắn.

The ones that travel furthest usually don't need words at all. A silent restoration clip — rust and hands and a satisfying, gradual transformation — means roughly the same thing in every language, whereas a joke about in-laws simply stays home. Global videos tend to tap into something universal: a baby laughing, an animal doing something unexpected, extraordinary skill, a deeply satisfying process, and crucially, they hook you within the first few seconds. Music helps, and so does a format people can copy, which explains how dance trends spread so fast. After that, the algorithm takes over, multiplying whatever is already being shared — though luck plays its part too.

A surprisingly wide range, and my own year makes a fair sample: a washing-machine repair, a proper knot, passable bread, and the first bar of a song on guitar, all picked up purely from watching videos — though a stubborn typewriter I still haven't managed to fix stands as the counterexample. Videos excel at anything physical you can copy step by step, from cooking to crafts to basic repairs, and they're equally strong for software, where you're essentially watching over someone's shoulder. Where they fall short is anything requiring real-time correction — a teacher spotting your mistake — or tasks where judgement matters more than steps, the kind of nuance no camera can fully transmit.

For fixing my washing machine, the video was much better than the manual, because the manual just described a 'lower panel' and I couldn't find it, but the video showed exactly where it was in two seconds. So for physical tasks, video is more useful. But for cooking, I still prefer written recipes, because I can read at my own speed and quickly check the amount of an ingredient. So both have their uses.

    • FCI think it depends on the task. This short, plain opinion sentence directly answers the question before any elaboration, typical of 6.5 coherence. A 7.0 answer would more likely soften this with a spoken hedge like 'to be honest' attached to the same idea.Câu quan điểm ngắn gọn, đơn giản này trả lời trực tiếp câu hỏi mà không có sự dẫn dắt nào, đặc trưng cho sự mạch lạc ở band 6.5. Bản 7.0 nhiều khả năng sẽ dùng một từ đệm khẩu ngữ như "to be honest" để làm mềm cùng ý đó một chút.
    • LRthe video was much better than the manual'Much better than' is a very plain comparative phrase. A higher band would likely use a more idiomatic expression such as 'seeing simply beats reading' to make the same comparison."Much better than" là một cụm so sánh rất đơn giản.
    • GRASo both have their uses. This short closing sentence with 'so' gives a simple, separate summary rather than integrating the conclusion into a longer sentence. A 7.5 answer would likely fold this idea into a semicolon-joined or colon-led sentence instead.Câu kết ngắn dùng "so" này đưa ra một sự tổng kết đơn giản, độc lập, thay vì hòa kết luận vào một câu dài hơn.
    Band 7.0

The 7.0 answer adds the spoken hedge 'to be honest' and 'That said' as a mild qualifying transition, and uses one more complex sentence joined with 'whereas' and 'while'.Bản 7.0 thêm từ đệm khẩu ngữ "to be honest" và cụm chuyển tiếp "That said", đồng thời dùng một câu phức tạp hơn nối bằng "whereas" và "while" để khép lại.

It really depends on the task, to be honest. The washing-machine manual just described a 'lower access panel' and I couldn't find it anywhere, whereas the video showed a hand opening it in two seconds — for anything spatial like that, seeing clearly beats reading. That said, I still cook from written recipes, because a video runs at its own pace while a page runs at mine, letting me glance back and check a quantity instantly. I'd say text wins for speed and searching, and video wins for the thing you didn't know you needed to see.

    • FCto be honestThis natural spoken hedge softens the direct opinion into something more conversational, which a 6.5 answer typically skips in favour of a flat statement. It is a lighter touch than the fuller reflective closing sentence used in the 7.5 answer.Từ đệm khẩu ngữ tự nhiên này làm mềm quan điểm trực tiếp thành một giọng điệu gần với hội thoại hơn, điều mà một bài trả lời band 6.5 thường bỏ qua để chọn cách phát biểu bằng phẳng.
    • LRseeing clearly beats readingThis is a slightly more vivid, compact comparison than the plain 'much better than' phrasing used at 6.5. It is close to, but slightly less polished than, the 7.5 answer's parallel phrase 'seeing simply beats reading'.Đây là một phép so sánh sinh động, cô đọng hơn một chút so với cách nói đơn giản "much better than" ở bản 6.5, gần nhưng vẫn kém hơn một chút so với cụm tương ứng "seeing simply beats reading" ở bản 7.5.
    • GRAbecause a video runs at its own pace while a page runs at mineThis sentence uses the subordinator 'while' to build a balanced contrast within one clause, a step up from the simple 'but' used at 6.5. It is still a single contrast rather than the three-part list structure the 7.5 answer builds with commas.Câu này dùng liên từ phụ thuộc "while" để xây dựng một sự đối lập cân bằng trong một mệnh đề, tiến bộ hơn "but" đơn giản của bản 6.5.
    Band 7.5

The 7.5 answer uses a semicolon to join two balanced clauses, the less common verb 'excels at', and closes with a compact evaluative remark introduced by a colon.Bản 7.5 dùng dấu chấm phẩy nối hai mệnh đề cân bằng, dùng động từ ít gặp hơn "excels at", và khép lại bằng một nhận xét đánh giá cô đọng, dẫn bằng dấu hai chấm.

It depends heavily on the task at hand. The washing-machine manual merely described a 'lower access panel', which I never located, whereas the video showed a hand opening it in two seconds flat — for anything spatial or physical, seeing simply beats reading. Yet I still cook from written recipes, because a video runs at its own speed while a page runs at mine, letting me glance, check a quantity, and double back whenever I like. Text remains faster to search and easier to skim; video excels at revealing the thing you didn't even know you needed to see. Most effective, honestly, is combining both: watch once for the shape, then read for the details.

    • FCIt depends heavily on the task at hand.Adding 'heavily' and the slightly more formal phrase 'at hand' gives this opening more weight and precision than the plainer 6.5 opening 'I think it depends on the task.' It reads as a confident claim rather than a simple stated opinion.
    • LRvideo excels at revealing the thing you didn't even know you needed to see'Excels at revealing' is a more precise, less common verb choice than the plain comparative phrasing used at 6.5. Nó thể hiện vốn từ sinh động, mang tính thành ngữ mà band 7.5 hướng tới.
    • GRAText remains faster to search and easier to skim; video excels at revealing the thing you didn't even know you needed to see. This sentence uses a semicolon to join two balanced independent clauses into one flexible sentence, rather than splitting them into two separate simple sentences as the 6.5 answer does. Band 6.5

The 6.5 answer gives a direct negative opinion ('I don't think so') followed by a plain example joined with 'and' and 'but', a straightforward structure typical of this band.Bản 6.5 đưa ra một quan điểm phủ định trực tiếp ("I don't think so"), theo sau là một ví dụ đơn giản, nối bằng "and" và "but", một cấu trúc thẳng thắn điển hình ở band điểm này.

I don't think so. Videos can teach the beginning of a skill, but not mastery. For example, I watched a master repair an old typewriter for forty minutes, and I understood every step. But my own typewriter is still in pieces on my table, because understanding the steps is different from actually having the skill in your hands. Videos are good for learning cooking or simple software, but they can't correct your mistakes like a real teacher can.

    • FCI don't think so.This is a bare, direct two-word opinion opening the answer, the simplest possible way to state a position. A 7.0 answer would more likely soften this with 'honestly' before the same negative, and a 7.5 answer would add an evaluative clause right after it.Đây là một quan điểm mở đầu trần trụi, trực tiếp chỉ với hai từ, cách đơn giản nhất để phát biểu lập trường.
    • LRVideos are good for learning cooking or simple software'Good for learning' is plain, everyday phrasing. A higher band would likely use a more vivid description such as calling videos 'a magnificent first teacher' for the same idea."Good for learning" là cách diễn đạt đơn giản, thường ngày.
    • GRAI watched a master repair an old typewriter for forty minutes, and I understood every stepThis sentence joins two clauses with the simple connector 'and' rather than using a more compact participial structure. A 7.5 answer would likely compress this into 'following every step with total clarity' attached to the main clause.Câu này nối hai mệnh đề bằng từ nối đơn giản "and" thay vì dùng cấu trúc phân từ cô đọng hơn.
    Band 7.0

The 7.0 answer opens with 'Honestly' plus a dash-led qualifying clause ('but not all the way'), and uses a 'which' clause to reflect on what the example shows.Bản 7.0 mở đầu bằng "Honestly" cộng thêm một mệnh đề hạn định dẫn bằng dấu gạch ngang ("but not all the way"), và dùng một mệnh đề "which" để suy ngẫm về ý nghĩa mà ví dụ đó mang lại.

Honestly, I don't think so — videos can take you a long way, but not all the way. I once watched a master restore a typewriter for forty minutes and understood every single step, yet my own typewriter is still sitting in pieces on my table, which tells you that understanding the steps and actually having the skill in your hands are two different things. Videos work well for skills with clear steps and quick feedback, like cooking, but they can't fix a wrong grip or a bad habit the way a real teacher could.

    Vì sao đạt band này

    • FCvideos can take you a long way, but not all the wayThis short, balanced contrast right after the opening opinion is a mild qualifying remark that a 6.5 answer typically skips. It is less elaborate than the 7.5 answer's fuller version of the same idea ('carry you a surprisingly long way... can't quite reach').Sự đối lập ngắn gọn, cân bằng ngay sau quan điểm mở đầu này là một nhận xét hạn định nhẹ nhàng mà bản 6.5 thường bỏ qua. Nó chưa đầy đủ bằng cách diễn đạt trọn vẹn hơn của cùng ý đó ở bản 7.5: "carry you a surprisingly long way... can't quite reach".
    • LRunderstood every single stepAdding 'single' to 'every step' is a small but natural intensifying collocation, a step up from the plainer 6.5 phrasing 'understood every step'. It shows slightly more idiomatic control of emphasis.
    • GRAwhich tells you that understanding the steps and actually having the skill in your hands are two different thingsThis non-defining relative clause beginning with 'which' adds a reflective comment onto the sentence, a moderately complex structure beyond the simple 'because' clause used at 6.5. It stops short of the fully compressed apposition ('proof that...') the 7.5 answer uses instead.Mệnh đề quan hệ không xác định bắt đầu bằng "which" này thêm một nhận xét mang tính suy ngẫm vào câu, một cấu trúc phức tạp hơn một chút so với mệnh đề "because" đơn giản của bản 6.5. Nó vẫn chưa cô đọng bằng cấu trúc đồng vị hoàn toàn nén chặt ("proof that...") mà bản 7.5 sử dụng.
    Band 7.5

Honestly, no — videos can carry you a surprisingly long way, but genuine mastery seems to live somewhere they can't quite reach. I once watched a master restore a typewriter for forty minutes, following every step with total clarity, and yet my own typewriter remains in pieces on my table, proof that understanding a process and possessing the skill in your hands are entirely different things. Videos are a magnificent first teacher for anything with clear steps and instant feedback, but a poor last one, since they can't correct a wrong grip, a bad habit, or the subtle misjudgements that only real practice, and a real teacher, can iron out.

Phone videos have changed the news a lot. During the last floods near my home, my neighbour recorded a video from her balcony, and it was on the national news within an hour, before any reporter could even get there. This means ordinary people can now become news sources very quickly.

A 7.5 answer would likely split this into a colon-led list and a separate dash-led list of risks instead.Câu dài này nối một lợi ích và một rủi ro bằng "but" và lặp lại "because" hai lần, tạo ra một cấu trúc hơi lặp lại.
    Band 7.0

The 7.0 answer opens with 'Quite significantly, honestly' and adds the hedge 'To be fair' before balancing a benefit against a risk, showing more reflection than a flat statement.Bản 7.0 mở đầu bằng "Quite significantly, honestly" và thêm từ đệm "To be fair" trước khi cân nhắc một lợi ích và một rủi ro, thể hiện sự suy ngẫm nhiều hơn một phát biểu bằng phẳng.

Quite significantly, honestly, and I've actually seen it happen on my own street. During the last floods, a neighbour's video filmed from her balcony was on the national news within an hour, well before any reporter could reach the area, which shows how phones have turned every citizen into a potential source. To be fair, this brings real benefits, since abuses get recorded and disasters get documented almost instantly, but it also means dramatic footage sometimes gets prioritised over more important, less visual stories. News has become faster and more democratic, if a little less reliable.

    Band 7.5

The 7.5 answer builds one long, flexible sentence with a dash and 'so' to explain the shift in how news arrives, then uses a colon-led list and a dash-led list to separate gains from risks.Bản 7.5 dùng một dấu gạch ngang và một "so" để xây dựng một câu dài, linh hoạt nhằm giải thích sự chuyển biến trong cách tin tức đến với người xem, sau đó dùng một danh sách dẫn bằng dấu hai chấm và một danh sách dẫn bằng dấu gạch ngang để tách riêng lợi ích và rủi ro.

Quite dramatically, and I've watched it unfold on my own street. During the last floods, a neighbour's footage filmed from her balcony was on the national news within the hour, well before any reporter could reach the district — phones have effectively turned every citizen into a potential source, so news now arrives from the middle of events rather than from outside them. That's a genuine gain: abuses get recorded, disasters get documented, official versions get checked against footage. It also reshapes what counts as newsworthy, since a dramatic clip often beats an important document, and it invites real risks — unverified footage, staged clips, and viewers who believe what they see before anyone checks it.

    • FCI think people should trust news videos less than they usually doThis is a plain, direct opinion stated in the very first clause, typical 6.5 structure. A 7.0 answer would more likely open with a spoken hedge like 'honestly, probably less than most people instinctively do' instead of this flat statement.Đây là một quan điểm trực tiếp, xuất hiện ngay trong mệnh đề đầu tiên, đặc trưng cho cấu trúc band 6.5. Bản 7.0 nhiều khả năng sẽ mở đầu bằng một cụm đệm khẩu ngữ như "honestly, probably less than most people instinctively do", thay vì một phát biểu bằng phẳng như vậy.
    • LRa video can look real but still be wrong'Look real' and 'still be wrong' are very plain, everyday word choices. A higher band would likely use a more precise phrase such as 'carries a false sense of proof' to express the same idea."Look real" và "still be wrong" là những lựa chọn từ vựng rất đơn giản, thường ngày.
    • GRASo now I try to check where a video comes from before I believe it.This short closing sentence with 'so' gives a simple, separate conclusion. A 7.5 answer would likely fold this into a semicolon-joined aphorism instead of a plain standalone sentence.Câu kết ngắn dùng "so" này đưa ra một kết luận đơn giản, độc lập.
    Band 7.0

The 7.0 answer opens with 'Honestly' and the natural spoken phrase 'I'd say', and uses a dash to add a contrasting clause about the video's real age, showing more reflection than a flat statement.Bản 7.0 mở đầu bằng "Honestly" và cụm khẩu ngữ tự nhiên "I'd say", đồng thời dùng một dấu gạch ngang để thêm một mệnh đề đối lập về tuổi thật của video, thể hiện sự suy ngẫm nhiều hơn một phát biểu bằng phẳng.

Honestly, probably less than most people instinctively do, simply because a video feels like proof even when it isn't. A clip labelled 'flood in Da Nang tonight' went round my family's group chat last year, and every one of us believed it instantly, since we'd seen it with our own eyes — except it turned out to be three years old and from an entirely different city. I'd say the sensible approach is to trust footage more when the source is known and the date can be checked, and to be suspicious of anything arriving with strong emotion and no clear origin.

    • FCHonestly, probably less than most people instinctively doOpening with 'Honestly' and the hedge 'probably' softens the opinion into something more conversational and reflective, unlike the 6.5 answer's flat 'I think people should trust news videos less'.
    • LRa video feels like proof even when it isn'tThis is a moderately more reflective phrase than the plain 'a video can look real but still be wrong' used at 6.5. It is close to, but slightly less polished than, the 7.5 answer's related phrase 'carries a false sense of proof'.Đây là một cách diễn đạt mang tính suy ngẫm hơn một chút so với cách nói đơn giản "a video can look real but still be wrong" ở bản 6.5. Nó gần nhưng vẫn kém hơn một chút so với cụm "carries a false sense of proof" ở bản 7.5.
    • GRAI'd say the sensible approach is to trust footage more when the source is known and the date can be checked, and to be suspicious of anything arriving with strong emotion and no clear originThis long sentence balances two parallel infinitive clauses ('to trust... and to be suspicious') joined with 'and', a moderately complex structure beyond the simple sentences used at 6.5. It is less compressed than the 7.5 answer's closing aphorism with a semicolon.Câu dài này dùng "and" để cân bằng hai mệnh đề nguyên mẫu song song ("to trust... and to be suspicious"), một cấu trúc phức tạp hơn một chút so với các câu đơn giản của bản 6.5.
    Band 7.5

The 7.5 answer uses the fronted hedge 'if I'm honest', the less common phrase 'carries a false sense of proof', and closes with a semicolon-joined aphorism ('Seeing... is no longer believing; it's merely the starting point for checking').Bản 7.5 dùng từ đệm đảo ngữ "if I'm honest", cụm từ ít gặp hơn "carries a false sense of proof", và khép lại bằng một câu châm ngôn nối bằng dấu chấm phẩy ("Seeing... is no longer believing; it's merely the starting point for checking").

Considerably less than most people instinctively do, if I'm honest, because a video carries a false sense of proof simply by virtue of being seen. A clip labelled 'flood in Da Nang tonight' once swept through my family's group chat, and every single one of us believed it without question, having seen it with our own eyes — only for it to turn out to be three years old and filmed in an entirely different city. The sensible approach, I'd say, is to trust footage more when it comes from a verifiable source and less when it arrives wrapped in strong emotion and no discernible origin. Seeing, these days, is no longer believing; it's merely the starting point for checking.

    • FCif I'm honestThis fronted, comma-set-off hedge tucked mid-sentence is a more compact and natural way of softening an opinion than the fuller opening phrases used at 6.5 and 7.0. It shows confident control of spoken-style qualification.Từ đệm đảo ngữ, được ngăn bằng dấu phẩy, chen vào giữa câu này là một cách làm mềm quan điểm cô đọng và tự nhiên hơn các cụm mở đầu đầy đủ hơn ở bản 6.5 và 7.0. Nó thể hiện sự làm chủ tự tin đối với cách hạn định mang tính khẩu ngữ.
    • LRa video carries a false sense of proof simply by virtue of being seen'Carries a false sense of proof' and 'by virtue of' are precise, slightly less common phrasings compared to the plainer 'a video can look real but still be wrong' used at 6.5. This shows the vivid, idiomatic lexical range expected at 7.5."Carries a false sense of proof" và "by virtue of" là những cách diễn đạt chính xác, ít gặp hơn một chút, so với cách nói đơn giản hơn "a video can look real but still be wrong" ở bản 6.5. Điều này thể hiện vốn từ sinh động, mang tính thành ngữ mà band 7.5 hướng tới.
    • GRASeeing, these days, is no longer believing; it's merely the starting point for checking. This closing sentence uses a semicolon to join two balanced independent clauses into one compact aphorism, rather than the separate simple sentences used at 6.5.
  9. 9. Will the public's appetite for news videos lead to the end of print journalism?

    So sánh Band 6.5 / 7.0 / 7.5 cho câu hỏi này
    Band 6.5

The 6.5 answer gives a direct opinion ('printed newspapers will probably disappear, but written journalism won't') with one plain example and a simple closing summary joined by 'but' and 'so'.Bản 6.5 đưa ra một quan điểm trực tiếp ("printed newspapers will probably disappear, but written journalism won't") cùng một ví dụ đơn giản, và một câu tổng kết đơn giản nối bằng "but" và "so".

I think printed newspapers will probably disappear, but written journalism won't. My father still buys a paper newspaper every morning, but he is one of the only people on our street who still does this. Last week, I read a long, detailed news report on my phone, and it was very well written, with much more detail than a video could give. So video is good for quick news, but writing is still better for deep, detailed stories.

    • FCI think printed newspapers will probably disappear, but written journalism won't.This is a direct opinion sentence stated right at the start with the plain connector 'but', typical of 6.5 coherence. A 7.0 answer would more likely open with the spoken hedge 'honestly' attached to a similar claim.Đây là một câu quan điểm được phát biểu trực tiếp ngay từ đầu bằng từ nối đơn giản "but", đặc trưng cho sự mạch lạc ở band 6.5.
    • LRit was very well written, with much more detail than a video could give'Very well written' is a plain, generic evaluation. A higher band would likely use a more precise phrase such as 'written journalism of the highest calibre' to express the same judgement."Very well written" là một đánh giá đơn giản, chung chung.
    • GRASo video is good for quick news, but writing is still better for deep, detailed stories. This closing sentence uses the simple connectors 'so' and 'but' to state two separate comparisons. A 7.5 answer would likely join these with a semicolon into one balanced sentence instead.Câu kết này dùng các từ nối đơn giản "so" và "but" để phát biểu hai phép so sánh.
    Band 7.0

The 7.0 answer opens with a qualifying structure ('Probably the paper itself, honestly, but not written journalism as a whole') and uses the reflective closing phrase 'I'd say', showing more nuance than a flat yes/no.Bản 7.0 mở đầu bằng một cấu trúc hạn định ("Probably the paper itself, honestly, but not written journalism as a whole") và dùng cụm khép lại mang tính suy ngẫm "I'd say", thể hiện sự tinh tế hơn một phán đoán có/không đơn giản.

Probably the paper itself, honestly, but not written journalism as a whole. My father still buys a physical newspaper every single morning, and he's about the last person on our street who does, yet the long investigative piece I read on my phone last week was written journalism of genuinely high quality, offering a level of detail no video could realistically match. Video clearly wins for immediacy and raw emotion, while writing still wins for depth, argument, and anything that needs to be checked or quoted. What's really ending, I'd say, is the printed object, not the practice of writing itself.

    • FCProbably the paper itself, honestly, but not written journalism as a whole. This opening narrows the claim to a specific part of the question ('the paper itself') rather than answering with a flat general statement, showing more reflection than the 6.5 answer's blanket opinion.
    • LRwritten journalism of genuinely high qualityThis is a moderately more precise evaluative phrase than the plain 'very well written' used at 6.5. It is not quite as vivid as the 7.5 answer's 'journalism of the highest calibre'.Đây là một cụm từ đánh giá chính xác hơn một chút so với cách nói đơn giản "very well written" ở bản 6.5. Nó vẫn chưa sinh động bằng "journalism of the highest calibre" ở bản 7.5.
    • GRAWhat's really ending, I'd say, is the printed object, not the practice of writing itselfThis sentence uses a cleft structure ('What's really ending... is...') with an inserted hedge 'I'd say', a moderately complex construction beyond the simple sentences used at 6.5. It is less compressed than the 7.5 answer's closing sentence, which adds a semicolon and a further clause about reporters.Câu này dùng cấu trúc câu chẻ ("What's really ending... is...") cộng thêm từ đệm chen vào "I'd say", một cấu trúc phức tạp hơn một chút so với các câu đơn giản của bản 6.5.
    Band 7.5

The 7.5 answer uses the vivid phrase 'the last holdout on our street', a semicolon to balance video against writing, and closes with a compact evaluative remark about the business model propping up paper.Bản 7.5 dùng cụm từ sinh động "the last holdout on our street", dùng dấu chấm phẩy để cân bằng video với văn bản, và khép lại bằng một nhận xét đánh giá cô đọng về mô hình kinh doanh đang chống đỡ cho báo giấy.

Probably the printed object itself, but not written journalism as a practice. My father still buys a physical newspaper every morning, the last holdout on our street, and yet the long investigative piece I devoured on my phone last week was written journalism of the highest calibre, carrying a depth of detail no video could ever hope to match. Video wins hands-down for immediacy and raw emotion; writing wins for depth, argument, and anything demanding verification or precise quotation. What's genuinely ending, then, is paper and the business model propping it up — serious reporters will keep writing, and anyone wanting to understand rather than merely glimpse will keep reading them, on whatever screen survives.

    • FCthe last holdout on our streetThis vivid, slightly idiomatic appositive phrase replaces a fuller clause like 'he is one of the only people who still does this', giving the sentence a more compact, evaluative flavour. A 6.5 answer states the same idea in a plainer full clause instead.Cụm từ đồng vị sinh động, hơi mang tính thành ngữ này thay cho một mệnh đề đầy đủ hơn như "he is one of the only people who still does this", mang lại cho câu một sắc thái cô đọng, mang tính đánh giá hơn. Bản 6.5 sẽ diễn đạt cùng ý đó bằng một mệnh đề đầy đủ, đơn giản hơn.
    • LRwritten journalism of the highest calibre'Calibre' is a genuinely less common word than 'quality' or 'well written', showing precise and slightly formal lexical choice. A 6.5 answer would use the much plainer 'very well written' for the same idea."Calibre" là một từ thực sự ít gặp hơn "quality" hay "well written", thể hiện lựa chọn từ vựng chính xác, hơi mang tính trang trọng. Bản 6.5 sẽ dùng cụm đơn giản hơn nhiều "very well written" để diễn đạt cùng ý đó.
    • GRAVideo wins hands-down for immediacy and raw emotion; writing wins for depth, argument, and anything demanding verification or precise quotation. This sentence uses a semicolon to join two balanced independent clauses in parallel structure, rather than splitting them into separate sentences with 'so' and 'but' as the 6.5 answer does.
