Gần nhất ra thi tháng 5–8/2026

Đề bài (cue card)

Describe a situation when you gave advice to someone

You should say:

  • Who you gave the advice to
  • What the advice was
  • Why you gave it
  • And explain how this person felt about the advice you gave

Band 6.5

The reasoning is stated plainly and directly ('I did not want Nam to lose his salary and then struggle with no money coming in'), giving one clear cause without further layering, typical of Band 6.5.Lý do được trình bày trực tiếp và đơn giản ('I did not want Nam to lose his salary and then struggle with no money coming in'), đưa ra một nguyên nhân rõ ràng mà không có thêm lớp lang nào khác, đặc trưng cho Band 6.5.

I want to talk about my colleague Nam, who works with me at the studio in Da Nang. Last year he told me he wanted to quit his job and become a freelance designer.

The advice I gave him was not to quit immediately. I told him to keep his job for a few more months and find one or two freelance clients first, in his free time. Only after he had some regular income from freelancing should he leave the studio completely.

I gave him this advice because I knew freelancing is not easy at the beginning. Clients can be slow to pay, and some months there is very little work. I had heard similar stories from other designers, and I did not want Nam to lose his salary and then struggle with no money coming in.

At first, Nam did not really want to hear this. He was excited and wanted to start his own business right away. He felt a little disappointed with my advice, because he thought I was being too careful. But he thought about it for a few days and decided to try my way.

He worked part-time as a freelancer for six months, and when he finally left the studio, he already had three regular clients. Now he tells everyone that patience was the right choice.

  • GRAI told him to keep his job for a few more months'I told him to keep his job for a few more months' uses a reported-command structure with an infinitive complement, a single accurate pattern rather than one varied among several structures across the answer. This fits the Band 6.5 grammar target of correct but limited range — the sentence works, but it's the most direct way of reporting advice available.'I told him to keep his job for a few more months' sử dụng cấu trúc câu lệnh gián tiếp với bổ ngữ động từ nguyên thể, một kiểu mẫu chính xác duy nhất chứ không phải một kiểu được biến đổi giữa nhiều cấu trúc trong suốt câu trả lời.
  • LRClients can be slow to pay'Clients can be slow to pay' states a business fact plainly, using the common modal 'can be' and the everyday adjective 'slow', without reaching for more specific vocabulary such as 'unreliable payment terms' or 'cash flow gaps'.
  • FChe thought about it for a few days and decided to try my wayThe closing sentence reports two coordinated actions in strict chronological order — thinking about it, then deciding to try the suggestion — with no reflective comment added afterward about how things eventually turned out. Ending on plain narration rather than evaluation is typical of the Band 6.5 fluency target, in contrast to a higher-band answer that would likely add a reflective payoff line.Câu kết thuật lại hai hành động đẳng lập theo đúng trình tự thời gian — suy nghĩ về điều đó, rồi quyết định thử làm theo đề xuất — mà không thêm lời bình luận suy ngẫm nào sau đó về việc mọi thứ cuối cùng diễn ra như thế nào.
Band 7.0

The collocation 'without taking on too much risk at once' and the closing line about Lan's reaction show the answer developing a reason and a concrete outcome fluently, without reaching for unusual phrasing.Cách phối hợp từ 'without taking on too much risk at once' và câu kết về phản ứng của Lan cho thấy câu trả lời đang phát triển một lý do và một kết quả cụ thể một cách trôi chảy, mà không cần dùng đến cách diễn đạt lạ.

I want to talk about a conversation I had with my friend Lan about eight months ago, when she told me she was planning to quit her office job to open a small coffee shop.

The advice I gave her was not to quit straight away, but to test the idea first. I suggested she try selling coffee part-time at weekends, maybe from a small stall or even just to colleagues, before giving up a steady income completely. That way, she could find out whether people actually liked what she made and whether the business idea worked, without taking on too much risk at once.

I gave her this advice because I'd seen a few friends open shops that closed within a year, usually because they hadn't really tested the market beforehand. Lan is a great cook, but running a coffee shop involves a lot more than that — things like rent, staff, and finding the right location — and I didn't want her to lose all her savings if it didn't work out.

At first, Lan wasn't very keen on the idea. She'd already pictured herself as the owner of her own shop and felt that starting small was a step backwards. She told me I was being overly cautious and that she needed to commit fully to make it succeed. Still, she thought it over for a couple of weeks and decided to give my suggestion a try.

She sold coffee at weekend markets for about four months, built up a small group of regular customers, and only then left her job to open the shop properly. It's doing well so far, and she now jokes that my caution saved her from a disaster.

  • LRwithout taking on too much risk at once'Without taking on too much risk at once' uses the natural collocation 'taking on risk', adding financial precision to the advice about testing a business idea before committing to it fully. This is the single natural collocation the Band 7.0 lexical target asks for — accurate and topic-appropriate without being unusual.'Without taking on too much risk at once' sử dụng cụm cố định tự nhiên 'taking on risk', thêm sự chính xác về mặt tài chính vào lời khuyên về việc thử nghiệm một ý tưởng kinh doanh trước khi cam kết hoàn toàn với nó.
  • GRAshe thought it over for a couple of weeks and decided to give my suggestion a try'She thought it over for a couple of weeks' uses the phrasal verb 'think over', a more natural spoken choice than a formal equivalent like 'considered it', paired with a coordinated resolution clause about trying the suggestion. This comfortable, idiomatic-but-not-showy phrasing matches the Band 7.0 grammar and fluency targets of sounding natural rather than formal or rehearsed.'She thought it over for a couple of weeks' sử dụng cụm động từ 'think over', một lựa chọn nói tự nhiên hơn so với từ trang trọng tương đương như 'considered it', kết hợp với một mệnh đề quyết định đẳng lập về việc thử nghiệm đề xuất đó.
  • FCshe now jokes that my caution saved her from a disasterThe closing line reports Lan's own words through 'she now jokes that...', connecting the earlier advice directly to its eventual outcome rather than simply stating that things worked out. Using reported speech to deliver a reflective payoff, instead of a flat summary sentence, is the kind of development beyond plain narration the Band 7.0 fluency target expects.Câu kết thuật lại chính lời của Lan thông qua 'she now jokes that...', kết nối trực tiếp lời khuyên trước đó với kết quả cuối cùng của nó thay vì chỉ đơn thuần nói rằng mọi việc đã ổn thỏa. Việc dùng lời nói gián tiếp để mang lại một kết quả mang tính suy ngẫm, thay vì một câu tóm tắt bằng phẳng, chính là kiểu phát triển vượt lên trên lối kể chuyện đơn thuần mà mục tiêu độ trôi chảy Band 7.0 kỳ vọng.
Band 7.5

The aphoristic closing line 'people who want you usually will' turns a personal belief into a compact, reflective generalisation, which is distinctly Band 7.5.Câu kết mang tính châm ngôn 'people who want you usually will' biến một niềm tin cá nhân thành một khái quát cô đọng, mang tính suy ngẫm, rõ ràng ở mức Band 7.5.

The situation I'd describe is a conversation with my cousin Minh last year, when he was twenty-one and about to make what he called the biggest decision of his life.

He was in the final semester of a computer science degree in Da Nang, and a friend of his had started a small company building software for hotels. The friend wanted Minh full-time, immediately, and Minh wanted to go — he was bored of lectures, convinced the degree was worthless, and afraid the chance would vanish if he waited five months. He came to me, I think, because I'm the family member who works in technology, and he expected me to take his side against his parents.

The advice I gave was to do both. Finish the degree, because five months is nothing against forty years and a piece of paper opens doors that talent alone sometimes can't, especially for visas and big companies later. And in the meantime, work for the startup part-time, twenty hours a week, so that if it was real, he'd be there when it grew, and if it collapsed — which most of them do — he'd still have his degree and a good story.

I gave it because I'd seen the other version. A colleague of mine left university for a startup that died in a year, and it took him three more years to get back to where he'd been. I also genuinely believed the friend would wait, because people who want you usually will.

How Minh felt: furious, at first. He told me I'd become exactly like his father. He didn't speak to me for two weeks. Then he did both, as I'd suggested. He graduated in June, the startup survived and hired him properly in July, and at the family dinner afterwards he raised a glass and said, 'To my cousin, who was annoyingly right,' which is the only kind of thanks I've ever wanted.

  • LRfive months is nothing against forty years'Five months is nothing against forty years' is a figurative comparison, treating time spans as though they could be weighed against each other, used specifically to win an argument about finishing the degree. This kind of persuasive, idiomatic-style comparison is the figurative touch the Band 7.5 lexical target names, and it does real rhetorical work — it's the actual reason the cousin gives, not decoration.'Five months is nothing against forty years' là một phép so sánh mang tính hình tượng, coi các khoảng thời gian như thể có thể cân đong lẫn nhau, được dùng đặc biệt để thắng một cuộc tranh luận về việc hoàn thành tấm bằng.
  • GRApeople who want you usually will'People who want you usually will' compresses a relative clause, 'who want you', into a standalone aphorism, with the final verb 'will' left elliptically understood rather than repeated. That kind of compressed, less-common structure functioning as a self-contained maxim is well beyond the simple relative-clause use typical of Band 7.0, matching the Band 7.5 target of genuinely varied complex grammar.'People who want you usually will' nén một mệnh đề quan hệ, 'who want you', thành một câu cách ngôn độc lập, với động từ cuối 'will' được để lại ở dạng tỉnh lược, ngầm hiểu chứ không lặp lại. Kiểu cấu trúc nén chặt, ít gặp này hoạt động như một câu châm ngôn tự đầy đủ, vượt xa việc sử dụng mệnh đề quan hệ đơn giản điển hình của Band 7.0, khớp với mục tiêu Band 7.5: ngữ pháp phức thực sự đa dạng.
  • LRTo my cousin, who was annoyingly rightThe quoted toast 'To my cousin, who was annoyingly right' pairs a formal toast convention with the paradoxical, humorous adjective 'annoyingly' modifying a compliment. This idiomatic, wit-driven use of language to close the story on a note of natural humour is exactly the figurative touch the Band 7.5 descriptor expects, and it lands because it directly resolves the earlier tension of the cousin being furious.Lời chúc rượu được trích dẫn 'To my cousin, who was annoyingly right' kết hợp một quy ước chúc rượu trang trọng với tính từ nghịch lý, hài hước 'annoyingly' bổ nghĩa cho một lời khen.

States the main distinction plainly ('honest advice, not just comfort') and lists supporting reasons in short, separate sentences.Nêu rõ sự phân biệt chính một cách đơn giản ("honest advice, not just comfort") và liệt kê các lý do hỗ trợ bằng những câu ngắn, riêng biệt.

I think it is better to ask friends when you need honest advice, not just comfort. Before I left my first job, I asked a friend instead of my mother, because I already knew what my mother would say — stay, it's safe, don't be careless. Her answer would come from love, not from her real opinion about the job. Friends can be more honest about relationships and careers, things family already has opinions about. Friends also know the current you better than parents do. But for money and health, family usually knows more.

    • FCI think it is better to ask friends when you need honest advice, not just comfort. This opening states the whole distinction in one plain sentence. The 7.0 band sharpens this to 'the truth without the emotional weight', and 7.5 to 'the truth without the stake attached', both more precise and idiomatic ways of naming the same contrast.Câu mở đầu này nêu toàn bộ sự phân biệt trong một câu đơn giản. Band 7.0 mài giũa ý này thành "the truth without the emotional weight", và band 7.5 thành "the truth without the stake attached", cả hai đều là cách gọi tên chính xác và tự nhiên hơn cho cùng một sự đối lập.
    • LRHer answer would come from love, not from her real opinion about the job. This is plain, direct phrasing for the mother's motivation. The higher bands keep the same basic idea but embed it inside a longer sentence with a dash, as in 'and it came from love for me, not from any real view of the job itself'.Đây là cách diễn đạt đơn giản, trực tiếp về động cơ của người mẹ. Band điểm cao hơn giữ nguyên ý cơ bản đó nhưng lồng nó vào một câu dài hơn bằng dấu gạch ngang, như "and it came from love for me, not from any real view of the job itself".
    • GRAFriends can be more honest about relationships and careers, things family already has opinions about. This sentence uses a comma to attach a short explanatory phrase. The 7.5 version instead builds a longer sentence joined by a semicolon, folding in the point about knowing the current version of a person within the same continuous structure.Câu này dùng dấu phẩy để gắn thêm một cụm giải thích ngắn.

I'd say it's better to ask friends when you need the truth without the emotional weight. Before I left my first job, I asked a friend rather than my mother, because I already knew her answer before I even asked — stay, be safe, don't be reckless — and it came from love for me, not from any real view of the job itself. Family advice tends to carry the weight of their hopes for you, and sometimes their own fears too. • FCthe truth without the emotional weightThis phrase is more precise than the plain 'honest advice, not just comfort' at 6.5, naming the specific quality — emotional weight — that friends lack. It's a step toward the even more compact 7.5 phrase 'the truth without the stake attached'.Cụm từ này chính xác hơn cách nói đơn giản "honest advice, not just comfort" ở band 6.5, gọi tên đúng đặc điểm cụ thể — gánh nặng cảm xúc — mà bạn bè không có. Đây là một bước tiến tới cụm từ cô đọng hơn nữa ở band 7.5, "the truth without the stake attached".
    • LRFriends, on the other hand, can be more honest about relationships and careers, areas where family already has fixed opinions.'Fixed opinions' is a more precise phrase than the plainer 'opinions' at 6.5, suggesting the opinions are hard to move.
    • GRAbecause I already knew her answer before I even asked — stay, be safe, don't be reckless — and it came from love for me, not from any real view of the job itselfThis sentence uses a dash-marked list embedded within a longer clause, more ambitious than the two separate sentences used for similar content at 6.5. It's close to the 7.5 structure, which adds the word 'genuine' for extra precision.Câu này dùng một danh sách đánh dấu bằng gạch ngang lồng bên trong một mệnh đề dài hơn, tham vọng hơn so với hai câu riêng biệt được dùng cho nội dung tương tự ở band 6.5. Before I left my first job, I asked a friend rather than my mother, simply because I knew my mother's answer before I'd even asked it — stay, security, don't be reckless — and it came from love for me, not from any genuine view of the job. Family advice carries the weight of their hopes for you, and often of their own fears as well. Friends, by contrast, can be far more honest about relationships, careers and anything family already has fixed opinions on; they also tend to know the current version of you better, whereas parents sometimes remember an entirely different one. • FCthe truth without the stake attached'The stake attached' is a more compact, idiomatic phrase than the fuller 'the emotional weight' used at 7.0. This kind of economy — saying the same thing in fewer, more precise words — is typical of the top band."The stake attached" là một cụm từ cô đọng, tự nhiên hơn cụm từ đầy đủ hơn "the emotional weight" được dùng ở band 7.0.
    • LRnot from any genuine view of the job'Genuine' is a slightly more precise word than the plainer 'real' used at 6.5 and 7.0 for describing an honest assessment.
    • GRAthey also tend to know the current version of you better, whereas parents sometimes remember an entirely different oneThis clause uses a semicolon to link it to the previous point about honesty, then adds a 'whereas' contrast, more layered than the separate sentence used at 6.5. Usually it's about a world they entered late. My father asks me which phone to buy, which makes sense, but last year he also asked how to talk to a new colleague thirty years younger who wouldn't speak in meetings. That was a real request to understand a different generation. Technology is the obvious area, but younger people also understand job markets and what is acceptable to say now. It takes some humility to ask, and the older people who do it are usually the wiser ones. Being asked made me feel like an adult.

The higher bands restructure this with a comma-marked aside ('which is fairly expected') and a dash-free continuous clause, showing slightly tighter integration.Câu này nối hai ví dụ bằng "but", chính xác nhưng khá tuyến tính.

Usually it's about a world they entered rather late. My father asks me which phone to buy, which is fairly expected, but last year he also asked how to handle a new colleague thirty years younger who wouldn't speak up in meetings, and that felt like a genuine request for translation between generations. Technology is the obvious area, but younger people also know how things work now — job markets, social norms, what's acceptable to say — in ways that have simply changed since older people learned the rules. It takes a certain humility, and honestly, the older people who do it tend to be the wiser ones. Being asked was one of the first times I felt like a proper adult in my family.

It's shared exactly with the 7.5 opening, showing the two higher bands converge on this precise wording.
    • LRa genuine request for translation between generations'Translation between generations' is a vivid, figurative phrase that the plainer '6.5' version doesn't attempt. It reframes the father's question as bridging two different worlds rather than simply 'understanding' one."Translation between generations" là một cụm từ sống động, giàu hình ảnh mà phiên bản đơn giản hơn ở band 6.5 không thử dùng. • GRAjob markets, social norms, what's acceptable to say — in ways that have simply changed since older people learned the rulesThis dash-marked list feeding into a 'that have... changed' clause is more compact than the comma-list-plus-clause structure at 6.5. It's close to the 7.5 version, which adds 'quietly shifted' instead of 'simply changed', a slightly more vivid verb.

    Band 6.5

Opens with the Minh story told in one sentence with 'so' and lists the two main problems as separate short sentences.Mở đầu bằng câu chuyện của Minh, kể trong một câu có "so", và liệt kê hai vấn đề chính bằng những câu ngắn riêng biệt.

By the time Minh came to me, he had already asked eight other people, and each one gave him a different, confident answer, so he was more confused than before he started. The first problem is that the advice contradicts itself, and the second is that it lets you avoid actually deciding. Asking many people can also become a way to search for the answer you already wanted, and stopping once you hear it. It also spreads your private business around. Too many opinions make your own judgement unclear, and that is the judgement you have to live with.

The first quality is being able to listen longer than feels comfortable. My old studio director used to ask questions for twenty minutes before giving a single opinion, and by the end you had often solved the problem yourself. Honesty matters too. You also need enough experience to know what usually happens, and enough humility to know it might not this time. Being able to stay separate from the outcome matters, because advice from someone who needs you to take it feels like pressure, not real advice. And you need respect for the other person's right to ignore you.

Adds 'I'd say' before the first quality and compresses 'being able to stay separate from the outcome' into the single word 'Detachment'.Thêm "I'd say" trước phẩm chất đầu tiên và nén "being able to stay separate from the outcome" thành một từ duy nhất "Detachment".

The first quality, I'd say, is the ability to listen longer than feels comfortable. My old studio director would ask questions for twenty minutes before offering a single opinion, and by the end you'd often solved the problem yourself, which was really the whole point. Honesty matters too, of course, including the courage to say something the person won't like. Enough experience to know what usually happens, and enough humility to know it might not this time, both matter as well. Detachment is important too — advice from someone who needs you to take it is pressure, not advice. And a kind of respect for the other person's right to ignore you completely.

Mostly I agree, though the personality behind it is harder to change. A very blunt colleague of mine took a mentoring course and really improved: he learned to ask before telling, to check what the person wanted, and to wait before speaking. He is still blunt, and his advice still feels strong, but now it is more useful instead of just honest. Listening, structuring and timing can be taught. What is harder to teach is caring more about the other person's result than about being right. So anyone can become competent, but only some people become the ones others actually go to.

Whenever being wrong costs money. When my studio did its first tax return, a friend who said he "knew about tax" helped us, and the penalty we paid was three times what an accountant would have cost. That is the clearest case: technical questions with real consequences. Paid advice also comes with responsibility, because a professional answers for mistakes and a friend usually does not. It is also better when you need privacy, or when the question would feel awkward to ask friends, like a divorce or a will. Sometimes you pay simply to get an answer with no emotional interest in your choice.

Adds 'really' to the opening claim and introduces the precise comparison 'a thousand dollars of legal advice can save a million-dollar mistake'.Thêm "really" vào luận điểm mở đầu và đưa vào phép so sánh chính xác "a thousand dollars of legal advice can save a million-dollar mistake".

Because you're paying for the years behind the minutes, really. The lawyer who reviewed our studio's first big contract answered our question in about twenty minutes, and it took her twenty years of training and practice to be able to do that — so the fee was essentially for those twenty years. Professionals also carry liability: if the advice turns out wrong, they pay for it, and insuring against that is genuinely expensive. Their supply is limited too, since long qualification periods keep the numbers low, which naturally keeps prices high. And because the stakes are high, clients are willing to pay, since a thousand dollars of legal advice can save a million-dollar mistake.

    • FCBecause you're paying for the years behind the minutes, really.Adding 'really' at the end of the sentence gives it a more natural, spoken afterthought quality than the plain statement at 6.5. It's close to the 7.5 phrasing, which moves 'essentially' to a different position in the sentence for a similar effect.
    • LRa thousand dollars of legal advice can save a million-dollar mistakeThis precise numerical comparison is more vivid and concrete than the vaguer 'a small amount of legal advice can prevent a very costly mistake' used at 6.5. It is shared exactly with the 7.5 version, showing convergence in this specific figurative choice.Phép so sánh bằng con số chính xác này sống động, cụ thể hơn cách nói mơ hồ hơn "a small amount of legal advice can prevent a very costly mistake" được dùng ở band 6.5.
    • GRAProfessionals also carry liability: if the advice turns out wrong, they pay for it, and insuring against that is genuinely expensive. This sentence uses a colon to introduce the liability point directly, more compact than the dash used for a similar purpose at 6.5. It's close to the 7.5 version, which uses the same colon structure but slightly different surrounding wording.Câu này dùng dấu hai chấm để dẫn nhập trực tiếp điểm về trách nhiệm pháp lý, cô đọng hơn dấu gạch ngang được dùng cho mục đích tương tự ở band 6.5. Nó gần với bản 7.5 điểm, vốn dùng cùng cấu trúc dấu hai chấm nhưng cách diễn đạt xung quanh hơi khác.
    Band 7.5

Sharpens the timing detail to 'twenty minutes flat' and closes with the extended contrast 'fair in principle and considerably harder on those who simply can't afford it.'Làm sắc nét chi tiết thời gian thành "twenty minutes flat" và kết thúc bằng sự đối lập mở rộng "fair in principle and considerably harder on those who simply can't afford it."

Because you're paying for the years behind the minutes, essentially. The lawyer who reviewed our studio's first big contract answered our question in twenty minutes flat, and it took her twenty years of training and practice to be able to — the fee, in effect, was for those twenty years, not the twenty minutes. Professionals also carry liability: if the advice is wrong, they pay, and insuring against that is expensive in itself. Their supply is limited by long qualification, which keeps prices high almost by design. And the stakes are high enough that clients will happily pay — a thousand dollars of legal advice can save a million-dollar mistake, which makes the system fair in principle and considerably harder on those who simply can't afford it.

    • FCin twenty minutes flat'Flat' after a time expression is a natural, idiomatic intensifier that neither lower band uses; both settle for the plainer 'in twenty minutes' or 'in about twenty minutes'.
    • LRthe fee, in effect, was for those twenty years, not the twenty minutesThe explicit 'not the twenty minutes' contrast is a more precise, pointed way of making the central metaphor land than the plainer 'the fee was essentially for those twenty years' at 7.0. It states clearly what is being ruled out, not just what is being claimed.Sự đối lập rõ ràng "not the twenty minutes" là một cách làm cho phép ẩn dụ trung tâm "trúng đích" chính xác, sắc bén hơn cách nói đơn giản hơn "the fee was essentially for those twenty years" ở band 7.0.
    • GRAwhich makes the system fair in principle and considerably harder on those who simply can't afford itThis closing clause balances 'fair in principle' against 'harder on those who can't afford it' within one sentence, more ambitious than the simpler final sentence at 6.5 and 7.0. The balanced structure gives the ending a genuinely evaluative, two-sided conclusion.Mệnh đề kết này cân bằng "fair in principle" với "harder on those who can't afford it" trong cùng một câu, tham vọng hơn câu kết đơn giản hơn ở band 6.5 và 7.0.

    Band 6.5

States agreement plainly and gives the grandmother example, then lists the categories of prevented problems in one sentence.Nêu sự đồng ý một cách đơn giản và đưa ra ví dụ về bà, sau đó liệt kê các loại vấn đề được ngăn chặn trong một câu.

I agree, and I have seen the benefit of it myself. A free legal clinic helped my grandmother keep her flat when a landlord tried to remove her, which was surely cheaper for the government than a homeless pensioner afterwards. Good advice prevents expensive problems, like bad contracts, untreated illness, debt, and failed small businesses, and the people who need it most are usually the ones who cannot pay for it. Free advice about health, law, tax and starting a business is really an investment, not charity. I would only be careful about quality, since underfunded advice can be worse than none.

    • FCI agree, and I have seen the benefit of it myself. This opening states agreement and personal connection plainly. Both higher bands upgrade 'seen the benefit of it' to 'seen the return on it', a more precise, almost financial metaphor that suits the argument about advice as investment.Câu mở đầu này nêu sự đồng ý và mối liên hệ cá nhân một cách đơn giản. Cả hai band điểm cao hơn đều nâng cấp "seen the benefit of it" thành "seen the return on it", một phép ẩn dụ chính xác hơn, gần như mang tính tài chính, phù hợp với lập luận về việc coi lời khuyên là một khoản đầu tư.
    • LRFree advice about health, law, tax and starting a business is really an investment, not charity. This is plain, direct phrasing for the central claim. The 7.5 band extends this to 'is an investment, not charity, whichever way you frame it', adding a further clause that makes the claim feel more considered and final.Đây là cách diễn đạt luận điểm trung tâm đơn giản, trực tiếp. Band 7.5 mở rộng thành "is an investment, not charity, whichever way you frame it", thêm một mệnh đề khiến luận điểm có cảm giác cân nhắc và dứt khoát hơn.
    • GRAGood advice prevents expensive problems, like bad contracts, untreated illness, debt, and failed small businesses, and the people who need it most are usually the ones who cannot pay for it.This sentence lists four examples with commas before adding a further clause with 'and', accurate but long and additive. The higher bands restructure this with dashes around the list, making it read as a clearer aside within the sentence.Câu này liệt kê bốn ví dụ bằng dấu phẩy trước khi thêm một mệnh đề bằng "and", chính xác nhưng dài và mang tính cộng dồn.

I agree, and honestly I've seen the return on it firsthand. A free legal clinic helped my grandmother keep her flat when a landlord tried to remove her, and it was surely cheaper for the state than dealing with a homeless pensioner afterwards. Good advice prevents expensive problems — bad contracts, untreated illness, debt, failed small businesses — and the people who most need it are exactly those who can't afford to buy it. Free advice on health, law, tax and starting a business feels like an investment rather than charity. Vì sao đạt band này

    • FChonestly I've seen the return on it firsthand'The return on it' is a more precise, financially flavoured phrase than the plainer 'the benefit of it' at 6.5, fitting the later claim that advice is an investment. It is shared closely with the 7.5 version, showing convergence between the two higher bands."The return on it" là một cụm từ chính xác hơn, mang màu sắc tài chính hơn cách nói đơn giản hơn "the benefit of it" ở band 6.5, phù hợp với luận điểm sau đó rằng lời khuyên là một khoản đầu tư.
    • LRthose who can't afford to buy it'Afford to buy it' is a slightly more precise phrase than the plainer 'cannot pay for it' at 6.5, treating advice explicitly as a good that can be bought. This small shift reinforces the investment framing used throughout the answer."Afford to buy it" là một cụm từ chính xác hơn một chút so với cách nói đơn giản hơn "cannot pay for it" ở band 6.5, coi lời khuyên một cách rõ ràng như một món hàng có thể mua được. Sự chuyển đổi nhỏ này củng cố khung "đầu tư" được dùng xuyên suốt câu trả lời.

It's close to the 7.5 structure, which restructures the verb to 'heads off... before they start' for extra precision.Câu này dùng dấu gạch ngang để tách danh sách ví dụ thành một câu chêm rõ ràng, có kiểm soát hơn danh sách dùng nhiều dấu phẩy ở band 6.5. Nó gần với cấu trúc ở band 7.5, vốn tái cấu trúc động từ thành "heads off... before they start" để chính xác hơn.

    Vì sao đạt band này

    • FCheads off expensive problems before they start'Heads off... before they start' is a more precise, active verb phrase than the plainer 'prevents' used at 6.5 and 7.0. It emphasises timing — stopping a problem before it exists — rather than simply blocking an existing one."Heads off... before they start" là một cụm động từ chính xác, chủ động hơn cách nói đơn giản hơn "prevents" được dùng ở band 6.5 và 7.0.

    • GRABut the principle that knowing your rights shouldn't depend on your income strikes me as basic to a fair society. This closing sentence adds a further reflective generalisation that neither lower band reaches; both end after the point about quality. The added sentence, built around a 'that' clause as subject, gives the whole answer a more considered, rounded conclusion.Câu kết này thêm vào một nhận định khái quát mang tính suy ngẫm sâu hơn nữa mà cả hai band thấp hơn đều không đạt tới; cả hai đều kết thúc sau điểm về chất lượng.
