6.5 分

The answer uses simple, everyday phrasing throughout ('How I know her is easy') and closes on a plain factual statement, giving clear but linguistically modest content typical of Band 6.5.这段回答通篇使用简单日常的措辞('我认识她很简单,是因为……'),并以一句朴素的事实陈述收尾,内容清晰但语言表现朴素,是Band 6.5的典型特征。

The person I want to talk about is my friend Phương, who I've known since primary school in Hue.

How I know her is easy — we sat next to each other in class for years and stayed close friends even after I moved to Da Nang for work.

Phương first talked about working in medicine when we were about ten years old. She got very sick with dengue fever that year and had to stay in hospital for almost a week. She has told me many times how the doctor who treated her explained everything clearly and made her feel less scared, even though she was just a child. After she recovered, she told everyone at school she wanted to be a doctor one day, and unlike a lot of childhood dreams, hers never really changed.

What she is doing now is studying medicine at a university in Hue. She's in her final year and already doing hospital placements, working long shifts and studying at night.

Why she has always wanted this, I think, is because she remembers clearly what it felt like to be a frightened patient, and she wants to give other people that same feeling of being taken care of. She talks about being tired all the time, but she has never once said she wants to change her path.

  • FCHow I know her is easy — we sat next to each other in class for years and stayed close friends even after I moved to Da Nang for work. The dash after 'How I know her is easy' functions as a simple spoken pause before the explanation, and the explanation itself lists two plain facts (sitting together, staying close after moving) joined with 'and', answering the cue card's 'how do you know this person' point directly and in order. It's a clear, efficient opening that doesn't reach for a more layered or reflective framing of the friendship, staying at the level of straightforward factual reporting that fits the 6.5 Fluency & Coherence target.'How I know her is easy'后面的破折号起到一个简单口语停顿的作用,引出后面的解释,而这段解释本身列举了两个平实的事实(坐在一起、搬家后仍然保持亲密),用'and'连接,直接、按顺序回答了cue card"你是怎么认识这个人的"这一要点。这是一个清晰、高效的开头,没有试图对这段友谊做更多层次或更具反思性的铺陈,停留在直白事实陈述的水平,符合Band 6.5流利度与连贯性的目标。
  • LRshe told everyone at school she wanted to be a doctor one dayEvery word in the clause is basic and concrete — 'told', 'everyone', 'wanted', 'doctor' — describing childhood ambition in the most direct terms available, without reaching for a more specific verb (announced, declared) or a more reflective framing that a higher-band answer might use for the same moment. This plain reporting keeps the anecdote's key turning point (the illness leading to a stated ambition) completely unambiguous, which is exactly what the 6.5 lexical target prioritises over more varied word choice.这个分句中的每一个词都基础而具体——'told'、'everyone'、'wanted'、'doctor'——用现成最直接的词语描述童年的志向,没有去寻找更具体的动词(announced、declared),也没有采用更高分段答案在同一时刻可能使用的更具反思性的表述方式。这种平实的叙述让这段轶事的关键转折点(生病促使她说出这个志向)完全清晰、毫不含糊,而这正是Band 6.5词汇目标相对于更丰富的用词选择所优先看重的东西。
  • GRAShe talks about being tired all the time, but she has never once said she wants to change her path. The sentence joins a present-simple habitual clause ('talks about being tired') with a present-perfect negative clause ('has never once said') via 'but', correctly using the present perfect to claim this has held true across her whole time in medical school up to now. It's a single, accurate contrast rather than a layered structure, with 'never once' adding emphasis through a common intensifying pattern rather than a more marked grammatical device. This matches the 6.5 grammar target — one clear contrast, correctly tensed, without further subordination.这句话用'but'把一个表示习惯的现在简单时分句('talks about being tired')和一个现在完成时的否定分句('has never once said')连接起来,正确地用现在完成时来断言这一点在她读医学院的整段时期直到现在都始终成立。这是一个单一、准确的对比,而不是多层次的结构,'never once'通过一种常见的强调方式增添语气,而不是借助更显眼的语法手段。这符合Band 6.5的语法目标——一个清楚的对比,时态正确,没有进一步的从属结构。
7.0 分

The answer develops a clear reason for Tuan's choice with a specific remembered detail and closes with a genuine personal reflection ('it's honestly reassuring to see someone that clear about what they want'), showing the reason-and-example development Band 7.0 targets, in a comfortable mix of simple and complex sentences.这段回答用一个具体回忆的细节来展开阿俊做出这个选择的清晰理由,并以一句真诚的个人感悟收尾('看到他现在对自己想要什么这么清楚,说实话挺让人安心的'),体现出Band 7.0所要求的'理由加举例'式展开,同时简单句与复杂句搭配得也很自然。

The person I'd like to talk about is Tuan, the son of my neighbours here in Da Nang, who's currently in his second year of medical school.

How I know him is simply through living next door for the past six years; I've watched him grow from a teenager who mostly played football in the alley into someone who now spends his weekends studying anatomy.

Tuan first talked about wanting to work in medicine when he was around fourteen, after his father had a fairly serious motorbike accident and spent almost two weeks in hospital. He's told me that watching a young doctor calmly explain the treatment plan to his frightened mother left a bigger impression on him than the accident itself. From that point, he apparently stopped talking about being an engineer, which had been his plan before, and started asking his parents for biology books instead.

What he's doing now is studying at a medical university in Hue, coming home most weekends because it's not too far, and already talking about wanting to specialise in emergency medicine rather than something calmer, which surprised his mother a little.

Why he's always wanted this, I think, is connected to that one moment of watching someone bring calm into a frightening situation. He's mentioned a few times that he doesn't just want to treat people's bodies, he wants to be the person in the room who makes a family feel like things are under control. It's a fairly demanding path, and he complains sometimes about the amount of memorising involved, but he's never once suggested he'd rather be doing something else. Considering how uncertain he used to be about most things as a teenager, it's honestly reassuring to see someone that clear about what they want.

  • FCConsidering how uncertain he used to be about most things as a teenager, it's honestly reassuring to see someone that clear about what they want. The closing sentence opens with a participial clause ("Considering how uncertain he used to be...") that explicitly reaches back to characterise Tuan's teenage years before delivering the reflective payoff about his current certainty. That kind of developed closing, linking the ending back to an earlier point in the story rather than just summarising, is the Band 7.0 fluency and coherence pattern, connected reasoning across the whole answer, not just within one sentence.这个结尾句以一个分词状语从句开头('Considering how uncertain he used to be...',考虑到他曾经是多么缺乏自信……),明确地回溯到Tuan青少年时期的特点,然后才给出关于他如今自信心的反思性收获。这种把结尾与故事中更早的观点联系起来、而不只是做总结的发展方式,正是Band 7.0流利度与连贯性的模式——贯穿整个回答的连贯推理,而不仅仅局限于一个句子内。
  • LRmakes a family feel like things are under control"Under control" is a natural, flexible collocation used here inside a longer construction ("makes a family feel like things are under control") rather than as a standalone phrase, showing it's been absorbed into fluent use rather than just memorised. That kind of natural, slightly abstract collocation, deployed smoothly, is the Band 7.0 vocabulary target, one level up from a literal alternative like "makes them feel safe".'Under control'(尽在掌控)是一个自然、灵活的搭配,这里被用在一个更长的结构里('makes a family feel like things are under control',让一个家庭感觉一切都在掌控之中),而不是作为一个独立短语单独出现,这表明它已经被内化为流利表达的一部分,而不只是死记硬背的短语。这种自然、略带抽象色彩的搭配,运用得如此顺畅,正是Band 7.0的词汇目标,比'makes them feel safe'(让他们感到安全)这种字面化的说法高出一个层次。
  • GRAHe's told me that watching a young doctor calmly explain the treatment plan to his frightened mother left a bigger impression on him than the accident itself. This sentence nests a gerund-phrase subject ("watching a young doctor calmly explain the treatment plan") inside a reported-speech frame ("He's told me that...") and closes with a comparative ("than the accident itself"), combining several structures accurately to make a fairly nuanced comparative claim. That kind of layered but controlled complexity is what "comfortably" complex means at Band 7.0, ambitious enough to carry real nuance, without needing the more marked structures, clefts, conditionals, that would push it toward 7.5.这句话把一个动名词短语主语('watching a young doctor calmly explain the treatment plan',看着一位年轻医生冷静地讲解治疗方案)嵌套进一个转述性框架('He's told me that...',他曾告诉我……)里,并以一个比较结构结尾('than the accident itself',胜过事故本身),准确地组合了多种结构,表达出一个相当细腻的比较性论断。这种层层叠加却受控的复杂度,正是Band 7.0所说的'从容地'复杂——足够有野心承载真正的细微差别,却不需要更为突出的结构(比如强调句、条件句)才能推向Band 7.5。
7.5 分

The balanced, almost aphoristic sentence - 'The doctors, she says, decide what happens; the nurses decide how it feels' - uses a semicolon to set up a precise, self-composed contrast, showing the sophisticated sentence control and reflective insight of Band 7.5.这句结构均衡、近乎格言式的话——'她说,医生决定会发生什么;护士决定这一切给人的感受如何'——用一个分号构建出精确、由说话者自己提炼出来的对比,展现出Band 7.5那种老练的造句能力和反思深度。

The person is my cousin Ngọc, who is two years younger than me, and who has wanted to be a nurse since she was nine years old.

How I know her is simple: we grew up on the same street in Hue, and for most of my childhood she was more like a younger sister than a cousin.

When she first had the idea, I can date almost exactly, because I was there. Our grandmother was in hospital for three weeks when Ngọc was nine, and the family took turns sitting with her. On the ward there was one nurse, a woman in her forties, who did something the others didn't: she talked to our grandmother as if she were a person rather than a bed, remembered what she'd said the day before, and once stayed twenty minutes past her shift to finish a conversation about Hue in the old days. Ngọc watched her the way other children watch footballers. On the bus home one evening she announced that she'd be that nurse, and she never changed her mind, through school, and through her parents' suggestion that she become a doctor instead.

What she's doing now is running the night shift on a ward for older patients in a Da Nang hospital — thirty beds, mostly people over seventy, many of them confused or frightened at night. She's been there six years. The doctors, she says, decide what happens; the nurses decide how it feels.

Why she's always wanted this, I think, is that she saw at nine what most people take decades to see: that illness is mostly endured at night, by people who are scared, and that the person who holds that fear is doing something as important as the person who prescribes for it. She wanted to be the one in the room. She is, and she's tired, and she's never once talked about leaving.

  • FCThe doctors, she says, decide what happens; the nurses decide how it feels. This is a self-composed aphorism, structured with a semicolon linking two parallel clauses in balanced contrast, rather than a plain statement like "she thinks nurses are just as important as doctors." Constructing an original, quotable contrast like this — attributed to the cousin via "she says" but clearly shaped by the speaker's own phrasing — is exactly the kind of genuine reflective insight the 7.5 tier rewards over plain description; a 7.0 answer would more likely paraphrase the same idea in a longer, less polished sentence. The parallel structure itself, decide what versus decide how, also gives the line real rhetorical weight, distilling the whole story's theme into one sentence.这是一句自创的格言,用分号连接两个句式对称、形成平衡对比的分句,而不是像“she thinks nurses are just as important as doctors”那样平铺直叙的陈述。构建这样一句原创、值得引用的对比句——通过“she says”归到表姐名下,却明显带有说话人自己遣词造句的痕迹——正是 7.5 档次在单纯描述之外所奖励的那种真正的反思性洞察;Band 7.0 的答案更可能把同样的意思用一个更长、不那么精炼的句子转述出来。“决定做什么”对“决定怎么做”这一并列结构本身,也赋予了这句话真正的修辞分量,把整个故事的主题浓缩进了一句话里。
  • LRshe saw at nine what most people take decades to seeThis compresses a comparison between the cousin's early insight and most people's slower understanding into one tight, idiomatic-feeling structure, rather than stating it plainly as "she understood something important at a young age." This kind of precise, compressed comparison is what the 7.5 tier's Lexical Resource descriptor rewards as flexible language beyond literal description; a 7.0 answer would more likely spell out the same idea in more, plainer words. The specific contrast between "nine" and "decades" also gives the claim real force by quantifying just how precocious the realisation was.
  • GRAShe wanted to be the one in the room. This short sentence is deliberately placed after a longer, more complex explanatory sentence, creating a rhetorical pause that lets the core motivation land with weight — a controlled variation in sentence length rather than an accident of style. This kind of intentional short-sentence placement for emphasis is part of the sentence-level control the 7.5 tier rewards under Grammatical Range, which is about range and control, not just complexity; a 7.0 answer would more likely fold this idea into a longer sentence rather than isolating it. The phrase "the one in the room" also economically captures the nurse's role as a constant, comforting presence, without needing further explanation. “the one in the room”这个短语也用经济的方式捕捉到了护士作为一种持续、令人安心的存在这一角色,而无需进一步解释。

The 6.5 answer gives a direct opinion with one plain example, using simple connectors like "so" and modest vocabulary throughout.6.5分范文给出一个直接的观点,配上一个平实的例子,全篇使用“so”这类简单连接词和朴素的词汇。

I think it's because a doctor seems really powerful to a child. My nephew has a white-coat costume and he wears it to fix his toys, so he already understands the idea. Doctors make bad things stop, and children like that a lot. Parents also push this job, because in my parents' generation, being a doctor was the most respected job in a family. So children hear this a lot and start to want it too.

    我认为这是因为在孩子眼中,医生显得非常有力量。我侄子有一套白大褂服装,他穿着它去“修理”他的玩具,所以他其实已经懂得这个道理了。医生能让坏事停止,孩子们非常喜欢这一点。父母也会推动孩子选择这份职业,因为在我父母那一代人当中,当医生是一个家庭里最受尊敬的职业。所以孩子们经常听到这种说法,也开始渴望成为医生。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCI think it's because a doctor seems really powerful to a child. The answer opens with a direct, one-clause opinion and moves straight into the reason, which is typical of 6.5 fluency: clear but linear. A 7+ answer would usually soften this with a reflective marker like "honestly" or "I'd say" before committing to the claim.这篇范文以一个直接的单句观点开篇,并直接进入理由,这是6.5分流利度的典型特征:清晰但呈线性展开。7分以上的范文通常会先用“honestly”或“I'd say”这类反思性标记来缓和语气,再给出论断。
    • LRDoctors make bad things stop, and children like that a lot."make bad things stop" and "like that a lot" are modest, everyday word choices joined with the plain connector "and". A higher band would likely reach for a less common collocation here, such as "holds real power over" or "captures the appeal", instead of this flat phrasing.“make bad things stop”和“like that a lot”是朴素的日常用词,用简单的连接词“and”连接在一起。更高分段很可能会在这里选用较少见的搭配,比如“holds real power over”或“captures the appeal”,而不是这种平淡的表达。
    • GRAbecause in my parents' generation, being a doctor was the most respected job in a familyThis is a simple because-clause with a gerund subject, the one moderately varied structure in an otherwise short-sentence answer. A 6.5 answer usually manages only one such structure; a 7.5 answer would combine it with a participle or a fronted clause for more compact grammar.这是一个带动名词主语的简单“because”从句,是整篇以短句为主的回答中唯一一个中等变化程度的结构。6.5分范文通常只能设法用上一个这样的结构;而7.5分范文则会将其与分词结构或前置从句结合,让语法更加凝练。
    7.0 分

The 7.0 answer opens with the spoken hedge "Honestly" and links its reasons with a moderately complex "and"-joined sentence.7.0分范文以口语化的缓和语“Honestly”开篇,并用一个中等复杂度、以“and”连接的句子来串联理由。

Honestly, I think it's because a doctor is the most powerful adult a child ever meets. My nephew actually owns a white-coat costume and wears it around the house to fix his toys, which says a lot about the appeal. To be fair, parents push it too — in my parents' generation, having a doctor in the family was seen as the highest kind of success, and that pressure hasn't really gone away. Children also meet doctors at their most frightened moments, so the memory sticks, and I'd say most grow out of it once they meet real chemistry classes.

    • FCHonestly, I think it's because a doctor is the most powerful adult a child ever meets.Opening with "Honestly" as a natural spoken hedge before the opinion is a clear 7.0 marker — it signals reflection rather than a flat statement. A 6.5 answer would usually skip this softening and state the opinion directly, while a 7.5 answer might compress it further into a participial or fronted structure instead.以“Honestly”这一自然的口语化缓和语开篇,置于观点之前,是7.0分明显的标志——它传递出反思的意味,而不是平铺直叙的陈述。6.5分范文通常会跳过这种缓和处理,直接陈述观点;而7.5分范文则可能会进一步把它压缩进分词结构或前置从句中。
    • LRwhich says a lot about the appeal"says a lot about the appeal" is a mild, natural collocation rather than a plain restatement like "shows why children like it". It's a step up from 6.5's flatter wording but still common enough that it doesn't reach the more unusual, precise vocabulary a 7.5 answer would use.“says a lot about the appeal”是一种较为自然、温和的搭配,而不是像“shows why children like it”那样的平铺直叙。它比6.5分更平淡的措辞进了一步,但仍然足够常见,还没有达到7.5分范文会使用的那种更不寻常、更精确的词汇水平。
    • GRAhaving a doctor in the family was seen as the highest kind of success, and that pressure hasn't really gone awayThis links a gerund-subject clause to a second independent clause with "and", producing one longer, moderately complex sentence — the kind of linking a 7.0 answer manages once or twice. A 7.5 answer would likely turn part of this into a reduced participial or relative clause instead of two full clauses joined by "and".这里用“and”把一个动名词主语从句和第二个独立分句连接起来,形成一个更长、中等复杂度的句子——这是7.0分范文通常能做到一两次的连接方式。7.5分范文则很可能会把其中一部分转化为简化的分词结构或关系从句,而不是用“and”连接两个完整的分句。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer opens with a fronted participial phrase and reaches for the idiomatic collocation "the pinnacle of success".7.5分范文以前置分词短语开篇,并使用了习语化搭配“the pinnacle of success”。

Partly, I think, because a doctor is the most powerful adult a child ever encounters. My nephew owns a white-coat costume and wears it religiously to fix his toys, having apparently grasped the appeal already: a doctor is someone who makes bad things stop. Encouraged by parents who still remember when a doctor in the family counted as the pinnacle of success, that instinct gets reinforced rather than outgrown. Children also tend to meet doctors at their most frightened moments, which lodges the image firmly in memory, and television only heightens the drama. Most abandon the dream the moment they meet chemistry; the ones who don't usually saw something rather specific along the way.

    • FCPartly, I think, because a doctor is the most powerful adult a child ever encounters. The opinion is framed with a qualifying "Partly, I think" inserted mid-clause rather than as a separate sentence, giving the opening a more flexible, spoken-but-controlled rhythm. A 7.0 answer would more likely place a hedge like "honestly" cleanly before the clause instead of embedding it this way.这个观点用一个限定性短语“Partly, I think”插入在从句中间来表达,而不是作为独立句子出现,这让开篇的节奏更加灵活,兼具口语感和克制感。7.0分范文更可能会把类似“honestly”这样的缓和语干净利落地放在从句之前,而不是像这样嵌入其中。
    • LRcounted as the pinnacle of success"the pinnacle of success" is a genuinely less common, more idiomatic collocation than 7.0's "highest kind of success" or 6.5's "most respected job". This kind of precise, slightly elevated word choice is what distinguishes 7.5 lexical resource from the merely adequate vocabulary of the lower bands.“the pinnacle of success”确实是一个比7.0分的“highest kind of success”或6.5分的“most respected job”更少见、更地道的搭配。正是这种精确、略显高雅的用词选择,把7.5分的词汇运用能力与低分段中仅仅够用的词汇区分开来。
    • GRAEncouraged by parents who still remember when a doctor in the family counted as the pinnacle of success, that instinct gets reinforced rather than outgrownThis opens with a fronted participial phrase ("Encouraged by parents...") before the main clause, a compact structure that a 6.5 or 7.0 answer would be unlikely to attempt, since both tend to keep subject-first sentence order. It also compresses two ideas — cause and effect — into a single flexible sentence.这句话以前置分词短语(“Encouraged by parents...”)开头,置于主句之前,这是一种6.5或7.0分范文都不太可能尝试的紧凑结构,因为两者都倾向于保持主语在前的句子语序。它还把两个想法——原因和结果——压缩进了一个灵活的句子里。

It's difficult, in my opinion, more than people realise. The doctor on my friend Ngọc's ward looks after thirty patients at night and has to make big decisions at three in the morning. The training takes many years and is very hard. In Vietnam, doctors in public hospitals see so many patients every morning that the hours become crazy. It's also emotionally hard, because if something goes wrong, a real person suffers. So I don't think anyone would call it easy.

    • FCIt's difficult, in my opinion, more than people realise. The answer states its position in one short sentence right at the start, which is the clear, linear structure typical of 6.5 fluency. A 7+ answer would more likely delay the flat statement with a spoken filler such as "honestly" or a brief qualifying remark first.这篇范文在开头用一个简短的句子直接陈述立场,这是6.5分流利度典型的清晰、线性结构。7分以上的范文更可能会先用“honestly”这类口语化的填充词,或者先来一句简短的限定性说明,来推迟这种平铺直叙的陈述。
    • GRAIn Vietnam, doctors in public hospitals see so many patients every morning that the hours become crazyThis so...that clause is the one more complex structure in the answer, and it appears only once, which fits 6.5's pattern of a single elevated sentence among otherwise short, plain ones. A 7.5 answer would fold this kind of result clause into a more compact construction.这个“so...that”从句是整篇回答中唯一一个较为复杂的结构,而且只出现了一次,这符合6.5分模式:在其他简短、平实的句子中,夹杂一个较为高级的句子。7.5分范文则会把这种结果从句折叠进更紧凑的结构中。
    • LRIt's also emotionally hard, because if something goes wrong, a real person suffers."emotionally hard" and "a real person suffers" are plain, direct word choices rather than a more specific collocation. A higher band would likely replace this with something like "the emotional weight is constant" to sound less like a simple description and more like a considered judgement.“emotionally hard”和“a real person suffers”是朴素、直白的用词,而不是更具体的搭配。更高分段很可能会用类似“the emotional weight is constant”这样的说法来替代,让它听起来不那么像简单的描述,而更像是经过深思熟虑的判断。
    7.0 分

The 7.0 answer opens with a spoken fragment after "Honestly" and builds one complex relative clause around the three-in-the-morning example.7.0分范文在“Honestly”之后接了一个口语化的片段作为开篇,并围绕“凌晨三点”这个例子构建了一个复杂的关系从句。

Honestly, difficult in ways that don't really show from outside. The doctor on my friend Ngọc's ward covers thirty patients overnight and has to make decisions at three in the morning that would take a committee a week — which says something about the pressure involved. The training is long and, to be fair, often brutal, and in Vietnam the hours can be absurd, with public-hospital doctors seeing dozens of patients in a single morning. I'd say the emotional side is just as demanding, since every failure is a real person, not a statistic.

    • FCHonestly, difficult in ways that don't really show from outside.Answering with a sentence fragment straight after "Honestly" instead of a full "I think it is difficult" sentence gives a natural, spoken rhythm typical of 7.0 fluency. A 6.5 answer would more likely use the complete, plainer sentence structure instead of this compressed opening.在“Honestly”之后直接用一个句子片段作答,而不是完整的“I think it is difficult”这样的句子,营造出一种7.0分典型的自然口语节奏。6.5分范文更可能会使用完整、平实的句子结构,而不是这种压缩式的开篇。
    • LRwhich says something about the pressure involvedThis is a mild, natural collocation used to comment on the previous clause rather than simply restating it, a small step beyond 6.5's plainer phrasing. It doesn't yet reach the more distinctive vocabulary a 7.5 answer would use in the same spot.这是一个温和、自然的搭配,用来评论前一句,而不是单纯地重述它,是比6.5分更平淡措辞略进一步的表现。但它还没有达到7.5分范文在同一位置会使用的那种更独特的词汇水平。
    • GRAhas to make decisions at three in the morning that would take a committee a weekThe relative clause "that would take a committee a week" adds a conditional-feeling comparison onto the main clause, producing one genuinely complex sentence. This is the kind of single elevated structure a 7.0 answer includes, without yet showing the more flexible, compressed grammar of 7.5.关系从句“that would take a committee a week”为主句增添了一种带有假设意味的比较,构成了一个真正复杂的句子。这正是7.0分范文会包含的那种单一的高级结构,但还没有展现出7.5分那种更灵活、更凝练的语法。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer fronts its opening clause, uses the idiomatic "reach for", and compresses two ideas into one flexible contrastive sentence.7.5分范文将开篇从句前置,使用了习语化表达“reach for”,并把两个想法压缩进一个灵活的对比句中。

Difficult in ways that don't show from outside, I'd say. The doctor on Ngọc's ward covers thirty patients overnight, makes decisions at three in the morning that would take a committee a week, and knows that behind every one is a family — and possibly a complaint, if it goes wrong. Training that long and that brutal would be hard enough on its own, but Vietnamese public-hospital hours push it further, with doctors seeing dozens of patients in a single morning. What makes it bearable, according to the ones I know, is that the work is unmistakably worth doing; "easy" isn't a word any of them would reach for.

    • FCDifficult in ways that don't show from outside, I'd say.Fronting the adjective phrase before the subject and tucking the hedge "I'd say" onto the end, rather than at the start, gives the opening a more flexible, considered rhythm than 7.0's simpler "Honestly, difficult..." pattern. This kind of reordering is characteristic of the more fluent 7.5 delivery.把形容词短语前置在主语之前,并把缓和语“I'd say”放在句末而不是句首,让开篇的节奏比7.0分那种更简单的“Honestly, difficult...”句式显得更灵活、更深思熟虑。这种语序调整正是7.5分更流畅表达方式的特征。
    • LR"easy" isn't a word any of them would reach for"reach for" used to mean "choose a word" is a genuinely idiomatic, less common collocation, well beyond the plainer "call it easy" of the 6.5 answer or "say it's easy" of a mid-level answer. This precision is exactly what separates 7.5 lexical resource from the merely correct vocabulary below it.“reach for”在这里用来表示“选择某个词”,是一个真正地道、较少见的搭配,远远超出了6.5分范文中更平淡的“call it easy”,或中等水平范文中的“say it's easy”。正是这种精确性,把7.5分的词汇运用能力与低分段那种仅仅正确的词汇区分开来。
    • GRATraining that long and that brutal would be hard enough on its own, but Vietnamese public-hospital hours push it furtherThis sentence compresses a conditional-feeling judgement ("would be hard enough on its own") with a contrasting clause joined by "but", giving one flexible, multi-part structure instead of two separate plain sentences. A 7.0 answer would more likely keep these as two shorter, separately linked ideas.这个句子把一种带有假设意味的判断(“would be hard enough on its own”)和一个用“but”连接的对比从句压缩在一起,形成一个灵活的多部分结构,而不是两个独立的平实句子。7.0分范文更可能会把这两个想法保留为两个较短、分别连接的部分。

No, I don't think so, at least not in my country. The doctor on Ngọc's public ward earns less money than I do for designing screens, and that seems strange when you think about the responsibility. But a private clinic across town charges a lot, so its doctors are rich. So doctors as a group are not paid too much, because of the training, the hours and the pressure. If anything, nurses like Ngọc are the ones who are paid too little.

    不,我不这么认为,至少在我的国家不是这样。玉所在公立病房的医生,挣的钱比我设计界面挣的还少,考虑到他们肩负的责任,这似乎有点奇怪。但城市另一头的一家私人诊所收费很高,所以那里的医生很富有。所以总体来说,医生这个群体并没有被过多支付薪水,因为考虑到培训、工作时间和压力这些因素。要说有什么问题的话,倒是像玉这样的护士,反而是薪水给得太少的那群人。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCNo, I don't think so, at least not in my country. The answer gives a direct yes/no position in the first sentence, immediately followed by "at least not in my country" to limit its scope, which is the simple, upfront structuring typical of 6.5 fluency. A 7+ answer would more likely delay the direct "no" with a softer framing first.这篇范文在第一句就给出了明确的是/否立场,紧接着用“at least not in my country”来限定其适用范围,这是6.5分流利度典型的简单、直白结构。7分以上的范文更可能会先用更柔和的框架来推迟这个直接的“no”。
    • GRAand that seems strange when you think about the responsibilityThis is a plain when-clause tacked onto the main sentence with "and", the one slightly extended structure in the answer. A 7.5 answer would more likely turn this into a fronted or reduced clause rather than adding it with a simple "and".这是一个用“and”附加在主句后面的平实“when”从句,是整篇回答中唯一一个略微扩展的结构。7.5分范文更可能会把它转化为前置从句或简化从句,而不是用简单的“and”来添加。
    • LRSo doctors as a group are not paid too much, because of the training, the hours and the pressure."the training, the hours and the pressure" is a simple listed reason using common nouns, rather than a more specific or evaluative phrase. A higher band would likely replace this list with a more precise judgement, such as "given what each of them is responsible for".“the training, the hours and the pressure”是用常见名词列出的简单理由,而不是更具体或更具评价性的短语。更高分段很可能会用一种更精确的判断来替代这份列表,比如“given what each of them is responsible for”。
    7.0 分

The 7.0 answer softens its correction with "Honestly" and links three ideas with "meanwhile... and" into one longer sentence.7.0分范文用“Honestly”来缓和其修正语气,并用“meanwhile... and”把三个想法连接成一个更长的句子。

Honestly, in my country it's mostly the opposite. The doctor on Ngọc's public ward earns less than I do for designing screens, which feels pretty absurd given what each of us is actually responsible for; meanwhile, a private clinic across town charges whatever it likes, and its doctors do well out of it. To be fair, given the training, the hours and the responsibility, I'd say doctors as a group aren't overpaid at all. What's worth questioning, though, is the gap within medicine itself — Ngọc earns a fraction of the doctor she works beside.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCHonestly, in my country it's mostly the opposite.Opening with "Honestly" to soften a fairly blunt correction of the question's premise is a natural spoken move typical of 7.0 fluency. A 6.5 answer would more likely just state "No, I don't think so" without this reflective framing.以“Honestly”开篇,来缓和对问题前提相当直接的修正,是7.0分流利度典型的自然口语手法。6.5分范文更可能会直接说“No, I don't think so”,而不加这种反思性的框架。
    • LRwhich feels pretty absurd given what each of us is actually responsible for"given what each of us is actually responsible for" is a more precise, evaluative phrase than 6.5's plain listed reason, showing a mild step up in natural collocation. It's not yet as compact or idiomatic as the phrasing a 7.5 answer would reach for in the same spot.“given what each of us is actually responsible for”是一个比6.5分那种平铺直叙的列举理由更精确、更具评价性的短语,展现出自然搭配上小小的进步。但它还没有7.5分范文在同一位置会使用的那种表达那样紧凑或地道。
    • GRAmeanwhile, a private clinic across town charges whatever it likes, and its doctors do well out of itLinking two clauses with "meanwhile" and then joining a further clause with "and" produces one longer, moderately complex sentence, which is the level of structural variety expected at 7.0. A 7.5 answer would likely compress this into a single sentence with a participial or reduced clause instead of three linked parts.用“meanwhile”连接两个分句,再用“and”连接第三个分句,构成了一个更长、中等复杂度的句子,这正是7.0分所要求的结构多样性水平。7.5分范文则很可能会把这压缩成一个带有分词结构或简化从句的单句,而不是三个连接起来的部分。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer opens with a compact fragment and builds a triple parallel "between X and Y" structure to compress a complex comparison.7.5分范文以一个简洁的片段开篇,并构建了一个三重并列的“between X and Y”结构,来压缩一个复杂的比较。

In my country, mostly the opposite, and the exceptions are instructive. The doctor on Ngọc's public ward earns less than I do for designing screens, which is absurd given what each of us is responsible for; across town, a private clinic charges whatever it likes, and its doctors are wealthy. Given the training, the hours and the responsibility, doctors as a group are hardly overpaid anywhere I know of. What's genuinely worth questioning is the gap within medicine — between public and private, between specialists and general practitioners, and between doctors and the nurses who do so much of the actual care; Ngọc, for instance, earns a fraction of the doctor she works beside.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCIn my country, mostly the opposite, and the exceptions are instructive.Answering with a compressed fragment rather than a full sentence, and immediately flagging that the exceptions matter, gives a confident, economical opening beyond 7.0's fuller "Honestly, in my country it's mostly the opposite." This kind of compact, idea-dense opening is characteristic of 7.5 fluency.用一个压缩的片段作答,而不是完整的句子,并立刻点明例外情况很重要,这营造出一种自信、简练的开篇,超越了7.0分更完整的“Honestly, in my country it's mostly the opposite.”这种紧凑、信息密度高的开篇正是7.5分流利度的特征。
    • LRdoctors as a group are hardly overpaid anywhere I know of"hardly overpaid" is a more precise, slightly understated way of making the same point as 7.0's "aren't overpaid at all", and "anywhere I know of" is a natural idiomatic hedge. This more nuanced phrasing is what separates 7.5 lexical resource from the plainer, more emphatic wording below it.“hardly overpaid”是一种更精确、语气略微收敛的说法,表达了和7.0分“aren't overpaid at all”相同的意思,而“anywhere I know of”则是一个自然、习语化的限定说法。正是这种更为细腻的措辞,把7.5分的词汇运用能力与下面更平淡、更强调的措辞区分开来。
    • GRAbetween public and private, between specialists and general practitioners, and between doctors and the nurses who do so much of the actual careThis triple parallel "between X and Y" structure, capped with a relative clause, compresses a complex comparison into one flexible sentence rather than three separate ones. Neither the 6.5 nor the 7.0 answer attempts this level of grammatical compression.这个三重并列的“between X and Y”结构,再以一个关系从句收尾,把一个复杂的比较压缩进一个灵活的句子里,而不是三个独立的句子。6.5分和7.0分范文都没有尝试过这种程度的语法压缩。

It depends on how it's taught, I think. In my primary school in Hue, we kept silkworms in trays for a whole term and everyone loved watching them eat and spin. But a year later, the same class was bored by diagrams of cells in a textbook. So biology can be really interesting because it's about our own bodies and animals, which children are naturally curious about. But if it's just names to memorise, it becomes boring fast.

    我想这取决于教学方式。在我顺化的小学里,我们整整一个学期都在托盘里养蚕,每个人都喜欢看它们吃桑叶、结茧。但一年后,同一个班的孩子却被课本里的细胞图解无聊得要死。所以生物课可以非常有趣,因为它讲的是我们自己的身体和动物,而孩子天生就对这些东西充满好奇。但如果只是死记硬背名词,它很快就会变得枯燥。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCIt depends on how it's taught, I think. The answer opens with a short, direct conditional statement of position, which is the plain, upfront structuring typical of 6.5 fluency. A 7+ answer would more likely open with a spoken hedge before stating the position this directly.这篇范文以一个简短、直接的条件性立场陈述开篇,这是6.5分流利度典型的平实、直白结构。7分以上的范文更可能会先用一个口语化的缓和语,再这样直接地陈述立场。
    • LRwe kept silkworms in trays for a whole term and everyone loved watching them eat and spin"loved watching them eat and spin" is simple, direct vocabulary describing the example without much colour. A higher band would likely use a more vivid or specific verb than "loved watching" to describe the same classroom scene.“loved watching them eat and spin”是简单、直白的词汇,用来描述这个例子,但缺乏色彩。更高分段很可能会用一个比“loved watching”更生动、更具体的动词来描述同一个课堂场景。
    • GRASo biology can be really interesting because it's about our own bodies and animals, which children are naturally curious about. This sentence adds a relative clause ("which children are naturally curious about") onto a because-clause, the one moderately complex structure in the answer. Honestly, it's interesting when it's alive and pretty dull when it's just a diagram. My primary class in Hue was fascinated by the trays of silkworms we kept for a term, watching them eat and spin; a year later, the same children were bored senseless by cell diagrams in a textbook. What kills it, to be fair, is teaching it purely by memorising names.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCHonestly, it's interesting when it's alive and pretty dull when it's just a diagram. The spoken hedge "Honestly" followed by a balanced "interesting when... dull when..." pattern gives a natural, reflective opening typical of 7.0. • LRthe same children were bored senseless by cell diagrams in a textbook"bored senseless" is a natural, moderately informal collocation stronger than 6.5's plain "bored", showing a mild step up in expressive vocabulary. It's not yet as precise or unusual as the phrasing a 7.5 answer would use in the same spot.“bored senseless”是一个自然、略带口语化的搭配,比6.5分平淡的“bored”语气更强,展现出表达性词汇上的小小进步。但它还没有达到7.5分范文在同一位置会使用的那种精确或不寻常的措辞。
    • GRAbiology is the science of the thing children are most curious about — their own bodies, animals, why things live and die — so the interest is there by defaultThis sentence uses a dash-set list inside a main clause followed by a "so" result clause, giving one longer sentence with internal structure. Being the science of the thing children are most curious about — their own bodies, animals, why things live and die — biology has built-in appeal that most subjects lack. What kills it is teaching by rote memorisation of names; taught through living things and a bit of dissection, it's the science most children end up loving.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCInteresting when it's alive, dull when it's a diagram — that's been my experience, anyway.Fronting the balanced contrast before the subject and closing with the understated tag "that's been my experience, anyway" gives a more compact, considered opening than 7.0's fuller "Honestly, it's interesting when..." sentence. I'd say it's easier at the start but not at the end. Biology was my best subject at school because it needed memory, and I could picture things easily, but physics needed maths I didn't have. So most students probably find biology easier at first, because it's about things you can see. The 7.0 answer opens with "Honestly" as a compact phrase, then builds a long while/semicolon/since sentence connecting the two halves of the argument.7.0分范文以简洁的“Honestly”短语开篇,随后构建了一个长句,用“while”、分号和“since”把论点的两个部分连接起来。

Honestly, easier to start and harder to finish, I'd say. Biology was my best science at school because it rewarded memory and I could picture it, while physics needed the maths I didn't have; most students probably find it more approachable for the same reasons, since it's about visible things rather than calculations. But it doesn't stay easy — Ngọc's nursing exams were just as hard as anything my physics-studying friends faced, because real biology involves chemistry, statistics and huge amounts of detail all at once. The easy reputation really comes from the school version.

    • FCHonestly, easier to start and harder to finish, I'd say.Opening with "Honestly" and framing the answer as a compact phrase rather than a full sentence, with "I'd say" tucked on afterward, gives a natural spoken rhythm typical of 7.0. A 6.5 answer would more likely state this as a complete, plainer sentence.以“Honestly”开篇,并把回答处理成一个简洁的短语,而不是完整的句子,再把“I'd say”附加在后面,营造出7.0分典型的自然口语节奏。6.5分范文更可能会把这个意思陈述为一个完整、更平实的句子。
    • LRit rewarded memory and I could picture it"rewarded memory" is a mild, natural collocation — treating a subject as something that gives credit for a skill — stronger than 6.5's plain "needed memory". It's a step toward more precise vocabulary without yet reaching 7.5's less common word choices.“rewarded memory”是一个温和、自然的搭配——把一门学科当作一种会对某种能力给予回报的东西——比6.5分平淡的“needed memory”更有力度。这是朝更精确词汇迈出的一步,但还没有达到7.5分那种较少见的用词水平。
    • GRAwhile physics needed the maths I didn't have; most students probably find it more approachable for the same reasons, since it's about visible things rather than calculationsThis links a while-clause to a second sentence-length clause via a semicolon, then adds a since-clause, producing one long, moderately complex structure. This is the kind of single elevated sentence expected at 7.0, without the further compression 7.5 would apply.这里用分号把一个“while”从句和第二个句子长度的从句连接起来,再加上一个“since”从句,构成了一个长而中等复杂的结构。这正是7.0分预期会出现的那种单一高级句子,但还没有7.5分会做的那种进一步压缩。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer leads with the contrast unhedged and fuses a participial phrase with a relative clause, plus the vivid word "gruelling".7.5分范文以未加缓和语的对比句开篇,并把分词短语和关系从句融合在一起,还使用了生动的词“gruelling”。

Easier to start and harder to finish, I'd say. Biology was my best science at school, rewarding memory rather than the maths physics demanded and which I simply didn't have, and most students find it more approachable for the same reason: it deals in visible things and asks for description before calculation. It doesn't stay easy, though — Ngọc's nursing exams were every bit as gruelling as anything my physics-studying friends faced, since real biology drags in chemistry, statistics and an enormous amount of detail, all of which has to be right at once. The reputation for being easy comes purely from the school version; at university it becomes the science with the most to know.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCEasier to start and harder to finish, I'd say.Leading immediately with the compact contrast phrase, without a hedge like 7.0's "Honestly" first, shows a more confident, economical opening. This tight framing followed straight by supporting detail is characteristic of 7.5 fluency.直接以简洁的对比短语开篇,不像7.0分那样先用“Honestly”这样的缓和语,展现出更自信、更简练的开篇方式。这种紧凑的框架紧接着支撑性细节,正是7.5分流利度的特征。
    • LRevery bit as gruelling as anything my physics-studying friends faced"gruelling" is a genuinely less common, more vivid word than 7.0's "just as hard" or 6.5's "as hard as", precisely capturing the exhausting nature of the exams. This kind of specific, slightly idiomatic vocabulary is what marks 7.5 lexical resource.“gruelling”确实是一个比7.0分的“just as hard”或6.5分的“as hard as”更少见、更生动的词,精准地捕捉到了考试那种令人筋疲力尽的性质。正是这种具体、略带习语色彩的词汇,标志着7.5分的词汇运用能力。
    • GRArewarding memory rather than the maths physics demanded and which I simply didn't haveThis uses a participial phrase ("rewarding memory...") fused with a relative clause, compressing what 6.5 and 7.0 both express as separate clauses joined by "because"/"and" into a single flexible unit. This kind of grammatical compression is distinctive of 7.5.这里使用了一个分词短语(“rewarding memory...”)与一个关系从句融合在一起,把6.5和7.0分范文都用“because”/“and”连接的独立从句表达的内容,压缩进一个灵活的单元中。这种语法压缩正是7.5分的特征。

Because everyone has a body, but most people don't really understand how it works. My uncle just follows whatever health advice he sees on his phone, because he can't judge if it's true or not. But my friend Ngọc, who is a nurse, can read a blood test and explain what it means. So understanding biology helps people eat well, sleep properly, and notice health problems early. It also helps people ask doctors better questions. I think it's a subject people actually use every day.

    因为每个人都有一个身体,但大多数人其实并不真正了解它是怎么运作的。我叔叔只会照着他手机上看到的任何健康建议去做,因为他没办法判断那些是真是假。但我那当护士的朋友玉,却能看懂一份验血报告,并解释它的意思。所以了解生物学能帮助人们吃得好、睡得好,并及早发现健康问题。它还能帮助人们向医生提出更好的问题。我认为这是一门人们实际上每天都在用到的学科。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCBecause everyone has a body, but most people don't really understand how it works. The answer opens by answering the "why" directly with a because-clause, immediately followed by a contrasting "but" clause, which is the clear, linear reasoning typical of 6.5 fluency. A 7+ answer would more likely open with a hedge before committing to this direct claim.这篇范文一开始就用一个“because”从句直接回答“为什么”,紧接着是一个对比性的“but”从句,这是6.5分流利度典型的清晰、线性推理方式。7分以上的范文更可能会先用一个缓和语,再给出这样直接的论断。
    • LRmy friend Ngọc, who is a nurse, can read a blood test and explain what it means"read a blood test and explain what it means" is plain, functional wording describing the skill. A higher band would likely replace this with a more vivid image, such as reading it aloud at the dinner table, to make the contrast with the uncle more memorable.“read a blood test and explain what it means”是描述这项技能的平实、功能性说法。更高分段很可能会用一个更生动的画面来替代,比如在餐桌上把结果念出来,让它与叔叔的对比更令人印象深刻。
    • GRASo understanding biology helps people eat well, sleep properly, and notice health problems early. This sentence lists three parallel verb phrases after "helps people", the one structurally varied sentence in the answer. A 7.5 answer would likely extend this list further and fold in additional clauses rather than keeping it to a simple three-item list.这个句子在“helps people”后面列出了三个并列的动词短语,是这篇回答中结构上唯一有变化的句子。7.5分范文很可能会进一步扩展这份列表,并把额外的从句折叠进去,而不是保持一个简单的三项列表。
    7.0 分

The 7.0 answer opens with "Honestly" and uses the natural image "read its manual", linking ideas with "whereas" and "and".7.0分范文以“Honestly”开篇,并使用了自然的比喻“read its manual”,用“whereas”和“and”来连接各个想法。

Honestly, it's because everyone has a body and most people can't really read its manual. My uncle follows whatever health advice reaches his phone, simply because he has no way of judging it, whereas Ngọc can read a family member's blood test and explain what actually matters — and I think that difference says a lot about the two lives. Understanding the body helps people eat sensibly, sleep, exercise, and notice symptoms early, and it protects against both fear and fraud. To be fair, it matters even more for parents and for people as they age.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCHonestly, it's because everyone has a body and most people can't really read its manual.Opening with "Honestly" softens what would otherwise be a blunt because-clause, giving the answer a reflective, spoken quality typical of 7.0. A 6.5 answer would more likely state the because-clause directly without this hedge.以“Honestly”开篇,缓和了原本会显得生硬的“because”从句,让整篇回答带上了7.0分典型的反思性、口语化的质感。6.5分范文更可能会不加这个缓和语,直接陈述“because”从句。
    • LRmost people can't really read its manual"read its manual" is a natural, mildly figurative collocation treating the body like an instruction booklet, more vivid than 6.5's plain "don't really understand how it works". It's an effective image without yet being as precise or unusual as 7.5's phrasing.“read its manual”是一个自然、略带比喻色彩的搭配,把身体比作一本使用说明书,比6.5分平淡的“don't really understand how it works”更生动。这是一个有效的比喻画面,但还没有达到7.5分措辞那样精确或不寻常。
    • GRAwhereas Ngọc can read a family member's blood test and explain what actually matters — and I think that difference says a lot about the two livesThis links a whereas-clause to a further "and" clause with a dash, building one long sentence with an embedded personal comment. This is the level of sentence-combining expected once at 7.0, without the further grammatical compression 7.5 would apply.这里用破折号把一个“whereas”从句和另一个“and”从句连接起来,构建了一个带有嵌入式个人评论的长句。这正是7.0分预期会出现一次的句子组合水平,但还没有7.5分会做的那种进一步的语法压缩。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer fronts its because-clause as a compact opener and attaches a trailing participial phrase ("guarding against...") to its list.7.5分范文把“because”从句前置作为简洁的开篇,并在列表末尾附加了一个分词短语(“guarding against...”)。

Because everyone has a body and hardly anyone can read its manual, I'd say. My uncle follows whatever health advice happens to reach his phone, having no way of judging it, whereas Ngọc can read a family member's blood test at dinner and explain what actually matters — and that difference, more than anything, separates the two lives. Understanding the body lets people eat sensibly, sleep, exercise, notice symptoms early and ask doctors sharper questions, guarding against fear and fraud alike. It matters most for parents making decisions about small bodies and for the elderly managing ageing ones; of everything taught at school, it's arguably the subject people lean on daily without noticing.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCBecause everyone has a body and hardly anyone can read its manual, I'd say.Fronting the because-clause as the whole opening, with "I'd say" appended at the end rather than at the start, gives a more compact and confident structure than 7.0's "Honestly, it's because..." opening. • LRguarding against fear and fraud alike"guarding against... alike" is a more compact, slightly literary construction than 7.0's plainer "protects against both fear and fraud", pairing precision with an unusual but natural word order. This is the kind of distinctive phrasing that marks 7.5 lexical resource.“guarding against... alike”是一个比7.0分更平淡的“protects against both fear and fraud”更紧凑、略带文学色彩的结构,把精确性与不寻常却自然的语序结合在一起。这正是标志着7.5分词汇运用能力的独特措辞。
    • GRAUnderstanding the body lets people eat sensibly, sleep, exercise, notice symptoms early and ask doctors sharper questions, guarding against fear and fraud alikeThis extends the parallel-list structure with a trailing participial phrase ("guarding against...") rather than a separate sentence, compressing two ideas into one flexible unit. Neither the 6.5 nor 7.0 answer attaches a participial clause onto its list in this way.这里用一个尾随的分词短语(“guarding against...”)来扩展并列列表结构,而不是用一个独立的句子,把两个想法压缩进一个灵活的单元中。6.5分和7.0分范文都没有以这种方式在列表后面附加分词从句。

The 6.5 answer gives a direct "yes" with one main reason and a plain description of company motives.6.5分范文给出一个直接的“yes”,配一个主要理由,并对企业动机做出朴实的描述。

Yes, I think so, because companies alone won't pay for the research that matters most. The vaccines that reached Ngọc's ward during the pandemic existed because governments paid for the early research, years before any company wanted to take the risk. Companies usually only research things that will sell, like drugs for rich patients, not diseases in poor countries. So public money fills this gap and creates knowledge everyone can use. Of course, the money should be spent carefully and checked properly.

    • FCYes, I think so, because companies alone won't pay for the research that matters most. The answer gives a direct "yes" followed immediately by its main reason in one sentence, which is the clear, upfront structuring typical of 6.5 fluency. A 7+ answer would more likely delay the flat "yes" with a reflective phrase first.这篇范文用一个句子直接给出“yes”,紧接着就是主要理由,这是6.5分流利度典型的清晰、直白结构。7分以上的范文更可能会先用一个反思性短语,来推迟这个平铺直叙的“yes”。
    • LRCompanies usually only research things that will sell, like drugs for rich patients, not diseases in poor countries."things that will sell" is plain, generic wording for commercial motive. A higher band would likely use a more specific business-sounding collocation, such as "research what will sell" paired with sharper contrast, to make the same point more precisely.“things that will sell”是描述商业动机的平淡、笼统说法。更高分段很可能会用一个更具商业色彩的具体搭配,比如“research what will sell”并配合更犀利的对比,来更精确地表达同样的观点。
    • GRAThe vaccines that reached Ngọc's ward during the pandemic existed because governments paid for the early research, years before any company wanted to take the risk. This sentence combines a relative clause with a because-clause and a trailing time phrase, the one clearly complex sentence in the answer. A 7.5 answer would likely compress this into a dash-set aside rather than a full chain of clauses.这个句子结合了一个关系从句、一个“because”从句和一个尾随的时间状语,是这篇回答中唯一明显复杂的句子。7.5分范文很可能会把它压缩成一个破折号插入语,而不是一整串从句。

Honestly, yes, because the market alone won't fund what matters most. The vaccines that reached Ngọc's ward during the pandemic existed because governments paid for the research years before any company would risk it, which I think says everything about where the incentives really lie. 为什么是这个分数

    • FCHonestly, yes, because the market alone won't fund what matters most.Opening with "Honestly, yes" gives a natural spoken confirmation before the reason, softer than 6.5's plain "Yes, I think so". This kind of conversational opener is typical of 7.0 fluency.以“Honestly, yes”开篇,在给出理由之前先做出一个自然的口语化确认,比6.5分平淡的“Yes, I think so”更柔和。这种对话式的开篇正是7.0分流利度的典型特征。
    • LRwhich I think says everything about where the incentives really lie"says everything about where the incentives really lie" is a moderately idiomatic evaluative phrase, going beyond 6.5's plainer explanatory style. It shows developing precision without yet reaching the more compact, unusual phrasing a 7.5 answer would use.“says everything about where the incentives really lie”是一个较为习语化的评价性短语,超越了6.5分更平淡的解释性文风。它展现出日渐精进的精确度,但还没有达到7.5分范文会使用的那种更紧凑、更不寻常的措辞。
    • GRACompanies tend to research what will sell — drugs for wealthy patients and chronic conditions — rather than diseases of poor countries or antibiotics that only get used onceThis uses a dash-set aside inside a rather-than structure to contrast two categories within one sentence, a moderately complex construction typical of 7.0. A 7.5 answer would likely push this compression even further by cutting connecting words.这里在一个“rather than”结构中使用了破折号插入语,在一个句子内对比了两个类别,是7.0分典型的中等复杂结构。7.5分范文很可能会通过削减连接词,把这种压缩推得更进一步。

Yes, because the market alone won't fund what matters most. The vaccines that reached Ngọc's ward during the pandemic existed only because governments had bankrolled the early, uncertain science years before any company would risk it — and that's true of almost all medicine at its roots. Companies research what will sell, meaning drugs for wealthy patients and chronic conditions rather than diseases of poor countries or antibiotics used once and shelved; public research fills that gap, produces knowledge everyone can build on, and gives the public some say in what actually gets studied in the first place. Spent well, with real priorities and honest evaluation, it's money a country can't really afford to withhold — leave medical research entirely to the market, and you end up with the medicine the market wants, not the medicine people need.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCYes, because the market alone won't fund what matters most.Answering with a single, unhedged "Yes, because..." sentence, more compact than 7.0's "Honestly, yes, because...", conveys confidence without needing the extra spoken filler. • LRhad bankrolled the early, uncertain science"bankrolled" is a distinctly less common, more precise verb than 7.0's "paid for" or 6.5's plainer phrasing, conveying financial backing with a slightly informal edge. This kind of specific, less obvious word choice is a hallmark of 7.5 lexical resource.“bankrolled”是一个明显比7.0分的“paid for”或6.5分更平淡措辞更少见、更精确的动词,以一种略带口语色彩的方式传达出资金支持的意味。这种具体、不那么显而易见的用词选择,正是7.5分词汇运用能力的标志。
    • GRASpent well, with real priorities and honest evaluation, it's money a country can't really afford to withholdThis opens with a fronted past-participial phrase ("Spent well...") before the main clause, compressing a conditional idea into the sentence opener rather than stating it as a separate clause the way the 6.5 and 7.0 answers do. Yes, I think that's true sometimes. Ngọc's ward is full of monitors that beep all night, and she often complains that the beeping takes her attention away from patients who actually need a hand held, not a machine watching them. Technology in health care is mostly good, like scans and records, but it can also pull attention away from the person. It also costs a lot of money that could be spent on staff instead. So technology helps, but it can replace some human care too.

    • FCYes, I think that's true sometimes. The answer opens with a short, direct "yes" that immediately limits itself with "sometimes", which is the plain, linear structuring typical of 6.5. A 7+ answer would more likely open with a specific image before stating this general agreement.这篇范文以一个简短、直接的“yes”开篇,并立即用“sometimes”来限定自己,这是6.5分典型的平实、线性结构。7分以上的范文更可能会先给出一个具体的画面,再陈述这个概括性的赞同意见。

A higher band would likely sharpen this contrast with a more specific or unexpected detail, such as naming what time of night it is.“a hand held”和“a machine watching them”是简单、直白的画面,没有太多额外的色彩。更高分段很可能会用一个更具体或更出人意料的细节来强化这种对比,比如点明具体是夜里几点。
    • GRANgọc's ward is full of monitors that beep all night, and she often complains that the beeping takes her attention away from patients who actually need a hand held, not a machine watching them. This long sentence chains a relative clause, an "and" clause, and a further relative clause together, the one clearly complex sentence in the answer. A 7.5 answer would likely break this into a sharper, more compressed structure instead of one long chain.这个长句把一个关系从句、一个“and”从句和另一个关系从句串联在一起,是这篇回答中唯一明显复杂的句子。7.5分范文很可能会把它拆分成一个更犀利、更凝练的结构,而不是一整条长链。

Honestly, not always, no. Ngọc's ward is full of monitors that beep all night, and her most common complaint is that the beeping calls her to a machine while the patient who actually needs her — frightened, confused, awake at three — needs a hand held, which no monitor can measure. Technology in health care is mostly positive, to be fair — scans, records, remote consultations — but it can pull attention from the person to the screen, and it can generate so much data that important things get lost. It also costs money that then isn't spent on staff.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCHonestly, not always, no. Answering with the compact fragment "Honestly, not always, no" rather than a full sentence gives a natural, conversational directness typical of 7.0 fluency. A 6.5 answer would more likely use the fuller sentence "Yes, I think that's true sometimes" instead.用简洁的片段“Honestly, not always, no”作答,而不是一个完整的句子,营造出7.0分典型的自然、对话式的直接感。6.5分范文更可能会使用更完整的句子“Yes, I think that's true sometimes”。
    • LRthe patient who actually needs her — frightened, confused, awake at three — needs a hand heldThe inserted dash-set list "frightened, confused, awake at three" adds vivid, specific detail beyond 6.5's plainer description, showing developing precision in word choice. It stops short of the single striking collocation a 7.5 answer would use in the same spot.插入的破折号列举“frightened, confused, awake at three”增添了比6.5分更平淡描述更生动、更具体的细节,展现出用词精确度上的进步。但它还没有达到7.5分范文在同一位置会使用的那种单一而醒目的搭配。
    • GRAit can pull attention from the person to the screen, and it can generate so much data that important things get lostThis links two parallel "it can..." clauses with "and", the second containing its own so...that result clause, producing one moderately complex sentence. This is the kind of single elevated structure expected at 7.0, without the further compression 7.5 would apply.这里用“and”连接了两个并列的“it can...”从句,第二个从句里还带有自己的“so...that”结果从句,构成了一个中等复杂度的句子。这正是7.0分预期会出现的那种单一高级结构,但还没有7.5分会做的那种进一步压缩。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer opens by naming Ngọc as the source and compresses three risks into one tight parallel list of verb phrases.7.5分范文一开篇就点明玉是观点的来源,并把三种风险压缩进一份紧凑的并列动词短语列表中。

Not always, no, and Ngọc would be the first to say so. Her ward is full of monitors beeping all night, and her most common complaint is that the beeping calls her to a machine while the patient who actually needs her — frightened, confused, awake at three — needs a hand held, which no monitor measures. Technology in health care is mostly a positive: scans, records, remote consultations, the app we built. But it can pull attention from the person to the screen, drown important signals in data, and replace judgement with protocols that don't fit the patient in front of you — and for older patients especially, a hospital full of machines can start to feel like a factory.

    • FCNot always, no, and Ngọc would be the first to say so.Answering with a compact "Not always, no" and immediately attributing the view to a specific person, rather than 7.0's more generic "Honestly, not always, no", grounds the opinion in a concrete voice straight away. This economical, source-anchored opening is characteristic of 7.5 fluency.用简洁的“Not always, no”作答,并立即把观点归于一个具体的人,而不是像7.0分那样用更笼统的“Honestly, not always, no”,这让观点从一开始就有了一个具体的、可信的声音来源。这种简练、有出处支撑的开篇正是7.5分流利度的特征。
    • LRreplace judgement with protocols that don't fit the patient in front of you"protocols that don't fit the patient in front of you" is a precise, slightly idiomatic image capturing a specific failure mode, more vivid than 7.0's more general "generate so much data that important things get lost". This kind of exact, evaluative phrasing marks 7.5 lexical resource.“protocols that don't fit the patient in front of you”是一个精确、略带习语色彩的画面,捕捉到了一种具体的失败模式,比7.0分更笼统的“generate so much data that important things get lost”更生动。正是这种精确、具有评价性的措辞,标志着7.5分的词汇运用能力。
    • GRAit can pull attention from the person to the screen, drown important signals in data, and replace judgement with protocols that don't fit the patient in front of youThis compresses three separate risks into one parallel list of verb phrases after a single "it can", rather than splitting them across two sentences the way the 7.0 answer does with "and it can generate...". This tighter parallel structure is distinctive of 7.5 grammar.这里把三种独立的风险压缩进一份并列的动词短语列表中,只用了一个“it can”,而不是像7.0分范文那样用“and it can generate...”把它们拆成两个句子。这种更紧凑的并列结构正是7.5分语法的特征。

    6.5 分

The 6.5 answer gives a direct "knowledge free, but someone pays" position joined by "but", using plain terms like "period of profit".6.5分范文给出一个直接的“知识免费,但总得有人付钱”的立场,用“but”连接,使用“period of profit”这类朴素的说法。

I think the knowledge should be free, but someone still has to pay for making it. During the pandemic, vaccine formulas stayed locked behind patents while countries like mine waited months, and people died in that time, which seems wrong to me. But companies spend billions of dollars, and without some period of profit, they might invent less. So I think discoveries paid for by the public should be free, but private companies should still be paid fairly, especially in emergencies.

    我认为知识应该是免费的,但总得有人为创造出这些知识买单。疫情期间,疫苗配方被锁在专利背后,像我们这样的国家要等上好几个月,而在这段时间里有人因此丧命,这在我看来是不对的。但企业要花费数十亿美元,如果没有一段时间的利润保障,他们可能会减少发明创造。所以我认为,由公共资金资助的发现应该是免费的,但私营企业仍应得到公平的报酬,尤其是在紧急情况下。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCI think the knowledge should be free, but someone still has to pay for making it.The answer states a balanced position directly in one opening sentence using "but", which is the clear, linear structuring typical of 6.5 fluency. A 7+ answer would more likely introduce this balance with a reflective phrase rather than stating it this flatly.这篇范文用一个开篇句子和“but”直接陈述了一个平衡的立场,这是6.5分流利度典型的清晰、线性结构。7分以上的范文更可能会用一个反思性短语来引出这种平衡,而不是这样平铺直叙地陈述。
    • LRBut companies spend billions of dollars, and without some period of profit, they might invent less."spend billions of dollars" and "invent less" are plain, direct phrases stating the counter-argument. A higher band would likely use a more specific business term, such as "exclusive profit", instead of the general "period of profit".“spend billions of dollars”和“invent less”是陈述反方论点的平实、直接短语。更高分段很可能会用一个更具体的商业术语,比如“exclusive profit”,而不是笼统的“period of profit”。
    • GRADuring the pandemic, vaccine formulas stayed locked behind patents while countries like mine waited months, and people died in that time, which seems wrong to me.This sentence chains a while-clause, an "and" clause, and a relative clause together, the one clearly complex sentence in the answer. A 7.5 answer would likely compress this into a sharper structure using a dash rather than three linked clauses.这个句子把一个“while”从句、一个“and”从句和一个关系从句串联在一起,是这篇回答中唯一明显复杂的句子。7.5分范文很可能会用破折号把它压缩成一个更犀利的结构,而不是三个连接起来的从句。
    7.0 分

The 7.0 answer opens with "Honestly" and a dash-set reframing, then builds a conditional "without... they'd..." sentence for the counter-argument.7.0分范文以“Honestly”和一个破折号重新框定开篇,随后为反方论点构建了一个“without... they'd...”的假设句。

Honestly, the knowledge should be free — the argument is really about who pays for producing it. During the pandemic, vaccine formulas stayed locked behind patents while countries like mine waited months, and people died in that gap, which strikes me as wrong at the level of principle. To be fair, the counter-argument is real: companies invest billions, and without some period of exclusive profit they'd probably invent less. I'd say discoveries funded by the public should be public, while private discoveries should still be shared at cost in emergencies.

    • FCHonestly, the knowledge should be free — the argument is really about who pays for producing it.Opening with "Honestly" and immediately reframing the question with a dash-set clarification shows a reflective, spoken quality typical of 7.0 fluency. A 6.5 answer would more likely state the balanced position directly without this reframing move.以“Honestly”开篇,并立即用一个破折号插入语重新框定问题,展现出7.0分典型的反思性、口语化质感。6.5分范文更可能会不加这种重新框定的手法,直接陈述平衡的立场。
    • LRwhich strikes me as wrong at the level of principle"strikes me as wrong at the level of principle" is a more precise, evaluative phrase than 6.5's plainer "seems wrong to me", showing developing lexical control. It's a step toward the more distinctive phrasing a 7.5 answer would use, without quite reaching it.“strikes me as wrong at the level of principle”是一个比6.5分更平淡的“seems wrong to me”更精确、更具评价性的短语,展现出日渐精进的词汇掌控力。这是朝7.5分范文会使用的那种更独特措辞迈出的一步,但还没有完全达到。
    • GRAcompanies invest billions, and without some period of exclusive profit they'd probably invent lessThis uses a conditional-feeling structure ("without... they'd probably...") joined by "and" to a first clause, producing one moderately complex sentence. This is the kind of single elevated construction expected once at 7.0.这里使用了一个带假设意味的结构(“without... they'd probably...”)并用“and”与前一个从句连接,构成了一个中等复杂度的句子。这正是7.0分预期会出现一次的那种单一高级结构。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer opens with a tight semicolon-joined reframing and closes with the precise contrastive line "not merely a commercial one".7.5分范文以一个紧凑的分号连接式重新框定开篇,并以精确的对比句“not merely a commercial one”收尾。

The knowledge, yes; the argument is really about who pays for producing it. During the pandemic, vaccine formulas stayed locked behind patents while countries like mine waited months, and people died in the gap — which strikes me as wrong at the level of principle. The counter-argument is real, though: companies pour in billions, and without some period of exclusive profit, they'd invent less. My own view is that discoveries funded by the public should be public, and that even private discoveries should be shared at cost in emergencies and for diseases of poor countries, with governments paying inventors fairly for that. A cure that exists and isn't available is a moral problem, not merely a commercial one.

    • FCThe knowledge, yes; the argument is really about who pays for producing it.Splitting the answer into two compact clauses joined by a semicolon, rather than 7.0's fuller "Honestly, the knowledge should be free — the argument is...", achieves the same reframing more economically. This tight, semicolon-joined opening is characteristic of 7.5 fluency.把回答拆分成用分号连接的两个简洁从句,而不是像7.0分那样用更完整的“Honestly, the knowledge should be free — the argument is...”,以更简练的方式实现了同样的重新框定。这种紧凑、分号连接的开篇正是7.5分流利度的特征。
    • LRA cure that exists and isn't available is a moral problem, not merely a commercial one"not merely a commercial one" is a precise, slightly formal contrastive phrase, sharper than 7.0's plainer statement of the same balance. This kind of exact, memorable closing distinction is typical of 7.5 lexical resource.“not merely a commercial one”是一个精确、略带正式的对比短语,比7.0分更平淡的同类平衡陈述更为犀利。这种精确、令人难忘的结尾式区分,正是7.5分词汇运用能力的典型特征。
    • GRAeven private discoveries should be shared at cost in emergencies and for diseases of poor countries, with governments paying inventors fairly for thatThis attaches a with-participial phrase ("with governments paying...") onto the end of the main clause, compressing an additional idea into the same sentence rather than starting a new one. Neither the 6.5 nor 7.0 answer uses this kind of trailing participial compression.这里在主句末尾附加了一个“with”分词短语(“with governments paying...”),把一个额外的想法压缩进同一个句子里,而不是另起一句。6.5分和7.0分范文都没有使用这种尾随式的分词压缩。
