The answer is clear and well-organised but relies on plain paired adjectives ('extremely happy and relieved') and clauses joined mainly with 'so' and 'but', typical of Band 6.5's simple sentence-building.

A time I saved money for something I really wanted was about two years ago, when I decided to buy a new motorbike, a Honda Vision. My old motorbike was quite old and kept breaking down, so I really wanted to replace it, but a new one cost around forty million dong, which was a lot for me.

To save up, I put aside a fixed amount from my salary every month and kept it in a separate bank account so I would not spend it by accident. I also reduced how often I went shopping on Shopee and stopped buying coffee outside so much, making it at home instead. My colleague Quan, who already had the same model, helped me compare prices at different shops before I bought it.

It took me about seven months in total to save enough money. When I finally bought the motorbike, I felt extremely happy and relieved. I remember riding it home for the first time and just feeling proud that I had saved up for it myself, instead of asking my parents for help. It also made me realise that I can reach a goal if I am patient and disciplined about saving, which is something I still try to remember now.

  • FCIt took me about seven months in total to save enough money. The timeframe is stated as a plain, direct fact, positioned as its own simple sentence rather than woven into a more reflective statement about the saving process. This kind of factual, unembellished reporting — clear, relevant, but structurally basic — is the typical development pattern at Band 6.5, where a 7.0 answer might instead connect the timeframe to a reason ('which took longer than expected because...'). It still functions well as a clear transition point in the story, moving from the saving method to the moment of purchase.
  • LRextremely happy and relievedTwo common emotion adjectives are paired and intensified with 'extremely' rather than being replaced by a single more specific word like 'triumphant' or 'relieved beyond words'. This strategy of stacking plain adjectives for emphasis, instead of varying the vocabulary itself, is a clear Band 6.5 signature. It does convey a believable double emotion — happiness at the purchase and relief that the saving effort worked — matching the story of finally buying the motorbike.
  • GRAMy old motorbike was quite old and kept breaking down, so I really wanted to replace it, but a new one cost around forty million dong, which was a lot for me.Several short ideas are chained together using only the two most basic connectors, 'so' and 'but', rather than being reorganised with subordination such as a reason clause or a relative clause on the price. This kind of long sentence built purely from coordination, with a small relative clause tacked onto the end ('which was a lot for me'), is characteristic of the accurate-but-simple grammar typical of Band 6.5. It still successfully explains the whole motivation for saving — an old motorbike breaking down, and a costly replacement — within one manageable sentence.

The collocation 'ate into my budget' and the reflective closing line about sticking to a savings plan give the answer more development than 6.5, while staying more matter-of-fact than 7.5's idiomatic vocabulary.

About a year ago, I set my mind on buying a proper camera - a Fujifilm mirrorless one - after getting more into photography during weekend trips around Da Nang. I'd been using my phone for ages, but I kept seeing the difference in photos my friend from the running club took, and I couldn't stop thinking about it. The camera I wanted cost close to fifteen million dong, which was more than I usually spend on anything.

To save up, I opened a separate savings account and transferred a fixed amount from my salary the moment I got paid, before I had the chance to spend it on anything else. I also cut down on eating out during the week and started packing lunch instead, which honestly saved more than I expected. On top of that, I sold an old laptop I wasn't using anymore, which gave the fund a decent boost.

It took me roughly five months in total, a bit longer than I'd hoped, mainly because a family event came up halfway through and ate into my budget for a while. When I finally had enough, I went straight to the shop after work and bought it that same afternoon rather than waiting even one more day.

Bringing it home felt genuinely satisfying. I spent that whole evening figuring out the settings and taking photos of pretty much everything in my apartment. More than the camera itself, I think what stuck with me was proving to myself that I could actually stick to a savings plan, which isn't something that comes naturally to me at all.

  • LRate into my budget'Ate into' is a natural collocation describing money being gradually consumed by unplanned spending, used instead of a plainer phrase like 'used up some of my money'. This kind of everyday-but-vivid collocation, one notch more specific than the flattest possible wording, is exactly the Band 7.0 target of a few flexible phrases among common vocabulary. It explains concretely why the saving process took five months rather than the shorter time originally hoped for, as mentioned in the same sentence.'Ate into'是一个自然的固定搭配,用来描述钱被计划外支出逐渐蚕食的过程,代替了'used up some of my money'这样平实的说法。
  • FCMore than the camera itself, I think what stuck with me was proving to myself that I could actually stick to a savings planThe answer closes with a brief reflective point rather than stopping at the factual outcome, showing fuller development than Band 6.5 while staying less elaborate than 7.5.
  • GRAbefore I had the chance to spend it on anything elseThe purpose-style subordinate clause 'before I had the chance to...' is attached smoothly to the main clause about transferring salary into savings, explaining the timing and motivation in a single fluent move rather than a separate sentence. This kind of naturally embedded subordination is part of the comfortable mix of complex grammar Band 7.0 targets, more ambitious than the simple coordination a 6.5 answer would use for the same idea. It makes the discipline behind the savings plan concrete — the transfer happens deliberately before temptation arrives.带目的意味的从属从句'before I had the chance to...'

The precise word 'giddy' for emotion and the contrastive close 'not just for getting the tablet, but for being patient and disciplined enough' show the natural vocabulary and reflective development typical of Band 7.5.用来表达情绪的精准词'giddy'(兴奋得有点晕乎乎)以及带有对比意味的结尾'not just for getting the tablet, but for being patient and disciplined enough'(不只是因为买到了平板电脑,更是因为自己足够有耐心、够自律),展现出Band 7.5典型的自然词汇和反思性发展。

A time when I saved up to buy something I really wanted was about a year and a half ago, when I decided to get myself a Wacom tablet for digital drawing. As a UI designer, I'd been using a pretty basic tablet for a while, but I kept seeing colleagues and artists on Dribbble using those fancy Wacom Intuos Pro tablets, and honestly, I couldn't stop thinking about all the things I could create if I had one. The only problem was, the price was pretty steep for me at the time-around eight million dong.

So, I started saving gradually. I set aside about half a million dong from each paycheck, and I also cut back on eating out-no more bánh xèo at that little restaurant near my apartment for a while. Sometimes I'd even skip the occasional café visit after work, which is tough in a city like Da Nang, honestly. I also sold a few old design books on Zalo to make a bit of extra cash. All in all, it took me about four or five months before I finally had enough.

The day I brought the tablet home, I felt almost giddy. I remember unboxing it by my living room window and immediately trying it out in Figma and Procreate. It was so smooth compared to my old setup. The lines were much more accurate, and I could experiment with pressure sensitivity, which felt amazing. I felt proud of myself, not just for getting the tablet, but for being patient and disciplined enough to save up. It made me appreciate the tool even more, and I still think of that every time I start a new project.

  • GRAhonestly, I couldn't stop thinking about all the things I could create if I had oneThe conditional 'if I had one' is embedded at the very end of a longer sentence built around 'couldn't stop thinking about all the things I could create,' rather than being stated as its own separate hypothetical sentence like 'If I had one, I could create so many things.' Folding the conditional naturally into the tail of a longer sentence, without it feeling grafted on, is the accurate complex grammar the Band 7.5 target rewards over the more clearly signposted conditional structures a 7.0 answer would use. The conversational filler 'honestly' at the start also keeps the sentence sounding like genuine spoken reflection rather than a scripted grammar demonstration.条件句"if I had one"被嵌入一个较长句子的最末尾,而这个句子是围绕"couldn't stop thinking about all the things I could create"构建起来的,而不是像"If I had one, I could create so many things."
  • LRfelt almost giddy'Giddy' is a more specific and less common word than 'happy' or 'excited,' capturing a particular kind of light-headed, almost overwhelmed excitement rather than a generic positive feeling, and the hedge 'almost' adds a note of self-aware exaggeration. Choosing this precise emotional vocabulary over a plainer alternative is exactly the Band 7.5 lexical target's expectation of 'several precise or less-common words... used naturally,' where a 7.0 or 6.5 answer would default to 'happy' or 'excited.' It also matches the physical, almost breathless description that follows — unboxing the tablet immediately by the window."Giddy"是一个比"happy"或"excited"更具体、更不常见的词,捕捉到一种头晕目眩、近乎不知所措的特定兴奋感,而不是一种笼统的正面情绪,而缓和语"almost"又增添了一丝自我觉察式的夸张意味。
  • FCI felt proud of myself, not just for getting the tablet, but for being patient and disciplined enough to save up.The sentence uses a 'not just X, but Y' structure to redirect the pride away from the material object itself and toward the process of saving — patience and discipline — which is a reflective reframing rather than a flat statement like 'I was really happy to finally have it.' That kind of evaluative contrast, distinguishing between what was achieved and how it was achieved, is the Band 7.5 coherence target's expectation of a developed reflective point rather than plain description. It also gives the whole anecdote a lasting lesson beyond the purchase itself, echoed in the final line about still thinking of that discipline 'every time I start a new project.' I was really happy to finally have it."

The 6.5 answer lists examples plainly ("a new phone, a motorbike, or a holiday") and closes with a simple direct statement, "what people save for shows their stage in life".6.5版本平实地列举了例子('a new phone, a motorbike, or a holiday'),并以简单直接的陈述'what people save for shows their stage in life'收尾。

People usually save money for big things, like a new phone, a motorbike, or a holiday. Younger people often save for gadgets or trips, while people my parents' age usually save for their children's education or for emergencies. I have been saving a little every month for a good camera, because photography has become a hobby of mine alongside my design work. I think what people save for shows their stage in life. A student might save for a laptop, while someone starting a family saves for furniture.

    • FCI think what people save for shows their stage in lifeThe plain, direct phrase "I think" opening the closing generalisation is the simplest possible way to introduce a final opinion, typical of the flat coherence expected at 6.5.
    • LRphotography has become a hobby of mine"A hobby of mine" is plain, functional vocabulary; a higher band would reach for a slightly more natural phrase like "a bit of a hobby", which the 7.0/7.5 versions use.'A hobby of mine'是平实、功能性的词汇;分数更高的回答会选用略微更自然的短语,比如'a bit of a hobby',这正是7.0/7.5版本用的说法。
    • GRAYounger people often save for gadgets or trips, while people my parents' age usually save for their children's education or for emergencies. This sentence uses a simple "while" contrast to compare two groups, a workable but basic structure compared to the more compressed phrasing at higher bands.

The 7.0 answer opens with the natural collocation "Big-ticket items" and adds the reflective intensifier "really reflects", a step beyond the plainer phrasing of the 6.5 answer.7.0版本以自然的搭配'Big-ticket items'开篇,并加入了反思性的加强语'really reflects',比6.5版本更平实的说法进了一步。

Big-ticket items mostly — a new phone, a motorbike, sometimes a holiday or a deposit for an apartment. Younger people I know tend to save for gadgets or trips, while people my parents' age usually save for their children's education or for emergencies. Personally, I've been putting a little aside every month toward a proper camera, since photography's become a bit of a hobby alongside my design work. I think what people save for really reflects their stage in life — a student might save for a laptop, while someone starting a family saves for furniture or a car.

    • FCPersonally, I've been putting a little aside every month toward a proper cameraThe personal marker "Personally" opening this sentence signals a natural spoken shift to a first-person reflection, something the 6.5 answer's flatter "I have been saving" opening doesn't include.
    • LRBig-ticket items mostly"Big-ticket items" is a natural, moderately idiomatic collocation for expensive purchases, a step up from the plain "big things" used at 6.5.'Big-ticket items'是一个自然、适度地道的搭配,用来指代昂贵的购买品,比6.5版本平实的'big things'进了一步。
    • GRAI think what people save for really reflects their stage in life — a student might save for a laptop, while someone starting a family saves for furniture or a car.The dash introducing an expanded illustrative clause after the generalisation is a slightly more developed way of building the sentence than the two separate simpler sentences used at 6.5.

The 7.5 answer uses the idiomatic "squirrelling away" and a fronted participial phrase, "photography having become something of a sideline hobby", closing with a compact evaluative touch about what a purchase "stands for".7.5版本用了地道的'squirrelling away',以及一个前置的分词短语'photography having become something of a sideline hobby',并以一段关于购买'stands for(代表什么)'的紧凑评价性收尾。

Big-ticket items, mostly — a phone, a motorbike, occasionally a holiday or a deposit on an apartment. Younger people I know save for gadgets and trips; my parents' generation saves for their children's education or for whatever emergency might come knocking. I've personally been squirrelling away a little each month toward a decent camera, photography having become something of a sideline hobby alongside my design work. What people save for, I'd argue, really maps onto their stage in life — a student saving for a laptop, someone starting a family saving for furniture or a car instead. It's rarely about the object itself; it's what that purchase stands for at that point in someone's life.

    • FCIt's rarely about the object itself; it's what that purchase stands for at that point in someone's lifeThe semicolon-joined, balanced closing sentence delivers a reflective final touch that neither lower band attempts, showing sophisticated, essay-like management of the answer's ending.
    • LRI've personally been squirrelling away a little each month toward a decent camera"Squirrelling away" is a genuinely vivid, idiomatic verb for saving small amounts, well beyond the plain "saving" or "putting aside" used at the lower bands.'Squirrelling away'是一个真正生动、地道的动词,用来表示一点点攒钱,远超低分版本使用的平实的'saving'或'putting aside'。
    • GRAphotography having become something of a sideline hobby alongside my design workThis participial phrase ("photography having become...") compresses an entire clause into a compact construction, avoiding the separate "since photography's become" clause used at 7.0.

The 6.5 answer states a direct "genuinely mixed" opinion, gives two plain contrasting examples with "Some... Others...", and closes with a simple "So" summary.6.5版本给出了直接的'genuinely mixed'观点,用'Some... Others...'

I think it is genuinely mixed, and it depends a lot on personality, not just income. Some of my colleagues spend almost all their money as soon as they get paid, on things like shoes or eating out. Others, like a coworker of mine, transfer a fixed amount of his salary into savings the moment it arrives, before he can spend it. I would say I lean more towards saving, but I still enjoy a nice dinner sometimes. So it is not really one or the other for most people.

    • FCSo it is not really one or the other for most peopleThe plain "So" opener on this closing sentence delivers the final restatement in the simplest possible way, typical of 6.5's direct, unembellished coherence.
    • LRspend almost all their money as soon as they get paid"Spend almost all their money" is plain, functional phrasing; a higher band would reach for a more vivid verb like "blow through", which the 7.5 version uses.'Spend almost all their money'是平实、功能性的表达;分数更高的回答会选用更生动的动词,比如'blow through',这正是7.5版本用的说法。
    • GRAOthers, like a coworker of mine, transfer a fixed amount of his salary into savings the moment it arrives, before he can spend it.This sentence adds detail with a simple inserted example ("like a coworker of mine") and a plain "before" clause, a workable but basic structure compared to higher-band phrasing.

The 7.0 answer adds the natural spoken hedge "honestly" and the idiom "the occasional splurge", a step beyond the plainer phrasing of the 6.5 answer.7.0版本加入了自然的口语缓和语'honestly',以及习语'the occasional splurge',比6.5版本更平实的说法进了一步。

I think it's genuinely mixed, and honestly depends a lot on personality rather than just income. Some of my colleagues spend almost everything as soon as they're paid, especially on things like new sneakers or eating out, while others, like a coworker of mine, transfer a fixed percentage of his salary straight into savings the moment it lands, before he can be tempted to spend it. I'd say I lean more towards saving, but I still enjoy the occasional splurge, like a nice dinner by the river. So it's more a matter of degree than an either-or thing.

Genuinely mixed, and it hinges more on personality than on income, if you ask me. Some colleagues blow through almost everything the moment they're paid, on new sneakers or eating out, while others, like a coworker who transfers a fixed slice of his salary straight into savings the second it lands, seem almost engineered to resist temptation. I lean toward saving myself, though I'll still indulge in the occasional splurge — a nice dinner by the river, say. So it's less an either-or than a sliding scale, and where someone sits on it can shift depending on their financial situation at any given time.

It often boils down to not having a clear goal, honestly. Without something specific to save toward, small purchases quietly add up — a daily coffee delivered instead of made at home, say — and nobody notices until the total is embarrassing. Plenty of people also grew up without ever being taught money habits, so budgeting feels alien rather than simply unfamiliar. And apps engineered for frictionless spending, one-tap checkout and all, hardly help matters; it's absurdly easy to buy something at midnight without giving it a second thought. My younger sister, who's at university in Ho Chi Minh City, told me some of her classmates only realised how expensive their monthly spending was once they actually reviewed their banking app.

    • FCand in some ways honestly noThe spoken filler "honestly" inserted into the balanced opening is a natural conversational marker the 6.5 answer's plainer opening sentence doesn't include.
    • LRjust numbers on a screen rather than physical cash"Physical cash" as a contrast to numbers on a screen is a moderately more precise phrase than the vaguer wording implied at 6.5 for the same idea.'Physical cash'作为屏幕上数字的对比,比6.5版本表达同一想法时暗含的更模糊的措辞,适度更精确。
    • GRABut because so much of that money is invisible, just numbers on a screen rather than physical cash, I actually think some children have a weaker sense of how much things really cost. This sentence embeds an appositive phrase ("just numbers on a screen rather than physical cash") inside the main clause, a more layered structure than the simpler two-part sentence used at 6.5.这句话在主句中嵌入了一个同位语短语('just numbers on a screen rather than physical cash'),比6.5版本更简单的两部分句子结构更有层次。

In some respects yes, in others, honestly, not really. Kids today grow up steeped in digital payments, so online transfers and app-based spending are second nature to them far earlier than they ever were to my generation. But with so much of that money reduced to invisible numbers on a screen rather than physical cash changing hands, some children may actually have a shakier grasp of what things genuinely cost. My younger sister, at university in Ho Chi Minh City, mentioned that several of her classmates only twigged how much they'd been spending once they actually sat down with their banking app. The tools have moved on; the underlying understanding hasn't necessarily kept pace.

    • FCThe tools have moved on; the underlying understanding hasn't necessarily kept paceThe semicolon-joined, balanced closing sentence delivers the final contrast with more sophistication than the plain "So the tools changed, but understanding did not necessarily improve" sentence used at 6.5. So the tools changed, but understanding did not necessarily improve'句,更精巧地传达了最后的对比。

I think this comes mostly from upbringing and personal experience. Someone raised in a family that struggled with money might become either very careful with money, or the opposite, spending freely once they finally have some. Culture also plays a role, in some families saving for the next generation is seen as a duty, while others think enjoying money while young is more important.

    • FCCulture also plays a role, in some families saving for the next generation is seen as a dutyThe plain additive connector "also" introducing a second factor is a basic, direct way of extending the argument, typical of 6.5's straightforward, one-point-at-a-time structure.

It largely traces back to upbringing and personal experience, I'd say. Grow up in a household that struggled financially, and you might end up either fiercely cautious with money or, just as plausibly, the opposite — spending freely the moment you finally have some to spend. Culture weighs in too: some families treat saving for the next generation as a duty, others prize enjoying money while young far more. Even my own friend group splits down the middle, half saving aggressively for property, the rest pouring money into experiences like travel instead. There's no single correct attitude here, just too many personal factors pulling in different directions.

    • FCBut money will probably always matter to some degree, because it pays for leisure activities like travelThe plain contrast connector "But" opening the final sentence delivers the closing qualification in the simplest way, typical of 6.5's direct, unembellished coherence.

I've watched younger colleagues turn down better-paying jobs with a punishing commute simply because they'd rather have their evenings free for hobbies, or a run along the beach. Should that trend continue, and should automation genuinely shrink the amount of work required, leisure time might well become the thing people actually compete for, rather than salary. Honestly, I struggle to picture that working at any real scale. Money exists precisely because it's such an efficient way of exchanging value between strangers who share nothing else in common to trade. Small communities can limp along on bartering — vegetables for a mended fence, say — but that arrangement collapses the moment something complex comes along, like paying for surgery or building a bridge. Money also lets people bank value for the future in a portable way no barter system could ever replicate. So while pockets of small-scale alternatives might survive for a while, a modern, interconnected society couldn't realistically run without some shared system of value like it.

States the hypothetical plainly: 'If someone had taught us to track expenses or set goals, I probably would have made better choices.' If someone had taught us to track expenses or set goals, I probably would have made better choices.'

Yes, I think schools should teach money management early. In secondary school in Hue, we never had lessons about saving or budgeting, so I learned everything the hard way. In grade eight, I spent most of my monthly allowance on comic books and snacks, so I couldn't afford new colored pencils I really wanted for art class. Parents matter too, but school is where most children spend their time, so basic financial skills there could make a big difference later.

Elaborates the conditional with a qualifying phrase: 'If someone had guided us on simple things like tracking expenses or setting goals, I probably would've made better choices.' If someone had guided us on simple things like tracking expenses or setting goals, I probably would've made better choices.'

Honestly, I really think schools should teach kids about managing money early on. When I was in secondary school in Hue, we never had lessons about saving or budgeting, so I learned everything the hard way. In grade eight, for instance, I spent most of my monthly allowance on comic books and snacks at the school gate, which meant I couldn't afford the new colored pencils I really wanted for art class. If someone had guided us on simple things like tracking expenses or setting goals, I probably would've made better choices. Of course, parents play a role too, but school is where most kids spend their time, so even basic financial skills could matter a lot later.

Uses the inverted conditional for a more sophisticated hypothetical: 'Had someone guided us through something as simple as tracking expenses or setting goals, I'd probably have made far better choices.' Had someone guided us through something as simple as tracking expenses or setting goals, I'd probably have made far better choices.'

I'd say schools absolutely should teach kids about managing money early on, and the gap I lived through proves why. In secondary school in Hue, we never had a single lesson on saving or budgeting, so I learned everything the hard way. In grade eight, for instance, I blew most of my monthly allowance on comic books and snacks at the school gate, which meant I couldn't afford the colored pencils I'd been longing for in art class. Had someone guided us through something as simple as tracking expenses or setting goals, I'd probably have made far better choices. Parents obviously play a role too, of course, but school is where most children actually spend their time, so even basic financial skills taught there could shape decisions for years afterward.

I think people save for specific things because those items have special meaning, or maybe they're just too expensive on a normal salary. I'd say people mostly save for specific things either because those items carry some special meaning, or simply because they're out of reach on a regular salary. For me, saving turns the eventual purchase into something closer to an achievement. About a year ago, for instance, I set my sights on a pair of noise-cancelling headphones, because my open-plan office turns unbearably noisy the moment everyone's on calls at once. I started tucking away a little from each paycheck, even skipping my usual cà phê sữa đá runs for a couple of months. When I finally bought them, I appreciated the headphones far more than I ever would have on impulse. So I'd say the whole act of saving quietly converts a simple purchase into something you've genuinely earned.

Closes with a plain 'So' sentence: 'So even with the best intentions, saving is still hard in real life.' So even with the best intentions, saving is still hard in real life.'

I think many people find it hard to save because it takes a lot of self-control, especially now that spending is so easy. For example, my colleague Phuong always plans to save part of her salary each month, but then a sale appears on Shopee or she sees something nice at Vincom Mall, and she ends up spending more than planned. I can relate, because temptations are everywhere, from food delivery apps to TikTok ads. Also, unexpected costs, like motorbike repairs, can ruin good plans. So even with the best intentions, saving is still hard in real life.

Yes, I think spending habits are quite different between generations. My grandmother in Hue is very thrifty — she reuses gift wrapping paper and keeps old jars for storage, which always seemed a bit funny to me growing up. Many of my younger friends in Da Nang, including me, spend more on things like café hopping and online shopping. Last summer, my friend Trang impulsively bought a portable speaker just because she found a good deal online, while her parents would think twice before buying anything unnecessary. I guess younger people value convenience and trends more, while older people stay cautious.

    • FCI guess younger people value convenience and trends more, while older people stay cautious.Closes with the plain hedge 'I guess'. 7.0 removes any closing summary sentence entirely, ending instead on the anecdote, and 7.5 restores a closing summary but replaces 'I guess' with the slightly more assertive 'I suspect'.
    • LRvery thriftyPlain, common adjective. 7.0 intensifies with 'extremely thrifty', and 7.5 upgrades further to the more vivid 'thrifty to the point of art'. 7.0版本用'extremely thrifty'加强了语气,7.5版本进一步升级成了更生动的'thrifty to the point of art'。
    • GRAMy grandmother in Hue is very thrifty — she reuses gift wrapping paper and keeps old jars for storage, which always seemed a bit funny to me growing up.A dash introduces a list of two habits followed by a relative clause. 7.0 lengthens the list slightly with 'or', and 7.5 keeps the dash structure but adds a vivid metaphor beforehand.

Ends directly on the anecdote instead of a separate closing summary sentence.

Honestly, yes, I do think spending habits are quite different between generations, especially in my own experience. For example, my grandmother in Hue is extremely thrifty — she'll even reuse gift wrapping paper or keep old jars for storage, which always seemed a bit funny to me growing up. On the other hand, a lot of my younger friends in Da Nang, including myself, are much more likely to spend on experiences like café hopping or online shopping, especially on platforms like Shopee. I remember last summer when Trang, a close friend from work, impulsively bought a portable speaker just because she found a good deal online, while her parents would probably think twice before buying anything non-essential.

    • FCI remember last summer when Trang, a close friend from work, impulsively bought a portable speaker just because she found a good deal online, while her parents would probably think twice before buying anything non-essential.Ends the answer directly on the anecdote rather than restoring a separate closing summary sentence like 6.5's 'I guess...'. 7.5 restores a closing summary sentence after a similar anecdote, giving a more complete, rounded final structure.
    • LRextremely thriftyA stronger intensifier than 6.5's plain 'very thrifty'. 7.5 goes further still with the vivid metaphor 'thrifty to the point of art'. 7.5版本更进一步,用了生动的比喻'thrifty to the point of art'。
    • GRAmy grandmother in Hue is extremely thrifty — she'll even reuse gift wrapping paper or keep old jars for storage, which always seemed a bit funny to me growing upAdds 'even' and replaces 'and' with 'or' in the list, a small but real elaboration on 6.5's sentence. 7.5 keeps the dash structure but reframes the opening clause with a more vivid metaphor before it.

Restores a closing summary with a fuller causal clause: 'while older generations stay cautious out of habits formed when money was tighter.'恢复了结尾总结,并加入了一个更完整的因果从句:'while older generations stay cautious out of habits formed when money was tighter.'

I'd say yes, spending habits genuinely differ across generations, at least going by my own family. My grandmother in Hue is thrifty to the point of art — she'll reuse gift wrapping paper or hoard old jars for storage, habits that always struck me as a little funny growing up. My younger friends in Da Nang, myself very much included, lean instead towards spending on experiences: café hopping, online shopping, the odd Shopee splurge. Last summer, for instance, my friend Trang impulsively bought a portable speaker the moment she spotted a good deal online, whereas her parents would almost certainly have thought twice before buying anything non-essential. I suspect younger people simply chase convenience and trends more readily, while older generations stay cautious out of habits formed when money was tighter.

    • FCI suspect younger people simply chase convenience and trends more readily, while older generations stay cautious out of habits formed when money was tighter.Restores a closing summary sentence, like 6.5, but replaces 'I guess' with the more assertive 'I suspect' and adds a fuller causal clause than either 6.5's bare claim or 7.0's decision to skip a summary altogether.
    • LRthrifty to the point of artA vivid, idiomatic metaphor replacing 6.5's plain 'very thrifty' and 7.0's intensified-but-still-literal 'extremely thrifty', showing genuine figurative control.
    • GRAMy younger friends in Da Nang, myself very much included, lean instead towards spending on experiences: café hopping, online shopping, the odd Shopee splurge.Uses a colon to introduce a compact, fragment-style list rather than a full coordinated sentence, a more economical, native-like structure than 6.5's or 7.0's fuller listing sentences.
