6.5 分

The answer uses simple, clear sentences such as 'so there were no surprises later' to explain why the service felt good, staying plain and direct throughout, typical of Band 6.5.这段回答用'so there were no surprises later'这类简单清楚的句子来解释为什么这次服务让人满意,全篇保持朴实、直接的风格,是Band 6.5的典型表现。

I can think of a time about two months ago when I got really good service at a small phone repair shop near Vincom mall in Da Nang. I went there one evening because my phone screen had cracked after I dropped it on the floor at home.

The shop is quite small, with only three or four staff, but it looked clean and organized. A young woman named Vy helped me first. She checked my phone carefully and explained that the screen needed a full replacement. She also told me the price clearly before starting, so there were no surprises later.

While she was fixing it, she let me wait inside instead of standing outside, and even offered me a bottle of water. It only took about forty minutes, which was faster than I expected. Afterward, she tested everything, like the camera and the speaker, to make sure it worked properly before I paid.

I felt really satisfied with the service, because Vy was honest, quick, and friendly the whole time. Many small shops just want you to pay and leave, but this one felt different. I would definitely go back there if I have any phone problems again.

  • LRVy was honest, quick, and friendly the whole timeThree common adjectives are simply listed to summarise the whole service experience, rather than being replaced by a more precise phrase like 'professional and transparent' that could capture the same idea in fewer, sharper words. This list-of-plain-adjectives strategy is a very typical Band 6.5 move — it's an efficient, safe way to cover several points at once without risking a word the speaker isn't sure of. It does accurately reflect the story just told: the clear pricing, the fast forty-minute repair, and the offer of water while waiting.三个常见形容词被简单地罗列出来,用以概括整个服务体验,而不是换成一个更精确的短语,比如'professional and transparent',用更少但更犀利的词捕捉同样的意思。这种罗列平实形容词的策略是非常典型的6.5分做法——这是一种高效、安全地一次性覆盖多个要点的方式,而不必冒险使用说话者没有把握的词。它确实准确反映了刚讲述的故事:清晰的报价、四十分钟内完成的快速维修,以及等待时提供的饮水。
  • GRAso there were no surprises laterThe clause is attached with the basic result connector 'so', reporting a simple consequence of the shop explaining the price upfront rather than being folded into a more complex structure, such as a participial phrase. This is accurate, natural spoken grammar, but it's built from the most elementary connector available, which is exactly the ceiling expected at Band 6.5. It closes the point about pricing transparency cleanly, even if plainly.这个从句用最基础的结果连接词'so'接上,报告了店家事先说明价格所带来的一个简单结果,而不是把它嵌入更复杂的结构里,比如分词短语。这是准确、自然的口语语法,但它是用现成的最基础连接词搭建的,恰好是6.5分所期待的那个上限。它干净利落地——尽管平实——收束了关于价格透明度的这一点。
  • FCI would definitely go back there if I have any phone problems again. The story ends with a direct, single-clause statement of intent rather than a reflective comment on what made the shop stand out compared with others. This kind of flat, functional conclusion — clear but not evaluative — is typical of how Band 6.5 answers close out a Part 2 story, in contrast to a 7.0+ answer that might explicitly compare it to a bad experience elsewhere. It's still a fitting wrap-up, directly following on from the comment about the shop 'feeling different' just before it.这个故事以一句直接的、单一从句的意图陈述结尾,而不是对是什么让这家店与众不同做出反思性评论。这种平淡、功能性的结尾——清楚但不带评价——是6.5分答案结束Part 2故事的典型方式,与之相对的是7.0+分的答案可能会明确地与别处的糟糕经历作比较。它依然是一个恰当的收尾,紧接在前面提到这家店'感觉不一样'的评论之后。
7.0 分

The answer develops the story with a specific contrast ('rather than just telling me they were out') and a reflective closing line about the shop's attentiveness, giving it the natural, moderately developed quality of Band 7.0.这段回答通过一个具体的对比('rather than just telling me they were out')来展开故事,并以一句关于店家用心程度的反思性评论收尾,呈现出Band 7.0那种自然、有一定展开深度的特质。

I can think of a time about three months ago when I got really good service at an art supply shop just off Nguyen Van Linh street in Da Nang. I went in one afternoon because I needed a specific type of marker for a client presentation, and my usual online order hadn't arrived in time.

The shop is fairly small, with maybe four staff working there, but everything is neatly organised by brand and colour. A staff member called Linh noticed me looking a bit lost and came over to ask what I needed. When I explained the situation, she actually checked their stock room herself rather than just telling me they were out, and she managed to find almost the exact set I was after.

While she was looking, she also suggested an alternative brand that she said designers often prefer for blending, and let me test a couple of colours on some scrap paper before I decided. It only took about fifteen minutes in total, which was a relief since I was already running late.

Before I paid, she double-checked that all the markers in the box were working properly, which I really appreciated because I'd had a bad experience before with dried-out pens. I left the shop feeling genuinely grateful, and honestly a bit surprised, since most staff usually just point you toward a shelf and let you figure it out yourself.

That kind of attentiveness made a real difference, and it's why I still go back to that shop whenever I need art supplies, even though there are cheaper options online.

  • GRAshe actually checked their stock room herself rather than just telling me they were out'Rather than + verb-ing' packages two contrasting actions — actively checking the stock room versus simply telling the customer the item was unavailable — into one accurate subordinate clause instead of two separate sentences. A Band 6.5 answer would likely state these as two plain sentences loosely joined with 'but', losing the implied comparison; a 7.5 answer might nest this contrast inside an even longer sentence with an extra qualifying clause. Here it lands cleanly in one breath, matching 7.0's 'comfortable mix of simple and complex, generally accurate' grammar, and it's the specific detail that turns 'good service' into a real story.'Rather than + verb-ing' 把两个形成对比的动作——主动去查库房,和干脆告诉顾客缺货——打包进一个准确的从属分句里,而不是拆成两个独立的句子。Band 6.5 的答案很可能会把这些说成两个用 'but' 松散连接的平实句子,从而丢失了暗含的比较;Band 7.5 的答案可能会把这种对比嵌套进一个更长的句子中,再加一个附加的限定从句。这里它一气呵成地干净落地,符合 Band 7.0 简单句与复合句自如混合、总体准确的语法特征,也正是这个具体细节,把 good service 变成了一个真实的故事。
  • LRa bit lost'A bit lost' pairs the softening hedge 'a bit' with a plain adjective to describe visible confusion, rather than a bare single word like 'confused' (more typical of 6.5) or a more vivid image like 'clearly out of her depth' (more typical of 7.5). The hedge is what makes it sound like natural spoken English rather than a written description, which is exactly the flexible-but-common vocabulary 7.0 rewards. It's also the trigger for the whole story: this is the moment staff member Linh notices the customer and steps in.'A bit lost' 把缓和语 'a bit' 与一个平实的形容词搭配起来,描述肉眼可见的困惑,而不是像 'confused' 这样单纯的一个词(更典型于 Band 6.5),也不是像 'clearly out of her depth' 这样更生动的意象(更典型于 Band 7.5)。正是这个缓和语,让它听起来像自然的口语英语,而不是书面描述,这恰恰是 Band 7.0 所奖励的灵活但常见的词汇。它也是整个故事的触发点:这正是员工 Linh 注意到顾客并上前帮忙的那一刻。
  • FCThat kind of attentiveness made a real differenceThis closing line abstracts the concrete narrative — checking the stock room, testing markers, double-checking the pens — into a single evaluative noun phrase, 'that kind of attentiveness,' signalling to the listener that a reflective wrap-up is coming. A 6.5 answer would likely end on a flat fact ('I was happy with the service'); a 7.5 answer might push further into an explicit comparison with worse service elsewhere. This natural, unforced synthesis of example into general point is the coherence marker 7.0 targets, and it sets up the final sentence about why the speaker still returns to that shop.

The precise contrast 'they genuinely cared about helping, not just making a sale' and the varied sentence openings throughout show the flexible grammar and evaluative stance of Band 7.5.精准的对比'they genuinely cared about helping, not just making a sale',加上全篇多样化的句子开头方式,展现出Band 7.5灵活的语法运用和评价性立场。

Sure, I can think of a time about four or five months ago when I received really good service at a small electronics store on Le Duan street in Da Nang. I went there after work because my wireless mouse had suddenly stopped working, and I needed a replacement quickly for a client project I was finishing that week.

The shop isn't one of those big chain stores - it's more like a local spot with maybe five or six staff, but it's always clean, and they have a decent selection of gadgets. When I walked in, a young staff member named Ha greeted me right away. She asked what I was looking for and listened carefully while I explained my needs - I wanted something reliable for design work, not just a cheap basic mouse. She actually took out a few models and let me test them on one of their demo laptops, which I really appreciated because the feel is important for my job. She even offered to open a sealed box so I could get a better sense of the grip and the clicks.

After I picked one, Ha showed me how to set up the Bluetooth connection, and made sure it worked with my phone as well, just in case I needed to pair it with a different device. She was patient, friendly, and never pushed me to buy the most expensive option. I left the shop feeling relieved and honestly quite impressed.

It made a difference because so many stores just rush you along, but here I felt like they genuinely cared about helping, not just making a sale. That experience definitely made me want to go back the next time I need any tech gear.

  • LRnever pushed me to buy the most expensive option"Push" here works as a light causative verb ("push someone to do something") rather than a stronger option like "force," giving an idiomatic register that mirrors how native speakers actually describe pushy sales tactics. A Band 6.5 answer would likely settle for the flatter "she didn't try to sell me expensive things"; this phrasing carries the same meaning through a natural collocation instead of literal wording. It also sets up the payoff later in the answer -- "so many stores just rush you along" -- where the same idea of pressure recurs in a different natural collocation, showing the vocabulary isn't a one-off.
  • GRAShe asked what I was looking for and listened carefully while I explained my needs - I wanted something reliable for design work, not just a cheap basic mouseThis sentence stacks a coordinated pair ("asked... and listened...") with a subordinate while-clause, then uses a dash to attach a further, unsubordinated elaboration rather than starting a new sentence -- a punctuation-driven structure a Band 6.5 or 7.0 answer would more likely split into two or three short sentences. Every clause stays anchored to "she" and "I" without ambiguity despite the length, which is exactly the mostly error-free control the 7.5 descriptor asks for. It also delivers a concrete specification ("reliable for design work, not just a cheap basic mouse") inside the same breath, rather than as an afterthought.这句话把一对并列结构("asked... and listened...")与一个while从属从句叠加在一起,再用破折号接上一段没有从属关系的补充说明,而不是另起一句——这种依靠标点驱动的结构,6.5或7.0水平的答案更可能拆成两三句短句。尽管句子较长,每个分句始终清晰地锚定在"she"和"I"上,毫不含糊,这正是7.5分描述语所要求的那种基本无错的掌控力。它还在同一口气里给出了一个具体的要求("reliable for design work, not just a cheap basic mouse"),而不是事后才补上的想法。
  • FChere I felt like they genuinely cared about helping, not just making a saleRather than simply restating that the service was good, this line draws an explicit contrast between two motives -- caring versus selling -- which is the kind of interpretive judgment the 7.5 fluency descriptor calls for beyond plain narration. A 6.5 or 7.0 answer would likely stop at a fact like "the staff were very helpful"; here the speaker instead explains why the encounter mattered, converting a description of an event into a stated takeaway. It also directly answers the implicit "why" behind the whole story, closing the loop with the earlier complaint about stores that "rush you along".

There are many jobs like that, retail staff, waiters, bank tellers, hairdressers, and even delivery drivers who hand packages to customers. Basically any job where you talk to people who are not your colleagues counts. In my work as a UI designer, I mostly talk to clients, but our office receptionist talks to couriers, visitors and clients all day. 为什么是这个分数

    • FCBasically any job where you talk to people who are not your colleagues countsThe plain filler "Basically" introducing a generalisation is a simple, direct discourse move typical of 6.5, rather than a more natural spoken hedge like "honestly" or "essentially".平实的填充词'Basically'引出了一个概括,是6.5分典型的简单、直接的语篇手法,而不是像'honestly'或'essentially'这样更自然的口语缓和语。
    • LRchange her tone all the time"Change her tone" is plain, functional vocabulary; a higher band would reach for a more specific verb like "switch register", which the 7.5 version uses instead.'Change her tone'是平实、功能性的词汇;分数更高的回答会选用更具体的动词,比如'switch register',这正是7.5版本用的说法。
    • GRAShe has to change her tone all the time, being formal with a foreign client and then friendly with a Grab driver. This sentence strings two ideas together with a simple "being... and then..." pattern, a basic coordinated structure rather than a more compact construction.这句话用一个简单的'being... and then...'模式把两个想法串联在一起,是一种基础的并列结构,而不是更紧凑的构造。

The 7.0 answer opens with the spoken hedge "honestly" and adds the reflective aside "I've noticed it takes a completely different skill set from mine", a small personal observation beyond the 6.5 answer's flatter description.7.0版本以口语缓和语'honestly'开篇,并加入了反思性的插入语'I've noticed it takes a completely different skill set from mine',比6.5版本更平淡的描述多了一点个人化的观察。

Loads of them, honestly — retail staff, waiters, bank tellers, hairdressers, even delivery drivers who hand packages straight to customers. Basically any job where you're face-to-face or on the phone with people who aren't your colleagues counts. 为什么是这个分数

    • FCLoads of them, honestlyThe spoken filler "honestly" tucked after "Loads of them" signals natural conversational fluency, something the 6.5 answer's plainer opening list doesn't include.口语填充词'honestly'藏在'Loads of them'之后,标志着自然的对话流畅度,这是6.5版本更平实的开头列表所没有的。
    • LRa completely different skill set from mine"Skill set" is a moderately natural collocation, a step above the very general "more difficult than people usually think" used to close the 6.5 answer.'Skill set'是一个适度自然的搭配,比6.5版本结尾用的非常笼统的'more difficult than people usually think'进了一步。
    • GRAI mostly deal with clients rather than the general public, but our office receptionist talks to couriers, visitors and clients all day, and I've noticed it takes a completely different skill set from mine. This sentence links a contrast ("rather than") with an added observation ("and I've noticed..."), a moderately complex chain of clauses beyond the simpler two-sentence version at 6.5.这句话把一个对比('rather than')和一个附加的观察('and I've noticed...')连接起来,是一条比6.5版本更简单的两句话版本更复杂的从句链条。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer uses the precise verb "fields" for handling visitors and closes with the idiomatic "more demanding than people give it credit for", both marks of the vivid, slightly idiomatic phrasing expected at the top band.7.5版本用了精确的动词'fields'来表示应付访客,并以地道的'more demanding than people give it credit for'收尾,这两者都体现出最高分段应有的那种生动、略带地道色彩的措辞。

Plenty of them — retail staff, waiters, bank tellers, hairdressers, even the delivery drivers who hand a package straight into someone's hands. 为什么是这个分数

    • FCit's frankly more demanding than people give it credit forThe idiomatic closing phrase "give it credit for" delivers the final judgment with more sophistication than the plain "I think it is more difficult than people usually think" at 6.5, showing confident discourse control right to the last sentence.地道的结尾短语'give it credit for',比6.5版本平实的'I think it is more difficult than people usually think'更精巧地传达了最后的判断,展现出直到最后一句都很自信的语篇掌控力。
    • LRour office receptionist fields couriers, visitors and clients all day long"Fields" used for handling a stream of people is a genuinely less-common, precise word choice, well beyond the plain "talks to" repeated at the lower bands.'Fields'用来表示应付川流不息的人群,是一个真正较不常见、精确的用词选择,远超低分版本反复使用的平实的'talks to'。
    • GRAShe switches register constantly — formal with a foreign client one minute, chatting easily with a Grab driver the next — and it's frankly more demanding than people give it credit for.The dash-marked list compressed into the middle of the sentence, followed by a coordinated closing clause, is a more flexible, compact construction than the simpler "being X and then Y" pattern used at 6.5.用破折号标示、压缩在句子中间的列表,后面接一个并列的结尾从句,比6.5版本更简单的'being X and then Y'模式更灵活、更紧凑。

I think quick thinking helps too"), a simple additive structure typical of the band.6.5版本逐一列举了各种品质('Patience is... Clear communication also matters... I think quick thinking helps too'),是这个分数段典型的简单叠加结构。

Patience is probably the most important quality, because not every customer will be polite. Clear communication also matters, explaining things simply without sounding rude. I think quick thinking helps too. Last month I ordered a phone case on Shopee and it arrived in the wrong colour, and the seller solved it in under ten minutes by sending a replacement without asking me to return the wrong one first. That showed good problem-solving. On top of this, genuine warmth makes a big difference, because customers can usually tell when someone is not sincere.

    • FCI think quick thinking helps tooThe plain additive phrase "helps too" tacked onto a short sentence is a basic way of listing another quality, rather than integrating it more smoothly into the flow of the answer.平实的叠加短语'helps too'附加在一个短句上,是列举另一种品质的基础方式,而不是把它更顺畅地融入回答的语流中。
    • LRThat showed good problem-solving"Good problem-solving" is plain, general vocabulary; a higher band reaches for a more specific phrase like "real problem-solving instinct", which the 7.0/7.5 versions use.'Good problem-solving'是平实、笼统的词汇;分数更高的回答会选用更具体的短语,比如'real problem-solving instinct',这正是7.0/7.5版本用的说法。
    • GRALast month I ordered a phone case on Shopee and it arrived in the wrong colour, and the seller solved it in under ten minutes by sending a replacement without asking me to return the wrong one first. This long sentence strings three ideas together with repeated "and", a basic coordination pattern rather than the more varied clause structures used at higher bands.这个长句用重复的'and'把三个想法串联在一起,是一种基础的并列模式,而不是高分段用的更多样的从句结构。

Patience is probably number one, I'd say, because not every customer is going to be polite or reasonable. Clear communication matters too — explaining things simply without sounding condescending. A bit of quick thinking helps as well; when I ordered a phone case through Shopee last month and it arrived in the wrong colour, the seller I messaged solved it in under ten minutes by just sending a replacement, without making me return the wrong one first, which showed real problem-solving instinct rather than just following a script. On top of that, genuine warmth makes a huge difference too.

    • FCPatience is probably number one, I'd sayThe trailing spoken hedge "I'd say" attached to an otherwise plain statement is a natural conversational marker the 6.5 answer's flatter opening sentence doesn't include.尾随的口语缓和语'I'd say'附加在一个原本平实的陈述上,是一个自然的对话标记,这是6.5版本更平淡的开头句所没有的。
    • LRreal problem-solving instinct rather than just following a script"Following a script" as a contrast to genuine instinct is a moderately natural collocation, a step above the vaguer "good problem-solving" used at 6.5.'Following a script'作为真正本能的对比,是一个适度自然的搭配,比6.5版本更模糊的'good problem-solving'进了一步。
    • GRAwhich showed real problem-solving instinct rather than just following a scriptThis trailing non-finite clause ("which showed...") attached to the long sentence adds a layer of evaluation beyond what the 6.5 answer manages, which simply states "That showed good problem-solving" as a separate sentence.这个附加在长句末尾的非限定从句('which showed...'),比6.5版本简单地用独立句子说'That showed good problem-solving'多了一层评价。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer uses the idiomatic "tops the list" and "runs a close second" to rank qualities, and closes with the precise collocation "an outsized difference", showing the deliberate, vivid word choice expected at the top band.7.5版本用了地道的'tops the list'和'runs a close second'来给各种品质排序,并以精确的搭配'an outsized difference'收尾,展现出最高分段应有的那种用心、生动的选词。

Patience probably tops the list, since not every customer arrives polite or reasonable. Clear communication runs a close second — explaining things simply without ever sounding condescending. Quick thinking counts for a surprising amount too: when a phone case I'd ordered through Shopee turned up in the wrong colour last month, the seller I messaged had it sorted in under ten minutes, firing off a replacement without making me return the wrong one first — real problem-solving instinct, not just a script being read out. Beyond all that, genuine warmth makes an outsized difference, because customers can generally spot when someone's being nice purely out of obligation.

    • FCPatience probably tops the list, since not every customer arrives polite or reasonableThe idiomatic ranking phrase "tops the list" replaces the plain "is probably the most important quality" used at 6.5, giving the answer a more natural, spoken-yet-precise opening.地道的排序短语'tops the list'取代了6.5版本平实的'is probably the most important quality',给回答带来了一个更自然、既口语化又精确的开头。
    • LRgenuine warmth makes an outsized difference"Outsized" is a genuinely less-common, precise word choice for describing a disproportionately large effect, well beyond the plain "a big difference" or "a huge difference" used at the lower bands.'Outsized'是一个真正较不常见、精确的用词选择,用来描述一种不成比例的巨大影响,远超低分版本使用的平实的'a big difference'或'a huge difference'。

The 6.5 answer opens with the direct opinion "Yes, definitely" and links its example plainly with "while", closing on a short, simple final sentence.6.5版本以直接的观点'Yes, definitely'开篇,并用'while'平实地连接了它的例子,以一句简短、简单的结尾句收尾。

Yes, definitely, I do not think it should be optional. Even naturally friendly people can improve with training on things like handling complaints calmly or following clear steps, so every customer gets the same good service. I once called my internet provider about a billing error, and the first staff member gave me the wrong information, while the second one, who was clearly better trained, fixed it in one call. This gap shows that training is not always applied the same way. Without it, a company's reputation depends on luck.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCWithout it, a company's reputation depends on luckThis short final sentence, opened with the basic connective "Without it", delivers the closing point in the plainest way available, typical of 6.5's direct, unembellished coherence.这个简短的结尾句,以基础的连接词'Without it'开头,用最平实的方式给出了结尾的要点,是6.5分那种直接、不加修饰的连贯性的典型代表。
    • LRthe first staff member gave me the wrong information"Gave me the wrong information" is a plain, functional description; a higher band would reach for a more vivid phrase like "completely wrong information", which the 7.0/7.5 versions use.'Gave me the wrong information'是一个平实、功能性的描述;分数更高的回答会选用更生动的短语,比如'completely wrong information',这正是7.0/7.5版本用的说法。
    • GRAthe first staff member gave me the wrong information, while the second one, who was clearly better trained, fixed it in one callThis sentence uses a plain "while" contrast and a simple relative clause ("who was clearly better trained"), a workable but basic structure compared to higher-band phrasing.这句话用了一个平实的'while'对比和一个简单的定语从句('who was clearly better trained'),是一种能用但比较基础的结构,相较于高分段的表达方式。

Definitely, yes, I don't think it should be optional. Even naturally friendly people can benefit from training on things like handling complaints calmly or following consistent procedures, so customers get a reliable experience no matter who they talk to. I remember calling my internet provider about a billing error, and the first staff member gave me completely wrong information, while the second one, clearly better trained, resolved it in one call and even explained how to avoid it happening again. That gap in quality shows training isn't evenly applied. Without it, a company's reputation basically comes down to luck.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCcustomers get a reliable experience no matter who they talk toThe phrase "no matter who they talk to" adds a natural spoken qualification to the claim, something the 6.5 answer's flatter "so every customer gets the same good service" doesn't attempt.短语'no matter who they talk to'给论断增添了一个自然的口语限定,这是6.5版本更平淡的'so every customer gets the same good service'没有尝试做的。

The 7.5 answer opens with the idiomatic "shouldn't even be up for discussion" and closes with the fronted imperative construction "Skip it, and a company's reputation ends up resting on pure luck", a compact structure well beyond the plain final sentence at 6.5.7.5版本以地道的'shouldn't even be up for discussion'开篇,并以前置的祈使句结构'Skip it, and a company's reputation ends up resting on pure luck'收尾,这是一个比6.5版本平实的结尾句更紧凑的结构。

Definitely — I'd say it shouldn't even be up for discussion. Even the naturally friendly benefit from training on things like handling complaints calmly or sticking to consistent procedures, so a customer gets the same standard of service whoever picks up the phone. I once called my internet provider about a billing error and got completely wrong information from the first person I spoke to, only for the second, evidently far better trained, to sort it in a single call and explain how to avoid it next time. That gap alone tells you training isn't applied evenly. Skip it, and a company's reputation ends up resting on pure luck.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCI'd say it shouldn't even be up for discussionThe idiomatic phrase "up for discussion" delivers the opening stance with more force and naturalness than the plain "I do not think it should be optional" used at 6.5, right from the first sentence.地道的短语'up for discussion',比6.5版本平实的'I do not think it should be optional',从第一句话开始就更有力、更自然地传达了开篇的立场。

Larger companies, especially the ones hiding behind call centres, can be painfully slow — I once waited over a fortnight for an airline to so much as acknowledge an email about a delayed refund. Part of the problem, I suspect, is that big companies pile on so many layers of process that a simple complaint gets lost somewhere along the way. • FCSpeed, in the end, comes down to how much bureaucracy stands between you and whoever can actually fix thingsFronting the abstract noun "Speed" before its own clause is a more essay-like, sophisticated way of delivering the final generalisation than the plainer "I think the problem is" opening at 6.5.把抽象名词'Speed'前置在它自己的从句之前,比6.5版本更平实的'I think the problem is'开头,更像论文式、更精巧地传达了最后的概括。

When a blender of mine arrived with the jug already cracked, the shop swapped it out that same afternoon, no photos, no lengthy explanation required — and that one small interaction built more trust in the brand than a product that had simply worked flawlessly from day one ever would. Make the process complicated, and companies risk losing customers for good, even over a fairly trivial manufacturing slip.

Quality control at the manufacturing stage is the obvious first step, but I think listening to customer feedback matters just as much. Many problems happen again simply because companies do not track complaints carefully. Quality control at the manufacturing stage is the obvious starting point, but I think listening to feedback matters just as much. A lot of issues repeat simply because companies don't track complaints properly. At the studio where I work, we now run user testing before releasing any app update, specifically because a client once launched a payment feature without enough testing and it crashed for a chunk of users in the first week, which was expensive and embarrassing to fix afterwards. Regular staff training also helps reduce human error over time. Basically, prevention comes down to catching small issues early.

    • FCBasically, prevention comes down to catching small issues earlyThe closing summary phrase "comes down to" manages the final generalisation a little more naturally than a flat repeated statement would, showing comfortable, if still fairly plain, discourse control.结尾的总结短语'comes down to',比平淡重复的陈述更自然地处理了最后的概括,展现出虽然仍相当平实、但从容的语篇掌控力。
    • LRa chunk of users in the first week"A chunk of users" is a moderately natural, informal collocation, a step above the vaguer "many users" used at 6.5.'A chunk of users'是一个适度自然、非正式的搭配,比6.5版本更模糊的'many users'进了一步。
    • GRAa client once launched a payment feature without enough testing and it crashed for a chunk of users in the first week, which was expensive and embarrassing to fix afterwardsAttaching the trailing non-finite clause "which was expensive and embarrassing to fix afterwards" folds the evaluation into the same sentence as the example, rather than the separate short sentence the 6.5 answer uses for the same idea.附加了尾随的非限定从句'which was expensive and embarrassing to fix afterwards',把评价融进了和例子同一句话里,而不是像6.5版本那样用独立的短句表达同一想法。
    7.5 分

Quality control at the manufacturing stage is the obvious starting point, though listening properly to feedback matters just as much, if not more. A striking number of problems simply recur because companies fail to track complaints with any rigour. At the studio where I work, we now run thorough user testing before shipping any app update — a lesson learned the hard way after a client once launched a payment feature without enough testing, and it crashed for a chunk of users within the first week, an expensive, faintly embarrassing mess to clean up afterwards. Regular staff training chips away at human error too. Prevention, essentially, is about catching the small stuff before a customer ever notices it.

    • FCPrevention, essentially, is about catching the small stuff before a customer ever notices itFronting the abstract noun "Prevention" before its own clause is a more sophisticated, essay-like way of delivering the final generalisation than the flatter "Basically, prevention comes down to..." phrasing at 7.0.把抽象名词'Prevention'前置在它自己的从句之前,比7.0版本更平淡的'Basically, prevention comes down to...',更精巧、更像论文式地传达了最后的概括。
    • LRwe now run thorough user testing before shipping any app update — a lesson learned the hard way"A lesson learned the hard way" is a genuinely idiomatic phrase capturing the whole backstory in a few words, well beyond the plainer "specifically because" clause used at 7.0.'A lesson learned the hard way'是一个真正地道的短语,用寥寥数语就概括了整个来龙去脉,远超7.0版本更平实的'specifically because'从句。
    • GRAit crashed for a chunk of users within the first week, an expensive, faintly embarrassing mess to clean up afterwardsEnding the sentence with an appositive noun phrase ("an expensive, faintly embarrassing mess to clean up afterwards") instead of a full "which was..." clause is a more compressed, flexible construction than the version used at 7.0.以一个同位语名词短语('an expensive, faintly embarrassing mess to clean up afterwards')来结束句子,而不是一个完整的'which was...'从句,比7.0版本用的说法更凝练、更灵活。

Cultural differences are a big challenge, because a marketing message that works in one country might be confusing or even offensive in another. Legal and tax rules are also very different, so companies need local knowledge to operate correctly. At my work, we sometimes build apps for overseas clients, and things like address formats or payment methods need to be completely rebuilt for different markets. What works for a Vietnamese user with an e-wallet does not always suit someone in Europe. Currency changes and shipping also add difficulty.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCCurrency changes and shipping also add difficultyThis short, separate final sentence simply adds two more factors with "also", the plainest way of extending a list, typical of 6.5's basic, additive coherence.这个简短、独立的结尾句,用'also'简单地加入了两个额外因素,是延伸列表最平实的方式,是6.5分那种基础的叠加式连贯性的典型代表。

Cultural differences are a big one — a marketing message that works in one country can be confusing or even offensive somewhere else. Legal and tax regulations also vary hugely, so companies need local expertise just to operate correctly. I've seen this at work, since we occasionally build apps for overseas clients, and something as simple as address formats or payment methods needs to be rebuilt entirely for different markets, because what works for a Vietnamese user with an e-wallet won't necessarily suit someone in Europe. Currency fluctuations and shipping logistics add another layer of difficulty too.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCI've seen this at work, since we occasionally build apps for overseas clientsThe causal connector "since" opening this clause is a slightly more natural way of introducing a reason than the plainer "At my work, we sometimes..." opening used at 6.5.因果连接词'since'开启了这个从句,比6.5版本更平实的'At my work, we sometimes...'开头,略微更自然地引出了理由。

Cultural differences loom large — a marketing message that lands perfectly in one country can come across as baffling, even offensive, somewhere else entirely. Legal and tax regulations vary just as wildly, so local expertise becomes non-negotiable rather than a nice-to-have. I've watched this play out at work, since we occasionally build apps for overseas clients, and something as basic as address formats or payment methods often needs rebuilding from scratch for a different market — what suits a Vietnamese user reaching for an e-wallet won't necessarily fit someone in Europe at all. Currency swings and shipping logistics pile on yet another layer of headache. Expanding abroad is rarely a simple copy-paste of what worked back home.

    • FCCultural differences loom largeThe vivid verb "loom large" opening the answer replaces the plain "are a big challenge" used at 6.5, giving the very first sentence a more evocative, confident register.生动的动词'loom large'开启了整个回答,取代了6.5版本平实的'are a big challenge',让第一句话就带上了更有感染力、更自信的语域。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCThis is a small example, but it shows something biggerThe plain contrast connector "but" linking two short clauses is the most basic way of signalling a shift from specific example to general point, typical of 6.5's direct coherence.平实的对比连接词'but'连接了两个短从句,是标示从具体例子转向总体观点最基础的方式,是6.5分那种直接连贯性的典型代表。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCExtremely important, I'd say, because unhappy staff rarely deliver their best workThe trailing hedge "I'd say" attached to the opening judgment is a natural conversational marker absent from the 6.5 answer's flatter, unhedged opening statement.尾随的缓和语'I'd say'附加在开头的判断上,是一个自然的对话标记,这是6.5版本更平淡、没有缓和语的开头陈述所没有的。

Hugely important, I'd argue, because unhappy staff rarely put their best work forward, and that shortfall inevitably filters through to how customers get treated. At my studio, something as small as a better coffee machine and slightly more flexible hours last year noticeably shifted how willing people were to stay late and polish a design rather than shove it out the door half-finished. A minor example, but it points to something larger — genuinely motivated employees care about the outcome itself, not merely ticking the task off. Companies that overlook staff wellbeing tend to pay for it in turnover, which drains money into retraining and chips away at the consistency customers actually notice.

To some extent, yes, especially in an industry like mine where technology changes all the time. Companies that do not adapt, using old software for example, eventually lose to faster and more creative competitors. But I do not think innovation always means inventing something completely new. 为什么是这个分数

For example, last month I bought a running watch at an electronics shop near Vincom Mall, and the staff explained the different models and helped me set up the app. This shows that shop staff need good communication skills and patience. But jobs like banking, hospitality, and healthcare also need a lot of customer contact. Even my own job as a UI designer needs this sometimes, because I have to explain my designs clearly to clients.

For example, when I bought a running watch at the electronics shop near Vincom Mall last month, the staff were genuinely helpful explaining the different models and setting up the app on my phone, which made me realise retail staff really do need strong communication skills and patience. I'd say almost any job built around sales or support ends up meaning customer contact, and it stretches well beyond the obvious cases of shops and call centres. When I bought a running watch at the electronics shop near Vincom Mall last month, the staff patiently talked me through the different models and set up the app on my phone — which drove home just how much communication skill and patience retail work actually demands, especially with customers who aren't particularly tech-savvy. Banking, hospitality and healthcare all run on the same kind of interaction, arguably more intensely. Even my own work as a UI designer, hardly a face-to-face role, still demands responsiveness and clarity whenever I present designs to clients overseas — just conducted through a screen instead of a counter.

Last weekend I went to Vincom Plaza near the Han River with a friend from work purely to unwind after a busy week, and the place was packed — though not everyone was there to buy anything at all; some were parked in the food court, others were queuing for the cinema, and whole families were simply strolling around soaking up the air conditioning. To be honest, Da Nang's summer heat can be brutal, so having one comfortable indoor space where you can eat, shop and just exist for a few hours is a draw that smaller shops or online stores can't begin to match.

    • FCthe place was packed — though not everyone was there to buy anything at allUses a dash before 'though' and adds the intensifier 'at all', giving a sharper, more emphatic contrast than 7.0's plain comma-linked 'though' clause.在'though'前用了破折号,并加入了加强语'at all',比7.0版本用逗号连接的平实的'though'从句,对比更犀利、更有力。

I think shopping in small shops has both good and bad points. On the good side, you get more personal service. For example, last month I went to a small stationery shop near Han Market to buy sketchbooks, and the owner, Mrs. Linh, took time to recommend the right paper for my needs. It felt more thoughtful than a big chain. On the bad side, small shops often have less choice and sometimes higher prices, because they can't get bulk deals like big stores. But if you want a friendly atmosphere and honest advice, small shops are hard to beat.

I'd say shopping in small shops is a genuine trade-off rather than a clear win or loss. On the plus side, the service turns personal in a way big chains rarely manage — last month I popped into a small stationery store near Han Market for sketchbooks, and the owner, Mrs. Linh, took the time to talk me through different types of paper based on what I actually needed, which felt worlds more thoughtful than anything a chain would offer. On the downside, small shops often carry a limited selection and charge slightly more, simply because they can't match the bulk deals bigger stores negotiate. Still, if a friendly atmosphere and genuinely knowledgeable advice matter to you, that little stationery shop is hard to beat, bulk discounts or not.

Tacks the concession onto the anecdote itself: 'but at least the return process was straightforward.'把让步附加在了小故事本身上:'but at least the return process was straightforward.'

Honestly, I'd say online shopping is incredibly convenient, especially for someone like me who works long hours and doesn't always have time for physical stores. You can compare prices, read reviews, or place an order late at night — it's just more flexible. For example, last month I ordered a compact desk lamp on Shopee while waiting for a client call at home, and it arrived in Da Nang two days later, which saved me a lot of hassle. On the downside, though, you can't actually see or touch the product before you buy it, so the quality sometimes isn't quite what you expect. I did get a lamp with a slightly different shade than pictured, but at least the return process was straightforward.

    • FCI did get a lamp with a slightly different shade than pictured, but at least the return process was straightforward.Replaces 6.5's separate closing summary sentence with a single 'but at least' clause tacked onto the anecdote itself, a more integrated coherence move. 7.5 keeps a similar structure but restores an explicit final summarising sentence.把6.5版本独立的结尾总结句替换成了附加在小故事本身上的单一'but at least'从句,这是一个更融合的连贯手法。7.5版本保留了类似的结构,但恢复了一句明确的结尾总结句。
    • LRwhich saved me a lot of hassle'Hassle' is a more natural, slightly informal upgrade over 6.5's plain 'time'. 7.5 keeps 'hassle' but pairs it with the more vivid verb 'sparing'.'Hassle'比6.5版本平实的'time'是一个更自然、略微更非正式的升级。7.5版本保留了'hassle',但把它和更生动的动词'sparing'搭配了起来。
    • GRAit's just more flexibleA short independent clause attached after a dash, more integrated than 6.5's relative clause ending in 'which is flexible'. 7.5 extends this same dash-led pattern with an explicit comparative clause.一个附加在破折号之后的简短独立从句,比6.5版本以'which is flexible'结尾的定语从句更融合。7.5版本用一个明确的比较从句延伸了这个由破折号引导的模式。

Restores an explicit closing summary, expanded: 'In the end, it's a trade-off between convenience and certainty.'恢复了一句明确的结尾总结,并作了扩展:'In the end, it's a trade-off between convenience and certainty.'

I'd say online shopping is a genuine time-saver, especially for someone like me who works long hours and rarely has the spare time for physical stores. You can compare prices, trawl through reviews, or place an order at midnight — it's simply more flexible than anything a shop with fixed hours can offer. Last month, for instance, I ordered a compact desk lamp on Shopee while stuck waiting for a client call at home, and it turned up in Da Nang two days later, sparing me a fair bit of hassle. The catch, though, is that you can't see or touch the product before committing, so quality occasionally falls short of expectations — I ended up with a lamp a shade darker than pictured, though at least the return process was painless. In the end, it's a trade-off between convenience and certainty.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCIn the end, it's a trade-off between convenience and certainty.Restores an explicit closing summary, like 6.5, but expands the bare noun pair 'convenience versus certainty' into the fuller, more natural phrase 'a trade-off between convenience and certainty', while 7.0 had dropped a closing summary altogether.像6.5版本一样恢复了明确的结尾总结,但把裸露的名词对'convenience versus certainty'扩展成了更完整、更自然的短语'a trade-off between convenience and certainty',而7.0版本完全去掉了结尾总结。
    • LRsparing me a fair bit of hassle'Sparing' is a more vivid, slightly literary verb than 7.0's plainer 'saved', showing a small but real step up in precision.'Sparing'是一个比7.0版本更平实的'saved'更生动、略微更文学化的动词,展现出精确度上虽小但真实的提升。

Ends with a bare 'But'-led concession: 'But if people spend without saving, that could cause problems too.'以单独的'But'引出的让步收尾:'But if people spend without saving, that could cause problems too.'

Yes, I think consumption can drive economic growth, especially when people have more money to spend. For example, last year a new electronics shop opened near Vincom Plaza, and it was quiet at first. But during the back-to-school season, it became very busy — parents and students were buying laptops and tablets. I talked to the manager, Ms. Ha, who said sales had doubled and they hired two more staff. When people buy more, it also helps suppliers, delivery workers, and nearby restaurants. But if people spend without saving, that could cause problems too.

    • FCBut if people spend without saving, that could cause problems too.Closes with a bare 'But' opening the final concession as a short new sentence. 7.0 folds a similar concession earlier and ends on the positive note instead, and 7.5 uses 'Of course,' to open the concession before returning to the main claim in the same sentence.以单独的'But'开启了一个简短的新句子来表达最后的让步。7.0版本把类似的让步提前融入了,改以积极的语气结尾,7.5版本用'Of course,'来开启让步,然后在同一句话里回到主论断。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCWhen lots of people start buying, it doesn't just help that one shop — it supports suppliers, delivery workers and even nearby restaurants.Replaces 6.5's separate closing concession sentence with a positive cumulative closing clause built on a dash, more fluent than 6.5's abrupt final 'But'. 7.5 keeps a similar dash-led structure but restores an explicit concession at the very end with 'Of course,'.把6.5版本独立的结尾让步句替换成了一个建立在破折号上的、积极的累加式结尾从句,比6.5版本突兀的结尾'But'更流畅。7.5版本保留了类似的、由破折号引导的结构,但在最后用'Of course,'恢复了一个明确的让步。
    • LRjust to keep upAn idiomatic addition not present in 6.5's plainer reporting, showing more natural collocation. 7.5 intensifies this to 'forcing them to hire two more staff just to keep pace', a stronger causal verb plus a near-synonym idiom.一个6.5版本更平实的转述中没有的地道补充,展现出更自然的搭配。7.5版本把它加强成了'forcing them to hire two more staff just to keep pace',用了更强的因果动词加一个近义地道说法。

Restores the concession at the very end with a softer opener: 'Of course, spending without saving invites its own problems, but steady, ordinary consumption genuinely keeps a local economy turning over.'在最后用一个更柔和的开头恢复了让步:'Of course, spending without saving invites its own problems, but steady, ordinary consumption genuinely keeps a local economy turning over.'

I'd say yes, consumption absolutely can drive growth, particularly in places where people's spending power is climbing rather than shrinking. Last year, for instance, I watched a new electronics shop open near Vincom Plaza to a fairly quiet reception, only for the back-to-school season to flip that completely — the place was suddenly packed with parents and students buying laptops, tablets and accessories. Chatting with the manager, Ms. Ha, I learned their sales had doubled that month, forcing them to hire two more staff just to keep pace. When enough people start spending at once, the ripple effect goes well beyond that one shop, reaching suppliers, delivery workers, even the restaurants nearby. Of course, spending without saving invites its own problems, but steady, ordinary consumption genuinely keeps a local economy turning over.

    • FCOf course, spending without saving invites its own problems, but steady, ordinary consumption genuinely keeps a local economy turning over.Restores an explicit concession at the very end, like 6.5, but uses the softer opener 'Of course,' instead of a bare 'But', and folds the concession and the final claim into one balanced sentence rather than 6.5's two separate short ones.像6.5版本一样在最后恢复了一个明确的让步,但用更柔和的'Of course,'开头代替单独的'But',并把让步和最后的论断融合成了一句平衡的话,而不是6.5版本两句独立的短句。
    • LRforcing them to hire two more staff just to keep pace'Forcing' is a stronger, more precise causal verb than 7.0's plain 'were hiring', and 'keep pace' is a slightly more idiomatic near-synonym for 7.0's 'keep up'.'Forcing'是一个比7.0版本平实的'were hiring'更强、更精确的因果动词,'keep pace'是一个比7.0版本'keep up'略微更地道的近义说法。
    • GRAonly for the back-to-school season to flip that completely — the place was suddenly packed with parents and students buying laptops, tablets and accessoriesUses the 'only for...to' construction, a fairly advanced structure for expressing an unexpected reversal, followed by a dash-led result clause — more syntactically ambitious than 7.0's straightforward sentence.用了'only for...to'这种相当高阶的结构,来表达意外的反转,后面接一个由破折号引导的结果从句——比7.0版本直白的句子在句法上更有野心。
