6.5 分

The answer relies on plain description ('really noisy', 'block out the office noise') and one straightforward relative clause ('headphones that block outside noise'), giving a clear but unremarkable Band 6.5 response.这篇答案主要依赖朴素的描述('really noisy'、'block out the office noise')以及一个简单的定语从句('headphones that block outside noise'),给出了一篇清晰但并不出彩的6.5分回答。

The piece of technology I would like to own is a pair of good noise-cancelling headphones. They are headphones that block outside noise, so when you wear them, you mostly hear silence, or just the music you're listening to.

I first heard about them from my coworker Huy, who brought a pair to our office one day. Our office is open-plan, on the eighteenth floor, and it can get really noisy with people talking and phones ringing. I tried his headphones for a few minutes and I honestly couldn't believe how quiet everything became.

They are quite expensive, maybe four or five million đồng for a good pair, which is a lot of money for headphones. That's probably why I still haven't bought a pair, even though I think about it almost every week.

I want to own them because my job needs a lot of concentration. When I'm designing an app, I need to focus on small details, and it's very hard to do that with noise all around me. With good headphones, I could block out the office noise and focus better, and I could also use them on the bus or at home when my neighbours are loud. I think they would really improve my work and my daily life.

  • LRblock out the office noise'Block out' is a common phrasal verb collocated with 'noise,' a straightforward and accurate choice rather than a more precise alternative like 'filter out' or 'cancel out,' which would more specifically describe how noise-cancelling technology works. A 7.0 answer might reach for one of those more topic-specific verbs; a 7.5 answer might use a more technical or figurative description of the effect. Here the plain phrasal verb clearly conveys the intended benefit — concentration in a noisy open-plan office — matching the everyday, high-frequency vocabulary target for Band 6.5.'Block out'是一个与'noise'搭配的常见短语动词,是一个简单准确的选择,而非'filter out'或'cancel out'这类更精确的替代说法——后者会更具体地描述降噪技术的工作原理。7.0分的答案可能会选用这类更具专业色彩的动词之一;7.5分的答案则可能采用更技术化或更具比喻性的描述来表达这种效果。而这里,这个朴素的短语动词清楚地传达了想要表达的好处——在嘈杂的开放式办公室里能够集中注意力——符合6.5分对日常高频词汇的要求。
  • FCI honestly couldn't believe how quiet everything became. This sentence states a straightforward emotional reaction using the common intensifier 'honestly' and a simple exclamatory structure, without elaborating on what specifically changed or comparing it to another experience. A 7.0 answer would likely link this reaction to a specific supporting detail in the same sentence; a 7.5 answer might phrase the surprise more figuratively. Here the reaction is clear, on-topic, and keeps the narrative moving without added complexity, the direct, uncomplicated development style expected at Band 6.5.
  • GRAThey are quite expensive, maybe four or five million đồng for a good pair, which is a lot of money for headphones.A non-defining relative clause, 'which is a lot of money for headphones,' is added onto a sentence that already contains a specific price estimate, giving a plain evaluative comment on the cost without further subordination or restructuring. A 7.0 answer would likely tighten this into a more integrated structure, embedding the evaluation earlier; a 7.5 answer might use a more marked or figurative way to express the cost concern. This straightforward but correctly used relative clause is typical Band 6.5 grammatical range, while still conveying the real financial hesitation mentioned in the next sentence.

Phrases like 'on a completely different level' and the reflective closing ('I guess it's one of those purchases...') show natural development without pushing into idiomatic territory, exactly the Band 7.0 target.像 'on a completely different level'(完全不是一个档次)这样的短语,以及带有反思意味的结尾句('I guess it's one of those purchases...'),都展现出自然的展开方式,但还未触及习语化的表达领域,恰好符合7.0分的目标水平。

The piece of technology I'd like to own is a mirrorless camera — the kind serious hobbyist photographers use, smaller than the big professional ones but with a similar picture quality.

I first found out about it through a friend of mine who does photography as a side hobby. He brought his camera along on a trip we took to Ba Na Hills last year, and the photos he took were honestly on a completely different level from anything my phone could produce, especially in low light.

In terms of price, a decent one with a good lens would probably cost around twenty million đồng, which is quite a lot of money for something that isn't really a necessity. That's the main reason I haven't bought one yet — I keep telling myself I'll save up for it, but something else always comes up first.

The reason I'd like to own it is that I've become more interested in photography recently, and I feel like my phone camera limits what I can actually do, especially when it comes to controlling things like the background blur or shooting at night. With a proper camera, I could experiment more and maybe even improve my editing skills, since I already spend a lot of time on design software for work anyway. There's also a practical side to it — I travel fairly often, and having better photos to look back on would mean a lot to me. I guess it's one of those purchases that isn't essential, but it would genuinely make me happier day to day.

  • LRon a completely different level"On a completely different level" is an idiomatic-adjacent comparative phrase for a large quality gap, more vivid than a plain equivalent like "much better," while still common enough in everyday speech not to sound like a deliberate flourish. This is the single flexible collocation the Band 7.0 lexical target calls for, used to make the comparison between phone and camera photos concrete and personal."On a completely different level"是一个带有习语色彩的比较性短语,用来表达巨大的质量差距,比"much better"这类平淡的说法更生动,同时又足够常见于日常口语,不至于显得是刻意炫技。这正是7.0分词汇标准所要求的那种灵活搭配,用来让手机照片与相机照片之间的对比变得具体而个人化。
  • GRAI feel like my phone camera limits what I can actually do, especially when it comes to controlling things like the background blur or shooting at nightThe main clause ("I feel like my phone camera limits...") is extended by an "especially when it comes to" clause introducing two concrete embedded examples (background blur, night shooting). This is a comfortably layered but accurate sentence that develops an abstract complaint into specific evidence, matching Band 7.0's expectation of reason-plus-concrete-example without the more deliberately varied punctuation or clause types that would signal 7.5.主句("I feel like my phone camera limits...")通过一个"especially when it comes to"从句得到扩展,引出两个具体的嵌入式例子(背景虚化、夜间拍摄)。这是一句层次适中但表达准确的句子,把一个抽象的抱怨发展成具体的证据,符合7.0分"理由加具体例子"的期待,但还没有用上更刻意多样化的标点或从句类型,那才是7.5分的标志。
  • FCI guess it's one of those purchases that isn't essential, but it would genuinely make me happier day to day"I guess" is a natural spoken hedge that frames the closing judgment as tentative, personal opinion rather than a definitive statement, and the "not essential, but..." contrast weighs practicality against genuine wellbeing -- this kind of honest, slightly qualified self-reflection is the reflective development the Band 7.0 fluency and coherence target rewards, and the hedge itself is one of the spoken phrases the site's own guidance explicitly favours over more formal alternatives."I guess"是一种自然的口语缓和语,把结尾的判断塑造成一种带有试探性的个人意见,而不是一个斩钉截铁的论断;而"not essential, but..."这一对比则权衡了实用性与真正的身心健康之间的关系——这种诚实、略带保留的自我反思,正是7.0分流利度与连贯性标准所看重的反思性展开,而这个缓和语本身也正是本站指南明确推荐、优先于更正式表达的口语短语之一。
7.5 分

The cleft sentence 'What makes it different from an ordinary tablet is exactly what it can't do' and the figurative simile about a notebook that 'never runs out of pages' demonstrate the grammatical and lexical range typical of Band 7.5.这个强调句 'What makes it different from an ordinary tablet is exactly what it can't do'(它与普通平板电脑的不同之处恰恰在于它做不到的事)以及那个关于笔记本'永远不会用完纸张'的比喻,都展现出7.5分典型的语法与词汇广度。

The piece of technology I'd like to own is an e-ink tablet — one of those grey, paper-like screens you write on with a stylus, like a very expensive notebook that never runs out of pages. I first saw one on the desk of a colleague who'd brought it back from a trip to Singapore, and I spent about ten minutes drawing on it while pretending to have a work question for her.

What makes it different from an ordinary tablet is exactly what it can't do. There's no colour, no video, no notifications, and the screen doesn't glow — it reflects light like paper, so you can use it by a window without the glare that gives me a headache by four o'clock. The stylus has a slight drag to it, so writing feels like a pencil rather than sliding on glass.

How expensive is it? Around fifteen million đồng with the pen, which is roughly a month's rent for me, and honestly that's why I still don't own one. I've put it in an online basket at least three times.

Why I want it comes down to how I actually work. Every app I design starts as rough sketches — boxes and arrows — and I do those in paper notebooks, of which I now have a shelf of about forty, none of them searchable. I'd love to sketch in the same slow, hand-drawn way and then have the drawing exported straight into my design software. And there's a quieter reason. I spend nine hours a day on a screen that's constantly asking for something. A device that shows nothing but my own handwriting, that can't distract me even if I wanted it to, feels less like a gadget and more like a small piece of peace I'd be buying. Fifteen million đồng is a lot for peace, but I'm getting closer to paying it.

  • GRAWhat makes it different from an ordinary tablet is exactly what it can't do.The sentence is a genuine cleft construction ("What makes it different... is exactly what it can't do"), fronting the abstract idea being defined before delivering an intentionally paradoxical answer -- defined by absence, not presence. This is precisely one of the structures the Band 7.5 grammar target names explicitly ("relative clauses, conditionals, a cleft sentence"), and the paradox itself is a sophisticated rhetorical setup for the explanation that follows.这句话是一个真正的强调句结构("What makes it different... is exactly what it can't do"),先把要被定义的抽象概念前置,再给出一个有意为之、带悖论色彩的答案——用"缺失"而非"存在"来定义。这正是7.5分语法标准明确点名的结构之一("关系从句、条件句、强调句"),而这个悖论本身也为随后的解释做了一次精巧的修辞铺垫。
  • LRlike a very expensive notebook that never runs out of pagesThe simile compares the tablet to "a very expensive notebook that never runs out of pages," translating an unfamiliar piece of technology into a familiar, everyday object while also capturing its key feature -- unlimited digital pages. This is precise figurative language used functionally to explain rather than merely decorate, exactly the "figurative... touch if it fits the moment" the Band 7.5 lexical target asks for.这个比喻把平板电脑比作"a very expensive notebook that never runs out of pages",把一件陌生的科技产品转化成一件熟悉的日常物品,同时也抓住了它的关键特点——数字页面用之不竭。这是一种精准的比喻性语言,被用来发挥解释功能,而不仅仅是装饰点缀,正是7.5分词汇标准所要求的"在合适时机使用的比喻……色彩"。
  • FCFifteen million đồng is a lot for peace, but I'm getting closer to paying it.The closing line reframes the tablet's cost not as money for a gadget but as money "for peace," tying together the practical reason (sketching workflow) and the emotional reason (screen fatigue) stated earlier into one unified, slightly self-aware conclusion. This synthesis of two different threads of argument into a single wry closing evaluation is a more ambitious reflective move than the single-reason closings typical of the parallel Band 7.0 answer on this same topic.结尾这句话把平板电脑的花费重新定位,不是为一件科技产品花钱,而是"for peace"——把前文提到的实际理由(素描工作流程)与情感理由(用眼疲劳)编织进一个统一、略带自嘲意味的结论里。把两条不同的论证线索融合成一个带着苦笑意味的收尾评价,这种综合处理比同一主题下那篇平行的7.0分答案中常见的、只给单一理由的结尾,展现出更进一步的反思野心。

Lists devices in a fairly plain, evenly weighted sentence, 'She uses a laptop... a smartwatch... a games console', without much rhythmic variation.用一个相当平实、结构均衡的句子来列举设备,“She uses a laptop... a smartwatch... a games console”,没有太多节奏上的变化。

If I think about my sister's day, it covers most of the list. She uses a laptop for lectures and streaming, wireless earbuds that seem always in her ears, a smartwatch she checks all the time, and a games console she shares with her flatmates. Of course, her phone holds her banking, transport, and social life too. Young people I know are also getting into cameras again, real ones, not just phone cameras. Tablets for drawing or notes are common among students too. I think a lot of this technology is more about entertainment and connection than actually making things.

    • FCOf course, her phone holds her banking, transport, and social life too.The 6.5 answer places the phone in a separate sentence starting with 'Of course,'. The 7.0 and 7.5 answers instead fold it directly into the main list with a dash, 'and, of course, the phone itself, which holds...', keeping the whole inventory inside one flowing sentence.6.5分范文把手机放在一个以“Of course,”开头的独立句子里。7.0和7.5分范文则用破折号,把它直接折叠进主列表中,“and, of course, the phone itself, which holds...”,让整个清单都保持在一个流畅的句子里。
    • LRalways in her earsThis is plain, everyday phrasing. The 7.0 and 7.5 answers both use the more vivid, slightly exaggerated 'surgically attached', a much more memorable image for the same idea.这是平实的日常措辞。7.0和7.5分范文都使用了更生动、略带夸张的“surgically attached”,为同一想法提供了更令人印象深刻的画面。
    • GRAYoung people I know are also getting into cameras again, real ones, not just phone cameras. This sentence uses a short appositive, 'real ones, not just phone cameras', a fairly simple structure. The 7.5 answer expresses a similar idea more economically with 'proper ones, for a certain kind of photo', showing a more compact phrase doing the same explanatory work.这个句子使用了一个简短的同位语“real ones, not just phone cameras”,结构相当简单。7.5分范文用“proper ones, for a certain kind of photo”更经济地表达了类似的想法,展现出一个更紧凑的短语完成了同样的解释性工作。
    7.0 分

The aside 'oddly enough' before the point about cameras adds a small reflective, spoken touch beyond the flatter 6.5 statement.在谈到相机之前插入的“oddly enough”这个插入语,比6.5分更平淡的陈述增添了一丝反思性的口语色彩。

If I trace my sister's day, it's honestly most of the list. There's a laptop for lectures and streaming, wireless earbuds that seem almost surgically attached, a smartwatch she checks more often than her phone, and a games console shared with her flatmates — and, of course, the phone itself, which holds her banking, transport, and pretty much her entire social life. Younger people I know are also getting into cameras again, oddly enough — proper ones, for a certain kind of photo. Tablets for drawing or notes are common among students too. What stands out to me is how much of it is about connection and entertainment rather than actually making things.

    • FCThere's a laptop for lectures and streaming, wireless earbuds that seem almost surgically attachedThis opens the list with an existential 'There's' construction rather than the subject-verb pattern used at 6.5, 'She uses a laptop', giving the inventory a slightly more detached, itemised feel. The 7.5 answer removes even the verb, opening with the bare noun phrase 'A laptop for lectures and streaming', an even more compressed listing style.这里用存在句“There's”结构来开启列表,而不是6.5分使用的“主语+动词”模式“She uses a laptop”,让整个清单显得更抽离、更像是逐项列举。7.5分范文甚至连动词都去掉了,直接以光秃秃的名词短语“A laptop for lectures and streaming”开篇,是一种更压缩的列举风格。
    • LRalmost surgically attachedThis vivid, exaggerated image is shared closely with the 7.5 answer, both well beyond the plain 'always in her ears' used at 6.5.这个生动、夸张的画面与7.5分范文高度一致,两者都远远超越了6.5分范文使用的平淡说法“always in her ears”。
    • GRAa smartwatch she checks more often than her phone, and a games console shared with her flatmates — and, of course, the phone itself, which holds her banking, transport, and pretty much her entire social lifeThis long sentence stacks a comparative clause, a passive participle phrase, and a dash-marked relative clause, considerably more developed than the shorter, separated sentences at 6.5. It closely matches the density of the 7.5 answer, differing mainly in small wording choices like 'pretty much' versus a bare statement.这个长句叠加了一个比较从句、一个被动分词短语,以及一个破折号标记的关系从句,比6.5分中更短、分开的句子要复杂得多。它在信息密度上与7.5分范文十分接近,主要区别在于“pretty much”这类小的措辞选择,相较于更简洁直白的说法。

The closing distinction between 'production' and 'consuming' gives the answer an analytical final layer that neither lower band attempts.“production”和“consuming”之间的结尾区分,为整篇回答增添了一层低分段都未曾尝试过的分析性收尾。

Younger people I know are also into cameras again, oddly — proper ones, for a certain kind of photo. Tablets for drawing or notes are common among students. What stands out is how much of it is about connection and entertainment rather than production; the tools for making things are a smaller part of most young people's kit than the tools for consuming.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCA laptop for lectures and streaming, wireless earbuds that seem surgically attached, a smartwatch she checks more often than her phone, a games console shared with flatmates, and, of course, the phone itselfDropping the introductory verb entirely and opening straight with a list of noun phrases is a bolder, more compressed structure than the 'There's' construction at 7.0 or the full subject-verb sentences at 6.5, reading almost like a catalogue.彻底去掉引导性动词,直接以一份名词短语列表开篇,这是一种比7.0分的“There's”结构或6.5分完整的主谓句更大胆、更压缩的结构,读起来几乎像一份产品目录。
    • LRproductionThis abstract, almost technical noun is more precise and analytical than the plainer 'actually making things' used at both 6.5 and 7.0, exemplifying the more academic register available at the top band.这个抽象、近乎技术性的名词,比6.5和7.0分范文都使用的更平淡的“actually making things”更精确、更具分析性,体现出最高分段所能达到的更学术化的语域。
    • GRAthe tools for making things are a smaller part of most young people's kit than the tools for consumingThis closing sentence uses a comparative structure built around the parallel nouns 'kit' and 'consuming', a more abstract and economical construction than the simpler closing sentences at 6.5 and 7.0.这个结尾句使用了一个围绕并列名词“kit”和“consuming”构建的比较结构,比6.5和7.0分范文更简单的结尾句更抽象、更经济。

Closes with the plain generalisation 'I think young people who use technology as a tool benefit the most', without the sharper contrast used in the upper bands.以平实的概括句“I think young people who use technology as a tool benefit the most”收尾,没有使用高分段那种更犀利的对比。

On balance, I agree that technology has a positive effect on young people, though maybe less than it used to. A cousin of mine in a village in Quang Tri learned graphic design from free videos online and now works remotely for a company in Ho Chi Minh City. Without technology, that life wouldn't exist for him. Technology gives access to information, jobs, and people beyond your town, which is a huge benefit, especially for young people outside big cities. On the other hand, I also see anxiety, comparison, and hours spent with nothing to show for it. I think young people who use technology as a tool benefit the most.

    • FCOn the other hand, I also see anxiety, comparison, and hours spent with nothing to show for it.The 6.5 answer introduces this counterpoint with the standard connector 'On the other hand,'. The 7.0 and 7.5 answers instead use the more integrated 'Against that,', both folding the pivot more tightly into the flow of the argument than the fuller phrase at 6.5.6.5分范文用标准连接词“On the other hand,”来引出这个反面观点。7.0和7.5分范文则使用更融合的“Against that,”,都比6.5分更完整的短语更紧密地把转折融入论述的流程中。
    • LRWithout technology, that life wouldn't exist for him. This is plain, direct phrasing. The 7.0 and 7.5 answers both compress this into a dash-marked clause within the previous sentence, 'without technology, that life simply doesn't exist' or 'without technology that life doesn't exist', a punchier, unhedged present tense claim.这是平实、直接的措辞。7.0和7.5分范文都把它压缩进前一句中一个破折号标记的从句里,“without technology, that life simply doesn't exist”或“without technology that life doesn't exist”,是一个更有力、不加缓和的现在时论断。
    • GRATechnology gives access to information, jobs, and people beyond your town, which is a huge benefit, especially for young people outside big cities. This sentence uses a relative clause after a three-item list, workable but fairly standard. The 7.5 answer restructures the same list using a colon, 'Access to information, to jobs, to people beyond your town: those are enormous positives', a more rhetorically deliberate structure.这个句子在三项列表后面使用了一个关系从句,可行但相当标准。7.5分范文用冒号重新组织了同样的列表,“Access to information, to jobs, to people beyond your town: those are enormous positives”,是一个修辞上更用心的结构。
    7.0 分

The closing sentence, 'I'd say the technology itself is positive; it's the way it's designed to be used that often isn't', gives the ending more analytical precision than the flatter final sentence at 6.5.结尾句“I'd say the technology itself is positive; it's the way it's designed to be used that often isn't”,比6.5分更平淡的结尾句带来更精确的分析性收尾。

On balance I agree, though the balance is a bit closer than it used to be. A cousin of mine in a village in Quang Tri learnt graphic design entirely from free videos and now works remotely for a company in Ho Chi Minh City — without technology, that life simply doesn't exist. Access to information, to jobs, to people beyond your town: those are genuinely enormous positives, especially for young people outside the big cities. Against that, though, I do see the anxiety, the constant comparison, and the attention spans shrinking, plus hours that vanish without anything to show for them. I'd say the technology itself is positive; it's the way it's designed to be used that often isn't.

    • FCAgainst that, though, I do see the anxiety, the constant comparison, and the attention spans shrinkingThis phrase uses 'Against that, though' to frame the counterpoint as a direct rebuttal, more integrated than the 6.5 answer's standard 'On the other hand,'. The 7.5 answer trims this further to simply 'Against that,', an even more economical version of the same pivot.这个短语用“Against that, though”把反面观点框定为一种直接反驳,比6.5分范文标准的“On the other hand,”更融合。7.5分范文把它进一步修剪成简单的“Against that,”,是同一转折点更为经济的版本。
    • LRthe constant comparisonThis precise noun phrase is more specific than the plain 'comparison' used at 7.5, interestingly showing that lexical intensity doesn't always increase in a straight line — sometimes a plainer noun at 7.5 lands harder because of the sentence rhythm around it.这个精确的名词短语比7.5分范文使用的平淡的“comparison”更具体,有趣的是,这说明词汇强度并不总是随分数直线上升——有时7.5分范文中更平淡的名词,反而因为句子周围的节奏而显得更有力。
    • GRAAccess to information, to jobs, to people beyond your town: those are genuinely enormous positives, especially for young people outside the big cities. This sentence uses a colon to set up a three-part list before the main clause, a sophisticated structure. The 7.5 answer achieves an almost identical structure, showing this particular technique is already well established by 7.0.这个句子用冒号在主句之前引出一个三部分的列表,是一个成熟的结构。7.5分范文实现了几乎一模一样的结构,说明这种特定的技巧到7.0分时就已经相当成熟了。
    7.5 分

The closing parallel sentence, 'Young people who use it as a tool win; those used by it lose', gives the argument a crisp, aphoristic finish beyond the plainer endings of the lower bands.结尾的平行句“Young people who use it as a tool win; those used by it lose”,为整个论述带来一个干净利落、近乎格言式的收尾,超越了低分段更平淡的结尾方式。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCAgainst that, I see the anxiety, the comparison, the attention spans shrinking, and hours that vanish without anything to show. This trimmed opening, dropping 'though' and 'do' from the 7.0 equivalent, is a more compact and confident version of the same pivot, letting the list of concerns speak for itself without extra hedging.这个经过修剪的开头,去掉了7.0分对应句中的“though”和“do”,是同一个转折更紧凑、更自信的版本,让这份担忧清单不加多余的缓和语,自己说明问题。
    • LRused by it loseThis compact passive construction is a precise, almost proverbial way of framing the negative case, more economical and memorable than any equivalent phrasing in the lower bands.这个紧凑的被动结构是一种精确、近乎谚语式的方式,来阐述负面情况,比低分段中任何对应的措辞都更经济、更令人难忘。
    • GRAYoung people who use it as a tool win; those used by it lose. This closing sentence uses a semicolon to balance two short, mirrored clauses built around active and passive verb forms, 'use... win' and 'used... lose', a more sophisticated and rhetorically balanced structure than the plainer closing generalisations at 6.5 and 7.0.这个结尾句用分号平衡了两个围绕主动和被动动词形式构建的、相互映照的短句,“use... win”和“used... lose”,是一个比6.5和7.0分范文更平淡的结尾概括更成熟、修辞上更平衡的结构。

Splits the cousin's recovery into two short, separate sentences, 'All three got better... so I think the hours were the real problem', rather than one flowing sentence.把表弟康复的过程拆分成两个简短、独立的句子,“All three got better... so I think the hours were the real problem”,而不是一个流畅的长句。

It really depends on what 'online' means, but a lot of it isn't healthy. My cousin's sleep fell apart during a gaming phase, and his mood and grades got worse too. All three got better within weeks of the console leaving his bedroom, so I think the hours were the real problem, not the game itself. Physically, spending too much time on screens usually means less movement and worse sleep. Mentally, comparing yourself to other people's edited lives online isn't good either, especially for teenagers. I think passive scrolling is the unhealthy part, and that's what most apps are designed for.

    • FCAll three got better within weeks of the console leaving his bedroom, so I think the hours were the real problem, not the game itself. The 6.5 answer separates this into its own sentence with 'so I think'. The 7.0 and 7.5 answers instead attach it directly after a dash to the previous clause about the cousin's sleep, mood, and grades, keeping the whole anecdote and its conclusion inside a single continuous sentence.6.5分范文用“so I think”把这一点拆成独立的句子。7.0和7.5分范文则用破折号,把它直接附加在前面关于表弟睡眠、情绪和成绩的从句之后,让整个轶事及其结论都保持在一个连续的句子里。
    • LRcomparing yourself to other people's edited lives online isn't good eitherThis is plain, general phrasing. The 7.0 and 7.5 answers both use the more precise, almost clinical 'endless comparison with edited, curated lives is genuinely corrosive' or 'edited lives is corrosive', a stronger, more specific verb than the vague 'isn't good'.这是平淡、笼统的措辞。7.0和7.5分范文都使用了更精确、近乎临床用语的“endless comparison with edited, curated lives is genuinely corrosive”或“edited lives is corrosive”,比含糊的“isn't good”更有力、更具体的动词。
    • GRAPhysically, spending too much time on screens usually means less movement and worse sleep. This sentence uses a two-item list after 'means', a fairly simple structure. The 7.5 answer extends this into a three-item list, 'less movement, worse posture and worse sleep', showing a slightly wider grammatical pattern within the same sentence type.这个句子在“means”后面使用了一个两项列表,结构相当简单。7.5分范文把它扩展成一个三项列表,“less movement, worse posture and worse sleep”,在同一种句型中展现出略微更宽的语法模式。
    7.0 分

The closing aside 'I'd say' before naming passive scrolling as the real problem adds a considered, spoken quality beyond the flatter 6.5 conclusion.在点明被动刷屏才是真正问题之前插入的“I'd say”,为结尾增添了一种深思熟虑的口语质感,超越了6.5分更平淡的结论。

It depends heavily on what 'online' actually means, but honestly a lot of it isn't healthy. My cousin's sleep fell apart during a gaming phase, along with his mood and his grades, and all three recovered within weeks of the console moving out of his bedroom — so the hours were clearly the problem, not the game itself. Physically, long screen time usually means less movement, worse posture, and worse sleep. Mentally, endless comparison with edited, curated lives is genuinely corrosive at an age when identity still feels fragile. Online time that involves making something, learning, or real friendship seems fine in moderate doses. The unhealthy part, I'd say, is passive scrolling, and that's exactly what most apps are built to maximise.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCso the hours were clearly the problem, not the game itselfThis dash-introduced clause folds the conclusion directly into the anecdote's main sentence, more fluid than the 6.5 answer's separate 'so I think' sentence. The 7.5 answer keeps an almost identical structure, dropping only 'clearly', showing this technique is already well set by 7.0.这个用破折号引出的从句,把结论直接折叠进轶事的主句中,比6.5分范文独立的“so I think”句子更流畅。7.5分范文保留了几乎一模一样的结构,只是去掉了“clearly”,说明这种技巧到7.0分时已经相当成熟了。
    • LRgenuinely corrosiveThis precise, almost chemical metaphor for psychological harm is shared closely with the 7.5 answer, both well beyond the vague 'isn't good either' used at 6.5.这个精确、近乎化学隐喻的表达用来形容心理伤害,与7.5分范文高度一致,两者都远远超越了6.5分范文使用的含糊说法“isn't good either”。
    • GRAMy cousin's sleep fell apart during a gaming phase, along with his mood and his grades, and all three recovered within weeks of the console moving out of his bedroomThis sentence chains three linked ideas together with commas and 'and', more developed than the two separate sentences at 6.5. The 7.5 answer achieves an almost identical structure, showing this level of sentence-combining is already established by 7.0.这个句子用逗号和“and”把三个相互关联的想法串联在一起,比6.5分中两个独立的句子更为发展成熟。7.5分范文实现了几乎一模一样的结构,说明这种句子组合水平到7.0分时就已经确立了。

    • LRbuilt to maximiseThis precise, almost technical phrase about deliberate design intent is sharper and more analytical than any equivalent closing phrase in the lower bands, which stop at simply noting that apps are 'designed for' this.这个精确、近乎技术性的短语,谈的是刻意的设计意图,比低分段中任何对应的结尾短语都更犀利、更具分析性,低分段只是简单地指出应用程序“designed for”这一点。

Mainly, online you lose almost everything except the words themselves. The emails had removed all the tone, so both sides had imagined the worst version of it. Face to face, you get expression and pauses, and you can fix a misunderstanding quickly. 为什么是这个分数

    • FCA disagreement with a client got worse over a week of emails, until it felt quite hostile, but it was solved in five minutes when we finally sat down together. The 6.5 answer joins escalation and resolution with a plain 'but'. The 7.0 and 7.5 answers instead use 'and then it dissolved' or 'and then dissolved', continuing the same sentence with 'and' rather than pivoting with 'but', which lets the story unfold as one continuous movement.6.5分范文用平淡的“but”把冲突升级和化解连接起来。7.0和7.5分范文则使用“and then it dissolved”或“and then dissolved”,用“and”延续同一个句子,而不是用“but”来转折,这让整个故事像一个连续的动作那样展开。
    • LRgot worseThis is a plain, general verb. The 7.0 and 7.5 answers both use the more precise, almost technical 'escalated', a stronger and more specific word for the same process.这是一个平淡、笼统的动词。7.0和7.5分范文都使用了更精确、近乎技术性的“escalated”,是描述同一过程时更有力、更具体的词。
    • GRAThe emails had removed all the tone, so both sides had imagined the worst version of it.This sentence uses 'so' to link cause and effect, clear but fairly standard. The 7.5 answer folds a very similar idea into a dash-marked clause attached to the previous sentence instead of starting a new one, 'the emails had stripped out the tone and both sides had filled it in with the worst version', a more compact, integrated structure.这个句子用“so”来连接因果关系,清晰但相当标准。7.5分范文把一个非常相似的想法,折叠进一个附加在前一句后面、由破折号标记的从句中,而不是另起一句,“the emails had stripped out the tone and both sides had filled it in with the worst version”,是一种更紧凑、更融合的结构。

Face to face, you get expression, pauses, and the chance to repair a misunderstanding almost instantly. Online, you get time to think and the safety of distance, which does help some people say what they actually mean. 为什么是这个分数

    • FCand then it dissolved in about five minutes once we were sitting across a table, because we could finally see that neither of us was actually angryThis long clause links resolution, timing, and cause together in one continuous flow, more developed than the two separate sentences at 6.5. The 7.5 answer achieves an almost identical structure, showing this level of complexity is already established by 7.0.这个长从句把化解、时间和原因串联进一个连续的流程中,比6.5分中两个独立的句子更为发展成熟。7.5分范文实现了几乎一模一样的结构,说明这种复杂程度到7.0分时就已经确立了。
    • LRthe safety of distanceThis is a precise, slightly abstract noun phrase for a psychological effect, more developed than a plainer equivalent would be. The 7.5 answer keeps this exact phrase, showing the two upper bands share this piece of lexis closely.这是一个精确、略带抽象色彩的名词短语,用来描述一种心理效应,比更平淡的对应说法更成熟。7.5分范文保留了完全一样的短语,说明这两个高分段在这个词汇点上高度一致。

Introduces the caveat about depth with the plain phrase 'The one problem is depth', a clear but slightly flat way of shifting the argument.用平实的短语“The one problem is depth”引出关于深度的补充说明,这是一种清晰但略显平淡的转折方式。

I think it's true, but it depends what we mean by 'good'. I've worked with a designer in Poland for four years on a shared project, and we message most weeks about more than just work, so I'd call him a real friend, even though we've never been in the same room. Doing things together builds friendship, and the internet gives people plenty of shared activities, like games, projects, or communities around a hobby. The one problem is depth. Online friendships are often about one shared thing rather than a shared life, and they can end quietly when that thing ends.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCThe one problem is depth. The 6.5 answer marks this shift with the bare noun phrase 'The one problem is depth.' The 7.0 answer extends this slightly with 'The caveat is depth, though.', and 7.5 trims it back down to 'The caveat is depth.', showing that word count doesn't rise in a straight line between the bands — sometimes 7.5 is simply more economical than 7.0.6.5分范文用光秃秃的名词短语“The one problem is depth.”来标记这个转折。7.0分范文把它略微扩展为“The caveat is depth, though.”,而7.5分又把它精简回“The caveat is depth.”,这说明字数并不会随分数直线上升——有时7.5分只是比7.0分更经济而已。
    • LRDoing things together builds friendshipThis is plain, functional phrasing. The 7.0 and 7.5 answers both use the more precise noun phrase 'Shared activity builds friendship', turning the verb phrase into a compact abstract noun, a more academic register.这是平实、功能性的措辞。7.0和7.5分范文都使用了更精确的名词短语“Shared activity builds friendship”,把动词短语转化为一个紧凑的抽象名词,是一种更学术化的语域。
    • GRAOnline friendships are often about one shared thing rather than a shared life, and they can end quietly when that thing ends. This sentence coordinates two clauses with 'and', clear but standard. The 7.5 answer achieves the same content with almost identical wording but slightly tighter phrasing, 'tend to be about a shared thing rather than a shared life, and they can end silently when the thing ends', showing the sentence structure itself has little room left to develop further at this level.这个句子用“and”并列连接两个分句,清晰但标准。7.5分范文用几乎一模一样的措辞表达了相同的内容,但更为紧凑一些,“tend to be about a shared thing rather than a shared life, and they can end silently when the thing ends”,说明在这个水平上,句子结构本身已经没有太多进一步发展的空间了。

I think it's true, with a caveat about what 'good' actually means. I've worked with a designer in Poland for four years through a shared project, we message most weeks about far more than just work, and honestly I'd call him a real friend despite never having been in the same room as him. Shared activity builds friendship, and the internet supplies shared activity in real abundance — games, projects, communities built around almost any interest. The caveat is depth, though. Online friendships tend to be about a shared thing rather than a shared life, and they can end pretty silently once the thing itself ends. Good friends online, definitely — but the friend who drives you to hospital still usually lives nearby.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCGood friends online, definitely — but the friend who drives you to hospital still usually lives nearby. This closing sentence uses a sentence fragment plus a dash-marked contrast, a bolder rhetorical move than the plain final sentence at 6.5. The 7.5 answer achieves a similar effect but splits it into two short separate sentences instead of one dash-linked one, 'Good friends online, yes. The friend who drives you to hospital usually still lives nearby.', a slightly different but equally deliberate stylistic choice.这个结尾句用一个句子片段加上一个破折号标记的对比,是比6.5分平淡的结尾句更大胆的修辞手法。7.5分范文实现了类似的效果,但把它拆成两个简短、独立的句子,而不是一个破折号连接的句子,“Good friends online, yes. The friend who drives you to hospital usually still lives nearby.”,是一个略有不同但同样用心的文体选择。
    • LRshared activity in real abundanceThe intensifier 'real' here adds emphasis beyond the plain 'plenty of shared activities' at 6.5. The 7.5 answer drops 'real' for the simpler 'in abundance', showing that at the very top band, restraint can be just as effective as intensification.这里的强调词“real”比6.5分平淡的“plenty of shared activities”增添了更多的强调语气。7.5分范文去掉了“real”,改用更简单的“in abundance”,说明在最顶尖的分数段,克制可以和强调一样有效。
    • GRAwe message most weeks about far more than just work, and honestly I'd call him a real friend despite never having been in the same room as himThis sentence links two clauses with 'and', the second containing a concessive 'despite' phrase, a well-developed structure. The 7.5 answer achieves an almost identical structure, trimming only 'just' and 'as him', showing this sentence pattern is already close to settled by 7.0.这个句子用“and”连接两个分句,第二个分句里带有一个让步性的“despite”短语,是一个成熟的结构。7.5分范文实现了几乎一模一样的结构,只是去掉了“just”和“as him”,说明这种句型到7.0分时就已经基本定型了。

The two short closing sentences, 'Good friends online, yes. The friend who drives you to hospital usually still lives nearby.', replace the dash-linked version at 7.0 with a punchier, two-beat ending.两个简短的结尾句“Good friends online, yes. The friend who drives you to hospital usually still lives nearby.”,用一个更有力的两拍式收尾,取代了7.0分那种破折号连接的版本。

I think it's true, with a caveat about what 'good' means. I've worked with a designer in Poland for four years through a shared project, we message most weeks about far more than work, and I'd call him a real friend despite never having been in the same room. Shared activity builds friendship, and the internet supplies shared activity in abundance — games, projects, communities around any interest. The caveat is depth. Online friendships tend to be about a shared thing rather than a shared life, and they can end silently when the thing ends. Good friends online, yes. The friend who drives you to hospital usually still lives nearby.

    • FCGood friends online, yes. This four-word sentence fragment is even more compact than the 7.0 answer's dash-linked version, creating a deliberate pause before the final contrasting sentence lands.这个四个词的句子片段,比7.0分破折号连接的版本更为紧凑,在最后的对比句落地之前,制造了一个刻意的停顿。
    • LRin abundanceThis trimmed phrase, dropping the intensifier 'real' used at 7.0, shows a more restrained, confident register — the word 'abundance' itself already carries enough weight without extra emphasis.这个经过修剪的短语,去掉了7.0分使用的强调词“real”,展现出一种更克制、更自信的语域——“abundance”这个词本身已经足够有分量,不需要额外的强调。
    • GRAGood friends online, yes. The friend who drives you to hospital usually still lives nearby.Splitting the closing idea into two short, separate sentences rather than joining them with a dash, as the 7.0 answer does, creates a more deliberate rhetorical pause, showing flexible control over sentence boundaries for effect.把结尾的想法拆分成两个简短、独立的句子,而不是像7.0分范文那样用破折号连接起来,这营造出一种更刻意的修辞停顿,展现出对句子边界的灵活掌控,以达到特定的修辞效果。

Opens with the full frame 'I think technology affects family relationships in both directions', a clear but fuller and more explanatory opening than the upper bands use.以完整的框架句“I think technology affects family relationships in both directions”开篇,清晰但比高分段使用的开篇更完整、更具解释性。

I think technology affects family relationships in both directions, and I see this in my own family. I video-call my grandmother in Hue every Sunday, and she feels more present in my life now than when I lived two hours away and only visited once a month. At the same time, our family dinners often have six phones on the table, and the conversation keeps stopping. My mother has even started taking the phones away, like a teacher. I think technology helps families stay connected across distance, but it can also disconnect them when they're sitting at the same table.

    • FCshe feels more present in my life now than when I lived two hours away and only visited once a monthThe 6.5 answer states this comparison in full. The 7.0 and 7.5 answers both attach the dash-marked conclusion 'technology basically stitched that relationship back together' or 'technology stitched that relationship back together' directly afterward, extending the same sentence with an evaluative image rather than leaving the comparison to stand alone.6.5分范文完整地陈述了这个比较。7.0和7.5分范文都在后面直接附加了一个破折号标记的结论——“technology basically stitched that relationship back together”或“technology stitched that relationship back together”,用一个评价性的意象来延伸同一个句子,而不是让这个比较独立存在。
    • LRMy mother has even started taking the phones away, like a teacher. This is plain, direct phrasing. The 7.0 and 7.5 answers both use the more specific, slightly formal verb 'confiscating' in place of the everyday 'taking away', a small but clear upgrade in precision.这是平实、直接的措辞。7.0和7.5分范文都使用了更具体、略带正式色彩的动词“confiscating”来代替日常用语“taking away”,这是精确度上一个虽小但明确的提升。
    • GRAI think technology helps families stay connected across distance, but it can also disconnect them when they're sitting at the same table. This sentence uses 'but' to join two contrasting clauses, clear but fairly standard. The 7.5 answer expresses the same contrast using two parallel verb phrases joined by 'and' instead, 'lets families stay connected across distance and lets them disconnect across a table', a more rhythmic, repeated structure.这个句子用“but”连接两个对比分句,清晰但相当标准。7.5分范文则用两个由“and”连接的并列动词短语来表达同样的对比,“lets families stay connected across distance and lets them disconnect across a table”,是一种更有节奏感、带有重复结构的表达。

The simile 'like some kind of teacher' adds a slightly exaggerated, humorous touch beyond the plainer 'like a teacher' used at 6.5.明喻“like some kind of teacher”比6.5分使用的更平淡的“like a teacher”多了一丝略带夸张的幽默色彩。

I'd say technology pulls family relationships in both directions at once, and I see it clearly in my own family. I video-call my grandmother in Hue every Sunday, and honestly she's more present in my life now than when I lived two hours away and only visited monthly — technology basically stitched that relationship back together. At the same time, our family dinners have six phones face-up on the table and conversations that keep pausing, and my mother has actually started confiscating them, like some kind of teacher. Technology lets families stay connected across distance and lets them disconnect across a table. Whether the overall effect is positive seems to depend on whether a family sets rules, and most families, mine included, tend to set them far too late.

    • FCtechnology basically stitched that relationship back togetherThis vivid metaphor is shared closely with the 7.5 answer, both considerably more evocative than the plain factual comparison at 6.5, which doesn't use any such image at all.这个生动的隐喻与7.5分范文高度一致,两者都比6.5分那种没有使用任何此类意象的平实事实性比较更具感染力。
    • LRconfiscating them, like some kind of teacherThis phrase intensifies the image with 'some kind of', slightly more exaggerated than the 7.5 answer's plainer 'confiscating them like a teacher', showing that at 7.0 a little extra emphasis can sometimes do the same job as the sharper economy found at 7.5.这个短语用“some kind of”强化了这个意象,比7.5分范文更平淡的“confiscating them like a teacher”略微更夸张一些,说明在7.0分,一点额外的强调有时能起到和7.5分更犀利的简练同样的作用。
    • GRAWhether the overall effect is positive seems to depend on whether a family sets rules, and most families, mine included, tend to set them far too late. This sentence uses a noun clause as subject, 'Whether the overall effect is positive', a sophisticated structure. The 7.5 answer achieves an almost identical structure, trimming 'overall' to 'net' and 'tend to set them far too late' to 'set them late', a more economical final version.这个句子用一个名词从句作主语,“Whether the overall effect is positive”,是一个成熟的结构。7.5分范文实现了几乎一模一样的结构,把“overall”精简为“net”,把“tend to set them far too late”精简为“set them late”,是一个更经济的最终版本。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCBoth directions at once, in my own family. This four-word opening fragment states the thesis immediately without any framing verb, a considerably more compact and confident opening than the fuller sentences 'I think technology affects...' at 6.5 and 'I'd say technology pulls...' at 7.0.这个四个词的开篇片段直接陈述论点,不使用任何框架性动词,是一个比6.5分更完整的句子“I think technology affects...”和7.0分的“I'd say technology pulls...”更紧凑、更自信的开篇。

No, I don't think technology always improves education, and sometimes it makes things worse while looking like progress. A school near Da Nang gave every child a tablet, and it was announced publicly, but a maths teacher there told me privately that results had actually fallen. The tablets were mostly used for games under the desk, and the money could have paid for two more teachers instead. I think technology improves education when it does something a teacher can't do alone, like showing a video or giving access to lessons a small school could never offer. But it fails when it's added just because it's new.

    • FCA school near Da Nang gave every child a tablet, and it was announced publicly, but a maths teacher there told me privately that results had actually fallen. The 6.5 answer chains this with 'and... but', producing a slightly loose three-part sentence. The 7.0 and 7.5 answers instead use a dash after the main clause to attach the teacher's private admission directly, tightening the same information into a more controlled structure.6.5分范文用“and... but”把这几点串联起来,形成一个略显松散的三部分句子。7.0和7.5分范文则在主句后面用破折号,直接把老师私下的坦白附加上去,把同样的信息收紧成一个更受控的结构。
    • LRgave every child a tablet, and it was announced publiclyThis is plain, workable phrasing. The 7.0 and 7.5 answers both use the more compact 'with a lot of publicity' or 'with great publicity', a prepositional phrase doing the same descriptive work more economically.这是平实、可用的措辞。7.0和7.5分范文都使用了更紧凑的“with a lot of publicity”或“with great publicity”,用一个介词短语更经济地完成了同样的描述性工作。
    • GRAI think technology improves education when it does something a teacher can't do alone, like showing a video or giving access to lessons a small school could never offer. This sentence uses a 'like' example with two coordinated items, workable but fairly standard. The 7.5 answer restructures this using a colon followed by a three-item list, 'a video of a beating heart, a language app a child uses at home, access to lectures a village school could never host', a more vivid, itemised, and rhythmically deliberate structure.这个句子用“like”引出一个带两个并列项的例子,可用但相当标准。7.5分范文用冒号加三项列表重新组织了这个结构,“a video of a beating heart, a language app a child uses at home, access to lectures a village school could never host”,是一个更生动、更具条理、节奏感更用心的结构。

A school near Da Nang gave every child a tablet, with a lot of publicity, and a maths teacher there told me privately that results had fallen — the tablets were mostly used for games under the desk, and that money could have paid for two extra teachers instead. Technology improves education when it does something a teacher genuinely can't, like a video of a beating heart, or a language app a child uses at home, or access to lectures a village school could never host on its own. It fails, I'd say, when it's introduced simply because it's new rather than because it actually solves a problem. 为什么是这个分数

    • FCthe tablets were mostly used for games under the desk, and that money could have paid for two extra teachers insteadThis dash-introduced clause attaches the criticism directly to the main sentence, more fluid than the 6.5 answer's separated, list-like sentences. The 7.5 answer achieves an almost identical structure, trimming only 'mostly' and 'that... instead', a slightly more economical version.这个用破折号引出的从句,把批评意见直接附加在主句上,比6.5分范文那种分开、列举式的句子更为流畅。7.5分范文实现了几乎一模一样的结构,只是去掉了“mostly”和“that... instead”,是一个略微更经济的版本。
    • LRresults had fallenThis plain, direct phrase is shared closely with the 7.5 answer, both more blunt and confident than the 6.5 answer's softened 'results had actually fallen', showing that at this point a plainer statement can carry more weight than an intensified one.这个平实、直接的短语与7.5分范文高度一致,两者都比6.5分范文软化过的说法“results had actually fallen”更直白、更有把握,说明在这一点上,更平淡的陈述反而能比强调过的说法更有分量。

The 7.5 answer achieves a similar list but drops the repeated 'or' in favour of commas after a colon, 'a video of a beating heart, a language app a child uses at home, access to lectures a village school could never host', a more compact, rhythmic variant.这个句子用类似冒号功能的“like”列举了三项,由重复的“or”连接,是一个成熟的结构。7.5分范文实现了类似的列表,但去掉了重复的“or”,改用冒号后接逗号的形式,“a video of a beating heart, a language app a child uses at home, access to lectures a village school could never host”,是一个更紧凑、更有节奏感的变体。

Explains the studio example with the plain connector 'because', a clear but fairly literal way of stating cause and effect.用平实的连接词“because”来解释工作室的例子,是一种清晰但相当直白的因果陈述方式。

I think there will be some unemployment, especially in the short term, and the pain won't be spread evenly. My studio no longer has a receptionist, because a booking app took over that role, but we gained two new jobs in data and client support that didn't exist before. That's roughly how it has gone in the past. The problem is that the people who lose the old jobs are rarely the same people who get the new ones, and that gap is where unemployment really comes from. AI now threatens office and creative jobs too, including parts of my own job. I expect a difficult ten years rather than permanent mass unemployment.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCMy studio no longer has a receptionist, because a booking app took over that role, but we gained two new jobs in data and client support that didn't exist before. The 6.5 answer uses a full 'because' clause to explain the change. The 7.0 and 7.5 answers instead compress this into a dash-marked aside, 'a booking app absorbed that role —' or 'a booking app absorbed the role —', embedding the explanation more tightly into the sentence.6.5分范文用一个完整的“because”从句来解释这个变化。7.0和7.5分范文则把它压缩进一个破折号标记的插入语中,“a booking app absorbed that role —”或“a booking app absorbed the role —”,把解释更紧密地嵌入句子里。
    • LRtook over that roleThis is plain, functional phrasing. The 7.0 and 7.5 answers both use the more precise, slightly formal verb 'absorbed', which suggests the role being quietly folded into something larger, a more evocative choice.这是平实、功能性的措辞。7.0和7.5分范文都使用了更精确、略带正式色彩的动词“absorbed”,暗示这个角色被悄悄地并入了某个更大的事物之中,是一个更具画面感的选择。
    • GRAThe problem is that the people who lose the old jobs are rarely the same people who get the new ones, and that gap is where unemployment really comes from. This sentence uses 'that... and that' to link two clauses, clear but somewhat repetitive with the word 'that'. The 7.5 answer achieves a cleaner version using a comma-set-off 'though' instead, 'The people who lose the old jobs, though, are rarely the people who get the new ones', avoiding the repetition.这个句子用“that... and that”来连接两个从句,清晰但在“that”这个词上略显重复。7.5分范文用逗号隔开的“though”实现了一个更干净的版本,“The people who lose the old jobs, though, are rarely the people who get the new ones”,避免了这种重复。

Some, especially in the short term, and honestly the pain will be spread pretty unevenly. My studio no longer has a receptionist — a booking app absorbed that role — but we gained two jobs in data and client support that didn't exist before, which is roughly how it's gone historically. The people who lose the old jobs, though, are rarely the people who get the new ones, and that gap is exactly where unemployment tends to live. AI now threatens office and creative work that used to feel fairly safe, including parts of my own job, honestly. 为什么是这个分数

    • FCa booking app absorbed that role — but we gained two jobs in data and client support that didn't exist before, which is roughly how it's gone historicallyThis sentence links a dash-marked explanation to a relative clause, more developed than the 'because' clause at 6.5. The 7.5 answer achieves an almost identical structure, differing only in dropping 'that' before 'role', showing this pattern is already close to settled by 7.0.这个句子把一个破折号标记的解释和一个关系从句连接起来,比6.5分的“because”从句更为发展成熟。7.5分范文实现了几乎一模一样的结构,唯一的区别是去掉了“role”前面的“that”,说明这种模式到7.0分时就已经基本定型了。
    • LRdisplacementThis precise, slightly technical noun for job loss caused by change is more specific than the general 'unemployment' repeated throughout the 6.5 answer, showing a finer distinction in vocabulary.这个精确、略带技术性色彩的名词,用来形容由变革引起的失业,比6.5分范文中反复使用的笼统的“unemployment”更具体,展现出更细腻的词汇区分。

The 7.5 answer achieves an almost identical structure but splits the final clause into its own short sentence instead, 'Historically they've reached them late.', a slightly different but equally deliberate rhetorical choice.这个句子在一个破折号标记的让步从句之上又叠加了一个条件性的“provided”从句,是一个成熟、有层次的结构。7.5分范文实现了几乎一模一样的结构,但把最后一个从句拆分成独立的短句,“Historically they've reached them late.”,是一个略有不同但同样用心的修辞选择。
    7.5 分

The final two-word sentence, 'Historically they've reached them late.', breaks off from the longer sentence before it, a bold, deliberate closing rhythm.结尾这个简短的句子“Historically they've reached them late.”,从前面的长句中断开来,是一种大胆、刻意的收尾节奏。

Some, especially in the short term, and the pain will be uneven. My studio no longer has a receptionist — a booking app absorbed the role — but we gained two jobs in data and client support that didn't exist before, which is roughly how it's gone historically. The people who lose the old jobs, though, are rarely the people who get the new ones, and that gap is where unemployment lives. AI now threatens office and creative work that used to feel safe, including parts of mine. I'd expect a difficult decade of displacement rather than permanent mass unemployment, provided training and support actually reach the people affected. Historically they've reached them late.

    • FCthat gap is where unemployment livesThis trimmed, almost aphoristic phrase, dropping 'really comes from' in favour of the simpler 'lives', is a more economical and confident final image than either the 6.5 or 7.0 equivalents.这个经过修剪、近乎格言式的短语,去掉了“really comes from”,改用更简单的“lives”,是一个比6.5和7.0分对应版本都更经济、更自信的最终意象。
    • LRdisplacementThis precise noun matches the 7.0 answer exactly, both clearly more specific than the repeated general noun 'unemployment' used throughout the 6.5 answer.这个精确的名词与7.0分范文完全一致,两者都明显比6.5分范文中反复使用的笼统名词“unemployment”更具体。
    • GRAHistorically they've reached them late. This short closing sentence, broken off from the longer conditional sentence before it rather than folded in with a dash as at 7.0, shows a bolder, more deliberate use of sentence length for rhetorical effect.这个简短的结尾句,从前面更长的条件句中断开来,而不是像7.0分那样用破折号折叠进去,展现出对句子长度更大胆、更刻意的运用,以达到修辞效果。
  9. 9. What do you think of the view that the rate of technological innovation will slow down in years to come?

States the phone comparison and its implication in two separate sentences, 'Phones haven't changed much... My current phone is basically the same', a plain step-by-step structure.用两个独立的句子来陈述手机的比较及其含义,“Phones haven't changed much... My current phone is basically the same”,是一种平实的按部就班的结构。

I think this view is half right, depending on where you look. Phones haven't changed much in five years. My current phone is basically the same as the one before it, and that kind of visible innovation for consumers does seem to be slowing down as the easy improvements run out. But the tools I use for design have changed more in the last two years than in the ten years before that, mostly because of AI. I think innovation might slow down in the products we hold, but speed up in the systems working behind them, which are less visible to most people.

    • FCMy current phone is basically the same as the one before it, and that kind of visible innovation for consumers does seem to be slowing down as the easy improvements run out.The 6.5 answer states the phone comparison as its own sentence before drawing the wider conclusion. The 7.0 and 7.5 answers instead fold both ideas into one sentence using a dash, 'my current one is essentially the one before it —', a tighter, more integrated structure.6.5分范文先用独立的句子陈述手机的比较,再引出更宽泛的结论。7.0和7.5分范文则用破折号,把两个想法折叠进一个句子里,“my current one is essentially the one before it —”,是一个更紧凑、更融合的结构。
    • LRvisible innovation for consumersThis is workable but slightly clunky phrasing. The 7.0 and 7.5 answers both use the more compact, natural 'visible, consumer-facing innovation' or 'visible consumer innovation', a tighter compound adjective doing the same descriptive job.这是可用但略显笨拙的措辞。7.0和7.5分范文都使用了更紧凑、更自然的“visible, consumer-facing innovation”或“visible consumer innovation”,用一个更紧凑的复合形容词完成了同样的描述工作。
    • GRAI think innovation might slow down in the products we hold, but speed up in the systems working behind them, which are less visible to most people. This sentence uses 'but' to join two parallel verb phrases, then adds a relative clause, workable but somewhat loosely stacked. The 7.5 answer tightens this into 'innovation may slow in the products we hold and speed up in the systems behind them', dropping the relative clause and the repeated subject for a more compact, balanced structure.这个句子用“but”连接两个并列的动词短语,再加上一个关系从句,可用但堆叠得有些松散。7.5分范文把它收紧为“innovation may slow in the products we hold and speed up in the systems behind them”,去掉了关系从句和重复的主语,形成一个更紧凑、更平衡的结构。
    7.0 分

The closing image, 'while the real changes are happening somewhere far less visible', gives the ending a slightly more developed final image than the plainer 6.5 equivalent.结尾的意象“while the real changes are happening somewhere far less visible”,比6.5分更平淡的对应版本带来了略微更成熟的最终意象。

I think it's half right, depending on where you actually look. Phones have barely changed in five years — my current one is essentially the one before it — and that kind of visible, consumer-facing innovation does seem to be slowing as the easy improvements run out. But the tools I use for design have changed more in the last two years than in the previous ten, mostly because of AI, and biology and energy seem to be entering a similar kind of acceleration right now. So innovation may well be slowing in the products we actually hold while speeding up in the systems behind them. Honestly, the view feels like something people say when their own gadgets stop surprising them, while the real changes are happening somewhere far less visible.

    • FCHonestly, the view feels like something people say when their own gadgets stop surprising themThis hedge 'Honestly,' plus the vivid closing image is a more developed, opinionated final move than the plain explanatory sentence at 6.5. The 7.5 answer keeps an almost identical image but drops the hedge and 'own', trusting the observation to stand on its own.缓和语“Honestly,”再加上这个生动的结尾意象,是一个比6.5分平实的解释性句子更成熟、更具主观色彩的收尾手法。7.5分范文保留了几乎一模一样的意象,但去掉了缓和语和“own”,让这个观察自己站得住脚。
    • LRa similar kind of acceleration right nowThis is a clear, workable phrase. The 7.5 answer's 'the same kind of acceleration' is nearly identical, showing this particular phrase has already reached a stable form by 7.0, with further polish coming from elsewhere in the sentence.这是一个清晰、可用的短语。7.5分范文的“the same kind of acceleration”几乎一模一样,说明这个特定的短语到7.0分时就已经形成了稳定的形式,进一步的打磨来自句子中的其他地方。
    • GRABut the tools I use for design have changed more in the last two years than in the previous ten, mostly because of AI, and biology and energy seem to be entering a similar kind of acceleration right now. This sentence links a comparative clause to a further coordinated clause with 'and', a well-developed structure. The 7.5 answer achieves an almost identical structure, dropping only 'mostly' and 'right now', showing this pattern is already close to settled by 7.0.这个句子用“and”把一个比较从句和另一个并列从句连接起来,是一个成熟的结构。7.5分范文实现了几乎一模一样的结构,只是去掉了“mostly”和“right now”,说明这种模式到7.0分时就已经基本定型了。
    7.5 分

The closing image, 'while the real changes move somewhere less visible', trims the 7.0 version's extra words 'are happening somewhere far' into a tighter, more economical final phrase.结尾意象“while the real changes move somewhere less visible”,把7.0版本中多余的“are happening somewhere far”修剪成一个更紧凑、更经济的最终短语。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCThe view feels like something people say when their gadgets stop surprising themDropping the hedge 'Honestly,' and the word 'own' used at 7.0, this sentence states the same sharp observation with more confidence and economy, trusting the claim to land without softening.去掉了7.0分使用的缓和语“Honestly,”和“own”这个词,这个句子用更自信、更经济的方式陈述了同样犀利的观察,不加软化,相信这个论断能够自己站住脚。
    • LRthe real changes move somewhere less visibleThis trimmed closing phrase, using the simple verb 'move' instead of the fuller 'are happening... far less visible' at 7.0, is a more economical, almost aphoristic final image.这个经过修剪的结尾短语,使用简单的动词“move”来代替7.0分更完整的“are happening... far less visible”,是一个更经济、近乎格言式的最终意象。
    • GRAinnovation may slow in the products we hold and speed up in the systems behind themThis sentence balances two parallel verb phrases, 'slow in... and speed up in', without a relative clause or repeated subject, a tighter and more rhythmically deliberate structure than the looser equivalent sentence at 6.5.这个句子平衡了两个并列的动词短语,“slow in... and speed up in”,没有使用关系从句或重复主语,比6.5分中更松散的对应句子结构更紧凑、节奏感也更用心。
