6.5 分

The answer is coherent and relevant but relies on a formulaic opening and simple single-clause sentences, keeping the language correct but plain throughout.回答连贯且切题,但主要依靠公式化的开头以及简单的单分句句子,整体语言正确但始终比较朴素。

The person I want to talk about is my colleague Nam. We work together at the same software studio in Da Nang, and he sits two desks away from me. Nam is a few years older than me, and he has always been really into history, especially about the Nguyen dynasty.

He mostly learns about it by watching documentaries on YouTube during his lunch break. Sometimes he also reads books about old Vietnamese kings. He doesn't talk about it too much at work, but if you ask him one question, he can explain for ten minutes without stopping.

I think he loves history because his hometown is close to Hue, and he grew up visiting old temples and tombs with his grandfather. He told me once that learning about the past makes him understand his own country better. It's not just information for him, it feels personal.

Honestly, I really respect Nam for this. I don't know much about history myself, but talking to him makes me curious. Last month he explained the story behind a temple near his house, and I actually wanted to visit it after that. I think it's nice to have a colleague who is passionate about something outside of work.

  • FCThe person I want to talk about is my colleague Nam.The opening sentence restates the Part 2 task almost word for word, introducing the person before any detail about him is given, rather than opening with something more distinctive about Nam himself. This kind of formulaic, task-restating opening is extremely typical of Band 6.5 — safe and clearly organised, but showing no attempt at a more creative entry point, unlike a 7.0+ answer that might open with a specific detail instead. It does immediately orient the listener to who the story is about, which keeps the answer easy to follow.开篇几乎逐字重述了Part 2的任务要求,先介绍人物,再补充关于他的任何细节,而没有用一些关于阮南本人更独特的东西来开场。这种公式化、重述题目的开头方式在6.5分中非常典型——安全、条理清楚,却完全没有尝试更有创意的切入点,不像7.0+分的答案可能会直接用一个具体细节开场。它依然立刻让听者明白这个故事是关于谁的,让回答易于跟随。
  • LRreally into history'Really into' is a common, informal way of expressing enthusiasm, chosen here instead of a more specific word like 'fascinated by' or 'passionate about'. This kind of default, low-effort phrase for describing interest — accurate and natural, but not precise — is characteristic of the plain lexical choices expected at Band 6.5. It nonetheless clearly sets up the rest of the answer, which goes on to specify that the interest is particularly in the Nguyen dynasty.'Really into'是一种常见、随意的表达兴趣的方式,这里选用它而不是像'fascinated by'或'passionate about'这样更精确的词。这种默认的、不费力气的兴趣描述方式——准确自然,但不够精确——正是6.5分所期待的那种平实词汇选择的特征。尽管如此,它依然清楚地为回答的其余部分做了铺垫,后面会具体说明这种兴趣特别是针对阮朝的。
  • GRAHe mostly learns about it by watching documentaries on YouTube during his lunch break. The sentence is built from a single simple structure with one prepositional phrase layered onto the main verb ('by watching...'), rather than being extended with a subordinate clause explaining, say, why he watches during lunch. This basic sentence-building — one main clause plus one added phrase — is the typical shape of Band 6.5 grammar, in contrast with a 7.0 answer that might combine this detail with a reason or comparison in the same sentence. It still delivers a clear, specific detail (YouTube, lunch break) rather than a vague generalisation.这句话是由一个简单结构加上叠加在主要动词上的一个介词短语('by watching...')构成的,而不是用一个从句来展开解释,比如为什么他在午休时间看。这种基础的造句方式——一个主句加一个附加短语——是6.5分语法的典型形态,与之相对,7.0分的答案可能会把这个细节和一个理由或比较放进同一句话里。它依然给出了一个清楚、具体的细节(YouTube、午休),而不是一个模糊的概括。
7.0 分

The figurative phrase 'a small piece of a puzzle he's trying to complete' and the conditional-perfect structure in the final paragraph give the answer more texture and grammatical range than 6.5, while remaining more restrained than 7.5.富有比喻色彩的短语'a small piece of a puzzle he's trying to complete'(他正试图拼完的一块小拼图)以及最后一段中的虚拟完成时结构,让回答比6.5级更有层次、语法范围也更广,但仍比7.5级更为克制。

The person I want to talk about is my uncle, Phong, who lives just a few streets away from my apartment in Da Nang. He's in his fifties now, and for as long as I can remember, he's been genuinely obsessed with Vietnamese history, particularly the war period.

He learns about it mainly through old books and documentaries, but what makes him a bit different is that he also collects things - old photographs, letters, even a few coins from that era, which he picks up from flea markets or online groups. Whenever there's a public holiday connected to history, he'll usually visit a museum or a former battlefield site, sometimes dragging the rest of the family along with him.

I think the reason he loves it so much is that his own father, my grandfather, lived through that period and used to tell him stories as a child. For Phong, learning about history isn't just an academic interest, it feels like a way of staying connected to family he never really got to know properly, since my grandfather passed away when Phong was still young. He once told me that every object he finds feels like a small piece of a puzzle he's trying to complete.

Honestly, I really admire him for it. I never paid much attention to history at school, but spending time with Phong has slowly changed that. Last year he took me to an old fort outside the city and explained details I would never have noticed on my own, like the layout of the tunnels. It's made me appreciate having someone in the family who cares that deeply about where we come from.

  • FCHonestly, I really admire him for it.A brief evaluative statement opens the closing paragraph and signals a shift to personal reflection, the natural spoken development expected at Band 7.0.一句简短的评价性陈述开启了结尾段落,标示出向个人反思的转折,这是Band 7.0所期待的自然口语化展开方式。
  • LRa small piece of a puzzle he's trying to completeThe extended metaphor of history as a puzzle Phong is trying to complete is a moderately figurative image, going beyond plain description of his collecting hobby into something more interpretive. This kind of controlled figurative language — used once, clearly, and tied to something concrete (the objects he collects) — is exactly the Band 7.0 target of a few flexible or imaginative phrases layered over everyday vocabulary. It also captures the emotional core of the story: that history is personal for Phong, not just academic interest, echoing the point made just before about staying connected to the grandfather he never knew.
  • GRAexplained details I would never have noticed on my own, like the layout of the tunnelsA relative clause ('details I would never have noticed') is combined with the conditional-perfect verb form ('would never have noticed'), a more demanding structure than a simple past-tense report of what Phong explained. This kind of layered grammar — relative clause plus a hypothetical perfect verb form, kept accurate — is part of the comfortable complex-structure range Band 7.0 targets, beyond what a 6.5 answer would typically risk. The added example ('the layout of the tunnels') grounds the abstract claim in something specific from the fort visit just mentioned.一个定语从句('details I would never have noticed')与条件完成时的动词形式('would never have noticed')结合在一起,这比对Phong所讲内容进行简单过去时叙述的结构要求更高。这种分层的语法——定语从句加上一个假设性的完成时动词形式,并且保持准确——是7.0分所瞄准的从容复杂结构范围的一部分,超出了6.5分答案通常敢于尝试的程度。所补充的例子('the layout of the tunnels')把这个抽象论断落回到前面刚提到的那次堡垒参观中的具体事物上。

The precise, topic-specific vocabulary describing 'symbolic meanings behind roof decorations' and the generalised closing insight about the friendship show the lexical precision and reflective development typical of Band 7.5.描述'symbolic meanings behind roof decorations'(屋顶装饰背后的象征意义)时使用的精准、话题相关的词汇,以及结尾处关于这段情谊的概括性感悟,展现出Band 7.5典型的词汇精准度和反思性发展。

Actually, the first person who comes to mind is my friend Huy, who I met back in university in Hanoi. Huy grew up just outside of Hue, so we clicked right away, but what really stood out about him was his fascination with history-especially Vietnamese dynasties and war history.

Huy has this habit of digging into old documentaries and podcasts. I remember during our second year, he would invite a few of us to his dorm room for movie nights, but instead of the usual action films, he'd put on episodes about the Nguyen emperors or the French colonial era. He also reads a lot-sometimes he'd show up at the library with these thick, dog-eared books about historical battles or royal families. Lately, he's gotten hooked on a YouTube channel that creates animated retellings of famous events, which he always insists are way more entertaining than our old textbooks.

I think what drives Huy is just genuine curiosity. He once told me that knowing the stories behind places and traditions makes daily life feel richer, almost like living in a giant museum. When we visited the Imperial City in Hue together last year, he was pointing out details I'd never noticed, like the symbolic meanings behind roof decorations or hidden gates.

Honestly, I really admire Huy's passion. It's made me appreciate things I used to overlook, like the history behind street names or even the dishes we eat. He has this way of making the past feel alive, and I always end up learning something new just by spending time with him.

  • LRhe was pointing out details I'd never noticed, like the symbolic meanings behind roof decorations or hidden gatesTerms like 'symbolic meanings,' 'roof decorations,' and 'hidden gates' are specific, topic-appropriate vocabulary drawn from architecture and history rather than generic words like 'interesting things' or 'old buildings' that a lower-band answer might substitute. Using this kind of precise, subject-specific lexis naturally, without it feeling like a memorised list of terms, is the less-common vocabulary the Band 7.5 lexical target rewards. It also gives the anecdote real credibility, since the specificity implies the speaker genuinely absorbed detail from visiting the Imperial City with Huy rather than describing the trip in vague, general terms.
  • GRAhe would invite a few of us to his dorm room for movie nights, but instead of the usual action films, he'd put on episodes about the Nguyen emperorsThe 'instead of' phrase is embedded inside a longer sentence that first sets up an expectation — normal 'movie nights' — and then subverts it, rather than stating the contrast as a separate sentence like 'We expected action films, but he showed us history documentaries.' Building the contrast this way, inside a single flowing sentence with the habitual 'would' construction carried across both clauses, is the varied complex grammar the Band 7.5 target rewards over the simpler contrastive sentences a 7.0 answer would produce. The specific detail of swapping action films for episodes on 'the Nguyen emperors' also makes Huy's unusual dedication to history concrete and slightly amusing."instead of"这个短语被嵌入一个更长的句子里,先建立起一种期待——普通的"movie nights"——然后再将其颠覆,而不是像"We expected action films, but he showed us history documentaries."那样,用单独一句话来陈述这种反差。以这种方式在一句流畅的话里构建对比,并让表示习惯的"would"结构贯穿两个分句,正是7.5分所看重的多样化复杂语法,胜过7.0水平答案会产出的更简单的对比句。把动作片换成关于"the Nguyen emperors"的剧集这一具体细节,也让阿辉对历史那份不同寻常的热忱显得具体而略带趣味。
  • FCHe has this way of making the past feel alive, and I always end up learning something new just by spending time with him.The answer ends with a generalised, reflective insight about the friendship rather than a single anecdote, the evaluative closing typical of Band 7.5.回答以一段关于这段情谊的概括性、反思性感悟收尾,而不只是一则单一轶事,这是Band 7.5典型的评价性收尾方式。

    6.5 分

The 6.5 answer gives a direct opinion with one simple supporting reason and a brief example, relying on plain connectors like 'because' and 'So' rather than any natural hedging language.6.5的答案给出了一个直接的观点,配有一个简单的支撑理由和一个简短的例子,依赖像 'because' 和 'So' 这样平实的连接词,而不是任何自然的缓和语言。

I think children should start around seven or eight years old, because that's when they can understand simple stories about the past. In my primary school, we learned stories about Hue's imperial history, and I still remember them better than the harder lessons I had later in secondary school. If the lessons are too difficult too early, children just get bored or confused. So I believe it's better to start with easy stories first and add more details later.

    我觉得孩子们应该从七八岁左右开始,因为那是他们能理解关于过去的简单故事的年纪。在我上小学的时候,我们学了顺化皇朝历史的故事,我现在还记得比后来在中学时学的更难的课程记得清楚。如果课程太早就太难,孩子只会感到无聊或困惑。所以我认为最好先从简单的故事开始,以后再加入更多细节。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCSo I believe it's better to start with easy stories first and add more details later. This closing sentence simply restates the opinion with the plain connector 'So', giving the answer a flat, linear shape typical of 6.5. A 7.0 or 7.5 answer would more likely close with a mild evaluative remark or a hedge like 'I'd say' rather than this bare restatement.这个结尾句只是用平实的连接词 'So' 重述了观点,给答案带来了6.5典型的平淡、线性的形状。7.0或7.5的答案更可能会用一个温和的评价性说法或像 'I'd say' 这样的缓和语来收尾,而不是这种赤裸裸的重述。
    • LRlearned stories about Hue's imperial historyThe verb 'learned' is a modest, everyday choice for describing the school experience. A higher band would likely reach for a more specific collocation, such as 'eased us into' or 'introduced us to', to show finer lexical control of the same idea.动词 'learned' 是描述学校经历时一个朴素、日常的选择。更高的分数段很可能会选用一个更具体的搭配,比如 'eased us into' 或 'introduced us to',来展现对同一想法更精细的词汇掌控。
    • GRAIf the lessons are too difficult too early, children just get bored or confused. This is a basic present-tense conditional with a simple main clause, the kind of structure a 6.5 candidate can produce accurately but without variety. A 7.5 answer would be more likely to compress this into a fronted participial phrase instead of a textbook 'if' clause.这是一个带简单主句的基础现在时条件句,是6.5考生能够准确产出但缺乏多样性的那种结构。7.5的答案更可能会把这个压缩成一个前置的分词短语,而不是教科书式的 'if' 从句。
    7.0 分

The 7.0 answer adds a touch of reflection with 'looking back' and the spoken hedge 'To be fair', plus one clearly complex conditional sentence, moving beyond the flatter 6.5 structure.7.0的答案用 'looking back' 加了一点反思色彩,还用了口语化的缓和语 'To be fair',再加上一个明显复杂的条件句,超越了6.5更平淡的结构。

I'd say around seven or eight, since that's roughly when kids can follow a simple timeline without getting lost. Honestly, my own primary school started us on stories about Hue's imperial past quite early, and looking back, those lessons stuck with me far more than the drier, more formal history classes I had in secondary school. If children are given complicated material too soon, they tend to just switch off. To be fair, I think starting with stories and gradually building up detail works better than rigid academic history from day one.

    • FCTo be fair, I think starting with stories and gradually building up detail works better than rigid academic history from day one.The spoken hedge 'To be fair' softens the final opinion and signals natural, in-the-moment reasoning, something largely absent at 6.5. It falls short of 7.5, though, since it doesn't add a sharper evaluative or idiomatic closing touch.口语化的缓和语 'To be fair' 软化了最后的观点,并标志着一种自然的、即时的推理过程,这在6.5中基本是缺失的。不过它还没达到7.5的水准,因为它没有加入更犀利的评价性或地道的收尾笔触。
    • LRthose lessons stuck with me far more than the drier, more formal history classesThe phrase 'stuck with me' and the comparative 'drier, more formal' show a step up from plain vocabulary like 'remember' or 'harder' used at 6.5. It is not yet a genuinely uncommon word choice, which is what would push it toward 7.5.短语 'stuck with me' 和比较级 'drier, more formal' 展现出比6.5使用的平实词汇如 'remember' 或 'harder' 更进一步。它还不是真正不常见的用词选择,而这才是能把它推向7.5的因素。
    • GRAIf children are given complicated material too soon, they tend to just switch off. This passive-voice conditional ('are given... too soon') is a bit more sophisticated than a plain active 'if' sentence, showing controlled grammar variety expected at 7.0. A 7.5 response would more likely fold this idea into a fronted or participial construction rather than a standard conditional.这个被动语态条件句('are given... too soon')比一个平实的主动 'if' 句子稍微更复杂一些,展现出7.0所期望的可控的语法多样性。7.5的回答更可能会把这个想法融入一个前置或分词结构,而不是标准的条件句。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer uses a fronted participial clause ('Throwing dense material at children too soon...') and a less-common collocation like 'academic rigor imposed prematurely' to sound more compact and idiomatic than the 7.0 version.7.5的答案用了一个前置的分词从句('Throwing dense material at children too soon...'),以及像 'academic rigor imposed prematurely' 这样不太常见的搭配,听起来比7.0版本更紧凑、更地道。

Around seven or eight, I'd say, once children can grasp a rough timeline and start connecting cause and effect. My own primary school eased us into Hue's imperial history through vivid little stories long before secondary school buried us in dates and treaties, and those early tales, oddly enough, have stuck with me far more vividly than anything from the formal curriculum. Throwing dense material at children too soon just breeds confusion, or worse, boredom that puts them off the subject entirely. Building up gradually, from storytelling to structure, strikes me as a far sounder approach than academic rigor imposed prematurely.

    • FCthose early tales, oddly enough, have stuck with me far more vividly than anything from the formal curriculumThe inserted aside 'oddly enough' adds a genuine evaluative touch mid-sentence, a more fluent, native-like discourse move than the simpler hedges at 7.0. A 6.5 answer would state this fact plainly without any such interjection.插入的旁白 'oddly enough' 在句子中间加入了一个真实的评价性笔触,比7.0中更简单的缓和语更流畅、更接近母语者的话语方式。6.5的答案会平实地陈述这个事实,而不加任何这样的插入语。
    • LReased us into Hue's imperial historyThe verb 'eased' is a precise, slightly idiomatic collocation for a gradual introduction, more specific than the plain 'learned' at 6.5 or 'started us on' at 7.0. This kind of deliberate word choice is what distinguishes 7.5 lexical resource.动词 'eased' 是一个精确、略带地道色彩的搭配,用来形容循序渐进的引入,比6.5中平实的 'learned' 或7.0中的 'started us on' 更具体。这种经过斟酌的用词正是区分7.5词汇资源的地方。
    • GRAThrowing dense material at children too soon just breeds confusion, or worse, boredom that puts them off the subject entirely. This fronted participial phrase ('Throwing dense material...') replaces a standard 'if' clause with a more compact, flexible structure. Lower bands would more likely default to the plainer conditional form seen at 6.5 and 7.0.这个前置的分词短语('Throwing dense material...')用一个更紧凑、更灵活的结构取代了标准的 'if' 从句。较低的分数段更可能会默认使用6.5和7.0中出现的更平实的条件句形式。

    6.5 分

The 6.5 answer states the reason plainly with 'because' and closes with a simple 'I think if... fewer students would' sentence, using everyday words like 'boring' instead of a more precise term.6.5的答案用 'because' 平实地陈述了理由,并以一个简单的 'I think if... fewer students would' 句子结尾,用了像 'boring' 这样的日常词汇,而不是更精确的术语。

Because it's often taught as just memorizing dates and names, instead of real stories about people and events. I remember finding history boring myself in secondary school, because the exams only tested facts, not why things really happened. It's even worse when teachers just read from the textbook. I think if history was taught more like storytelling, fewer students would find it boring.

    因为历史常常被当成单纯记忆年代和名字来教,而不是关于人物和事件的真实故事。我记得我自己在中学的时候也觉得历史很无聊,因为考试只考事实,不考事情真正发生的原因。当老师只是照着教科书念的时候,情况就更糟了。我觉得如果历史能更像讲故事一样来教,会有更少的学生觉得它无聊。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCI think if history was taught more like storytelling, fewer students would find it boring. This closing sentence delivers the opinion directly with no hedge or reflective marker, giving the answer a flat, report-like coherence typical of 6.5. A 7.0 answer would likely soften this with a phrase like 'I'd say' first.这个结尾句直接传达了观点,没有任何缓和语或反思性标记,给答案带来了6.5典型的平淡、报告式的连贯性。7.0的答案很可能会先用一个像 'I'd say' 这样的短语来软化它。
    • LRI remember finding history boring myself'Boring' is repeated as the default adjective throughout this answer, showing limited lexical range. A higher band would vary this with words like 'dull' or 'tedious' to avoid repetition.'Boring' 在整个答案中被反复用作默认的形容词,展现出有限的词汇范围。更高的分数段会用像 'dull' 或 'tedious' 这样的词来变化,以避免重复。
    • GRAI think if history was taught more like storytelling, fewer students would find it boring. The conditional here uses 'was' instead of the more accurate subjunctive 'were', a minor grammatical slip consistent with 6.5 control. Higher bands correct this to 'were taught', showing firmer command of hypothetical conditionals.这里的条件句用了 'was',而不是更准确的虚拟语气 'were',这是一个与6.5的掌控水平相符的小语法失误。更高的分数段会把这个纠正为 'were taught',展现出对假设条件句更牢固的掌握。
    7.0 分

The 7.0 answer opens its personal example with the spoken hedge 'Honestly' and builds one longer 'I'd say that if... would' sentence combining a conditional with a linking clause, going further than the short, separate sentences of the 6.5 version.7.0的答案用口语化的缓和语 'Honestly' 引出个人例子,并构建了一个更长的 'I'd say that if... would' 句子,把条件句和一个连接从句结合在一起,比6.5版本更进了一步,后者用的是简短、独立的句子。

Often it's because history gets taught as pure memorization, endless dates and names, rather than as stories about real people making real decisions. Honestly, I found it pretty dull myself in secondary school, mainly because the exams rewarded memorizing facts rather than actually understanding why events happened. It doesn't help when teachers simply read from the textbook, compared with ones who manage to connect the past to something students genuinely care about now. I'd say that if history were taught more like storytelling, with real cause and consequence, far fewer students would find it so tedious.

    • FCHonestly, I found it pretty dull myself in secondary schoolThe spoken marker 'Honestly' signals a natural, reflective tone when introducing the personal example, something the 6.5 answer lacks entirely. It is a modest but genuine step toward more native-like coherence.口语化的标记词 'Honestly' 在引出个人例子时标志着一种自然、反思性的语气,这是6.5答案完全缺失的。这是朝更接近母语者连贯性迈出的一小步,但却是真实的一步。
    • LRthe exams rewarded memorizing facts rather than actually understanding why events happened'Rewarded' is a more precise collocation than the plainer 'tested' used at 6.5, showing a slightly wider lexical range. It still stops short of the more vivid word choice expected at 7.5.'Rewarded' 是一个比6.5使用的更平实的 'tested' 更精确的搭配,展现出稍微更广的词汇范围。但它还没有达到7.5所期望的那种更生动的用词。
    • GRAI'd say that if history were taught more like storytelling, with real cause and consequence, far fewer students would find it so tedious. This sentence correctly uses the subjunctive 'were taught' in the conditional and adds an extra linking phrase ('with real cause and consequence'), a more accurate and complex structure than the 6.5 version's 'was taught' error.这句话在条件句中正确使用了虚拟语气 'were taught',并加了一个额外的连接短语('with real cause and consequence'),比6.5版本中 'was taught' 的错误更准确、更复杂。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer fronts a participial clause ('Taught more like storytelling...') and swaps the plain 'memorizing facts' for the sharper, less-common 'regurgitating facts', giving it a more compact and idiomatic feel than the 7.0 answer.7.5的答案前置了一个分词从句('Taught more like storytelling...'),并把平实的 'memorizing facts' 换成了更犀利、更不常见的 'regurgitating facts',比7.0的答案更紧凑、更具地道感。

More often than not, it's because history gets reduced to rote memorization, dates and names drilled in rather than the genuinely gripping stories behind them. I found it fairly tedious myself in secondary school, largely because the exams rewarded regurgitating facts over actually grasping why events unfolded the way they did. Teachers who lean on reading straight from the textbook only compound the problem, especially next to ones who tie the past to something students genuinely care about. Taught more like storytelling, with real cause bleeding into consequence, history would lose a lot of the tedium so many students currently associate it with.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCTeachers who lean on reading straight from the textbook only compound the problem, especially next to ones who tie the past to something students genuinely care about. This single sentence smoothly manages a contrast between two teacher types within one flowing structure, showing more fluent idea management than the shorter, separate sentences typical of 6.5. It reads as a natural, unhurried elaboration rather than a listed point.这一个句子在一个流畅的结构里顺利地处理了两种教师类型之间的对比,比6.5典型的更短、更独立的句子展现出更流畅的思路管理。读起来像是一段自然、不急不躁的阐述,而不是一个罗列出来的要点。
    • LRthe exams rewarded regurgitating facts'Regurgitating' is a genuinely less-common, vivid word choice compared to the plainer 'memorizing' used at both lower bands. This kind of precise, slightly idiomatic vocabulary is a clear marker of 7.5 lexical resource.'Regurgitating' 是一个真正不太常见、生动的用词选择,相比两个较低分数段使用的更平实的 'memorizing'。这种精确、略带地道色彩的词汇是7.5词汇资源的明显标志。
    • GRATaught more like storytelling, with real cause bleeding into consequence, history would lose a lot of the tedium so many students currently associate it with. This sentence opens with a fronted participial clause instead of a standard 'if' conditional, a more compressed and flexible structure than the 7.0 answer's explicit 'if history were taught' construction. It also embeds the vivid phrase 'cause bleeding into consequence' within the same clause.这句话以一个前置的分词从句开头,而不是标准的 'if' 条件句,比7.0答案中明确的 'if history were taught' 结构更凝练、更灵活。它还在同一从句中嵌入了生动的短语 'cause bleeding into consequence'。

Yes, I think that would make history feel more real and human. Knowing the date of a battle matters less to me than knowing how ordinary people actually lived and what they worried about. My grandmother often tells me stories about her childhood in Hue, and that taught me more about that time than any textbook. This kind of detail helps students connect with history instead of just memorizing facts.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCYes, I think that would make history feel more real and human. This is a short, direct opening statement with no hedge or discourse marker, giving the answer a plain, front-loaded structure typical of 6.5. A 7.0 answer would more likely open with 'Yes, definitely, I'd say...' to soften the claim.这是一个简短、直接的开头陈述,没有任何缓和语或话语标记,给答案带来了6.5典型的平实、前置式结构。7.0的答案更可能会以 'Yes, definitely, I'd say...' 开头来软化这个论断。
    • LRThis kind of detail helps students connect with history'Connect with' is a serviceable but common collocation. A higher band would likely pair it with a more specific or vivid noun than the generic 'detail' used here.'Connect with' 是一个够用但常见的搭配。更高的分数段很可能会把它和一个比这里使用的笼统的 'detail' 更具体或更生动的名词搭配在一起。
    • GRAMy grandmother often tells me stories about her childhood in Hue, and that taught me more about that time than any textbook. This is a simple compound sentence joined with 'and', accurate but grammatically basic. A 7.0 or 7.5 answer would more likely embed extra information through a relative clause or an appositive instead of a plain coordinator.这是一个用 'and' 连接的简单并列句,准确但语法基础。7.0或7.5的答案更可能会通过一个关系从句或同位语来嵌入额外的信息,而不是一个平实的并列连词。
    7.0 分

The 7.0 answer inserts the spoken filler 'Honestly' before a long, multi-clause comparison and closes with the hedge 'To be fair', showing more natural reflection than the flatter 6.5 version.7.0的答案在一个长的、多从句的比较之前插入了口语填充词 'Honestly',并以缓和语 'To be fair' 收尾,比更平淡的6.5版本展现出更自然的反思。

Yes, definitely, I'd say that would make history feel a lot more human and relatable. Honestly, knowing that a battle happened in a particular year matters less to me than understanding how ordinary people actually lived, what they ate, how they worked, what they worried about day to day. My grandmother often tells stories about her childhood in Hue, and those stories taught me more about that era, emotionally at least, than any textbook chapter managed to. To be fair, that kind of everyday detail is what really helps students connect with history, rather than just memorizing it as a list of dates.

This shows more developed coherence management typical of 7.0.开头的填充词 'Honestly' 在一个长比较之前标志着一种自然的、未经排练的思路,而6.5的答案缺乏这一点。这展现出7.0典型的更成熟的连贯性管理。
    • LRthose stories taught me more about that era, emotionally at least, than any textbook chapter managed toThe inserted qualifier 'emotionally at least' adds a moderately complex mild qualification not seen at 6.5, showing more nuanced control of meaning. It is not yet the strikingly precise word choice that would mark 7.5.插入的限定语 'emotionally at least' 加入了一种中等复杂度的温和限定,这在6.5中是看不到的,展现出对意义更细腻的掌控。但它还没达到能标志7.5的那种惊艳精确的用词。

It shows controlled use of a moderately advanced sentence pattern.这句话用了一个类似强调句的结构('what really helps students connect'),加上一个 'rather than' 对比从句,比6.5中简单的并列句更复杂。它展现出对一个中等高级的句型可控的使用。

My grandmother's stories about growing up in Hue, oddly enough, taught me more about that era emotionally than any textbook chapter ever managed to. Most of us remember the big dynasties or famous names, but not the small details that historians actually study. I'm like that too. 6.5 分

The 6.5 answer sticks to one long but simply linked sentence for its example, joined with plain 'and', and closes with the modest comparative 'getting better and better' rather than a more precise phrase.6.5的答案坚持用一个长但简单连接的句子来举例,用平实的 'and' 连接,并以温和的比较级 'getting better and better' 收尾,而不是一个更精确的短语。

I think it already has, honestly. Digital archives, 3D models of old sites, and online museums let people explore history from anywhere, without needing to travel. I've used an augmented reality app at a historical site near Hue that showed how a ruined building used to look, and it helped me understand it much better than just reading a sign. 为什么是这个分数

    • FCI think it already has, honestly. This short opening statement is direct and unadorned, giving an immediate answer with minimal elaboration or reflection. A 7.0 answer would more likely open in a similar way but follow it with a hedge before moving into the example.这个简短的开头陈述直接、不加修饰,给出了一个即时的答案,几乎没有阐述或反思。7.0的答案更可能会以类似的方式开头,但在进入例子之前先加一个缓和语。

A higher band would likely replace this with a more specific verb like 'deepened' to convey the same idea more precisely.'Helped me understand it much better' 是一种平实、笼统的方式来描述这种提升。更高的分数段很可能会用一个更具体的动词,比如 'deepened',来更精确地表达同样的想法。
    • GRAI've used an augmented reality app at a historical site near Hue that showed how a ruined building used to look, and it helped me understand it much better than just reading a sign. This long sentence relies on a simple relative clause plus a coordinator 'and' to add the second idea, accurate but structurally plain. Higher bands tend to restructure this kind of example with a fronted participial clause instead of a coordinated addition.这个长句依靠一个简单的关系从句加上一个并列连词 'and' 来加入第二个想法,准确但结构平实。更高的分数段往往会用一个前置的分词从句来重新组织这种例子,而不是一个并列附加成分。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCTo be fair, technology also helps researchers analyze artifacts more precisely than before. The hedge 'To be fair' introduces a supporting point as a considered addition rather than a flat list item, showing more natural spoken reasoning than the plain 'also' sentence used at 6.5. It signals the speaker weighing the point before adding it.缓和语 'To be fair' 把一个支撑论点引出为一个经过斟酌的补充,而不是一个平淡的列表项,比6.5使用的平实的 'also' 句子展现出更自然的口语推理。它标志着说话者在加入这个观点之前先权衡过它。
    • LRit genuinely deepened my understanding compared with just reading a plaque'Deepened my understanding' is a more precise collocation than the generic 'helped me understand it much better' used at 6.5. It shows a moderate step up in lexical specificity without yet being a rare or highly idiomatic phrase.'Deepened my understanding' 是一个比6.5使用的笼统的 'helped me understand it much better' 更精确的搭配。它展现出词汇具体性上适度的提升,但还不是一个罕见或高度地道的短语。
    • GRASo I'd say access and understanding are both improving steadily, even if some mysteries about the distant past will probably always stay unresolved. This sentence combines a reporting frame ('I'd say') with an 'even if' concession clause, a more complex structure than the plain coordinated sentence at 6.5. It shows controlled use of concession, a feature associated with 7.0 grammatical range.这句话把一个引导框架('I'd say')和一个 'even if' 让步从句结合在一起,比6.5中平实的并列句更复杂。它展现出对让步这一特征的可控使用,这是与7.0语法广度相关的特征。

Using an augmented reality app at a historical site near Hue, I watched a long-ruined structure snap back into its original form on screen, which deepened my understanding far more than any plaque could. There's also the issue of historical gaps that even historians can't fill with certainty, so some creative interpretation becomes unavoidable either way. I think the huge amount of digital information will actually be a strange problem, too much rather than too little. A higher band would more likely open this same closing idea with an evaluative word signaling the irony involved.这个结尾句用平实的连接词 'So' 直接总结了这个想法,没有任何像 'ironically' 这样的反思性标记。更高的分数段更可能会用一个标志着其中反讽意味的评价性词语来引出这个同样的结尾想法。
    • LRGoing through endless social media posts, deleted websites, and messy digital records'Going through' and 'messy digital records' are plain, everyday word choices for this idea. A higher band would likely use more specific vocabulary such as 'sorting through' and 'inconsistent digital records' instead.'Going through' 和 'messy digital records' 是这个想法平实、日常的用词选择。更高的分数段很可能会改用更具体的词汇,比如 'sorting through' 和 'inconsistent digital records'。
    • GRAThere's also the problem of knowing what is a reliable source when online content can be edited or faked so easily. The embedded question here uses statement word order ('what is a reliable source') instead of the more natural noun-clause form, a minor grammatical slip typical of 6.5. A higher band would more likely phrase this as 'what even counts as a reliable source' with correct clause structure.这里的嵌入式问句用了陈述句语序('what is a reliable source'),而不是更自然的名词从句形式,这是6.5典型的一个小语法失误。更高的分数段更可能会把它表述为 'what even counts as a reliable source',使用正确的从句结构。
    7.0 分

The 7.0 answer upgrades the plain 'huge amount' to the moderately formal collocation 'the sheer volume of digital information' and opens its closing sentence with the spoken marker 'Ironically', showing more natural reflection than the flat 6.5 ending.7.0的答案把平实的 'huge amount' 升级为适度正式的搭配 'the sheer volume of digital information',并用口语化的标记词 'Ironically' 引出结尾句,比6.5平淡的结尾展现出更自然的反思。

I think the sheer volume of digital information will actually turn out to be a strange kind of challenge, almost too much rather than too little. Sorting through endless social media posts, deleted websites, and inconsistent digital records could be harder than it sounds, especially as platforms shut down or change over time. There's also the question of what even counts as a reliable source when so much online content can be edited or faked. Ironically, I'd say future historians might struggle more with filtering an overwhelming, messy digital record than earlier historians did with the relative scarcity of physical documents.

    • FCIronically, I'd say future historians might struggle more with filtering an overwhelming, messy digital record than earlier historians did with the relative scarcity of physical documents.Opening the closing sentence with 'Ironically' explicitly flags the reflective twist in the idea, something the 6.5 answer's plain 'So' connector does not do. This shows a more natural, considered way of framing the conclusion, typical of 7.0.以 'Ironically' 开启结尾句,明确标出了这个想法里的反思性转折,而6.5答案里平实的 'So' 连接词没有做到这一点。这展现出7.0典型的、更自然、更经过考虑的框定结论的方式。
    • LRthe sheer volume of digital information'The sheer volume of' is a more precise, moderately formal collocation than the plain 'the huge amount of' used at 6.5. It shows a clear step up in lexical range while remaining a fairly accessible phrase overall.'The sheer volume of' 是一个比6.5使用的平实的 'the huge amount of' 更精确、适度正式的搭配。它展现出词汇范围上明显的提升,同时整体上仍然是一个相当容易理解的短语。
    • GRAThere's also the question of what even counts as a reliable source when so much online content can be edited or faked. This embedded clause correctly uses natural noun-clause word order ('what even counts as') rather than the statement-order error seen at 6.5. It shows firmer grammatical control of embedded questions, a feature expected at 7.0.这个嵌入从句正确使用了自然的名词从句语序('what even counts as'),而不是6.5中出现的陈述句语序错误。它展现出对嵌入式问句更牢固的语法掌控,这是7.0所期望的一个特征。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer fronts a participial phrase, 'Wading through endless social media posts...', and reaches for the less-common, vivid noun 'deluge' instead of the plainer 'record', giving it more compact and idiomatic phrasing than the 7.0 version.7.5的答案前置了一个分词短语 'Wading through endless social media posts...',并选用了不太常见、生动的名词 'deluge',取代了更平实的 'record',比7.0版本展现出更紧凑、更地道的措辞。

I think the sheer volume of digital information will end up being a strangely inverted challenge, too much rather than too little. Wading through endless social media posts, deleted websites, and inconsistent digital records could prove trickier than it sounds, especially as platforms vanish or morph over time. There's also the thorny question of what even counts as a reliable source once online content can be edited or faked at will. Ironically, future historians may end up wrestling more with an overwhelming, messy digital deluge than earlier historians ever did with the relative scarcity of physical documents.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCIronically, future historians may end up wrestling more with an overwhelming, messy digital deluge than earlier historians ever did with the relative scarcity of physical documents.Stating the irony directly through 'may end up wrestling with' rather than routing it through a reporting frame like 'I'd say' shows a more assured, direct way of landing the final point than the 7.0 version. The idea is delivered with more economy and confidence.通过 'may end up wrestling with' 直接陈述这种反讽,而不是通过像 'I'd say' 这样的引导框架来传达,展现出比7.0版本更自信、更直接的落点方式。这个想法的传达更精简、更有信心。
    • LRan overwhelming, messy digital deluge'Deluge' is a vivid, genuinely less-common word choice compared to the plainer 'record' used at 7.0, evoking the idea of being overwhelmed more precisely. This kind of striking, well-chosen vocabulary is characteristic of 7.5 lexical resource.'Deluge' 是一个生动、真正不太常见的用词选择,相比7.0使用的更平实的 'record',更精确地唤起了被淹没的感觉。这种引人注目、精心挑选的词汇是7.5词汇资源的特征。
    • GRAWading through endless social media posts, deleted websites, and inconsistent digital records could prove trickier than it sounds, especially as platforms vanish or morph over time. This sentence opens with a fronted participial phrase ('Wading through...') instead of the straightforward 'Sorting through...' gerund-subject construction used at 7.0. Combined with the varied verb pair 'vanish or morph', it shows a more flexible and idiomatic grasp of sentence-opening options.这句话以一个前置的分词短语('Wading through...')开头,而不是7.0使用的直接的 'Sorting through...' 动名词主语结构。再加上多样化的动词搭配 'vanish or morph',它展现出对句子开头选项更灵活、更地道的掌握。

Uses the short, direct opener 'Yes, I think it's good', a safe and clear but very plain way to start the answer.使用了简短、直接的开头 'Yes, I think it's good',这是一种保险、清晰但非常平实的开头方式。

Yes, I think it's good for children to start learning history early. When I was in primary school in Hue, our teacher, Ms. Dao, took us on a trip to the old Thanh Toan Bridge, which is a well-preserved historic site near the city. We were only about eight or nine, but she told us stories about the bridge and the local villagers, and I still remember feeling fascinated. I think experiences like this make history feel real for young children. Of course, not every child will enjoy it right away, but stories and short trips help build interest early on.

    • FCI still remember feeling fascinatedThis is a plain statement of the outcome. The 7.0 answer adds the intensifier 'genuinely', and the 7.5 answer replaces the whole phrase with 'that fascination has genuinely stayed with me', folding the memory into a more reflective, ongoing image.这是对结果的平实陈述。7.0的答案加入了强调词 'genuinely',而7.5的答案把整个短语替换成了 'that fascination has genuinely stayed with me',把这段记忆融入了一个更具反思性、持续性的意象里。
    • LRwell-preserved historic siteThis is a fine, functional descriptive phrase. The 7.5 answer's 'beautifully preserved historic site' swaps in a more vivid adjective, giving the same description a touch more colour.这是一个尚可、功能性的描述短语。7.5答案中的 'beautifully preserved historic site' 换用了一个更生动的形容词,给同样的描述增添了一点色彩。
    • GRAWe were only about eight or nine, but she told us stories about the bridge and the local villagers, and I still remember feeling fascinated. This sentence chains three clauses together with 'but' and 'and', workable but somewhat mechanical. The 7.5 answer restructures a similar idea using a dash and the more active verb phrase 'wove in stories', showing a more deliberate, varied sentence shape.这句话用 'but' 和 'and' 把三个分句串联在一起,虽然可行但略显机械。7.5的答案用破折号和更具动感的动词短语 'wove in stories' 重新组织了类似的想法,展现出更经过斟酌、更多样化的句子结构。

The aside 'who might otherwise find it a bit abstract' adds a reflective justification that the flatter 6.5 statement doesn't attempt.插入语 'who might otherwise find it a bit abstract' 加入了一层反思性的论证依据,而更平淡的6.5陈述没有尝试这样做。

Yes, I definitely think it's good for children to start learning history early. Actually, when I was in primary school in Hue, our teacher, Ms. Dao, organised a field trip to the old Thanh Toan Bridge, a really well-preserved historic site just outside the city. We were only about eight or nine at the time, but she explained the stories behind the bridge and the local villagers, and I still remember feeling genuinely fascinated. I'd say those kinds of experiences make history feel more real and memorable, even for young kids, who might otherwise find it a bit abstract. Of course, not every child takes to it immediately, but introducing history through stories or short visits does seem to help build interest early on.

    • FCActually, when I was in primary school in HueThis discourse marker 'Actually,' signals the shift into the anecdote more conversationally than the 6.5 answer's plain 'When I was in primary school'. The 7.5 answer drops the marker entirely and opens directly with the anecdote, relying on sentence rhythm instead.话语标记词 'Actually,' 比6.5答案里平实的 'When I was in primary school' 更口语化地标志着转入轶事的过渡。7.5的答案完全去掉了这个标记词,直接以轶事开头,转而依靠句子的节奏感。
    • LRgenuinely fascinatedAdding the intensifier 'genuinely' to 'fascinated' gives slightly more emotional weight than the plain 'fascinated' at 6.5. The 7.5 answer expresses a similar intensity differently, through the phrase 'has genuinely stayed with me', which emphasises duration rather than intensity.在 'fascinated' 前加上强调词 'genuinely',比6.5中平实的 'fascinated' 多了一点情感分量。7.5的答案用不同的方式表达了类似的强度,通过短语 'has genuinely stayed with me',强调的是持续性而不是强度。
    • GRAthose kinds of experiences make history feel more real and memorable, even for young kids, who might otherwise find it a bit abstractThis sentence adds a relative clause onto the main claim, more developed than the simple equivalent at 6.5. The 7.5 answer achieves a similar contrast between concrete and abstract using a differently placed clause, 'which is exactly what young children need before facts start to mean anything', showing comparable but not identical complexity.这句话在主要论断上加了一个关系从句,比6.5中简单的对应句更完整。7.5的答案用一个位置不同的从句 'which is exactly what young children need before facts start to mean anything' 实现了类似的具体与抽象之间的对比,展现出相当但不完全相同的复杂程度。

The closing image 'plant something that lasts' turns a simple claim about interest into a small, memorable metaphor.结尾的意象 'plant something that lasts' 把一个简单的关于兴趣的论断变成了一个小而令人难忘的隐喻。

Yes, I'd say it's genuinely valuable for children to start learning history early, though the method matters as much as the age. When I was in primary school in Hue, our teacher, Ms. Dao, organised a field trip to the old Thanh Toan Bridge, a beautifully preserved historic site just outside the city — we were only about eight or nine, but she wove in stories about the bridge and the villagers who'd lived alongside it, and that fascination has genuinely stayed with me. Experiences like that make history tangible rather than abstract, which is exactly what young children need before facts start to mean anything. Not every child will take to it immediately, of course, but introducing history through stories or short visits, rather than dates on a page, tends to plant something that lasts.

    • FCthat fascination has genuinely stayed with meThis phrase frames the childhood memory as something ongoing into the present, a more reflective move than the simple past-tense claims at 6.5 and 7.0. It shows the anecdote feeding directly into the argument rather than sitting beside it.这个短语把童年的记忆框定为一件延续到现在的事情,比6.5和7.0中简单的过去时论断更具反思性。它展现出这段轶事直接为论点提供支撑,而不是与论点并列存在。
    • LRtends to plant something that lastsThis metaphorical closing phrase is far more vivid than the plain 'help build interest early on' at 6.5 and 7.0, exemplifying the more creative, idiomatic lexis expected at the top band.这个带有隐喻色彩的结尾短语,比6.5和7.0中平实的 'help build interest early on' 生动得多,体现了最高分数段所期望的更具创意、更地道的词汇。
    • GRAshe wove in stories about the bridge and the villagers who'd lived alongside it, and that fascination has genuinely stayed with meThis sentence uses the more active verb phrase 'wove in' plus an embedded relative clause and a resulting clause, a denser structure than the equivalent sentences at 6.5 and 7.0. It shows tighter, more flexible control over how ideas are packed together.这句话用了更具动感的动词短语 'wove in',加上一个嵌入的关系从句和一个结果从句,比6.5和7.0中对应的句子结构更紧密。它展现出对如何把想法组合在一起更紧凑、更灵活的掌控力。

Uses two separate short sentences to state the age and the reason, 'maybe around six or seven. At that age...', a plain step-by-step structure.用两个独立的短句分别陈述年龄和理由,'maybe around six or seven. At that age...',是一种平实的、按部就班的结构。

Personally, I think people should start learning history quite early, maybe around six or seven. At that age, kids are naturally curious about stories and how things happened, so it's a good time to teach them the basics, like local legends or important events. For example, when my cousin Phuong was about seven, my aunt took her to the site of the Battle of Mang Ca in Hue. She didn't understand all the details, but she came back asking questions and wanted to know more about the city's old gates. Of course, the content should match their age, but starting young helps the knowledge stick.

    • FCFor example, when my cousin Phuong was about sevenThe 6.5 answer signals the example with the formulaic 'For example,'. The 7.0 answer instead folds this into 'For example, I remember when', and 7.5 drops the marker entirely, opening with 'My cousin Phuong is a good illustration:', each reducing reliance on the fixed phrase.6.5的答案用公式化的 'For example,' 来引出例子。7.0的答案则把它融入 'For example, I remember when' 中,而7.5完全去掉了这个标记词,以 'My cousin Phuong is a good illustration:' 开头,每一级都在减少对固定短语的依赖。
    • LRShe didn't understand all the detailsThis is plain, direct phrasing. The 7.5 answer's 'she didn't grasp the finer details' is slightly more precise, and 'peppering everyone with questions' later in the same sentence is considerably more vivid than the plain 'came back asking questions' at 6.5.这是平实、直接的措辞。7.5答案中的 'she didn't grasp the finer details' 稍微更精确,而同一句话后面的 'peppering everyone with questions' 比6.5中平实的 'came back asking questions' 生动得多。
    • GRAShe didn't understand all the details, but she came back asking questions and wanted to know more about the city's old gates. This sentence links two ideas with 'but' and 'and', clear but fairly basic. The 7.5 answer expresses a similar contrast using 'although' as a subordinator plus a more layered closing clause, showing wider grammatical range.这句话用 'but' 和 'and' 连接了两个想法,清晰但相当基础。7.5的答案用从属连词 'although' 加上一个更有层次的结尾从句表达了类似的对比,展现出更广的语法范围。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCI remember when my cousin Phuong was about seven, my aunt took her to the siteThis phrase integrates the recall marker directly into the sentence introducing the anecdote, a more fluid move than the 6.5 answer's separate 'For example,' opener. The 7.5 answer achieves an even more integrated version, opening straight with 'My cousin Phuong is a good illustration:'.这个短语把回忆标记词直接融入了引出轶事的句子里,比6.5答案里独立的 'For example,' 开头更流畅。7.5的答案实现了更进一步的融合,直接以 'My cousin Phuong is a good illustration:' 开头。
    • LRcame back asking questions about the past and wanting to know moreThis is a clear, workable description. The 7.5 answer's 'came home peppering everyone with questions about the past' uses a much more vivid, idiomatic verb, 'peppering', in place of the plain 'asking'.这是一个清晰、可行的描述。7.5答案中的 'came home peppering everyone with questions about the past' 用了一个更生动、更地道的动词 'peppering',取代了平实的 'asking'。
    • GRAeven though she didn't fully grasp the details, she came back asking questions about the past and wanting to know more about the city's old gatesThis sentence uses a concessive 'even though' clause plus two coordinated participle phrases, more developed than the simpler 'but... and' structure at 6.5. It approaches the complexity of the 7.5 answer, which achieves a similar concession using 'although' instead.这句话用了一个表让步的 'even though' 从句,加上两个并列的分词短语,比6.5更简单的 'but... and' 结构更完整。它接近于7.5答案的复杂程度,后者用 'although' 实现了类似的让步。

The closing comparison, 'lays a foundation that sticks in a way teenage learning rarely manages', gives the argument a confident, evaluative finish.结尾的比较 'lays a foundation that sticks in a way teenage learning rarely manages',给整个论点带来了一个自信、带有评价性的收尾。

Personally, I'd start people learning history quite early, around primary school age, say six or seven, when curiosity about stories and how things came to be is still completely unforced. That's the ideal window to introduce the basics — local legends, important national events — before it starts to feel like a subject rather than a story. My cousin Phuong is a good illustration: my aunt took her to the site of the Battle of Mang Ca in Hue when she was about seven, and although she didn't grasp the finer details, she came home peppering everyone with questions about the past and the city's old gates. The content obviously needs to be age-appropriate, but starting young lays a foundation that sticks in a way teenage learning rarely manages.

    • FCMy cousin Phuong is a good illustration:This colon-based transition integrates the example smoothly into the argument's flow, more economical than the 7.0 answer's 'For example, I remember when' and considerably more integrated than the 6.5 answer's separate 'For example,' sentence.这个以冒号为基础的过渡把例子顺畅地融入了论点的流动中,比7.0答案里的 'For example, I remember when' 更精简,也比6.5答案里独立的 'For example,' 句子融合得多得多。
    • LRpeppering everyone with questionsThis is a vivid, idiomatic verb phrase for enthusiastic curiosity, well beyond the plain 'asking questions' at 6.5 and 'came back asking questions' at 7.0, exemplifying the more creative lexis expected at the top band.这是一个用来形容热切好奇心的生动、地道的动词短语,远超6.5中平实的 'asking questions' 和7.0中的 'came back asking questions',体现了最高分数段所期望的更具创意的词汇。
    • GRAalthough she didn't grasp the finer details, she came home peppering everyone with questions about the past and the city's old gatesThis sentence uses a concessive 'although' clause plus a vivid present participle phrase, a more compact and stylistically confident structure than the equivalent sentences at 6.5 and 7.0, which rely on more standard connectors.

    • FCIt wasn't like a real lesson, but it made me curious. The 6.5 answer states the outcome in a short, separate sentence joined by 'but'. • GRAHe explained where the coins came from and told a few stories about how he got them from his own father in Hue.This sentence coordinates two verb phrases with 'and', clear but structurally simple. The 7.5 answer expresses a similar idea using two parallel present participle phrases, 'explaining... and spinning...', a more compact non-finite structure.这句话用 'and' 并列了两个动词短语,清晰但结构简单。7.5的答案用两个平行的现在分词短语 'explaining... and spinning...' 表达了类似的想法,是一种更紧凑的非限定结构。

The aside 'at least in my experience' qualifies the generalisation more carefully than the flatter claim in the 6.5 answer.插入语 'at least in my experience' 比6.5答案中更平淡的论断更谨慎地限定了这个概括性说法。

I think a lot of children learn about history quite informally before school, mainly through family stories or even just casual conversations at home. For me, I remember my dad showing me a small collection of old coins and bills one afternoon when I was about five or six, explaining where they came from and telling a few stories about how he'd got them from his own father in Hue. It wasn't anything like a proper lesson, but it definitely sparked my curiosity. I guess for most kids — at least in my experience — history comes alive first through these personal stories, not textbooks.

    • FCI guess for most kids — at least in my experienceThis dash-marked qualification softens the generalisation more naturally than the plain, unqualified claim at 6.5. The 7.5 answer achieves a similar effect more economically with the single inserted verb 'I suspect,' in the middle of the sentence.这个用破折号标出的限定语,比6.5中平实、不加限定的论断更自然地软化了这个概括说法。7.5的答案用插入在句中的单个动词 'I suspect,' 更精简地实现了类似的效果。
    • LRdefinitely sparked my curiosityThis is a clear, emphatic phrase, an improvement on the plain 'made me curious' at 6.5. The 7.5 answer's 'quietly sparked a curiosity that never really left' extends the same idea with a more vivid, lasting image.这是一个清晰、有力的短语,比6.5中平实的 'made me curious' 有所提升。7.5答案中的 'quietly sparked a curiosity that never really left' 用一个更生动、更持久的意象延伸了同样的想法。
    • GRAexplaining where they came from and telling a few stories about how he'd got them from his own father in HueThis uses two parallel present participle phrases attached to the main clause, more developed than the coordinated finite verbs at 6.5. It closely matches the structure of the 7.5 answer, differing mainly in small lexical choices like 'spinning' versus 'telling'.这里用了两个附加在主句上的平行现在分词短语,比6.5中并列的限定动词更完整。它与7.5答案的结构非常接近,主要区别在于像 'spinning' 对比 'telling' 这样的细微用词选择。
    7.5 分

The closing image, 'families that make a habit of sharing memories', turns a simple final qualification into a slightly more textured observation.结尾的意象 'families that make a habit of sharing memories',把一个简单的最后限定语变成了一个略有质感的观察。

I'd say a lot of children pick up history quite informally before they ever set foot in a classroom, mainly through family stories or casual conversation at home. I remember my dad laying out a small collection of old coins and bills one afternoon when I was about five or six, explaining where each one came from and spinning a few stories about how he'd inherited them from his own father in Hue. It was nothing like a proper lesson, but it quietly sparked a curiosity that never really left. For most kids, I suspect, history comes alive first through these personal, half-remembered stories rather than through textbooks. Not every child gets that exposure, of course, but it's fairly common in families that make a habit of sharing memories.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCI suspect, history comes alive first through these personal, half-remembered storiesInserting the hedge 'I suspect' mid-sentence, rather than at the start as in the 6.5 and 7.0 answers, shows a more integrated, less formulaic way of softening a claim.把缓和语 'I suspect' 插入句中,而不是像6.5和7.0答案那样放在句首,展现出一种更融合、更少公式化的软化论断的方式。
    • LRhalf-remembered storiesThis compound adjective adds a layer of nostalgic vagueness that neither lower band attempts, a more evocative and precise description than the plain 'personal stories' at 6.5 and 7.0.这个复合形容词增添了一层怀旧的朦胧感,是两个较低分数段都没有尝试过的,比6.5和7.0中平实的 'personal stories' 更具唤起力、更精确。
    • GRAa curiosity that never really leftThis relative clause turns a simple past event into an ongoing state, a more flexible use of grammar than the plain past-tense statements at 6.5 ('made me curious') and 7.0 ('sparked my curiosity'), showing how tense choice itself can add sophistication.这个关系从句把一个简单的过去事件变成了一种持续的状态,比6.5('made me curious')和7.0('sparked my curiosity')中平实的过去时陈述更灵活地运用了语法,展现出时态选择本身也能增加复杂度。

Closes with a single 'Still,' sentence recommending a fix, a plain and slightly abrupt way to end the argument.以一个单独的 'Still,' 句子结尾,提出一个改进建议,这是一种平实、略显突兀的结束论点的方式。

To be honest, I think most students don't really enjoy learning history at school. The usual approach is very textbook-heavy and focused on memorising dates, which feels boring for a lot of people. For example, my younger cousin Ha was in grade nine in Hue, and she told me she hated history classes because they were mostly about remembering timelines for exams. She liked subjects where she could do hands-on projects instead, like science experiments. Still, I think if teachers made history more interactive, with field trips or storytelling, more students would probably enjoy it.

    • FCFor example, my younger cousin Ha was in grade nine in HueThe 6.5 answer signals the example with the formulaic 'For example,'. The 7.0 answer softens this slightly with 'For example, back when', and 7.5 drops the marker altogether, introducing the cousin directly as the sentence's subject.6.5的答案用公式化的 'For example,' 来引出例子。7.0的答案用 'For example, back when' 稍微软化了这个标记,而7.5完全去掉了标记词,直接把表妹作为句子的主语引出。
    • LRshe told me she hated history classesThis is plain, direct reported speech. The 7.5 answer's 'put it bluntly: she dreaded history classes' adds an evaluative framing verb plus a colon, giving the same information more rhetorical weight.这是平实、直接的转述。7.5答案中的 'put it bluntly: she dreaded history classes' 加了一个带评价色彩的引导动词加上冒号,给同样的信息增添了更多修辞分量。
    • GRAShe liked subjects where she could do hands-on projects instead, like science experiments. This is a simple relative clause plus a 'like' example, workable but basic. The 7.5 answer expresses a similar idea using a much longer list ending in 'anything with a tangible outcome', showing greater structural ambition.这是一个简单的关系从句加上一个用 'like' 引出的例子,可行但基础。7.5的答案用一个长得多的列表表达了类似的想法,以 'anything with a tangible outcome' 结尾,展现出更大的结构野心。
    7.0 分

The aside 'say' after the examples of field trips and storytelling adds a light, conversational touch beyond the plainer 6.5 phrasing.在实地考察和讲故事的例子后面加上插入语 'say',比6.5更平实的措辞多了一点轻松、口语化的色彩。

To be honest, I'd say most students don't really enjoy learning history at school, at least not in my experience. The typical approach tends to be quite textbook-heavy and focused on memorising dates and facts, which feels pretty dry for a lot of people. For example, back when my younger cousin Ha was in grade nine in Hue, she told me she dreaded history classes because they were mostly about reciting timelines for the exams. She was much more drawn to subjects where she could do hands-on projects, like science experiments or group presentations. That said, I think if teachers made history more interactive — through field trips or storytelling, say — more students might actually find it engaging.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCshe told me she dreaded history classesThis reported speech uses the more emotionally loaded verb 'dreaded' rather than the plain 'hated' at 6.5, a small but real upgrade in precision. The 7.5 answer keeps 'dreaded' but adds the framing 'put it bluntly:', pushing the register further.这段转述用了情感色彩更强的动词 'dreaded',而不是6.5中平实的 'hated',这是一个小但真实的精确度提升。7.5的答案保留了 'dreaded',但加上了引导语 'put it bluntly:',把语域进一步推高。
    • LRdreadedThis verb conveys stronger, more specific negative feeling than the plain 'hated' used at 6.5, showing a step up in precision even before the 7.5 answer's further embellishment.这个动词比6.5中平实的 'hated' 传达出更强烈、更具体的负面情绪,展现出精确度的提升,甚至在7.5答案进一步的修饰之前就已经如此。
    • GRAShe was much more drawn to subjects where she could do hands-on projects, like science experiments or group presentationsThis sentence extends the relative clause with a longer list than the 6.5 equivalent, showing more development. The 7.5 answer achieves a similar list but ends with the more abstract closing item 'anything with a tangible outcome', extending the pattern further.这句话用一个比6.5对应句更长的列表扩展了关系从句,展现出更多的发展。7.5的答案实现了类似的列表,但以更抽象的结尾项 'anything with a tangible outcome' 收尾,把这个模式进一步延伸了。

The closing conditional, 'give students field trips or storytelling instead of a timeline to memorise, and a lot of that reluctance would probably disappear', ends on an imagined solution rather than a flat recommendation.结尾的条件句 'give students field trips or storytelling instead of a timeline to memorise, and a lot of that reluctance would probably disappear',以一个设想中的解决方案收尾,而不是一个平淡的建议。

Honestly, I'd say most students don't really enjoy history at school, at least not the way it's usually taught. The standard approach tends to be textbook-heavy and fixated on memorising dates and facts, which drains the life out of it for a lot of people. My younger cousin Ha, who was in grade nine in Hue, put it bluntly: she dreaded history classes because they amounted to reciting timelines for exams, whereas she genuinely lit up doing hands-on work — science experiments, group presentations, anything with a tangible outcome. That said, I suspect it's the delivery rather than the subject itself that's the problem; give students field trips or storytelling instead of a timeline to memorise, and a lot of that reluctance would probably disappear.

    • FCput it bluntly: she dreaded history classesThis framing verb plus colon presents the cousin's complaint as a direct, quotable judgement, a more dramatic move than the plain reported speech at 6.5 and 7.0. It shows more deliberate control over how information is delivered.这个引导动词加冒号,把表妹的抱怨呈现为一个直接的、可引用的评断,比6.5和7.0中平实的转述更具戏剧性。它展现出对信息传达方式更经过斟酌的掌控。
    • LRdrains the life out of itThis vivid, idiomatic image for boredom is far more expressive than the plain 'feels boring' at 6.5 or 'feels pretty dry' at 7.0, exemplifying the more creative lexis expected at 7.5.这个生动、地道的形容枯燥的意象,比6.5中平实的 'feels boring' 或7.0中的 'feels pretty dry' 表现力强得多,体现了7.5预期的更具创意的词汇。
    • GRAgive students field trips or storytelling instead of a timeline to memorise, and a lot of that reluctance would probably disappearThis closing sentence uses an imperative-plus-result structure, 'give... and... would', a more flexible and idiomatic conditional pattern than the plain 'if' clauses used at 6.5 and 7.0.这个结尾句用了一个祈使句加结果的结构 'give... and... would',比6.5和7.0使用的平实 'if' 从句更灵活、更地道的条件句模式。

I think a lot of people find history boring because it often feels disconnected from their daily lives. If it's just memorising dates and names, it's hard to see why it matters. For example, my friend Trang in high school used to dread our history classes. She said the textbooks were just long blocks of text, with hardly any photos or stories about real people. It was just page after page of facts to remember for the next test. I understand her point, because without a personal connection, it's easy to lose interest in the subject.

    我觉得很多人觉得历史很无聊,是因为它常常让人感觉和日常生活脱节。如果只是记忆年代和名字,很难看出这有什么意义。举个例子,我高中的朋友阿庄以前很害怕我们的历史课。她说教科书就是一大段一大段的文字,几乎没有照片,也没有关于真实人物的故事。就只是一页又一页要为下次考试而记住的事实。我理解她的想法,因为如果没有个人层面的联系,很容易对这门学科失去兴趣。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCFor example, my friend Trang in high school used to dread our history classes. The 6.5 answer introduces Trang with the formulaic 'For example,' as a separate sentence. The 7.0 answer folds this into 'I remember my friend Trang...', and 7.5 removes the marker altogether, stating 'My friend Trang... used to dread our history classes for exactly this reason', linking it directly to the previous claim.6.5的答案用公式化的 'For example,' 作为一个独立的句子来引出阿庄。7.0的答案把它融入 'I remember my friend Trang...' 中,而7.5完全去掉了这个标记词,直接陈述 'My friend Trang... used to dread our history classes for exactly this reason',把它和前面的论断直接联系起来。
    • LRjust long blocks of textThis is plain, functional description. The 7.5 answer's 'dense blocks of text, barely a photo or a human story in sight' adds a more vivid, specific image to the same complaint.这是平实、功能性的描述。7.5答案中的 'dense blocks of text, barely a photo or a human story in sight' 给同样的抱怨增添了一个更生动、更具体的意象。
    • GRAShe said the textbooks were just long blocks of text, with hardly any photos or stories about real people. This is a simple reported statement with a 'with' phrase attached, workable but basic. The 7.5 answer restructures this into a semicolon-linked sentence with a more compressed final clause, showing tighter, more varied sentence control.这是一个简单的转述陈述,后面附加了一个 'with' 短语,可行但基础。7.5的答案把它重新组织成一个用分号连接的句子,加上一个更凝练的结尾从句,展现出更紧密、更多样化的句子掌控力。

I think a lot of people find history boring because, honestly, it often feels disconnected from their daily lives. If it's just memorising dates and names, it's hard to see why any of it actually matters. For example, I remember my friend Trang in high school used to dread our history classes, complaining that the textbooks were just long blocks of text with hardly any photos or stories about real people. Instead of vivid tales about emperors or ancient cities, it was just page after page of facts to remember for the next test. I can understand her point — without some kind of personal connection or a more engaging way of learning, it's easy to lose interest. Of course, some people do get into history later on, when a topic finally speaks to them personally.

    • FCcomplaining that the textbooks were just long blocks of textUsing the present participle 'complaining that' to attach Trang's complaint directly to the main clause is smoother than the 6.5 answer's separate sentence starting with 'She said'. The 7.5 answer achieves an even tighter link using a semicolon, 'for exactly this reason; she'd complain that'.用现在分词 'complaining that' 把阿庄的抱怨直接附加在主句上,比6.5答案里以 'She said' 开头的独立句子更流畅。7.5的答案用分号实现了更紧密的连接,'for exactly this reason; she'd complain that'。
    • LRvivid tales about emperors or ancient citiesThis is a specific, evocative phrase describing what the textbooks lacked, matching the sophistication of the 7.5 answer's identical phrase, both clearly ahead of the vaguer 'stories about real people' at 6.5.这是一个具体、有画面感的短语,描述了教科书所欠缺的东西,与7.5答案中相同的短语在复杂程度上不相上下,两者都明显领先于6.5中更模糊的 'stories about real people'。
    • GRAwithout some kind of personal connection or a more engaging way of learning, it's easy to lose interestThis sentence opens with a fronted prepositional phrase before the main clause, a moderately complex structure. The 7.5 answer achieves a similar fronted structure but replaces the main clause with a more vivid image, 'interest evaporates almost automatically', showing a further step in lexical and grammatical ambition.这句话在主句前面以一个前置的介词短语开头,是一种中等复杂度的结构。7.5的答案实现了类似的前置结构,但把主句替换成了一个更生动的意象 'interest evaporates almost automatically',展现出词汇和语法上更进一步的野心。
    7.5 分

The closing image, 'interest evaporates almost automatically', turns a plain cause-effect claim into a more vivid, almost scientific metaphor.结尾的意象 'interest evaporates almost automatically',把一个平实的因果论断变成了一个更生动、近乎科学化的隐喻。

Honestly, I think a lot of people find history boring because it feels so disconnected from their own lives — reduced to dates and names, it's hard to see why any of it should matter. My friend Trang in high school used to dread our history classes for exactly this reason; she'd complain that the textbooks were just dense blocks of text, barely a photo or a human story in sight. Instead of vivid tales about emperors or ancient cities, it was page after page of facts to memorise for the next test. I sympathise entirely: strip away any personal connection or engaging delivery, and interest evaporates almost automatically. That said, plenty of people do come round to history later, once they stumble on a topic that genuinely speaks to them.

    • FCfor exactly this reason; she'd complain thatThis semicolon-linked phrase ties Trang's complaint directly to the claim just made, a tighter cohesive link than the separate sentence at 6.5 or the participle phrase at 7.0. It shows confident control over punctuation as a linking device.这个用分号连接的短语,把阿庄的抱怨和刚刚提出的论断直接联系起来,比6.5中独立的句子或7.0中的分词短语衔接得更紧密。它展现出对标点符号作为连接手段的自信掌控。
    • LRinterest evaporates almost automaticallyThis is a vivid, almost scientific metaphor for losing interest, considerably more original than the plain 'it's easy to lose interest' shared by both 6.5 and 7.0, exemplifying the creative lexis expected at the top band.这是一个生动、近乎科学化的隐喻,用来形容失去兴趣,比6.5和7.0共用的平实 'it's easy to lose interest' 原创得多,体现了最高分数段所期望的创意词汇。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCSuddenly the past felt real, not just facts to remember. The 6.5 answer marks this shift with the plain adverb 'Suddenly' at the start of a short sentence. The 7.0 answer keeps a similar structure but adds more detail, 'full of personalities', and 7.5 restructures the same moment around a dash, 'it was full of personalities, textures, and small human details', both extending the observation further.6.5的答案用平实的副词 'Suddenly' 放在一个短句的开头来标记这个转折。7.0的答案保留了类似的结构,但加入了更多细节 'full of personalities',而7.5用一个破折号重新组织了同一个时刻,'it was full of personalities, textures, and small human details',两者都把这个观察进一步延伸了。
    • LRlet us hold some replica artifactsThis is plain, functional phrasing. The 7.5 answer's 'handing round replica artifacts for us to hold' uses a more active, vivid verb, 'handing round', in place of the neutral 'let us hold'.这是平实、功能性的措辞。7.5答案中的 'handing round replica artifacts for us to hold' 用了一个更具动感、更生动的动词 'handing round',取代了中性的 'let us hold'。
    • GRAHe shared stories about the families who lived there, and he let us hold some replica artifacts. This sentence coordinates two clauses with 'and', repeating the subject 'he', which is clear but slightly repetitive. The 7.5 answer avoids the repeated subject by using a non-finite clause instead, 'even handing round replica artifacts for us to hold', showing more economical grammar.这句话用 'and' 并列了两个从句,重复了主语 'he',虽然清晰但略显重复。7.5的答案通过用一个非限定从句 'even handing round replica artifacts for us to hold' 来避免重复主语,展现出更经济的语法。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCwhere the guide didn't just talk about old buildings — he shared storiesThis dash-marked structure builds anticipation before the key detail, more developed than the plain coordination at 6.5. The 7.5 answer achieves a similar but more elaborate effect, replacing 'didn't just talk about' with the more active 'skipped the usual lecture on... and instead told us about'.这个用破折号标出的结构在关键细节出现前制造了期待感,比6.5中平实的并列结构更完整。7.5的答案实现了类似但更精细的效果,把 'didn't just talk about' 替换成了更具动感的 'skipped the usual lecture on... and instead told us about'。
    • LRfull of personalitiesThis phrase adds a vivid, slightly abstract quality to the description of the past, an upgrade on the plain 'felt real' at 6.5. The 7.5 answer extends this further with 'personalities, textures, and small human details', a fuller and more sensory list.这个短语给对过去的描述增添了一种生动、略带抽象色彩的质感,是对6.5中平实的 'felt real' 的升级。7.5的答案用 'personalities, textures, and small human details' 进一步延伸了这一点,是一个更完整、更具感官色彩的列表。
    • GRASuddenly, the past felt real and full of personalities, not just facts to memorise. This sentence uses two coordinated adjectives after 'felt', a modest extension of the plain 6.5 sentence. The closing comparison, 'does more for engagement than any textbook chapter ever could', gives the ending a confident, emphatic finish.结尾的比较 'does more for engagement than any textbook chapter ever could',给整个结尾带来了一种自信、强调式的收尾。

Honestly, history tends to become far more appealing to young people once it stops feeling like a list of dates and starts feeling personal or interactive. My friend Thao once dragged me along on a local walking tour in Hoi An where the guide skipped the usual lecture on old buildings and instead told us about the actual families who'd lived behind those doors, even handing round replica artifacts for us to hold. Suddenly the past wasn't a set of facts to memorise — it was full of personalities, textures, and small human details.

    • FCskipped the usual lecture on old buildings and instead told us about the actual familiesThis phrase actively frames the guide's choice as a deliberate departure from convention, more dynamic than the plain 'didn't just talk about old buildings' shared by 6.5 and 7.0. It shows a more assertive, interpretive way of narrating the same event.这个短语把导游的选择主动地框定为一种有意为之地偏离常规的做法,比6.5和7.0共用的平实 'didn't just talk about old buildings' 更具动感。它展现出对同一事件更果断、更具解读性的叙述方式。
    • LRpersonalities, textures, and small human detailsThis three-item list is more sensory and specific than the single word 'personalities' used at 7.0 or the plain 'felt real' at 6.5, exemplifying the richer, more precise lexis expected at the top band.这个三项列表比7.0中单独的 'personalities' 或6.5中平实的 'felt real' 更具感官色彩、更具体,体现了最高分数段所期望的更丰富、更精确的词汇。
    • GRANot everyone converts into a history buff overnight, admittedly, but tying the subject to real lives and lived experience does more for engagement than any textbook chapter ever could. This closing sentence stacks a concessive aside, a metaphorical verb ('converts'), and a comparative structure with 'than... ever could', a considerably more elaborate construction than the simpler closing sentences at 6.5 and 7.0.这个结尾句叠加了一个表让步的插入语、一个带隐喻色彩的动词('converts'),以及一个用 'than... ever could' 构成的比较结构,比6.5和7.0中更简单的结尾句复杂精细得多。

Opens with the very direct 'Yes, I think it's important', a clear but plain restatement of the question typical of 6.5.以非常直接的 'Yes, I think it's important' 开头,这是一种清晰但平实的、对问题的复述,是6.5的典型特征。

Yes, I think it's important to learn how people in the past lived. Understanding their daily lives and struggles helps us see how our society has developed. For example, last year I visited the Hoa Lo Prison Relic in Hanoi with my friend Phuong. Walking through the old cells and seeing how prisoners survived on so little made history feel real, not just names and dates from a textbook. It gave me more respect for the people who lived through that time. Of course, not everyone finds these details interesting, but for me, they connect the past to daily life now.

    • FCIt gave me more respect for the people who lived through that time. The 6.5 answer states this outcome as a separate, short sentence. The 7.0 answer extends it slightly with 'a new sense of respect for the resilience people showed', and 7.5 folds a similar idea directly into the previous sentence, 'It left me with a new respect for the sheer resilience people showed back then', showing tighter integration.6.5的答案把这个结果表述为一个独立的短句。7.0的答案稍微延伸了它,用了 'a new sense of respect for the resilience people showed',而7.5把类似的想法直接融入了前一句,'It left me with a new respect for the sheer resilience people showed back then',展现出更紧密的融合。
    • LRmade history feel realThis is plain, general phrasing. The 7.5 answer's 'made the past feel suddenly tangible' is more precise and slightly more dramatic, using the adverb 'suddenly' to sharpen the moment.这是平实、笼统的措辞。7.5答案中的 'made the past feel suddenly tangible' 更精确,也略带戏剧性,用副词 'suddenly' 让这个瞬间更加鲜明。
    • GRAWalking through the old cells and seeing how prisoners survived on so little made history feel real, not just names and dates from a textbook. This sentence uses two coordinated gerund phrases as the subject, a reasonably complex structure. The 7.5 answer extends a similar structure with an added comparative clause, 'in a way no textbook date or name ever quite manages', showing further grammatical development.这句话用了两个并列的动名词短语作为主语,是一个相当复杂的结构。7.5的答案在类似的结构上加了一个比较从句 'in a way no textbook date or name ever quite manages',展现出进一步的语法发展。
    7.0 分

The closing comparison, 'which feels quite different from just memorising major political events', adds a reflective final layer beyond the plainer 6.5 ending.结尾的比较 'which feels quite different from just memorising major political events',在6.5更平实的结尾之上加了一层反思性的收尾。

Yes, I do think it's important to learn how people in the past lived. Honestly, understanding their everyday routines and struggles helps us make sense of how our own society has developed. For example, last year I visited the Hoa Lo Prison Relic in Hanoi with my friend Phuong, and walking through the old cells, seeing how prisoners survived on so little, really made history feel tangible — not just names and dates from a textbook. It gave me a new sense of respect for the resilience people showed back then. Of course, not everyone finds those kinds of details interesting, but for me they connect the past to daily life now, which feels quite different from just memorising major political events.

    • FCand walking through the old cells, seeing how prisoners survived on so little, really made history feel tangibleThis sentence embeds two parallel gerund phrases with commas before the main verb, a more layered structure than the simpler equivalent at 6.5. The 7.5 answer achieves a very similar structure, showing this pattern is already close to its natural ceiling by 7.0.这句话在主要动词前用逗号嵌入了两个平行的动名词短语,比6.5更简单的对应句更有层次。7.5的答案实现了非常相似的结构,说明这个模式在7.0时已经接近它的自然上限了。
    • LRa new sense of respect for the resilienceThis phrase adds the specific noun 'resilience', which is more precise than the general 'respect for the people' at 6.5. The 7.5 answer keeps this same noun, 'a new respect for the sheer resilience', adding only the intensifier 'sheer' for extra emphasis.这个短语加入了具体的名词 'resilience',比6.5中笼统的 'respect for the people' 更精确。7.5的答案保留了同一个名词,'a new respect for the sheer resilience',只是加了强调词 'sheer' 来加强语气。
    • GRAOf course, not everyone finds those kinds of details interesting, but for me they connect the past to daily life now, which feels quite different from just memorising major political events. This long sentence links a concession, a main claim, and a relative clause together, showing solid control. The 7.5 answer achieves a similar scope but reframes the final comparison more actively as 'rather than reducing it to a parade of political events', a slightly more vivid closing image.这个长句把一个让步、一个主要论断和一个关系从句连接在一起,展现出扎实的掌控力。7.5的答案实现了类似的规模,但把最后的比较更主动地重新表述为 'rather than reducing it to a parade of political events',这是一个稍微更生动的结尾意象。
    7.5 分

The closing phrase, 'rather than reducing it to a parade of political events', gives the ending a sharper, more critical edge than the plainer comparisons in the lower bands.结尾短语 'rather than reducing it to a parade of political events',给结尾带来了比较低分数段中更平实的比较更犀利、更具批判性的锋芒。

Yes, I genuinely think it matters — understanding how people in the past actually lived is what turns history from a list of facts into something that explains how we got here. Last year I visited the Hoa Lo Prison Relic in Hanoi with my friend Phuong, and walking through the old cells, seeing how prisoners survived on almost nothing, made the past feel suddenly tangible, in a way no textbook date or name ever quite manages. It left me with a new respect for the sheer resilience people showed back then. Not everyone finds these small, human details compelling, admittedly, but for me they're what actually connects the past to daily life now, rather than reducing it to a parade of political events.

    • FCunderstanding how people in the past actually lived is what turns history from a list of facts into something that explains how we got hereThis opening claim uses a cleft-like 'is what' structure to state the thesis with more rhetorical weight than the simple statements at 6.5 and 7.0. It frames the whole answer around a single, confidently stated idea from the very first sentence.这个开头的论断用了一个类似强调句的 'is what' 结构,比6.5和7.0中简单的陈述带有更多的修辞分量。它从第一句话开始就把整个答案框定在一个自信陈述的单一想法周围。
    • LRa parade of political eventsThis is a vivid, slightly ironic metaphor for a dry list of dates and battles, considerably more original than the plain 'major political events' shared by the lower bands, exemplifying the more creative lexis expected at 7.5.这是一个生动、略带讽刺意味的隐喻,用来形容一份枯燥的年代和战役清单,比较低分数段共用的平实 'major political events' 原创得多,体现了7.5所期望的更具创意的词汇。
    • GRAin a way no textbook date or name ever quite managesThis closing relative clause uses a negative comparative structure, 'no... ever quite manages', a more flexible and idiomatic construction than the plainer comparative clauses used at 6.5 and 7.0.这个结尾的关系从句用了一个否定比较结构 'no... ever quite manages',比6.5和7.0使用的更平实的比较从句更灵活、更地道。

Closes with the short, direct statement 'the order isn't that important', a plain way of ending the argument without much elaboration.以简短、直接的陈述 'the order isn't that important' 结尾,这是一种没有太多阐述、平实地结束论点的方式。

Personally, I don't think it's necessary to learn ancient history before modern history, but it can help. For example, my colleague Quan is really interested in twentieth-century events, like the Vietnam War and the Cold War. He started with these topics and only later went back to ancient dynasties. He told me that understanding recent history made older events feel more relevant, because he could see how patterns repeat. Honestly, it depends on the person. Some people find ancient history too abstract at first, but as long as you become curious about the past, the order isn't that important.

    • FCHonestly, it depends on the person. The 6.5 answer inserts this reflection as a short, standalone sentence. The 7.0 answer instead attaches a dash-marked elaboration directly to the same idea, and 7.5 embeds it mid-sentence with a colon, 'It really depends on the person, I think:', both showing tighter integration into the flow.6.5的答案把这段思考插入为一个简短、独立的句子。7.0的答案则用一个破折号标出的阐述直接附加在同一个想法上,而7.5用冒号把它嵌入句中,'It really depends on the person, I think:',两者都展现出更紧密地融入了行文之中。
    • LRHe started with these topics and only later went back to ancient dynasties. This is plain, functional phrasing. The 7.5 answer's 'only circled back to ancient dynasties and early civilisations years later, almost as an afterthought' adds a more vivid, evaluative closing image to the same fact.这是平实、功能性的措辞。7.5答案中的 'only circled back to ancient dynasties and early civilisations years later, almost as an afterthought' 给同样的事实增添了一个更生动、带有评价色彩的结尾意象。
    • GRASome people find ancient history too abstract at first, but as long as you become curious about the past, the order isn't that important. This sentence links a contrast with 'but' to a conditional 'as long as' clause, moderately complex. The 7.5 answer achieves a similar structure but with more elaborate phrasing throughout, including the closing 'strikes me as fairly beside the point', showing a further step in grammatical and lexical ambition.这句话用 'but' 把一个转折和一个条件从句 'as long as' 连接起来,复杂程度适中。7.5的答案实现了类似的结构,但整体措辞更精细,包括结尾的 'strikes me as fairly beside the point',展现出语法和词汇上更进一步的野心。

The dash-marked aside 'some might find ancient history too abstract at first, while others enjoy building a timeline from the ground up' develops the balance more than the plainer 6.5 version.用破折号标出的插入语 'some might find ancient history too abstract at first, while others enjoy building a timeline from the ground up',比更平实的6.5版本更充分地展开了这种平衡的表达。

Personally, I don't think it's essential for people to learn ancient history first before moving on to modern history, though it can certainly be helpful. For example, my colleague Quan is really into twentieth-century events, like the Vietnam War and the Cold War period, and he only circled back to ancient dynasties and early civilisations much later. He told me that understanding recent history actually made older events feel more relevant, because he could see how patterns tend to repeat over time. Honestly, it depends a lot on the person — some might find ancient history too abstract at first, while others enjoy building a timeline from the ground up. As long as you develop a genuine curiosity about the past, I'd say the order isn't that important.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCHonestly, it depends a lot on the person — some might find ancient history too abstract at firstThis dash-marked structure integrates the qualification directly into the sentence, smoother than the 6.5 answer's separate short sentence. The 7.5 answer achieves a similar effect using a colon instead of a dash, 'depends on the person, I think:', showing a comparable but slightly more formal cohesive device.这个用破折号标出的结构把限定语直接融入了句子里,比6.5答案中独立的短句更流畅。7.5的答案用冒号而不是破折号实现了类似的效果,'depends on the person, I think:',展现出相当但略微更正式的衔接手段。
    • LRcircled back to ancient dynasties and early civilisations much laterThis is a clear, natural phrase. The 7.5 answer extends it with the evaluative tag 'almost as an afterthought', adding a layer of interpretation that the 7.0 version doesn't include.这是一个清晰、自然的短语。7.5的答案用带评价色彩的附加语 'almost as an afterthought' 延伸了它,增添了一层7.0版本没有包含的解读色彩。
    • GRAhe could see how patterns tend to repeat over timeThis is a straightforward relative clause with a modal verb, 'tend to'. The 7.5 answer restructures a similar idea into a longer sentence contrasting recent and ancient material directly, 'he could already see the patterns repeating before he ever encountered their ancient origins', showing more layered subordination.这是一个带情态动词 'tend to' 的直接关系从句。7.5的答案把类似的想法重新组织成一个更长的句子,直接对比近代和古代的材料,'he could already see the patterns repeating before he ever encountered their ancient origins',展现出更有层次的从属结构。
    7.5 分

The closing phrase, 'strikes me as fairly beside the point', gives the conclusion a slightly detached, confident tone beyond the plainer endings of the lower bands.结尾短语 'strikes me as fairly beside the point',给结论带来了一种略显超然、自信的语气,超越了较低分数段更平实的结尾。

Personally, I don't think ancient history has to come first, though I'll admit it can smooth the way. My colleague Quan is a case in point: he's genuinely absorbed by twentieth-century events — the Vietnam War, the Cold War — and only circled back to ancient dynasties and early civilisations years later, almost as an afterthought. According to him, starting with recent history actually made the older material feel more relevant, since he could already see the patterns repeating before he ever encountered their ancient origins. It really depends on the person, I think: some find ancient history too abstract to grip them at first, while others prefer building a timeline methodically from the ground up. As long as a genuine curiosity about the past takes hold somewhere, the order it arrives in strikes me as fairly beside the point.

    • FCMy colleague Quan is a case in point:This colon-based transition integrates the example directly into the argument, more economical than the 7.0 answer's 'For example, my colleague Quan is really into' and considerably more integrated than the 6.5 answer's separate 'For example,' sentence.这个以冒号为基础的过渡把例子直接融入了论点中,比7.0答案里的 'For example, my colleague Quan is really into' 更精简,也比6.5答案里独立的 'For example,' 句子融合得多得多。
    • LRalmost as an afterthoughtThis evaluative tag adds a layer of interpretation to a simple fact, more precise and slightly wry compared with the plain factual statements at 6.5 and 7.0.这个带评价色彩的附加语,给一个简单的事实增添了一层解读色彩,比6.5和7.0中平实的事实陈述更精确、也略带一丝调侃。
    • GRAhe could already see the patterns repeating before he ever encountered their ancient originsThis sentence uses a temporal clause with 'before... ever', a more flexible and idiomatic construction than the simpler 'tend to repeat over time' used at 7.0 or the plain claim at 6.5.这句话用了一个带 'before... ever' 的时间从句,比7.0中更简单的 'tend to repeat over time' 或6.5中平实的论断更灵活、更地道。

Besides big events, I think the everyday life of ordinary people is just as important when learning history. For example, last month I visited a small exhibition at the Da Nang Museum with my friend Phuong, who likes history a lot. There was a section about traditional fishing tools and recipes from the coastal villages. Phuong was interested in how people used to preserve fish with just salt and sunlight, and it made the past feel more real to both of us. I think focusing on details like daily routines or food helps you connect with the people behind the dates. It isn't just about kings or wars.

    • FCPhuong was interested in how people used to preserve fish with just salt and sunlight, and it made the past feel more real to both of us.The 6.5 answer states Phuong's reaction and its effect in one coordinated sentence joined by 'and'. The 7.0 answer adds the intensifier 'genuinely fascinated' and a dash before the result, and 7.5 restructures the sentence further with 'completely absorbed' and 'something about that small, practical detail', both extending the description further.6.5的答案用一个由 'and' 连接的并列句陈述了芳的反应及其效果。7.0的答案加入了强调词 'genuinely fascinated',并在结果前加了一个破折号,而7.5用 'completely absorbed' 和 'something about that small, practical detail' 进一步重新组织了这句话,两者都把这个描述进一步延伸了。
    • LRinterested inThis is a mild, general verb phrase. The 7.0 answer's 'genuinely fascinated by' and the 7.5 answer's 'completely absorbed by' are both stronger, more specific alternatives that convey greater intensity.这是一个温和、笼统的动词短语。7.0答案中的 'genuinely fascinated by' 和7.5答案中的 'completely absorbed by' 都是更强烈、更具体的替代表达,传达出更大的强度。
    • GRAIt isn't just about kings or wars. This is a short, direct closing sentence using a simple negative statement. The 7.5 answer expresses a similar final point inside a longer sentence with a relative clause, 'rather than the kings and wars that tend to dominate every textbook', showing considerably more grammatical development.这是一个简短、直接的结尾句,用了一个简单的否定陈述。7.5的答案用一个带关系从句的更长句子表达了类似的最后观点,'rather than the kings and wars that tend to dominate every textbook',展现出相当多的语法发展。
    7.0 分

The closing comparison, 'rather than just the kings or wars that usually dominate the textbooks', gives the ending more critical bite than the flatter final sentence at 6.5.结尾的比较 'rather than just the kings or wars that usually dominate the textbooks',比6.5更平淡的结尾句多了一分批判性的锋芒。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCwho's a bit of a history buffThis idiomatic aside describing Phuong is more natural and colourful than leaving the description out entirely, as the 6.5 answer does with the plainer 'who likes history a lot'. The 7.5 answer keeps the identical phrase, showing the two upper bands converge closely here.这个用来描述芳的地道插入语,比6.5答案里更平实的 'who likes history a lot' 更自然、更有色彩。7.5的答案保留了完全相同的短语,说明这两个较高的分数段在这里非常接近。
    • LRgenuinely fascinated byThis is a stronger, more specific phrase than the mild 'was interested in' at 6.5. The 7.5 answer's 'completely absorbed by' pushes the intensity even further, showing a small but real difference in degree between the two upper bands.这是一个比6.5中温和的 'was interested in' 更强烈、更具体的短语。7.5答案中的 'completely absorbed by' 把强度进一步推高,展现出这两个较高分数段之间一个小但真实的程度差异。
    • GRAand Phuong was genuinely fascinated by how people used to preserve fish with just salt and sunlight — it actually made the past feel much more real to both of usThis sentence links a claim to a dash-marked result clause, more developed than the plain coordinated sentence at 6.5. The 7.5 answer achieves a similar structure but opens with a separate sentence about stumbling on the exhibit first, showing a slightly different but comparable distribution of information across sentences.这句话把一个论断和一个用破折号标出的结果从句连接起来,比6.5中平实的并列句更完整。7.5的答案实现了类似的结构,但先用一个独立的句子讲述偶然发现展览的过程,展现出信息在句子间略有不同但相当的分布方式。

The closing relative clause, 'the kings and wars that tend to dominate every textbook', gives the ending a pointed, slightly critical final image.结尾的关系从句 'the kings and wars that tend to dominate every textbook',给结尾带来了一个犀利、略带批判色彩的最终意象。

Beyond the major events, I'd argue the everyday texture of ordinary people's lives matters just as much when learning history, if not more. Last month I visited a small local exhibition at the Da Nang Museum with my friend Phuong, who's a bit of a history buff, and stumbled on a corner devoted to traditional fishing tools and recipes from the villages along the coast. Phuong was completely absorbed by how people once preserved fish with nothing but salt and sunlight, and something about that small, practical detail made the past feel suddenly real to both of us. Honestly, it's details like daily routines or food that let you connect with the actual people behind the dates, rather than the kings and wars that tend to dominate every textbook.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCstumbled on a corner devoted to traditional fishing tools and recipesThis verb 'stumbled on' frames the discovery as unplanned and genuine, a more vivid narrative move than the plain 'there was a corner dedicated to' used at both 6.5 and 7.0.动词 'stumbled on' 把这个发现框定为意外的、真实的,比6.5和7.0都使用的平实 'there was a corner dedicated to' 更具叙事上的生动感。
    • LRcompletely absorbed byThis is the most intense of the three versions of this phrase, stronger than 'genuinely fascinated by' at 7.0 and considerably stronger than the plain 'interested in' at 6.5, exemplifying the graded lexical precision expected across the bands.这是这个短语三个版本中强度最高的一个,比7.0中的 'genuinely fascinated by' 更强烈,也比6.5中平实的 'interested in' 强烈得多,体现了各分数段所期望的、有层级递进的词汇精确度。
    • GRAsomething about that small, practical detail made the past feel suddenly real to both of usThis sentence uses the vague but evocative subject 'something about that small, practical detail', a more abstract and stylistically confident construction than the direct cause-effect sentences used at 6.5 and 7.0.这句话用了一个模糊但富有唤起力的主语 'something about that small, practical detail',比6.5和7.0中直接的因果句更抽象、风格上也更自信。
