The answer states its feeling directly ('I feel really proud of my uncle') and supports it with one simple anecdote about customers asking where the furniture came from, a clear but modest structure typical of Band 6.5.
A person I know who is good at making things is my uncle, who runs a small family restaurant in Hue.
Besides cooking, he is also good at making wooden furniture. He makes tables, chairs, and shelves for the restaurant himself, instead of buying them from a shop. He also makes small wooden boxes and spoons in his free time, just as a hobby.
I know he is good at this because I have watched him work in the small room behind the restaurant kitchen, where he keeps his tools. He measures everything carefully, and he never seems to rush, even when a table takes him several weekends to finish. Customers at the restaurant often ask him where he bought the furniture, and he just laughs and says he made it himself. My parents also always say his tables will probably outlast the whole restaurant.
I feel really proud of my uncle when I think about this side of him. Most people only see him as the man cooking bun bo Hue in the kitchen, but he clearly has a lot of patience and skill with his hands too. Whenever I visit Hue and eat at his restaurant, I always look at the tables and chairs a little differently now, knowing he built them himself. It makes the whole place feel more personal.

- FC“Customers at the restaurant often ask him where he bought the furniture, and he just laughs and says he made it himself.” — Rather than stating abstractly that the uncle is skilled ("he is very good with wood"), the speaker illustrates the point with a small, concrete anecdote about customers mistaking the furniture for shop-bought items — a specific, recurring scene rather than a general claim. This anecdote-over-abstraction strategy is a clear and effective way to develop an answer, matching the "one short concrete example" approach valued at this band, even though the sentence itself is built from simple coordinated clauses joined by "and." The verb choices ("ask," "laughs," "says") are all everyday and unremarkable, keeping the storytelling accessible rather than stylised.
- LR“My parents also always say his tables will probably outlast the whole restaurant.” — The vocabulary stays plain and everyday ('outlast'), used in a simple, direct way rather than a more figurative alternative, characteristic of Band 6.5.
- GRA“I feel really proud of my uncle when I think about this side of him.” — The sentence uses a simple main clause with one when-clause rather than more varied subordination, showing the mostly simple grammar typical of Band 6.5.
