6.5 分

The answer gives one plain, direct reason for the person's hobby ('it helps him relax after staring at a computer screen') and closes with a simple summary statement, a clear but modest structure typical of Band 6.5.回答给出一个简单直接的理由来解释这个人的爱好('这能帮他在盯着电脑屏幕之后放松下来'),并以一句简单的总结性陈述收尾,结构清晰但比较朴素,是Band 6.5的典型特征。

A person in my life who really likes taking photos is my colleague Khanh, who works at the same studio as me in Da Nang.

He takes photos almost everywhere, but especially around the city in the early evening, when the light is soft. He often goes up to the rooftop of our office building after work, because you can see the whole river and Dragon Bridge from up there. On weekends, he sometimes rides out to Son Tra Peninsula just to take photos of the sea and the mountains.

I think he likes taking photos because it helps him relax after staring at a computer screen all day for design work, which is the same job as mine. He also says it makes him notice small details in the city that he would normally walk past, like reflections in puddles or the shadow of a building. He posts a lot of his photos on Instagram, and honestly, they look much better than mine.

I feel quite happy having him around, because he is always suggesting new places to go and see. Sometimes he invites me along, and even though I am not very interested in photography myself, I enjoy the walk and the chance to see the city from a different angle. His photos have also made me appreciate Da Nang more than before.

  • FCI think he likes taking photos because it helps him relax after staring at a computer screen all day for design work, which is the same job as mine. The reason for Khanh's hobby is explained with a single because-clause, directly and clearly, without layering in a second cause or a reflective comment on top of it — a plain, functional way of developing the answer with one clear reason. That single-clause development is exactly what the 6.5 tier expects: "one clear reason or example is enough," rather than the additional linked reasons or evaluative asides a 7.0 or 7.5 answer would build in at the same point. The added detail "which is the same job as mine" is a simple relative clause, but it's used descriptively rather than to develop the idea further.
  • LRHis photos have also made me appreciate Da Nang more than before. The vocabulary here stays entirely plain and high-frequency — "appreciate," "more than before" — where a higher band might reach for something more specific like "seeing the city through his eyes" or "given me a new appreciation for." This deliberate plainness, stating the effect directly without any figurative or unusual phrasing, is exactly the 6.5 lexical profile: "use everyday, high-frequency words... plain and clear is the target." The sentence is accurate and does close the answer with a genuine personal effect, but it doesn't reach for the more flexible collocations a 7.0 answer would layer in.这里的词汇完全停留在简单、高频的层面——“appreciate”、“more than before”——而更高分段的答案可能会选用更具体的表达,比如“seeing the city through his eyes”或“given me a new appreciation for”。这种刻意的朴素——直接陈述效果而不使用任何比喻或不寻常的措辞——正是 6.5 档次的词汇特征:“use everyday, high-frequency words... plain and clear is the target”(使用日常高频词……朴素清晰即是目标)。这句话准确无误,也确实用一个真实的个人影响收尾,但没有触及 Band 7.0 答案会叠加进来的更灵活的搭配。
  • GRAI feel quite happy having him around, because he is always suggesting new places to go and see.The sentence uses a gerund phrase with one because-clause rather than more varied subordination, showing the mostly simple-to-basic-complex grammar typical of Band 6.5.这句话用一个动名词短语搭配一个because从句,而不是使用更多样的从句结构,体现出Band 6.5从简单句到基础复合句为主的语法特征。
7.0 分

The answer develops its point with one vivid concrete example — around two hundred photos taken before lunch on a family trip — and closes with a reflective point about small moments being worth keeping, giving fuller development than the 6.5 answer while staying more direct than the 7.5 version.回答用一个生动具体的例子来展开论点——家庭旅行中午饭前就拍了大约两百张照片——并以关于小瞬间值得被留住的一句反思收尾,展现出比Band 6.5答案更充分的展开,但比Band 7.5版本更直白一些。

My younger sister Vy is completely obsessed with photography — she's at university in Ho Chi Minh City these days, but even back when she lived with us in Hue, she never went anywhere without a camera, or at least her phone out, photographing literally anything — food, the street outside, even a shadow falling across a wall.

She'll photograph almost anywhere, but she really switches into gear during family trips or a visit to somewhere new. Last Tet, when the whole family went to Hội An for the day, she'd already taken something like two hundred photos before we even sat down for lunch. She has this eye for spotting details the rest of us walk straight past — the pattern in a roof tile, an odd shape in the clouds. Even at home, she'll set up a little scene around whatever dessert our grandmother's just made. She loves posting the results on Instagram and Zalo, and I'm sure part of the motivation is the reaction she gets, but I also think she just genuinely likes holding onto moments — she's told me it's less about how something looked and more about how it felt.

I do admire her for it, even though I'll never share her enthusiasm for cameras myself. She can be a bit exhausting when she insists everyone pose before anyone's allowed to touch their food, but I get that it's just her way of marking the moment as worth remembering. Because of her, our family actually has a real visual record of things I'd probably have completely forgotten by now, and it's made me appreciate how much those small, ordinary moments are worth holding onto.

  • FCshe'd already taken something like two hundred photos before we even sat down for lunchThe specific concrete example develops the general claim about her habit rather than just stating it, showing the fuller development expected at Band 7.0.这个具体的例子展开了关于她这一习惯的概括性说法,而不只是简单陈述,体现出Band 7.0所期待的更充分的展开方式。
  • LRshe just genuinely likes holding onto moments"Holding onto moments" is a natural, mildly figurative collocation for the abstract idea of preserving memories, slightly more flexible than a plain word like "remembering" but well short of an unusual or idiomatic expression. That's exactly the 7.0 lexical profile — common words used with a touch more imagination than the most basic vocabulary — and it contrasts with the more literal explanation that follows ("less about how something looked and more about how it felt"). A 6.5 answer at this point would likely just say she "likes taking pictures to remember things."“Holding onto moments”(留住瞬间)是一个自然、略带比喻色彩的搭配,用来表达“保存记忆”这个抽象概念,比“remembering”这样的平实词汇多了一点想象力,但又远未达到不寻常或习语化的程度。这正是 7.0 档次的词汇特征——用常见词汇表达出比最基础词汇多一点的想象力——它与紧接其后更直白的解释(“less about how something looked and more about how it felt”)形成对比。Band 6.5 的答案在这个位置很可能只会说她“likes taking pictures to remember things”。
  • GRABecause of her, our family actually has a real visual record of things I'd probably have completely forgotten by nowThe sentence opens with a fronted prepositional phrase ("Because of her") before the main clause, a natural but noticeably varied way to open compared to the simpler subject-first pattern ("Our family has a visual record because of her") a 6.5 answer would use. This kind of comfortable structural variation — moving a cause to the front for emphasis — matches the 7.0 tier's grammar target of a "comfortable mix of simple and complex sentences, generally accurate." The embedded clause "I'd probably have completely forgotten" also adds a second layer of complexity while staying fully accurate.这句话以一个前置的介词短语(“Because of her”)开头,然后才是主句,这种开头方式虽自然,但明显比 Band 6.5 答案会用的、主语在前的更简单结构(“Our family has a visual record because of her”)要有变化得多。这种把原因提到句首以示强调的、驾驭自如的结构变化,正对应 7.0 档次“comfortable mix of simple and complex sentences, generally accurate”(简单句与复杂句自如混用、总体准确)的语法目标。嵌入的从句“I’d probably have completely forgotten”也在保持完全准确的同时增添了第二层复杂度。
7.5 分

The answer closes with a reflective generalisation about the value of 'those little slices of everyday life' rather than a plain summary of the sister's hobby, the evaluative development typical of Band 7.5.回答以关于'日常生活里那些细小片段'的价值的一句反思性概括收尾,而不是对妹妹爱好的简单总结,这是Band 7.5典型的评价性展开。

One person in my life who is absolutely obsessed with taking photos is my younger sister, Vy. She's studying at university in Ho Chi Minh City now, but honestly, even when she was living with us in Hue, I remember her always carrying some sort of camera or at least using her phone to take pictures of everything-food, street views, even random details like shadows on the walls.

Vy takes photos pretty much everywhere she goes, but I'd say she gets especially active during family trips or when we visit new cafés. For example, last Tet holiday when we all went to Hoi An for a day, she must've taken over two hundred photos before lunchtime. She has a knack for spotting little things most people would miss, like a pattern in the tiles or an unusual cloud shape. Even at home, she sometimes sets up these little photoshoots for whatever dessert our grandmother makes. She's always excited to share her pictures on Instagram or Zalo, and I think that's part of what motivates her. But it's also because she genuinely enjoys capturing moments-she says it helps her remember how things felt, not just how they looked.

I actually admire her for this, even though I'm not nearly as enthusiastic about photos myself. Her energy can be a bit much sometimes, especially when she insists on taking group pictures before anyone eats, but I get that it's her way of appreciating the moment. Plus, thanks to her, our family has a great visual record of all sorts of memories I probably would've forgotten. It's made me realize how valuable it can be to look back and see those little slices of everyday life.

  • LRShe has a knack for spotting little things most people would miss"Has a knack for" is a genuinely idiomatic collocation describing natural talent, chosen instead of a more literal phrase like "is good at noticing" — precisely the "less literal way of describing a skill" that marks 7.5 Lexical Resource. A 7.0 answer would be more likely to use a safer, more common phrase such as "she's really good at noticing small details." The idiom also fits naturally into spoken register here, following straight after a concrete example (the two hundred photos before lunch), so it reads as genuine praise rather than a memorised phrase.“Has a knack for”是一个真正带有习语色彩的搭配,用来描述天赋,选用它而不是更偏字面的“is good at noticing”——这恰恰是标志着 7.5 档次 Lexical Resource 的那种“描述技能时不那么直白的方式”。Band 7.0 的答案更可能使用更保险、更常见的说法,比如“she's really good at noticing small details”。这个习语在这里也很自然地融入了口语语域,紧接在一个具体例子(午饭前的两百张照片)之后出现,因此读起来像是真心的赞美,而不是背下来的套话。
  • FCIt's made me realize how valuable it can be to look back and see those little slices of everyday life. The answer closes on a generalised reflection about the value of everyday memories rather than a plain fact about Vy's hobby, converting the whole anecdote into a small personal insight. This evaluative closing move — stepping back from the specific story to a broader takeaway — is exactly the reflective development the 7.5 tier rewards; a 7.0 answer would more likely end with a simpler statement such as "I think it's a good hobby for her to have." "Little slices of everyday life" is also a mildly figurative phrase for photographs, adding a touch of lexical sophistication to the closing thought.这篇答案的结尾是对日常记忆价值的一种概括性反思,而不是关于 Vy 爱好的一个平淡事实,把整段轶事转化成了一点小小的个人体悟。这种评价性的收尾动作——从具体的故事后退一步,得出一个更宽广的结论——正是 7.5 档次所奖励的反思性展开;Band 7.0 的答案更可能以更简单的一句话收尾,比如“I think it's a good hobby for her to have”。“Little slices of everyday life”(日常生活的一个个小片段)也是对照片一种略带比喻色彩的说法,为收尾的想法增添了一丝词汇上的巧思。
  • GRAshe says it helps her remember how things felt, not just how they lookedThe parallel contrast between "felt" and "looked," both governed by the same reported clause structure, shows controlled, flexible grammar — building a balanced opposition inside a single reported-speech sentence rather than two separate statements. This kind of parallel construction under reported speech is part of the "varied complex structures... mostly error-free" the 7.5 tier expects; a 7.0 answer would more likely simplify this to "she says she likes remembering how things felt." The contrast itself also deepens the characterisation of Vy's motivation, distinguishing emotional memory from mere documentation.“felt”和“looked”之间的并列对比,同受一个间接引语从句结构的支配,展现出有控制、灵活的语法——在同一个转述句里构建出一种平衡的对立,而不是两个各自独立的陈述。这种在间接引语之下的并列结构,是 7.5 档次所期待的“varied complex structures... mostly error-free”(多样且基本无误的复杂结构)的一部分;Band 7.0 的答案更可能把它简化成“she says she likes remembering how things felt”。这种对比本身也加深了对 Vy 动机的刻画,把情感记忆和单纯的记录区分开来。

    6.5 分

The 6.5 answer lists categories one after another using the plain connector 'also' and simple present-tense verbs like 'takes' and 'get photographed', ending in a short, general summary sentence.6.5的答案用平实的连接词 'also' 和简单的现在时动词(像 'takes' 和 'get photographed')一个接一个地列出各个类别,以一句简短、笼统的总结句结尾。

Food is probably the most common thing here. Almost everyone I know takes a photo of their meal before eating it, whether it's a fancy dinner or just bánh xèo from a street stall. People also take photos of their pets, their children, and small daily moments, like a nice sunset or a coffee cup. Travel and famous places get photographed a lot too. Work photos are common too - I often photograph whiteboard sketches in meetings so I don't lose an idea before drawing it in Figma. So it's really a mix of small and big moments.

    • GRAAlmost everyone I know takes a photo of their meal before eating it, whether it's a fancy dinner or just bánh xèo from a street stall.A single sentence with one 'whether...or' clause, a simple way of giving two examples. A band 7.5 answer would likely compress the examples into a shorter appositive phrase instead of a full 'whether' clause.一个包含 'whether...or' 从句的单句,是给出两个例子的简单方式。7.5分数段的答案很可能会把这些例子压缩成一个更短的同位语短语,而不是一个完整的 'whether' 从句。
    • LRsmall daily momentsA general, plain description. A higher band answer would likely choose a more specific or vivid phrase to describe the same idea, rather than this all-purpose label.一个笼统、平实的描述。更高分数段的答案很可能会选择一个更具体或更生动的短语来描述同样的想法,而不是这个万能标签。
    • FCSo it's really a mix of small and big moments.A short, generic closing sentence that restates the point without adding anything new. A band 7 answer would more likely close with a slightly more reflective remark instead of a flat summary.一句简短、笼统的结尾句,重述了论点却没有增添任何新内容。第7分数段的答案更可能会用一句稍微更具反思性的话来收尾,而不是平铺直叙的总结。
    7.0 分

The 7.0 answer opens with the natural marker 'honestly' and links the balcony sunset example with the qualifying phrase 'small but personal', showing a bit more reflection than the plain listing of band 6.5.7.0的答案以自然的标记词 'honestly' 开头,并用限定短语 'small but personal' 把阳台日落的例子连接起来,比6.5平实的列表展现出更多一点反思。

Food is probably the most common one here, honestly - almost everyone I know photographs their meal before eating it, whether it's a fancy dinner or just bánh xèo from a street stall. People also photograph their pets, their children, and everyday moments that feel small but personal, like a nice sunset from their balcony or a coffee cup with good light. Travel and landmarks obviously get photographed a lot too. Work-related photos are common as well, at least in my field - I often snap quick photos of whiteboard sketches during brainstorms so I don't lose an idea before it's properly drawn out in Figma. So it ranges from the mundane to the memorable, really.

    • FCFood is probably the most common one here, honestlyThe discourse marker 'honestly' is added directly after the claim rather than left out, giving a more conversational, considered tone than the bare statement a band 6.5 answer would use.话语标记词 'honestly' 被直接加在论断之后,而不是省略,比6.5的答案会用的直白陈述更具对话感、更经过斟酌。
    • LReveryday moments that feel small but personalA more precise, nuanced phrase than the plain 'small daily moments' used at band 6.5, though it's not yet the more distinctive vocabulary a 7.5 answer would reach for.一个比6.5使用的平实 'small daily moments' 更精确、更细腻的短语,不过还没有达到7.5答案会选用的那种更有特色的词汇。
    • GRAat least in my field - I often snap quick photos of whiteboard sketches during brainstorms so I don't lose an idea before it's properly drawn out in FigmaAn inserted qualifying phrase ('at least in my field') plus a 'so' clause explaining purpose, combined in one longer sentence rather than the shorter, separate sentences a band 6.5 answer would use for the same content.一个插入的限定短语('at least in my field')加上一个解释目的的 'so' 从句,合并进一个更长的句子里,而不是像6.5答案那样用更短、独立的句子表达同样的内容。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer opens with the compact, idiomatic 'Food wins easily' and closes on the parallel phrase 'from the utterly mundane to the genuinely memorable', showing more vivid, deliberate word choice than the plainer band 7.0 ending.7.5的答案以紧凑、地道的 'Food wins easily' 开头,并以并列短语 'from the utterly mundane to the genuinely memorable' 收尾,比7.0更平实的结尾展现出更生动、更经过斟酌的用词。

Food wins easily, I'd say - almost everyone I know photographs their meal before eating it, be it a fancy dinner or just bánh xèo from a street stall. Pets, children and small personal moments get their share too, a balcony sunset or a coffee cup catching good light, the kind of thing that means nothing to anyone else. Travel and landmarks are an obvious category. Work throws up its own version of this habit - I regularly snap whiteboard sketches mid-brainstorm so an idea survives long enough to be properly drawn out in Figma. So it spans everything from the utterly mundane to the genuinely memorable.

    • LRFood wins easilyA vivid, idiomatic opener replacing the plainer 'Food is probably the most common one' phrasing at band 7.0, an example of the less-common, punchier word choice expected at 7.5.一个生动、地道的开头,取代了7.0中更平实的 'Food is probably the most common one' 措辞,这是7.5所期望的那种更少见、更有力的用词的例子。
    • GRAthe kind of thing that means nothing to anyone elseA relative clause tacked onto the end of the sentence as a compact aside, rather than a separate explanatory sentence, a more economical construction than the equivalent idea at lower bands.一个附加在句末的关系从句,作为一个紧凑的旁白,而不是一个独立的解释句,比较低分数段对应的想法更经济。
    • FCit spans everything from the utterly mundane to the genuinely memorableA closing phrase using a parallel 'from X to Y' structure for a more polished finish than the plainer 'it ranges from the mundane to the memorable' wording at band 7.0.一个用并列 'from X to Y' 结构的结尾短语,比7.0中更平实的 'it ranges from the mundane to the memorable' 措辞收尾更精致。

    6.5 分

The 6.5 answer gives a direct main reason ('staying connected') plus two extra points using the plain connector 'also' twice, ending with a short restatement of the opening idea.6.5的答案给出了一个直接的主要原因('staying connected'),再加上用平实的连接词 'also' 两次引出的两个额外要点,以对开头想法的简短重述结尾。

I think it's mostly about staying connected. Sharing small moments lets friends and family feel involved in your life even when you're far away, which matters to me because my parents and grandmother are still in Hue while I live in Da Nang. It's also a way to remember things, since posting a photo makes an ordinary moment feel worth noticing. For some people, there's also a wish for likes or comments, which isn't always healthy. But for most people, I think it's just a simple way to stay close to each other from far away.

    • GRAwhich matters to me because my parents and grandmother are still in Hue while I live in Da NangA single 'because' clause plus a 'while' clause added to the main sentence, a fairly basic way of giving personal context. A band 7 answer would more likely link the two locations with a smoother contrastive phrase.一个 'because' 从句加上附加在主句上的一个 'while' 从句,是给出个人背景相当基础的方式。第7分数段的答案更可能会用一个更顺畅的对比短语来连接这两个地点。
    • LRisn't always healthyA plain, general phrase. A higher band answer would likely name the specific problem more precisely, such as calling it 'unhealthy' validation-seeking, rather than this vague description.一个平实、笼统的短语。更高分数段的答案很可能会更精确地点明具体问题,比如称之为不健康的寻求认可,而不是这种含糊的描述。
    • FCBut for most people, I think it's just a simple way to stay close to each other from far away.A closing sentence that repeats the opening idea about connection almost word for word, a repetitive pattern typical of band 6.5. A higher band would likely vary the phrasing rather than circling back to the same words.一句几乎逐字重复开头联系这一想法的结尾句,这是6.5典型的重复模式。更高分数段更可能会变化措辞,而不是绕回到同样的词语。
    7.0 分

The 7.0 answer adds the reflective phrase 'processing and remembering things' and a conditional qualifier ('if it goes too far'), giving more nuance than the flatter band 6.5 listing of reasons.7.0的答案加入了反思性短语 'processing and remembering things',以及一个条件限定语('if it goes too far'),比6.5更平淡的理由列表展现出更多细微差别。

I think it's partly about connection - sharing small moments lets friends and family feel involved in your life even when you're not physically together, which matters a lot to me since my parents and grandmother are still in Hue while I'm here in Da Nang. It's also a way of processing and remembering things; posting a photo almost turns an ordinary moment into something worth noticing. For some people, there's a social validation element too, waiting for likes or comments, which can become a bit unhealthy if it goes too far.

    • LRa low-effort way to stay presentA more precise, natural collocation than the plainer 'a simple way to stay close' phrasing used at band 6.5, showing deliberate, though not yet the most distinctive, word choice.一个比6.5使用的更平淡的 'a simple way to stay close' 措辞更精确、更自然的搭配,展现出经过斟酌、但还不是最有特色的用词。
    • GRAa social validation element too, waiting for likes or comments, which can become a bit unhealthy if it goes too farA layered structure adding a participle phrase ('waiting for...') and a conditional 'if' clause onto the main point, more grammatical range than the short separate sentences a band 6.5 answer used for the same idea.一个有层次的结构,在主要论点上加入了一个分词短语('waiting for...')和一个条件性的 'if' 从句,比6.5答案用来表达同样想法的简短独立句子有更广的语法范围。
    • FCOverall, though, I think for most people it's simpler than thatA reflective pivot that reframes the whole answer near the end, adding a layer of nuance typical of band 7.0. A band 6.5 answer would more likely just restate the opening point instead of reframing it.一个反思性的转折,在结尾附近重新框定了整个答案,增添了7.0典型的一层细微差别。6.5的答案更可能只是重述开头的论点,而不是重新框定它。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer uses the vivid verb 'promotes' to describe how posting elevates an ordinary moment, and the idiomatic 'tip into something unhealthy', showing more precise, image-based vocabulary than the plainer band 7.0 phrasing.7.5的答案用生动的动词 'promotes' 来描述发帖如何提升一个平凡的瞬间,以及地道的 'tip into something unhealthy',比7.0更平实的措辞展现出更精确、更具画面感的词汇。

Connection is probably the biggest driver - sharing small moments lets friends and family feel woven into your life even when you're not physically together, which matters enormously to me since my parents and grandmother are still in Hue while I'm here in Da Nang. It's also a way of processing things; posting a photo almost promotes an ordinary moment into something worth noticing. For some, there's a validation element too, refreshing for likes or comments, which can tip into something unhealthy if left unchecked. Mostly, though, I suspect it's simpler than that for most people - just a low-effort way of staying present in each other's lives across the distance.

    为什么是这个分数

    • LRposting a photo almost promotes an ordinary momentA vivid, slightly unusual verb choice ('promotes') used metaphorically, more distinctive than the plainer 'turns an ordinary moment into something worth noticing' phrasing at band 7.0.一个生动、略微不寻常的动词选择('promotes'),以比喻的方式使用,比7.0中更平实的 'turns an ordinary moment into something worth noticing' 措辞更有特色。
    • GRArefreshing for likes or comments, which can tip into something unhealthy if left uncheckedA participial phrase ('refreshing for...') combined with a passive conditional ('if left unchecked'), a more compact and flexible construction than the fuller 'waiting for...which can become' clause used at band 7.0.一个分词短语('refreshing for...')结合了一个被动条件句('if left unchecked'),比7.0使用的更完整的 'waiting for...which can become' 从句更紧凑、更灵活。
    • FCI suspect it's simpler than that for most peopleThe verb 'suspect' adds a subtle, considered hedge to the closing reflection, a more precise evaluative touch than the plainer 'I think' used to close the equivalent point at band 7.0.动词 'suspect' 给结尾的反思增添了一种微妙、经过斟酌的缓和语,比7.0用来结束对应论点的更平实的 'I think' 是一种更精确的评价性点缀。

    6.5 分

The 6.5 answer states a direct 'yes, definitely' opinion, gives one clear example, and closes by restating the main idea using the plain connector 'but'.6.5的答案陈述了一个直接的是的,当然这一观点,给出了一个清晰的例子,并用平实的连接词 'but' 重述主要想法作为收尾。

Yes, definitely, although what counts as 'interesting' is different for everyone. I have a coworker, Khánh, who takes a photo of almost every meal he eats, even ordinary lunches from the same three restaurants. I used to think it was strange, until I realised it's just a personal habit for him, not something to impress people. Some boring-looking photos actually mean something to the person who took them - a plain photo of an empty apartment might mark moving day. So many photos really are boring, but 'uninteresting' often depends on information the viewer lacks.

    • FCYes, definitely, although what counts as 'interesting' is different for everyone.A short, direct opening with one 'although' qualifier stated plainly. A band 7 answer would likely present the same qualification with a more natural spoken phrase such as 'though it's pretty subjective'.一个简短、直接的开头,平实地陈述了一个 'although' 限定语。第7分数段的答案很可能会用一个更自然的口语短语来呈现同样的限定,比如 'though it's pretty subjective'。
    • GRAI used to think it was strange, until I realised it's just a personal habit for him, not something to impress people.A main clause followed by an 'until' clause, a fairly simple way to show a change of opinion. A 7.5 answer would likely compress this shift into a single tighter clause instead of two full sentences joined by 'until'.一个主句后接一个 'until' 从句,是展现观点转变相当简单的方式。7.5的答案很可能会把这个转变压缩成一个更紧凑的分句,而不是用 'until' 连接的两个完整句子。
    • LRnot something to impress peopleA plain, functional phrase. A higher band answer would likely use a more specific word, such as describing it as documentation rather than an attempt 'to impress people'.一个平实、功能性的短语。更高分数段的答案很可能会用一个更具体的词,比如把它描述为记录,而不是给人留下印象的尝试。
    7.0 分

The 7.0 answer replaces the plain 'strange' with the more precise 'a bit excessive', and links the coworker example to the wider point with the phrase 'personal habit of documentation', showing more elaborated reasoning than band 6.5.7.0的答案用更精确的 'a bit excessive' 取代了平实的 'strange',并用短语 'personal habit of documentation' 把同事的例子和更宏观的论点连接起来,比6.5展现出更详尽的推理。

Definitely, yes, though what counts as 'interesting' is pretty subjective. I have a coworker, Khánh, who photographs almost every meal he eats, even fairly ordinary lunches from the same three restaurants near our office, and I used to find it a bit excessive until I realised it's really just a personal habit of documentation for him, not something meant to impress anyone. Some photos that look boring to an outsider can carry real meaning for the person taking them - a plain photo of an empty apartment might mark the day someone moved in, for instance. So while plenty of photos genuinely are mundane, 'uninteresting' often depends on context the viewer doesn't have.

    • LRa personal habit of documentationA more precise, specific collocation than the plainer 'personal habit' phrasing at band 6.5, though it stops short of the more vivid vocabulary a 7.5 answer would choose for the same idea.一个比6.5更平实的 'personal habit' 措辞更精确、更具体的搭配,不过没有达到7.5答案会为同样想法选用的更生动的词汇。
    • GRAI used to find it a bit excessive until I realised it's really just a personal habit of documentation for himA main clause and an 'until' clause combined smoothly within one flowing sentence, rather than the two separate short sentences a band 6.5 answer used to express the same change of view.一个主句和一个 'until' 从句在一个流畅的句子里顺畅地结合在一起,而不是像6.5答案那样用两个独立的简短句子来表达同样的观点转变。
    • FCthough what counts as 'interesting' is pretty subjectiveA natural spoken qualifier attached directly to the opening opinion, giving a more conversational flow than the flatter 'although what counts as interesting is different for everyone' phrasing at band 6.5.一个自然的口语化限定语,直接附加在开头的观点上,比6.5更平淡的 'although what counts as interesting is different for everyone' 措辞更具对话流畅感。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer uses the compact idiom 'his own quiet form of documentation' and closes with the compressed 'the viewer is missing the context', showing tighter, more idiomatic phrasing than the fuller sentences of band 7.0.7.5的答案用了紧凑的习语 'his own quiet form of documentation',并以压缩过的 'the viewer is missing the context' 收尾,比7.0更完整的句子展现出更紧凑、更地道的措辞。

Definitely, yes, though what counts as 'interesting' is entirely a matter of perspective. A coworker of mine, Khánh, photographs almost every meal he eats, even fairly ordinary lunches from the same three restaurants near our office, something I found faintly excessive until I realised it's simply his own quiet form of documentation, not an attempt to impress anyone. Plenty of photos that read as dull to an outsider carry real weight for whoever took them - a plain shot of an empty apartment might mark the exact day someone moved in. So while plenty of photos are genuinely mundane by any standard, 'uninteresting' usually just means the viewer is missing the context.

    为什么是这个分数

    • GRAsomething I found faintly excessive until I realised it's simply his own quiet form of documentationA noun phrase, 'something I found faintly excessive', appended directly to describe the coworker's habit rather than a new finite clause, a more compact way of embedding the reaction than the separate 'I used to find it...' sentence used at band 7.0.一个名词短语 'something I found faintly excessive',直接附加上去,用来描述同事的习惯,而不是用一个新的限定从句,比7.0中使用的独立句子 'I used to find it...' 更紧凑地嵌入了这种反应。
    • LRhis own quiet form of documentationA more distinctive, image-based phrase than the plainer 'personal habit of documentation' used at band 7.0, showing the kind of precise vocabulary expected at band 7.5.一个比7.0使用的更平实的 'personal habit of documentation' 更有特色、更具画面感的短语,展现出7.5所期望的那种精确词汇。
    • FC'uninteresting' usually just means the viewer is missing the contextA compact, confident closing definition that reframes the whole discussion in one tight clause, rather than the fuller, more hedged closing sentence used at band 7.0.一个紧凑、自信的结尾定义,用一个紧凑的分句重新框定了整个讨论,而不是像7.0那样用一句更完整、更多缓和语的结尾句。

Mostly to remember the experience, I think, because a trip doesn't last long, and photos let people look back on it later, or prove to themselves it really happened. There's also a social side, since sharing travel photos lets people show friends and family what they saw. For places like Marble Mountains or Ba Na Hills near where I live, there's also a kind of checklist feeling - visitors want proof they went, not just a general good feeling about the trip. Some of it is just habit too, since phones made taking photos very easy.

    为什么是这个分数

    • GRAbecause a trip doesn't last long, and photos let people look back on it later, or prove to themselves it really happenedA 'because' clause followed by two ideas joined only with 'and' and 'or', a fairly basic way of stacking reasons. A band 7 answer would likely separate this into two more clearly linked sentences instead.一个 'because' 从句后面接着两个只用 'and' 和 'or' 连接的想法,是相当基础的堆叠理由的方式。第7分数段的答案很可能会把它拆成两个连接更清晰的句子。
    • LRa kind of checklist feelingA general, slightly vague phrase. A higher band answer would likely name this more precisely as a 'checklist mentality', a more specific and natural collocation.一个笼统、略显含糊的短语。更高分数段的答案很可能会更精确地把它称为 'checklist mentality',这是一个更具体、更自然的搭配。
    • FCSome of it is just habit too, since phones made taking photos very easy.A short, plain closing sentence tacked on with 'too'. A 7.5 answer would more likely integrate this point into the flow of the answer rather than adding it as a final separate afterthought.一句简短、平实的结尾句,用 'too' 附加上去。7.5的答案更可能会把这一点整合进答案的行文里,而不是作为最后一个独立的附加想法加上去。

There's also a social element, since sharing travel photos lets people show friends and family what they've seen, almost like a modern version of postcards. For landmarks specifically, like Marble Mountains or Ba Na Hills near where I live, there's also a bit of a checklist mentality - visitors want proof they've been to the famous spot, not just a general sense of having enjoyed the area. Some of it is habit too; once phones made photography effortless, taking dozens of photos became the default rather than a deliberate choice.

The 6.5 answer gives a direct 'not everywhere' opinion with two reasons and one contrast, using the plain connector 'that said' once and simple vocabulary like 'a real problem' and 'a real risk of harm'.6.5的答案给出了一个直接的不是每个地方都行这一观点,配上两个理由和一个对比,用了一次平实的连接词 'that said',以及像 'a real problem' 和 'a real risk of harm' 这样简单的词汇。

Not everywhere, no. Some places don't allow photography for good reasons - inside some temples or museums, flash photography can damage old objects, and in religious places, taking photos of people praying can feel disrespectful. Privacy is also important, because taking photos of strangers, especially children, without asking can be a real problem even in public places. That said, in most normal tourist places, like a street market or a famous bridge, I don't think rules are necessary. So I think the general rule should be freedom to take photos, with clear exceptions where there's a real risk of harm.

    为什么是这个分数

    • GRASome places don't allow photography for good reasons - inside some temples or museums, flash photography can damage old objects, and in religious places, taking photos of people praying can feel disrespectful. Two reasons joined only with 'and' in one long sentence, a fairly basic way of listing points. A band 7 answer would likely separate these into two more clearly connected ideas with varied linking words.两个理由只用 'and' 连接在一个长句里,是相当基础的罗列观点的方式。第7分数段的答案很可能会用不同的连接词,把它们拆成两个连接更清晰的想法。
    • LRa real problemA general, plain phrase. A higher band answer would likely use a more specific word, such as calling it a 'genuine concern', instead of the vaguer 'real problem'.一个笼统、平实的短语。更高分数段的答案很可能会用一个更具体的词,比如称之为 'genuine concern',而不是更含糊的 'real problem'。
    • FCSo I think the general rule should be freedom to take photos, with clear exceptions where there's a real risk of harm.A flat closing sentence stating the conclusion directly. A 7.5 answer would more likely phrase this conclusion by explicitly rejecting the two extremes, giving a more developed final point.一个平铺直叙的结尾句,直接陈述了结论。7.5的答案更可能会通过明确否定两个极端来表达这个结论,给出一个更成熟的结尾观点。

Not entirely, no. Some places restrict photography for good reasons - inside certain temples or museums, flash photography can damage artefacts, and in some religious or sacred spaces, photographing people at prayer feels disrespectful regardless of legality. Privacy matters too; photographing strangers, especially children, without permission raises real concerns even in public spaces. That said, in most everyday tourist settings, like a street market or a famous bridge, I don't think restrictions are necessary or practical. I'd say the general rule should be reasonable freedom with clear, specific exceptions, rather than either a blanket ban or completely unrestricted photography everywhere.

Privacy matters just as much; photographing strangers, children especially, without permission raises real concerns even out in public. That said, across most everyday tourist settings - a street market, a famous bridge - restrictions strike me as unnecessary and impractical. It's really a matter of proportion, not blanket rules. The general rule, I'd say, should be reasonable freedom hedged by clear, specific exceptions, rather than swinging between a blanket ban and a free-for-all.

The 6.5 answer gives a direct 'yes' opinion, one clear example, and a personal habit at the end, using the plain connector 'though' once and simple vocabulary like 'a strange choice'.6.5的答案给出了一个直接的是的这一观点、一个清晰的例子,以及结尾一个个人习惯,用了一次平实的连接词 'though',以及像 'a strange choice' 这样简单的词汇。

Yes, I think that happens to some people. I've seen visitors at Dragon Bridge spend the whole fire show looking at their phone screen trying to get a perfect video, instead of watching the show right in front of them, which seems like a strange choice. There does seem to be more awareness of this now, though, since some tourists put their phones away on purpose to be present. I try to take one or two photos early on and then just enjoy the rest of a place, and this works better for me personally.

    是的,我觉得这确实发生在一些人身上。我见过在龙桥的游客,整场喷火表演都盯着手机屏幕,想拍出完美的视频,而不是看眼前的表演,这似乎是个奇怪的选择。不过现在似乎对这一点有了更多的意识,因为有些游客会故意把手机收起来,好让自己真正在场。我会尽量在一开始拍一两张照片,然后就单纯享受这个地方剩下的时光,这种方式对我个人来说效果更好。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCYes, I think that happens to some people.A short, direct opening statement with no hedging or reflection. A band 7 answer would more likely soften this with a phrase such as 'for some people, yes, I think that happens'.一个简短、直接的开头陈述,没有缓和语或反思。第7分数段的答案更可能会用像 'for some people, yes, I think that happens' 这样的短语来软化它。
    • LRa strange choiceA plain, general evaluative phrase. A higher band answer would likely use a more specific or idiomatic phrase, such as calling it a 'strange trade-off', to capture the same idea more precisely.一个平实、笼统的评价性短语。更高分数段的答案很可能会用一个更具体或更地道的短语,比如称之为 'strange trade-off',来更精确地捕捉同样的想法。
    • GRAI try to take one or two photos early on and then just enjoy the rest of a place, and this works better for me personally. Two ideas joined simply with 'and', a basic coordination pattern. A 7.5 answer would likely compress this into a comparative structure instead of two plain clauses added together.两个想法简单地用 'and' 连接,是一种基础的并列模式。7.5的答案很可能会把它压缩成一个比较结构,而不是两个简单相加的分句。
    7.0 分

The 7.0 answer opens with the softened 'For some people, yes' instead of a bare 'Yes', and replaces 'strange choice' with the more precise 'strange trade-off', showing a bit more reflection than band 6.5.7.0的答案以经过软化的 'For some people, yes' 开头,而不是光秃秃的 'Yes',并用更精确的 'strange trade-off' 取代了 'strange choice',比6.5展现出更多一点的反思。

For some people, yes, I think that happens. I've seen visitors at Dragon Bridge spend the entire fire show looking through their phone screen trying to get the perfect video, rather than actually watching the fire and water show directly in front of them, which seems like a strange trade-off. There does seem to be a growing awareness of this, though - some tourists deliberately put their phones away for at least part of a trip specifically to be present. I try to take one or two photos early on and then just experience the rest of a place, which I've found works better for me than trying to document everything as it happens.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCFor some people, yes, I think that happens.A softened opening that qualifies the opinion before stating it plainly, giving a more considered tone than the bare 'Yes, I think that happens to some people' phrasing at band 6.5.一个经过软化的开头,在平实地陈述观点之前先加以限定,比6.5中直白的 'Yes, I think that happens to some people' 措辞更具经过斟酌的语气。
    • LRa strange trade-offA more precise, natural collocation than the plainer 'a strange choice' phrasing at band 6.5, capturing the idea of giving something up in exchange for something else.一个比6.5更平实的 'a strange choice' 措辞更精确、更自然的搭配,捕捉到了为了换取某样东西而放弃另一样东西这个概念。
    • GRAwhich I've found works better for me than trying to document everything as it happensA comparative clause ('works better...than trying to') embedded at the end of the sentence, a more complex structure than the simple 'and this works better for me personally' clause used at band 6.5.一个比较从句('works better...than trying to')嵌入在句子末尾,比6.5使用的简单分句 'and this works better for me personally' 结构更复杂。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer uses the vivid verb 'squinting' and the idiomatic aside 'a strange trade-off if there ever was one', giving more precise, image-based vocabulary than the plainer band 7.0 wording.7.5的答案用了生动的动词 'squinting',以及地道的旁白 'a strange trade-off if there ever was one',比7.0更平实的措辞展现出更精确、更具画面感的词汇。

For some people, certainly - I've watched visitors at Dragon Bridge spend an entire fire show squinting at their phone screens chasing the perfect video, rather than watching the fire and water show unfolding right in front of them, a strange trade-off if there ever was one. There's a growing awareness of this, though, some tourists now deliberately pocketing their phones for part of a trip just to be present. I take one or two photos early on and then simply experience the rest of a place, a habit that's served me far better than trying to document everything as it happens.

    • LRsquinting at their phone screens chasing the perfect videoA vivid, image-based verb pair ('squinting...chasing') replacing the plainer 'looking through their phone screen trying to get' phrasing at band 7.0, showing the kind of precise vocabulary expected at 7.5.一对生动、具画面感的动词('squinting...chasing'),取代了7.0中更平实的 'looking through their phone screen trying to get' 措辞,展现出7.5所期望的那种精确词汇。
    • GRAa strange trade-off if there ever was oneA compact idiomatic tag appended to the sentence rather than a full separate clause, a more flexible, economical construction than the plain relative clause used for the same idea at band 7.0.一个紧凑、地道的尾标附加在句子上,而不是一个完整独立的从句,比7.0中为同样想法使用的平实关系从句更灵活、更经济。
    • FCa habit that's served me far better than trying to document everything as it happensThe closing comparison is folded into a relative clause describing 'a habit', a more compact and polished finish than the separate 'which I've found works better' clause used at band 7.0.结尾的比较被融合进一个描述习惯的关系从句里,比7.0使用的独立从句 'which I've found works better' 收尾更紧凑、更精致。

The 6.5 answer opens with the natural marker 'Honestly' and gives one main reason with a personal example, using the plain connector 'so' twice and simple vocabulary like 'fake' and 'trustworthy'.6.5的答案以自然的标记词 'Honestly' 开头,并给出一个配有个人例子的主要理由,用了两次平实的连接词 'so',以及像 'fake' 和 'trustworthy' 这样简单的词汇。

Honestly, less and less these days. Editing apps have become so advanced that even a simple app can change lighting, remove objects, or smooth details, and AI images blur the line between real and fake. In my own design work, I regularly edit product photos for clients to make an app screenshot look cleaner, so I know how easily a photo can be changed without looking fake. Where a photo comes from matters too - a photo from a real news company is more trustworthy than one shared online. So people should be a bit doubtful about photos now.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCHonestly, less and less these days.A short, direct opening reaction. A band 7 answer would more likely follow this immediately with a fuller reason connected in the same sentence rather than a separate short one.一个简短、直接的开头反应。第7分数段的答案更可能会紧接着在同一个句子里给出一个更完整的理由,而不是用一个独立的简短句子。
    • GRAIn my own design work, I regularly edit product photos for clients to make an app screenshot look cleaner, so I know how easily a photo can be changed without looking fake.A main clause with one 'so' clause explaining the result, a fairly basic way of connecting personal experience to a conclusion. A 7.5 answer would likely fold this into a more compact structure.一个主句加一个解释结果的 'so' 从句,是把个人经历和结论连接起来相当基础的方式。7.5的答案很可能会把它融合进一个更紧凑的结构。
    • LRa bit doubtfulA plain, general phrase. A higher band answer would likely reach for a more specific or idiomatic word, such as 'sceptical', to describe the same attitude.一个平实、笼统的短语。更高分数段的答案很可能会选用一个更具体或更地道的词,比如 'sceptical',来描述同样的态度。
    7.0 分

Honestly, less and less these days. Editing tools have become so advanced that even a fairly basic phone app can noticeably alter lighting, remove objects, or smooth out details, and AI-generated images are making it even harder to distinguish real photos from fabricated ones. In my own design work, I regularly retouch product photos for clients to make an app screenshot look cleaner, so I'm well aware of how easily an image can be adjusted without looking obviously fake. Context and source matter a lot now - a photo from a verified news outlet carries more trust than one shared anonymously online. But as a general rule, I think people should treat photos with a healthy amount of scepticism today.

    为什么是这个分数

    • LRa healthy amount of scepticismA more precise, natural collocation than the plainer 'a bit doubtful' phrasing used at band 6.5, showing deliberate word choice, though not yet the most vivid phrasing a 7.5 answer would select.一个比6.5使用的更平实的 'a bit doubtful' 措辞更精确、更自然的搭配,展现出经过斟酌的用词,不过还没有达到7.5答案会选用的那种最生动的措辞。
    • GRAso I'm well aware of how easily an image can be adjusted without looking obviously fakeA passive construction ('can be adjusted') embedded in a 'so' clause, giving slightly more grammatical variety than the simpler active 'a photo can be changed' clause used at band 6.5.一个被动结构('can be adjusted')嵌入在一个 'so' 从句里,比6.5使用的更简单的主动分句 'a photo can be changed' 展现出稍微更多的语法变化。
    • FCBut as a general rule, I think people should treat photosThe phrase 'as a general rule' frames the closing opinion as a considered conclusion rather than a flat statement, a small reflective touch typical of band 7.0.短语 'as a general rule' 把结尾的观点框定为一个经过斟酌的结论,而不是平铺直叙的陈述,这是7.0典型的一处小小的反思性点缀。

Honestly, less and less these days. Editing tools have grown so sophisticated that even a basic phone app can noticeably alter lighting, erase objects, or smooth away detail, and AI-generated images are making it harder still to tell a real photo from a fabricated one. In my own design work, I routinely retouch product photos for clients to make an app screenshot look cleaner, so I know first-hand how easily an image can be adjusted without ever looking obviously fake. Source matters enormously now - a photo from a verified news outlet carries far more weight than one drifting around anonymously online. So a healthy dose of scepticism seems like the only sensible default these days.

    • GRAso I know first-hand how easily an image can be adjusted without ever looking obviously fakeThe adverb 'first-hand' compresses the idea of personal experience into a single word rather than the fuller 'I'm well aware of' phrase used at band 7.0, a more economical construction.副词 'first-hand' 把个人经历这个想法压缩进一个单词里,而不是像7.0使用的更完整的 'I'm well aware of' 短语,这是一种更经济的结构。

To some extent, yes, especially for violent content, and photos of identifiable victims, especially children, who can't agree to being shown. News companies should inform people without being needlessly shocking, and I think some of them cross that line just to get attention. That said, I wouldn't want rules so strict that they stop important photos being shown - photos of real suffering in war or disaster have changed public opinion, precisely because they were shown. So the rules should probably focus more on dignity and consent than on just avoiding anything difficult to look at.

    • GRANews companies should inform people without being needlessly shocking, and I think some of them cross that line just to get attention. Two ideas joined with 'and' in one sentence, a basic coordination pattern rather than more varied subordination. Yes, definitely - there are famous examples of this, where one powerful image changed opinion more than pages of written articles ever could. I've seen a small version of this - a before-and-after clean-up photo near My Khe Beach did more to convince friends to cut plastic use than any article we'd all read and forgotten. I've experienced a small version of this myself - a single before-and-after photo of a coastal clean-up near My Khe Beach did more to convince my own friend group to cut down on plastic use than any article we'd all read and forgotten about. The 7.5 answer uses the compact verb phrase 'land emotionally, immediately' and closes with the idiomatic 'the spark that lights the rest of it', showing more compressed, vivid phrasing than the fuller band 7.0 sentence.7.5的答案用了紧凑的动词短语 'land emotionally, immediately',并以地道的 'the spark that lights the rest of it' 收尾,比7.0更完整的句子展现出更凝练、更生动的措辞。

Definitely, yes - history is full of examples of exactly that, one striking image shifting public opinion on a war or humanitarian crisis more than pages of written reporting ever managed. Photos work this way because they bypass abstract explanation altogether and land emotionally, immediately. I've felt a small version of this myself: a single before-and-after photo of a coastal clean-up near My Khe Beach did more to convince my own friend group to cut plastic use than any article we'd all read and promptly forgotten. Of course, a photo rarely creates lasting change on its own, without follow-up action, but it can absolutely be the spark that lights the rest of it.

I think people like taking photos because it helps them remember special moments later. For example, my colleague Quân often takes pictures during our lunch breaks at the office. He says it's his way of remembering not just the food but the funny things people say. Last week, he took a photo of our team around a delivery of bánh xèo. Just last week, he took a photo of our team crowded around a delivery of steaming bánh xèo, and honestly you could almost smell it just looking at the photo afterwards. With smartphones making it so effortless, it's basically become second nature for most people. Of course, not everyone shares photos publicly; for some it's more of a private record.

My colleague Quân is a case in point: he's constantly snapping pictures during our office lunch breaks, not for the food itself but for the throwaway jokes and odd little moments that would otherwise vanish. Just last week he caught our whole team crowding around a delivery of steaming bánh xèo, and there's something almost tactile about that photo, you can practically smell the herbs and dipping sauce. That said, plenty of people still keep their photos entirely private, more interested in the record than the audience.

My colleague Thao is a good example: last month she spent an entire afternoon café-hopping around Da Nang, photographing everything from her coffee cup to the latte art to the light hitting the café windows, partly for herself, partly for Zalo and Instagram. Honestly, that kind of documentation - a sunset near Dragon Bridge, a candid selfie mid-run on the beach - feels far more normal now than posed, formal portraits ever did. There's still a place for the occasional staged shot, but in my circle at least, the spontaneous, half-considered photo has quietly won out.

I think for some people, a camera doesn't capture a moment so much as interrupt it, which is reason enough to avoid one. My old university roommate in Hanoi, Minh, was a perfect example - he'd duck behind someone or pull an exaggerated face rather than sit for a serious shot, and he once admitted he'd rather trust the memory to his own head than to a photo that always felt slightly staged once he looked back on it. To be fair, I've come to see his point. There's also a quieter reason some people opt out entirely: a growing wariness about how easily a photo can end up circulating online without their say. So it's less that they dislike photography, more that they're guarding something private.

I get the instinct to document everything, but certain spaces - hospitals, places of worship - demand a bit of restraint before the phone comes out at all.

In public spots like My Khe Beach or Han Market, taking photos is pretty normal and often adds to the fun, especially when you're with friends. That said, there are moments where it clearly isn't appropriate - last month, for instance, I attended a quiet memorial ceremony for a colleague's relative in Hue, and someone started snapping pictures during the speeches, which felt genuinely intrusive, almost disrespectful to the grieving family. So while photos are a great way to hold onto memories, I'd say it's important to read the mood before pulling out your phone.

I don't think appropriateness lives in the location at all - it lives in whether a camera adds to a moment or quietly steals something from it. At a spot like My Khe Beach or Han Market, a camera adds nothing but fun, especially surrounded by friends. But last month, at a hushed memorial ceremony for a colleague's relative in Hue, someone started snapping photos mid-speech, and the click of a phone camera against that silence felt almost violent - certainly disrespectful to a family that was grieving in real time. So while I love what photos preserve, I'd argue the real skill is reading a room before you ever raise the phone, not deciding in advance that some places are simply off-limits.

Last summer at the Marble Mountains, my colleague Minh illustrated this perfectly: he kept stopping every few minutes to set up his tripod for yet another angle of the same view, and while the resulting photos were genuinely impressive, he barely registered the group's conversations or the small sensory details around him, the incense, the chanting drifting down from the temple. Photos do preserve memories, I won't deny that, but constant photography can quietly turn an adventure into something closer to a checklist, ticked off one frame at a time.

    • FCthe camera can quietly swap places with the experience it's supposed to be recording - you end up travelling to produce photos, rather than photographing to remember travellingAn abstract, almost paradoxical framing built on a role-reversal image, well beyond the literal claims at 6.5 and 7.0.一种抽象、近乎悖论式的框架,建立在一个角色互换的意象之上,远远超越了6.5和7.0字面化的论断。
    • LRthe incense, the chanting drifting down from the templeA fragment-style sensory list that's more evocative than the fuller but plainer sentences at the lower bands.一个片段式的感官列表,比较低分数段更完整却更平实的句子更有感染力。
    • GRAconstant photography can quietly turn an adventure into something closer to a checklist, ticked off one frame at a timeA compact metaphor ('checklist') extended with a trailing modifying phrase, more structurally ambitious than the simple contrast sentences at 6.5 and 7.0.一个紧凑的比喻('checklist'),通过一个尾随的修饰短语得到了延伸,比6.5和7.0简单的对比句在结构上更有野心。

States the reason plainly and closes with a simple 'but' contrast, using everyday phrasing like 'feel more special'.平实地陈述了原因,并以一个简单的 'but' 对比收尾,使用了像 'feel more special' 这样的日常措辞。

I think a lot of people share their photos on social media because it makes them feel connected to others. For example, my colleague Vy always posts her weekend trips on Instagram or Zalo, whether it's a sunrise at My Khe Beach or a new café near Tran Phu street. She told me that seeing friends react to her photos makes those moments feel more special, and it helps her stay in touch with people she doesn't see often, like her cousins in Hanoi. Of course, there's also some social pressure to keep up, but I think mostly it's about connection.

    • FCI think a lot of people share their photos on social media because it makes them feel connected to others.A plain, direct claim, less conceptual than 7.5's framing of photos as 'a kind of currency'.一个平实、直接的论断,不如7.5那种把照片框定为一种货币有概念性。
    • LRseeing friends react to her photos makes those moments feel more specialPlain phrasing, compared to 7.5's 'watching friends react is part of what makes the moment feel real to her'.平实的措辞,相比之下7.5的 'watching friends react is part of what makes the moment feel real to her' 更细腻。
    • GRAOf course, there's also some social pressure to keep up, but I think mostly it's about connection.A simple 'but' contrast, less layered than 7.5's closing sentence with 'curate a good life'.一个简单的 'but' 对比,不如7.5那个带有 'curate a good life' 的结尾句有层次。

Adds a small extra reason ('validation too') and a personal qualifier for a slightly more natural close.加入了一个额外的小理由('validation too'),以及一个个人化的限定语,使结尾稍微更自然一些。

Honestly, I think a lot of people share their photos on social media because it gives them a sense of connection, and maybe a bit of validation too. My colleague Vy, for example, always posts her weekend adventures on Instagram or Zalo, whether it's a beach sunrise at My Khe or a new café near Tran Phu street. She once told me that seeing friends react makes those moments feel like they matter more, and it also lets her stay in touch with cousins she rarely sees in Hanoi. Of course, there's some social pressure involved too, but personally I'm a bit more private about it.

    • FCHonestly, I think a lot of people share their photos on social media because it gives them a sense of connection, and maybe a bit of validation too.Adds 'and maybe a bit of validation too' as a small elaboration beyond 6.5's single-reason claim, though still less abstract than 7.5's 'currency' metaphor.加入了 'and maybe a bit of validation too' 作为超越6.5单一理由论断的小小补充,不过依然没有7.5的 'currency' 比喻抽象。

Opens with the economic metaphor 'currency' and closes with the idiom 'putting mine out there', showing precise, abstract phrasing.以经济学比喻 'currency' 开头,并以习语 'putting mine out there' 收尾,展现出精确、抽象的措辞。

I think social media has quietly turned photos into a kind of currency - proof that a moment happened, and an invitation for other people to confirm it mattered. My colleague Vy is a good case study: her weekend adventures, a sunrise at My Khe, a new café near Tran Phu street, go straight onto Instagram and Zalo, and she's admitted that watching friends react is part of what makes the moment feel real to her, alongside the more practical upside of staying in touch with cousins she rarely sees in Hanoi. There's undeniably a bit of social pressure baked into all this too, the quiet competition to keep up or curate a good life. I get the appeal, though I've always stayed a little more guarded about putting mine out there.

    • FCsocial media has quietly turned photos into a kind of currency - proof that a moment happened, and an invitation for other people to confirm it matteredAn abstract, economic metaphor ('currency') that reframes the whole question, well beyond the direct claims at 6.5 and 7.0.一个抽象的经济学比喻('currency'),重新框定了整个问题,远远超越了6.5和7.0直接的论断。
