Simple contrastive linking with 'but' and plain reasoning in 'because she is satisfied with the simple things in her life' keep the language clear and accurate but unadventurous, typical of Band 6.5.用'but'做出的简单对比连接,以及'because she is satisfied with the simple things in her life'(因为她满足于生活中简单的小事)这样朴素的说理,让语言清晰准确但缺乏冒险精神,是典型的6.5分水平。

The happy person I want to talk about is my grandmother, who lives in Hue with my parents. She is almost eighty years old now.

My grandmother is small and quite thin, but she is always busy. She grows vegetables and flowers in the small garden behind the house, and she takes care of them every single morning. She isn't very rich, and her health isn't perfect either, but she never really complains about anything.

She shows her happiness mostly by singing. She sings old songs while she is cooking or watering her plants, and she smiles at almost everyone she meets, even strangers. Whenever I visit, she always cooks my favourite dishes and tells funny stories about when my mother was young, laughing loudly at her own jokes.

I think she is a happy person because she is satisfied with the simple things in her life. She doesn't need anything expensive to feel good, just her garden, her family, and her cooking. Every time I go back to Hue and see her, her happiness makes me feel calmer too, and I always leave feeling better than when I arrived. Honestly, I hope I can be as content as she is when I get older.

  • LRshe is always busy"Always busy" is about the most generic way possible to describe someone's active lifestyle, avoiding any more specific or vivid alternative ("constantly on the go," "never idle") that a higher-band speaker might reach for in the same spot. It functions as a simple thesis statement that the following sentences about gardening and singing then illustrate, so the plainness here is compensated for by concrete detail later in the paragraph. This split — plain summary language plus concrete supporting detail — is a common and acceptable pattern at Band 6.5, where the vocabulary itself stays modest."Always busy" 几乎是描述一个人生活活跃程度最笼统的说法,避开了更高分数段说话者可能在同一位置使用的更具体或更生动的替代表达("constantly on the go"、"never idle")。它充当一个简单的论点句,后面关于园艺和唱歌的句子对其加以说明,因此这里的平淡被段落后面的具体细节所弥补。这种平淡的概括性语言加具体支撑细节的分工,是 Band 6.5 常见且可接受的模式,其中词汇本身保持在朴素的水平。
  • FCI think she is a happy person because she is satisfied with the simple things in her life. This sentence directly answers the implicit "why do you think she's happy" question with one because-clause, front-loading the opinion ("I think she is a happy person") before the single supporting reason, a clear and efficient but linguistically modest way to structure an argument. There is no further layering — no example embedded in the same sentence, no concession — so the reasoning stays at the one-clause level the descriptor associates with Band 6.5. The phrase "satisfied with the simple things in her life" is common rather than reaching for a more precise term like "contentment," which would be more typical of a 7.0+ answer.这句话用一个 because 从句直接回答了隐含的"你为什么认为她幸福"这一问题,把观点前置("I think she is a happy person"),后面跟着唯一一个支撑理由,这是一种清晰、高效但语言上较为朴素的论证结构方式。这里没有进一步的分层——没有嵌入同一句话中的例子,没有让步——因此推理停留在该描述语所关联的 Band 6.5 单从句水平。短语 "satisfied with the simple things in her life" 是常见表达,而不是像 "contentment" 这样更精确的术语,后者更可能出现在 Band 7.0+ 的答案中。
  • GRAShe isn't very rich, and her health isn't perfect either, but she never really complains about anything.Three short clauses are joined with "and" and "but" into one sentence, building a simple additive-then-contrastive structure rather than subordinating the first two ideas under a single concessive clause ("although she isn't rich and her health isn't perfect..."). The pattern is accurate and entirely clear, but it's the coordination-based sentence-building the descriptor flags as elementary for Band 6.5, since the two negative facts and the positive contrast are simply lined up rather than integrated. "Never really complains" is a common hedge-plus-verb combination, adding a small amount of nuance without needing more advanced vocabulary.三个短分句用 "and" 和 "but" 连接成一个句子,构建出一种简单的先递加后转折结构,而不是把前两个想法都归入一个单一的让步从句之下("although she isn't rich and her health isn't perfect...")。这种模式准确且完全清晰,但正是该描述语标记为 Band 6.5 基础水平的那种基于并列的造句方式,因为两个负面事实与一个积极对比只是被简单地并排列出,而没有被整合起来。"Never really complains" 是一个常见的缓和语+动词组合,增添了一点点细微差别,却不需要更高阶的词汇。
7.0 分

The not-because-but-because contrast in the final sentence and the natural collocation 'turns it into a funny story' show a comfortable range of structure and phrasing that develops the answer with reasoning rather than just description, sitting clearly above 6.5.结尾句中'not because... but because'(不是因为……而是因为)的对比结构,以及自然的搭配用法'turns it into a funny story'(把它变成一个好笑的故事),都展现出从容的句式和措辞范围,用说理而非单纯描述来展开答案,明显高于6.5分水平。

The happy person I'd like to talk about is my older sister, Mai, who works as a primary school teacher here in Da Nang.

Mai is in her late twenties, quite tall, and always seems to have energy left over even after a long day at school. She's warm and easy-going, and she's the kind of person who remembers little details about people, like a friend's favourite drink or somebody's exam date, and asks about them without being asked to.

She shows her happiness mostly through how she talks to people, actually. She laughs a lot, sometimes at things that aren't even that funny, and she has this habit of humming songs while she's cooking dinner or marking homework at the kitchen table. Even when something goes wrong, like the time her motorbike broke down in the rain, she somehow turns it into a funny story rather than a complaint.

I think she's a genuinely happy person because she doesn't seem to compare her life to other people's very much. She earns a modest salary as a teacher, much less than some of her old university friends, but she never really talks about that. Instead, she focuses on small things, like a good lesson with her students or a nice meal with the family, and that seems to be enough for her.

Being around Mai definitely puts me in a better mood, honestly. Whenever I'm feeling stressed about work, I usually end up calling her, not because she gives amazing advice, but because her attitude towards life reminds me not to take everything so seriously.

  • LRturns it into a funny story rather than a complaintThe contrastive pairing 'a funny story rather than a complaint' works as a natural collocation that characterises Mai's attitude through contrast instead of a flat adjective like 'positive', which is the kind of flexible, topic-specific phrasing the 7.0 descriptor targets. A 6.5 answer would likely just say 'she doesn't complain', while a 7.5 script might push further into figurative language; here the comparison stays accurate and idiomatic without drawing attention to itself, fitting the motorbike-breakdown anecdote it describes.对比性搭配'a funny story rather than a complaint'作为一种自然的搭配,通过对比而非像'positive'这样平淡的形容词来刻画阿梅(Mai)的态度,这正是7.0分描述所追求的那种灵活、话题相关的措辞。6.5分的答案很可能只会说'she doesn't complain',而7.5分的答案则可能进一步推向比喻性语言;这里的比较保持准确且地道,却不引人注目,恰好契合它所描述的那段摩托车抛锚的轶事。
  • FCShe shows her happiness mostly through how she talks to people, actually. This topic sentence signals exactly what the following paragraph of detail will illustrate, and the spoken tag 'actually' softens it into natural speech rather than a scripted-sounding transition -- both features the 7.0 fluency descriptor rewards as natural linking. A 6.5 answer would more likely jump straight into examples without this organising sentence, while the discourse marker here keeps the paragraph about Mai's habits (humming while cooking, remembering small details) coherently signposted.这句主题句准确预示了接下来这段细节将要说明的内容,而口语化的语气词'actually'把它软化成自然的口语,而不是听起来像背稿的转折——这两个特点都是7.0分流利度描述所奖励的自然衔接方式。6.5分的答案更可能会直接跳进例子,而没有这样一句起组织作用的句子;而这里的话语标记则让关于阿梅习惯(做饭时哼歌、记得小细节)的这段话保持了连贯的路标标识。
  • GRAI usually end up calling her, not because she gives amazing advice, but because her attitude towards life reminds me not to take everything so seriously. The 'not because X, but because Y' frame is a genuinely complex structure, correctly balanced across two parallel because-clauses, which sits right at the comfortable-but-not-showy end of the 7.0 grammar range. A 6.5 script would most likely simplify this into two separate sentences, while the parallelism and precision here let the speaker explain a subtle distinction -- that comfort, not advice, is what she values in Mai -- without any grammatical strain.'not because X, but because Y'这一框架是一个真正复杂的结构,在两个平行的because从句之间被准确地平衡起来,恰好处于7.0分语法范围中那种运用自如却不炫耀的一端。6.5分的答案很可能会把这简化成两个独立的句子,而这里的排比与精确则让说话人能够解释一种微妙的区别——她在阿梅身上看重的是舒适感而非建议——却没有任何语法上的勉强。

The concessive structure 'It's not that his life is particularly easy; actually... but he seems to genuinely enjoy...' balances contrasting ideas within one sentence, and the figurative 'his positive energy is almost contagious' shows the idiomatic reach typical of Band 7.5.让步结构'It's not that his life is particularly easy; actually... but he seems to genuinely enjoy...'(并不是说他的生活特别轻松;事实上……但他似乎是发自内心地享受……)在一句话里平衡了对立的想法,而比喻性的说法'his positive energy is almost contagious'(他身上的那股正能量几乎有感染力)则展现出7.5分典型的地道语言驾驭能力。

One of the happiest people I know is my uncle, whose name is Nam. He runs a small family restaurant just outside of Hue, not far from where my parents and grandmother live. I see him every time I go back to visit, and honestly, his positive energy is almost contagious.

Uncle Nam is in his early forties, a bit round in the middle from years of taste-testing, and he's got this huge, booming laugh you can hear from across the street. He's outgoing, extremely friendly, and always remembers details about people's lives-even small things I forget, like what my friends do or what I mentioned eating last time. He's the type who greets every customer by name whenever possible and tells light-hearted stories, even when the restaurant gets super busy during lunch hours.

He shows his happiness mostly through small acts-like cracking jokes with his staff, singing along to songs playing on the radio while he works, or giving away free bowls of chè to kids who stop by after school. If something goes wrong in the kitchen, he just shrugs and finds a way to laugh about it. It's not that his life is particularly easy; actually, running a restaurant is stressful, but he seems to genuinely enjoy what he's doing and the people around him.

I think what makes Uncle Nam truly happy is his outlook-he finds pleasure in the simple routines, his food, and especially the community he's built. He's grateful for what he has, and that really comes across in how he treats people. Whenever I'm home, being around him just puts me in a good mood.

  • LRhis positive energy is almost contagious'Contagious' is used metaphorically here, borrowed from illness to describe an emotional effect, which is exactly the kind of natural figurative touch the 7.5 lexical descriptor calls for -- used once, and in service of meaning rather than as decoration. A 7.0 answer would likely settle for something safer like 'he's very positive', so the metaphor marks a genuine step up, while still reading as spoken rather than written language, appropriate for describing how Uncle Nam affects people around his restaurant."Contagious"在这里是隐喻用法,借用"传染"这一疾病概念来描述一种情绪上的感染力,这正是Band 7.5词汇描述所要求的那种自然的比喻笔触——只用一次,服务于意义而非装饰。Band 7.0的答案很可能会选择更保险的说法,比如"he's very positive",因此这个隐喻标志着真正的提升,同时读起来仍像口语而非书面语,恰好适合描述南叔如何感染他餐厅周围的人。
  • FCIt's not that his life is particularly easy; actually, running a restaurant is stressful, but he seems to genuinely enjoy what he's doingThis sentence performs the single reflective, evaluative move the 7.5 fluency descriptor asks for: rather than just describing Uncle Nam as happy, it explicitly weighs the hardship of running a restaurant against his enjoyment of it, arriving at an interpretation rather than a fact. A 7.0 answer would more likely state the happiness and the difficulty as separate, unconnected observations; here the semicolon and 'but' actively construct the insight that his happiness is chosen despite stress, not the absence of it.
  • GRAa bit round in the middle from years of taste-testingThe reduced phrase 'from years of taste-testing' compresses what could have been a full clause ('because he has tasted food for years') into an economical prepositional tag, giving a varied sentence structure without adding a whole new clause -- the kind of grammatical flexibility the 7.5 descriptor rewards. A 6.5 or 7.0 answer would likely spell this out as a separate 'because' sentence, whereas the compression here also lets the detail double as gentle humour about a restaurant owner's physique.缩略短语"from years of taste-testing"把本可以写成完整从句("because he has tasted food for years")的内容压缩成一个精简的介词短语标签,在不额外添加整个从句的情况下呈现出多样的句式结构——这正是Band 7.5描述所奖励的那种语法灵活性。Band 6.5或7.0的答案很可能会用单独的"because"句把这一点说清楚,而这里的压缩处理还顺带让这个细节兼具了一层关于餐厅老板体型的温和幽默感。

The 6.5 answer gives a plain list of activities and one concrete family example, using simple connectors like 'because' and 'too' to move between points, ending with a direct comparison to 'formal lessons'.6.5分答案给出了一个朴素的活动列表和一个具体的家庭例子,用 'because' 和 'too' 这样简单的连接词来串联各个要点,最后以和 'formal lessons' 的直接比较结束。

Young children usually enjoy things that are hands-on and social, not sitting still at a desk — drawing, singing, playing outside at break time, that kind of thing. Group activities seem to be the most popular, because children that age like doing things together rather than alone. A friend of mine has a seven-year-old daughter who mostly talks about art class and playground games when she gets home, not maths or spelling. Storytelling and simple games with a bit of competition, like team quizzes, are popular too. Basically, anything that feels like play holds their attention much better than formal lessons.

    • FCBasically, anything that feels like play holds their attention much better than formal lessons.A plain closing summary introduced with the basic filler 'Basically'. A 7.0 or 7.5 answer would more likely fold this generalisation into the sentence describing the daughter, rather than tacking it on as a separate final line.一个用基础填充词 'Basically' 引出的朴素结尾总结。7.0或7.5分答案更可能把这个概括性的表述并入描述那个女儿的句子中,而不是作为单独的最后一行附加上去。
    • LRGroup activities seem to be the most popularA plain, generic phrase ('the most popular'). A higher band would likely use a more vivid noun such as group activities being 'the biggest draw', which conveys more pull or appeal than the flat 'popular'.一个朴素、笼统的短语('the most popular')。更高分的答案更可能使用更生动的名词,比如把小组活动说成 'the biggest draw',这比平淡的 'popular' 更能传达出那种吸引力。
    • GRAA friend of mine has a seven-year-old daughter who mostly talks about art class and playground games when she gets home, not maths or spellingA relative clause tagged onto the main statement, clear but standard. A 7.5 answer would be more likely to compress this into an appositive phrase, such as 'A friend's seven-year-old daughter, for instance,' instead of the fuller 'A friend of mine has a...who' structure.一个附加在主句上的关系从句,清楚但比较常规。7.5分答案更可能把它压缩成一个同位语短语,比如 'A friend's seven-year-old daughter, for instance,',而不是更完整的 'A friend of mine has a...who' 结构。
    7.0 分

The 7.0 answer upgrades 'the most popular' to the more vivid 'the biggest draw' and softens the opening with 'honestly', while the final sentence adds the more developed contrast 'play rather than formal instruction'.7.0分答案将 'the most popular' 升级为更生动的 'the biggest draw',并用 'honestly' 软化了开头,而结尾句则加上了更完整的对比 'play rather than formal instruction'。

Young children tend to enjoy anything hands-on and social rather than sitting still, honestly — drawing, singing, playing outside during break time, that sort of thing. Group activities seem to be the biggest draw, since children that age are naturally social and enjoy doing something together rather than alone. A friend of mine has a seven-year-old daughter who talks mostly about art class and playground games when she gets home, rarely about maths or spelling. Storytelling and simple games with some element of competition, like team quizzes, are also popular. Basically, anything that feels like play rather than formal instruction tends to hold their attention far better.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCYoung children tend to enjoy anything hands-on and social rather than sitting still, honestlyThe spoken filler 'honestly' inserted into the opening statement gives it a more natural, conversational rhythm than the flatter, unhedged opening a 6.5 answer would use for the same claim.插入到开头陈述中的口语填充词 'honestly',让它有了比6.5分答案对同样论断使用的、更平淡、不加缓和的开头更自然、更接近口语的节奏。
    • LRGroup activities seem to be the biggest drawThe noun phrase 'the biggest draw' is a more vivid, natural collocation than the plain 'the most popular' a 6.5 answer uses for the same idea, suggesting real pull rather than just frequency.名词短语 'the biggest draw' 比6.5分答案用于同样意思的朴素表达 'the most popular' 更生动、更自然,暗示的是真正的吸引力,而不仅仅是频率。
    • GRAanything that feels like play rather than formal instruction tends to hold their attention far betterA 'rather than' contrast is built directly into the closing generalisation, a more compact structure than the separate comparison ('holds their attention much better than formal lessons') the 6.5 answer tacks on at the end.一个 'rather than' 对比直接构建在结尾的概括性表述中,比6.5分答案在末尾附加的独立比较('holds their attention much better than formal lessons')更紧凑。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer uses the vivid verbs 'gravitate towards', 'tearing around' and 'relish', compressing the family example into an appositive phrase, and closes on the sharper comparison 'far longer than a worksheet ever could'.7.5分答案使用了生动的动词 'gravitate towards'、'tearing around' 和 'relish',把家庭例子压缩成了一个同位语短语,并以更犀利的比较 'far longer than a worksheet ever could' 收尾。

Young children gravitate towards anything hands-on and social rather than sitting still, honestly — drawing, singing, tearing around outside during break time, that sort of thing. Group activities seem to be the biggest draw, since children that age are naturally sociable and relish doing something together rather than alone. A friend's seven-year-old daughter, for instance, comes home talking almost exclusively about art class and playground games, rarely maths or spelling. Storytelling and simple games with a competitive edge, like team quizzes, go down well too. Basically, anything that feels like play rather than formal instruction tends to hold their attention far longer than a worksheet ever could.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCBasically, anything that feels like play rather than formal instruction tends to hold their attention far longer than a worksheet ever could. The closing generalisation ends on a concrete, slightly witty image ('than a worksheet ever could') rather than the abstract 'formal lessons' comparison the lower bands settle for, giving the ending more punch.结尾的概括性表述以一个具体、略带机智的画面('than a worksheet ever could')收束,而不是较低分版本满足于的抽象比较 'formal lessons',让结尾更有力度。
    • LRYoung children gravitate towards anything hands-on and social rather than sitting stillThe verb 'gravitate towards' is a more precise, natural choice than the plain 'enjoy' or 'tend to enjoy' the lower bands use, suggesting an almost automatic pull towards these activities.动词 'gravitate towards' 比较低分版本使用的朴素的 'enjoy' 或 'tend to enjoy' 更精确、更自然,暗示的是一种近乎自动产生的、对这些活动的吸引力。

Recognising effort, not just results, makes a big difference, I think — children who feel they're always being compared to the top students tend to lose interest quickly. Teachers who mix lessons with games, group projects and some physical movement also keep the classroom feeling less like a chore. Building a bit of personal connection helps too, like remembering a child's favourite game or pet, which makes school feel less impersonal. Reducing exam pressure at a young age matters as well, since anxiety early on can put children off learning. So I think warmth and variety matter more than strict discipline.

    • FCSo I think warmth and variety matter more than strict discipline.A short, plain closing sentence that restates the overall view directly. A higher band would likely use the more specific, natural collocation 'personal rapport', which is the more precise term for this idea in an educational context.一个朴素、笼统的名词短语('personal connection')。更高分的答案更可能使用更具体、更自然的搭配 'personal rapport',这是在教育语境下表达这个想法更精确的术语。

A 7.5 answer would be more likely to use a more vivid adverb like 'perpetually' in place of 'always' for a sharper, less common description.一个使用朴素被动式 'being compared' 的关系从句。7.5分答案更可能使用更生动的副词,比如用 'perpetually' 代替 'always',以获得更犀利、更不常见的描述。

The 7.0 answer upgrades 'personal connection' to the more precise 'personal rapport' and uses a semicolon to link the rapport point to its supporting detail, closing with the reflective 'Overall' instead of a plain 'So'.7.0分答案将 'personal connection' 升级为更精确的 'personal rapport',并用分号把关于交情的论点和支持细节连接起来,以更具反思性的 'Overall' 收尾,而不是平实的 'So'。

Recognising effort rather than only results makes a real difference, I'd say — children who feel constantly compared to top performers tend to lose enthusiasm quickly. Teachers who build in variety, mixing lessons with games, group projects and some physical movement, also keep classrooms feeling less like a chore. A bit of personal rapport helps too; simply remembering small details about a child's interests, like their favourite game or pet, makes school feel less impersonal. Reducing unnecessary pressure around exams at a young age matters as well, since anxiety at that stage can put children off learning altogether. Overall, warmth and variety seem to matter more than strict discipline.

    • FCOverall, warmth and variety seem to matter more than strict discipline. The connector 'Overall' frames the closing statement as a considered summary rather than the flatter 'So I think' opening the 6.5 answer uses for the same conclusion.连接词 'Overall' 把结尾陈述框定为一个经过思考的总结,而不是6.5分答案用于同样结论的更平淡的开头 'So I think'。
    • LRA bit of personal rapport helps tooThe noun 'rapport' is a more precise, natural term than the plain 'personal connection' a 6.5 answer uses, and is the standard collocation for this idea in an educational context.名词 'rapport' 比6.5分答案使用的朴素的 'personal connection' 更精确、更自然,是在教育语境下表达这个想法的标准搭配。
    • GRAA bit of personal rapport helps too; simply remembering small details about a child's interests, like their favourite game or pet, makes school feel less impersonalA semicolon links the claim directly to its supporting explanation in one flowing sentence, more developed than the shorter 'helps too, like remembering...' structure the 6.5 answer uses for the same content.一个分号把论断直接和支持性的解释连接在一句流畅的话里,比6.5分答案用于同样内容的更短的 'helps too, like remembering...' 结构更完整。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer uses the less common adverb 'perpetually' and the idiom 'goes a long way', closing with the stronger verb 'outweigh' and the emphatic 'every time' instead of the plainer 'matter more than'.7.5分答案使用了不太常见的副词 'perpetually' 和习语 'goes a long way',以更强烈的动词 'outweigh' 和强调性的 'every time' 收尾,而不是较为朴素的 'matter more than'。

Recognising effort rather than only results makes a real difference, I'd say — children who feel perpetually measured against the top performers tend to lose enthusiasm fast. Teachers who weave variety into lessons, mixing games, group projects and a bit of physical movement, also keep classrooms feeling less like a chore. A little personal rapport goes a long way too; remembering something as small as a child's favourite game or pet is often enough to make school feel less impersonal. Easing unnecessary pressure around exams at a young age matters just as much, since anxiety that early can put children off learning for good. Warmth and variety, in the end, seem to outweigh strict discipline every time.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCWarmth and variety, in the end, seem to outweigh strict discipline every time. The inserted phrase 'in the end' and the emphatic 'every time' give the closing conclusion more rhetorical weight than the flatter 'matter more than' statements the lower bands settle for.插入的短语 'in the end' 和强调性的 'every time',让结尾的结论比较低分版本满足于的较为平淡的 'matter more than' 陈述更有修辞分量。

The 6.5 answer gives a direct 'not always, but mostly' opinion and one plain example (times tables), using 'because' and 'but' to link the reasoning and the caveat.6.5分答案给出了一个直接的 'not always, but mostly' 观点,以及一个平实的例子(乘法表),用 'because' 和 'but' 来连接论证和但书。

Not always, no, but it should be enjoyable most of the time. Some subjects need repetition and effort that isn't really fun, like memorising times tables, and I think it's good for children to learn to push through something a bit boring, because that builds patience for later. But if school feels joyless most of the time, children start connecting learning with stress, which can hurt their motivation in the long run. So I think the goal should be enjoyment most of the time, with a bit of tolerance for the less exciting, necessary parts.

    • FCSo I think the goal should be enjoyment most of the time, with a bit of tolerance for the less exciting, necessary parts.A plain closing sentence that repeats 'most of the time' from the opening almost word for word. A 7.0 or 7.5 answer would more likely vary the phrasing here, using terms like 'the general tone' or 'the default tone' instead of repeating the earlier wording.一个几乎逐字重复开头 'most of the time' 的朴素结尾句。7.0或7.5分答案更可能在这里变化措辞,使用像 'the general tone' 或 'the default tone' 这样的说法,而不是重复前面的用词。
    • LRchildren start connecting learning with stressA plain verb choice ('connecting'). A higher band would likely use the more precise verb 'associating' or 'equating', which is the standard collocation for this kind of psychological link.一个朴素的动词选择('connecting')。更高分的答案更可能使用更精确的动词 'associating' 或 'equating',这是描述这种心理关联的标准搭配。
    • GRAit's good for children to learn to push through something a bit boring, because that builds patience for laterA because-clause explaining the point, plain and direct. A 7.5 answer would be more likely to insert a short parenthetical example, such as '— memorising times tables, say —', for a more flexible, conversational structure.一个用because从句来解释论点的写法,朴素而直接。7.5分答案更可能插入一个简短的插入语式例子,比如 '— memorising times tables, say —',以获得更灵活、更口语化的结构。
    7.0 分

The 7.0 answer upgrades 'connecting' to the more precise 'associating' and varies the closing wording to 'the general tone' rather than repeating 'most of the time' from the opening sentence.7.0分答案将 'connecting' 升级为更精确的 'associating',并把结尾的措辞变化为 'the general tone',而不是重复开头句的 'most of the time'。

Not always, no, though it should be enjoyable most of the time. Some subjects or skills require repetition and effort that isn't naturally fun, like memorising times tables, and I think there's value in children learning to push through something a little boring or difficult, since that builds patience for later life. That said, if school feels joyless most of the time, children start associating learning itself with stress, which can do real damage to their motivation. So I'd say the goal should be enjoyment as the general tone, with some tolerance for necessary, less exciting parts.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCSo I'd say the goal should be enjoyment as the general tone, with some tolerance for necessary, less exciting parts. The closing sentence deliberately varies its wording from the opening ('the general tone' rather than repeating 'most of the time'), avoiding the repetition the 6.5 answer falls into.结尾句刻意变化了与开头不同的措辞('the general tone',而不是重复 'most of the time'),避免了6.5分答案陷入的重复问题。
    • LRchildren start associating learning itself with stressThe verb 'associating' is the more precise, standard collocation for this idea, an upgrade on the plainer 'connecting' a 6.5 answer uses for the same link between learning and stress.动词 'associating' 是表达这个想法更精确、更标准的搭配,是对6.5分答案用于同样"学习与压力"关联的较为朴素的 'connecting' 的升级。
    • GRAthere's value in children learning to push through something a little boring or difficult, since that builds patience for later lifeA since-clause replaces the because-clause of the 6.5 answer, and the noun phrase 'value in children learning to' is a slightly more nominal, formal construction than the plainer 'it's good for children to learn to'.一个since从句替换了6.5分答案的because从句,而名词短语 'value in children learning to' 比更朴素的 'it's good for children to learn to' 是一个略微更名词化、更正式的结构。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer inserts the parenthetical 'memorising times tables, say' instead of a plain example clause, and uses the less common words 'tedious' and 'equating', closing with 'the default tone' and 'stretches' rather than the plainer repeated wording.7.5分答案插入了插入语式的 'memorising times tables, say',而不是一个朴素的例子分句,并使用了不太常见的词 'tedious' 和 'equating',以 'the default tone' 和 'stretches' 收尾,而不是更朴素的重复措辞。

Not always, no, though it ought to be enjoyable most of the time. Certain subjects or skills demand repetition and effort that isn't naturally fun — memorising times tables, say — and there's real value, I think, in children learning to push through something a little tedious, since that builds patience for later life. That said, if school feels joyless more often than not, children start equating learning itself with stress, which can do lasting damage to their motivation. So the goal, as I see it, should be enjoyment as the default tone, with some tolerance built in for the necessary, less exciting stretches.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCSo the goal, as I see it, should be enjoyment as the default tone, with some tolerance built in for the necessary, less exciting stretches. The inserted phrase 'as I see it' signals a personal, considered judgement rather than a flat restatement, and 'the default tone' avoids the repetition of earlier wording that the 6.5 answer's closing sentence falls into.插入的短语 'as I see it' 传达出一种个人化、经过思考的判断,而不是平淡的重述,而 'the default tone' 也避免了6.5分答案结尾句陷入的重复前面用词的问题。
    • LRchildren start equating learning itself with stress, which can do lasting damage to their motivationThe verb 'equating' and the phrase 'lasting damage' are more precise and slightly more formal than the plainer 'associating...with' and 'real damage' the 7.0 answer uses for the same idea.动词 'equating' 和短语 'lasting damage' 比7.0答案用于同样意思的较为朴素的 'associating...with' 和 'real damage' 更精确、略微更正式。

I'd say it's very important, maybe more important than salary in the long run. People spend most of their waking hours at work, so if they dread it every day, that unhappiness spreads into the rest of their life too. I really enjoy my job designing app interfaces, and I notice the difference — weeks with an interesting client project feel completely different from weeks of repetitive fixes, and my mood outside work changes with it. 为什么是这个分数

    • FCI really enjoy my job designing app interfaces, and I notice the differenceA plain statement followed by a simple 'and' clause, typical of the additive, one-idea-at-a-time style of a 6.5 answer. A 7.0 or 7.5 answer would more likely use 'genuinely' and fold the observation more tightly into the following sentence.一个朴素的陈述,后面跟着一个简单的 'and' 分句,是6.5分答案那种累加式、一次一个想法的典型风格。7.0或7.5分答案更可能使用 'genuinely',并把这个观察更紧密地并入下一句话。

What tends to matter more from there is recognition, a genuine sense of purpose, and simply getting along with colleagues. One of our senior designers, Huy, turned down a considerably higher-paying offer last year, purely because he preferred our team and the variety of projects we take on. So money sets the baseline, but past that point, it's really the working environment and the meaning behind the work that determines how positive people feel.

    • FCSo money sets the baseline, but past that point, it's really the working environment and the meaning behind the work that determines how positive people feel. The closing sentence uses the more precise verb 'determines' and the tighter phrase 'past that point' rather than the plainer 'beyond that' and 'shapes' the lower bands use for essentially the same final claim.结尾句使用了更精确的动词 'determines' 和更紧凑的短语 'past that point',而不是较低分版本对本质上相同的最终论断使用的较为朴素的 'beyond that' 和 'shapes'。
    • LRextra money seems to add diminishing returns to their day-to-day happiness at workThe economic term 'diminishing returns' is a genuinely less common, more precise collocation than the plain repetitive 'less and less' the 6.5 answer uses to describe the same pattern.经济学术语 'diminishing returns' 确实是一个比6.5分答案用来描述同一模式的朴素、重复的 'less and less' 更不常见、更精确的搭配。
    • GRAHuy, turned down a considerably higher-paying offer last year, purely because he preferred our team and the variety of projects we take onThe adverb 'purely' intensifies the because-clause more naturally than the plainer 'specifically because' or 'just because' the lower bands use for the same reason, a small but deliberate lexical-grammatical choice.副词 'purely' 比较低分版本用于同样理由的较为朴素的 'specifically because' 或 'just because' 更自然地强化了because从句,是一个虽小但刻意的词汇语法选择。
  6. 6. Should companies involve employees in all their decisions?

    6.5 分

The 6.5 answer gives a direct hedge ('not all, but more than now') and one plain studio example, using 'because' twice and 'but' to structure the contrast between decision types.6.5分答案给出了一个直接的缓和表达('not all, but more than now'),以及一个平实的工作室例子,用了两次 'because' 和一次 'but' 来构建不同决策类型之间的对比结构。

Not all decisions, but more than a lot of companies do now. Some decisions, like financial strategy or legal matters, need to stay with specialists or managers, because involving everyone would just slow things down. But decisions that affect daily work directly, like office layout or which tools the team uses, benefit a lot from employee input, because the people doing the work usually understand the practical problems better than managers do. At our studio, when the team was asked before switching to a new project management tool, it went much more smoothly than earlier changes that were just announced. So I think selective involvement works best, not full involvement.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCSo I think selective involvement works best, not full involvement.A short, plain closing sentence repeating 'involvement' twice. A 7.0 or 7.5 answer would more likely vary the second half, using a phrase like 'not blanket involvement' instead of repeating the same noun.一个简短、朴素的结尾句,重复使用了两次 'involvement'。7.0或7.5分答案更可能在后半句做出变化,使用类似 'not blanket involvement' 的短语,而不是重复同一个名词。
    • LRinvolving everyone would just slow things downA plain, everyday verb phrase ('slow things down'). A higher band would likely use the more vivid, informal idiom 'gum things up', which conveys the same idea with more colour.一个朴素、日常的动词短语('slow things down')。更高分的答案更可能使用更生动、更口语化的习语 'gum things up',用更有色彩的方式表达同样的意思。
    • GRAdecisions that affect daily work directly, like office layout or which tools the team uses, benefit a lot from employee inputA relative clause with an inserted example list, clear but fairly plain. A 7.5 answer would be more likely to use an em dash to set off the example list instead of embedding it with commas.一个带有插入例子列举的关系从句,清楚但相当朴素。7.5分答案更可能使用长破折号来标出例子列举,而不是用逗号把它嵌入句中。
    7.0 分

The 7.0 answer uses an em dash to set off the list of examples ('office layout, deadlines, or which tools the team uses') and adds the qualifying phrase 'without adding much value', a step beyond the plainer sentence a 6.5 answer gives.7.0分答案用长破折号标出了例子列举('office layout, deadlines, or which tools the team uses'),并加上了限定短语 'without adding much value',比6.5分答案给出的较为朴素的句子更进一步。

Not all decisions, but more than many companies currently do. Some decisions, like financial strategy or legal matters, genuinely need to stay with specialists or leadership, and involving everyone would just slow things down without adding much value. But decisions that directly affect daily work — things like office layout, deadlines, or which tools the team uses — benefit hugely from employee input, since the people doing the work usually understand the practical problems better than management does. At our studio, when the team was consulted before switching to a new project management tool, the transition went far more smoothly than earlier changes that were just announced. So selective involvement, not full involvement, seems to work best.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCand involving everyone would just slow things down without adding much valueThe added clause 'without adding much value' extends the reasoning a step further than the flat statement the 6.5 answer gives, showing a slightly more developed justification for the same point.加上的分句 'without adding much value',比6.5分答案给出的平淡陈述在论证上更进一步,显示出对同一观点略微更完整的论证。
    • LRdecisions that directly affect daily work — things like office layout, deadlines, or which tools the team uses — benefit hugely from employee inputThe adverb 'hugely' is a more emphatic, natural choice than the plain 'a lot' a 6.5 answer uses for the same idea of benefit.副词 'hugely' 比6.5分答案用于同样"获益"这一想法的朴素的 'a lot' 更有力、更自然。
    • GRAdecisions that directly affect daily work — things like office layout, deadlines, or which tools the team uses — benefit hugely from employee inputAn em dash sets off the example list from the rest of the sentence, a more visually organised structure than the plain comma-embedded list the 6.5 answer uses for the same examples.一个长破折号把例子列举从句子的其余部分中标出来,比6.5分答案用于同样例子的朴素的、用逗号嵌入的列举方式,在视觉上更有条理。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer uses the idiom 'gum things up' and the less common noun 'snags', closing with the varied phrase 'not blanket involvement' rather than repeating 'involvement' plainly as a 6.5 answer does.7.5分答案使用了习语 'gum things up' 和不太常见的名词 'snags',以变化后的短语 'not blanket involvement' 收尾,而不是像6.5分答案那样平实地重复 'involvement'。

Not all decisions, but rather more than most companies currently allow. Some calls — financial strategy, legal matters — genuinely need to stay with specialists or leadership, since involving everyone would just gum things up without adding much value. But decisions that touch daily work directly, things like office layout, deadlines or which tools the team relies on, benefit enormously from employee input, since the people actually doing the work usually understand the practical snags better than management ever does. At our studio, consulting the team before switching to a new project management tool made the whole transition go far more smoothly than earlier changes that were simply announced from above. So selective involvement, not blanket involvement, seems to work best.

The arts give people a way to express emotions that are hard to say directly, which I think is genuinely therapeutic. Music works fast especially — putting on an upbeat playlist while I'm sketching ideas in the morning noticeably lifts my mood before I've even had coffee. Books and films offer something a bit different, a feeling of connection, because seeing a character go through something similar to your own life can be comforting, almost like realising you're not alone. The arts also just give a pleasant break from daily stress. None of this fixes real problems directly, but it does seem to build emotional strength over time.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCThe arts also just give a pleasant break from daily stress.A plain, short sentence added with 'also just', a very direct way of tacking on another point. A 7.0 or 7.5 answer would more likely extend this into a fuller sentence describing what the mind gets from that break.一个用 'also just' 添加上去的朴素短句,是一种非常直接的方式来附加另一个观点。7.0或7.5分答案更可能把它扩展成一个更完整的句子,描述心智从那段喘息中得到了什么。

I think they often do, at least indirectly. Positive people are usually easier to work and cooperate with, which makes group projects and everyday interactions go more smoothly. At work, we have a project manager, Phương, who stays calm and upbeat even during tight deadlines, and it clearly changes how the rest of the team handles pressure — people panic less around her. Being positive can also spread to others, encouraging them to help out rather than withdraw. That said, contribution isn't only about attitude — skill and effort matter just as much, so a positive but passive person wouldn't necessarily contribute more than a hardworking neutral one.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCBeing positive can also spread to others, encouraging them to help out rather than withdraw.A plain statement using the basic verb 'spread'. Probably somewhat, yes, though I don't think attitude alone can fix bigger problems like poverty or inequality. If people had a more positive attitude generally, communities might become more supportive and quicker to let go of small conflicts, which would improve everyday life. But there's also a risk in focusing too much on positivity — people going through real hardship can end up feeling pressured to hide their problems behind a cheerful face, which isn't healthy either.

    • FCBut there's also a risk in focusing too much on positivityA plain, direct transition into the risk using 'But...also'. A 7.0 or 7.5 answer would more likely use 'though' placed later in the sentence, tying the risk more closely to the point just made rather than starting a fresh sentence with 'But'.一个用 'But...also' 直接引出风险的朴素过渡。7.0或7.5分答案更可能使用放在句子后面的 'though',把风险和刚刚提出的观点更紧密地联系起来,而不是用 'But' 另起一句。
    • LRpeople going through real hardship can end up feeling pressured to hide their problems behind a cheerful faceA plain verb choice ('hide'). A higher band would likely use the more precise, slightly more formal verb 'mask', which is a more exact match for this kind of concealment.一个朴素的动词选择('hide')。更高分的答案更可能使用更精确、略微更正式的动词 'mask',这与这种"掩饰"更精确地匹配。
    • GRAIf people had a more positive attitude generally, communities might become more supportive and quicker to let go of small conflicts, which would improve everyday lifeA single if-clause with a following relative clause, clear but fairly standard. A 7.5 answer would be more likely to use 'outlook' as a more precise noun than the plainer 'attitude' repeated in the same slot.一个单独的if从句,后面跟着一个关系从句,清楚但相当标准。7.5分答案更可能使用 'outlook' 作为一个更精确的名词,而不是在同一位置重复使用较为朴素的 'attitude'。
    7.0 分

The 7.0 answer specifies 'deeper structural problems' rather than the plainer 'bigger problems', and uses the more precise noun phrase 'a moderate shift towards positivity, paired with honesty' for the closing recommendation.7.0分答案明确指出了 'deeper structural problems',而不是较为朴素的 'bigger problems',并在结尾建议中使用了更精确的名词短语 'a moderate shift towards positivity, paired with honesty'。

Probably somewhat, yes, though I don't think attitude alone can fix deeper structural problems like poverty or inequality. A more positive collective attitude might make communities more supportive and less quick to conflict over small things, which would improve everyday quality of life. But there's a risk in overemphasising positivity too — people going through genuine hardship can end up feeling pressured to hide real problems behind a cheerful front, which isn't healthy either. So I'd say a moderate shift towards positivity, paired with honesty about real difficulties, would probably make society happier overall, rather than positivity as some kind of universal fix on its own.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCthough I don't think attitude alone can fix deeper structural problems like poverty or inequalityPlacing 'though' inside the opening sentence rather than starting a new sentence with 'But' ties the caveat more closely to the main claim, a slightly more fluent way of managing the concession than the 6.5 pattern.把 'though' 放在开头句子内部,而不是用 'But' 另起一句,把但书和主要论断联系得更紧密,是一种比6.5版本的模式略微更流畅的方式来处理让步。
    • LRdeeper structural problems like poverty or inequalityThe adjective 'structural' is a more precise, slightly more formal term than the plain 'bigger' a 6.5 answer uses to describe the same kind of problems.形容词 'structural' 比6.5分答案用来描述同类问题的朴素的 'bigger' 更精确、略微更正式。
    • GRASo I'd say a moderate shift towards positivity, paired with honesty about real difficulties, would probably make society happier overallA participial phrase ('paired with honesty about real difficulties') is inserted into the main clause, a more compact construction than the 'along with' prepositional phrase the 6.5 answer uses for the same combination of ideas.一个分词短语('paired with honesty about real difficulties')被插入到主句中,比6.5分答案用于同样想法组合的 'along with' 介词短语更紧凑。

In my experience, young children feel happy when they get attention and have a chance to play or explore. Last summer, my cousin's daughter An, who is about five, visited Da Nang, and we took her to Sun World near Ba Na Hills. She was very happy all day, not because of the rides, but because we let her choose what to try. She looked especially excited when my aunt clapped for her on the carousel. So I think it's not about things, but about being noticed and encouraged.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCShe looked especially excited when my aunt clapped for her on the carouselA plain report of the moment. 7.0 adds 'I noticed' to frame it as a personal observation, and 7.5 intensifies the verb pairing to 'clapped and cheered', both adding a layer this flatter version lacks.一个朴素的、对当时情景的陈述。7.0版本加上了 'I noticed' 把它框定为个人的观察,而7.5版本则把动词强化为 'clapped and cheered' 这个搭配,两者都增添了这个较为平淡的版本所没有的层次。
    • LRSo I think it's not about things, but about being noticed and encouragedA simple two-part contrast. 7.0 and 7.5 both extend the same idea to a three-part list ('noticed, encouraged, and given the freedom to explore'), which is more developed than this shorter version.一个简单的两部分对比。7.0和7.5版本都把同样的想法扩展为三部分列举('noticed, encouraged, and given the freedom to explore'),比这个较短的版本更完整。
    • GRAShe was very happy all day, not because of the rides, but because we let her choose what to try.A plain 'not X but Y' sentence. 7.5 intensifies this with the idiom 'beaming the whole day' and adds a dash before the contrast, a more flexible structure than this straightforward version.一个朴素的 'not X but Y' 句。7.5版本用习语 'beaming the whole day' 做了强化,并在对比之前加上了破折号,比这个直白的版本结构更灵活。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCI noticed she was especially delighted when my aunt cheered for her on the little carouselAdds the personal frame 'I noticed', which 6.5's version skips entirely. 7.5 keeps a very similar structure but adds a second verb ('clapped and cheered'), intensifying the moment further.加上了个人化的框架 'I noticed',这是6.5版本完全没有的。7.5版本保留了非常相似的结构,但加上了第二个动词('clapped and cheered'),进一步强化了这个瞬间。
    • LRbeing noticed and given the freedom to exploreA fuller three-part idea than 6.5's shorter 'being noticed and encouraged'. 7.5 extends this even further with 'with people who genuinely care about them', adding another layer this version doesn't reach.比6.5版本较短的 'being noticed and encouraged' 更完整的三部分想法。7.5版本用 'with people who genuinely care about them' 进一步延伸,增添了这个版本没有达到的另一层意思。
    • GRAShe was beaming the whole day, not really because of the rides, but because we let her lead the way and choose what she wanted to try.The idiom 'beaming the whole day' replaces 6.5's plain 'very happy all day'. 7.5 keeps a nearly identical structure but adds a dash before the contrast, giving the sentence slightly more rhythm.习语 'beaming the whole day' 替换了6.5版本朴素的 'very happy all day'。7.5版本保留了几乎相同的结构,但在对比前加上了破折号,让句子的节奏感略微更强一些。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCclapped and cheered for her on the little carouselTwo verbs instead of 7.0's single 'cheered', giving the moment more physical vividness and matching the enthusiasm being described.用了两个动词,而不是7.0版本单一的 'cheered',让这个瞬间在肢体动作上更生动,也更贴合所描述的那种热情。
    • LRbeing noticed, encouraged, and given the freedom to explore with people who genuinely care about themA fully developed three-part list ending in an extra qualifying clause, compared to 7.0's two-part version and 6.5's simplest two-word pairing, showing the idea growing in stages across the bands.一个完整发展的三部分列举,末尾还带有一个额外的限定从句,相比之下7.0版本是两部分,6.5版本则是最简单的两词搭配,显示出这个想法在各分数段之间是逐步生长的。

Yes, I think good teachers can usually tell when a child is unhappy, especially if they know their students well. My friend Trang teaches fourth grade near Marble Mountains, and she once told me about a quiet boy in her class, Duy, who suddenly stopped joining group activities and barely spoke. At first she thought he was just shy, but she noticed he wasn't eating his lunch and always looked tired, so she asked him if something was wrong. It turned out he was having trouble at home. I think one of the most effective things teachers can do is build a genuinely relaxed, supportive classroom rather than a purely results-driven one. I still remember my grade-six English teacher, Ms. Phuong, letting us decorate a corner of the classroom with our own drawings and a few small plants. It sounds like a minor gesture, but having that space made everyone noticeably more comfortable and broke up the monotony of the usual routine. It also signalled that she valued our personalities, not merely our test scores. Of course, teachers still have to balance fun against keeping lessons on track, but small touches like that can quietly transform how happy children feel about coming to school at all.

    • FCrather than a purely results-driven oneAn added contrast that neither lower band includes, framing the recommendation against an implied alternative and giving the opening claim more argumentative weight.一个两个较低分版本都没有的附加对比,把这条建议放在一个隐含的替代方案的对立面来构建,让开头的论断更具论辩分量。
    • LRbroke up the monotony of the usual routineThe noun 'monotony' is more precise and evaluative than 6.5 and 7.0's shared plainer phrase 'broke up the usual routine', naming exactly what is being relieved.名词 'monotony' 比6.5和7.0版本共用的较为朴素的短语 'broke up the usual routine' 更精确、更带有评价色彩,明确点出了被缓解的到底是什么。
    • GRAsmall touches like that can quietly transform how happy children feel about coming to school at allThe stronger verb 'transform' plus the adverb 'quietly' and the intensifying tail 'at all' make this a more emphatic closing claim than 7.0's more modest 'can make a real difference to how happy kids feel'.更强烈的动词 'transform',加上副词 'quietly' 和强调性的收尾 'at all',让这个结尾论断比7.0版本较为克制的 'can make a real difference to how happy kids feel' 更有力度。

The closing comparison ('academic success matters too, but... friendships matter even more') is stated as a simple direct comparison, without the more idiomatic 'count for even more' phrasing of the higher bands.结尾的比较('academic success matters too, but... friendships matter even more')以一种简单直接的比较方式呈现,没有用到更高分版本那种更地道的 'count for even more' 表达。

I think what really makes a student happy at school is feeling included and supported by classmates and teachers. When I was in high school in Hue, my classmate Khánh transferred from another province and seemed a bit lost at first. Our math teacher, Ms. Ha, paired him with me for a project, and we started inviting him to our after-school football games. Slowly he began laughing more, joining study sessions, and even sharing his homemade bánh bèo at lunch. I could see how those small gestures, like being invited in, made a big difference. Academic success matters too, but I think real friendships matter even more for happiness.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCmade a big differenceA common, general phrase. 7.5 replaces it with the more original 'made a difference disproportionate to their size', a more precise and unusual way of saying the small gesture mattered more than its scale suggested.一个常见、笼统的短语。7.5版本将其替换为更有新意的 'made a difference disproportionate to their size',用一种更精确、更不落俗套的方式表达小举动的影响力超出了其本身的规模。
    • LRreal friendships matter even more for happinessA plain comparative claim. 7.0 and 7.5 both replace this with 'those meaningful connections seem even more important' / 'seem to count for even more', a slightly more formal and precise way of closing the same thought.一个朴素的比较性论断。7.0和7.5版本都用 'those meaningful connections seem even more important' / 'seem to count for even more' 来替换,以一种略微更正式、更精确的方式来收束同样的想法。
    • GRASlowly he began laughing more, joining study sessions, and even sharing his homemade bánh bèo at lunch.A simple list of three parallel verb phrases. 7.0 adds the adverb 'group' before 'study sessions' for precision, and 7.5 keeps the list but tightens the surrounding sentences, showing a gradual refinement rather than a structural change.一个由三个并列动词短语构成的简单列举。7.0版本在 'study sessions' 前加上了形容词 'group' 以求精确,而7.5版本保留了这个列举,但收紧了周围的句子,显示出的是逐步打磨,而不是结构上的改变。

The hedge 'honestly' before the closing claim, plus the fuller list 'being invited in and finding real friends', give this a more considered, spoken feel than 6.5's flatter statement.结尾论断前的缓和语气 'honestly',加上更完整的列举 'being invited in and finding real friends',让这段文字比6.5版本更平淡的陈述多了一份经过思考、接近口语的感觉。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCfolding him into our after-school football games almost by accidentA more vivid, idiomatic verb phrase ('folding him into') than 7.0's plainer 'inviting him to join', with 'almost by accident' adding a nuance of casualness the other bands don't capture.比7.0版本较为朴素的 'inviting him to join' 更生动、更地道的动词短语('folding him into'),'almost by accident' 又增添了其他分数段没有捕捉到的那种随意感。

The two ideas 'reduce competition' and 'why it matters' are given as separate simple sentences rather than joined by the causal 'because' clause the higher bands use."减少竞争"和"为什么这很重要"这两个想法,是以独立的简单句形式呈现的,而不是像更高分版本那样用因果性的 'because' 从句连接起来。

Yes, I think it is partly a teacher's responsibility to manage how much students compete with each other. Too much competition can make school feel stressful instead of supportive. When I was in grade eleven in Hue, my literature teacher, Ms. Ha, noticed some of us were becoming obsessed with our class rankings. She started pairing top students with those who struggled more, not just for group projects but for small daily tasks too. This changed the mood in class a lot, and we ended up helping each other instead of comparing test scores all the time. A little friendly rivalry can be motivating, but teachers should step in if it becomes unhealthy.

    • FCThis changed the mood in class a lotA vague intensifier ('a lot'). 7.0 and 7.5 both replace it with 'changed the mood in class considerably', a more precise and slightly more formal adverb.一个模糊的强调词('a lot')。7.0和7.5版本都将其替换为 'changed the mood in class considerably',这是一个更精确、略微更正式的副词。
    • LRToo much competition can make school feel stressful instead of supportive.A separate simple sentence. 7.0 and 7.5 both fold this same idea into the opening sentence using a 'because'/'since' clause, a more economical way of connecting the opinion to its reason.一个独立的简单句。7.0和7.5版本都用 'because'/'since' 从句,把同样的想法并入了开头的句子,以一种更简洁的方式将观点和理由联系起来。
    • GRAwe ended up helping each other instead of comparing test scores all the timeA plain coordinated clause. 7.0 and 7.5 both tighten this to 'instead of constantly/endlessly comparing test scores', moving the adverb earlier for a more natural rhythm than this version's trailing 'all the time'.一个朴素的并列分句。7.0和7.5版本都把它收紧为 'instead of constantly/endlessly comparing test scores',把副词提前,比这个版本末尾的 'all the time' 节奏更自然。

Yes, I'd argue it's partly a teacher's responsibility to manage how much students compete with one another, since unchecked competition can turn school stressful rather than supportive. When I was in grade eleven in Hue, my literature teacher, Ms. Ha, noticed that some of us had become fairly obsessed with our class rankings. Yes, I definitely think it's important to stay interested in your work, especially if you want to be happy and productive. As a UI designer, I notice a big difference when I'm genuinely curious about a project. Last year my team worked on a mental health app for overseas clients, and I found myself reading about colour psychology late at night, just because I wanted to get it right. Of course, not every task is exciting, and I still have to do repetitive layout work sometimes, but staying engaged really helps me enjoy my job.

    • FCjust because I wanted to get it rightA plain, direct reason. 7.0 and 7.5 both upgrade this to 'purely because I was so invested in getting it right', which is a more idiomatic and emphatic way of expressing the same motivation.一个朴素、直接的理由。7.0和7.5版本都将其升级为 'purely because I was so invested in getting it right',这是一种更地道、更有力的方式来表达同样的动机。
    • LRI still have to do repetitive layout work sometimesA neutral verb phrase. 7.5 replaces this with the more vivid, slightly self-deprecating 'I still grind through repetitive layout tweaks now and then', which conveys effort more than this plain version does.一个中性的动词短语。7.5版本将其替换为更生动、略带自嘲色彩的 'I still grind through repetitive layout tweaks now and then',比这个朴素的版本更能传达出那种努力的感觉。
    • GRAIt made the long hours feel meaningful instead of just tiring.A simple 'instead of' contrast. 7.5 restructures this with 'rather than simply exhausting', a slightly more formal connector than 'instead of' plus a stronger adjective than 'tiring'.一个简单的 'instead of' 对比。7.5版本用 'rather than simply exhausting' 重新组织了这句话,这是一个比 'instead of' 略微更正式的连接词,再加上比 'tiring' 更强烈的形容词。

The dash-set aside about repetitive layout tweaks lets the concession sit inside the sentence, a more integrated structure than 6.5's separate clause joined by 'and'.用破折号标出的关于重复排版调整的插入语,让这个让步内容嵌在句子内部,比6.5版本用 'and' 连接的独立分句结构更为整合。

Yes, I definitely think it's important to stay interested in your work, especially if you want to be happy and productive over the long run. From my own experience as a UI designer, I notice a big difference when I'm genuinely curious about a project. Last year, for instance, my team was working on a mental health app for overseas clients, and I found myself reading articles about colour psychology late at night, purely because I was so invested in getting it right. It made the long hours feel meaningful rather than just tiring. Of course, not every task is exciting — I still have to do repetitive layout tweaks sometimes — but overall, staying engaged really helps me enjoy my job and do better work.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCpurely because I was so invested in getting it rightMore idiomatic and emphatic than 6.5's plain 'just because I wanted to get it right'. 7.5 keeps this phrase almost unchanged, showing it was already well-pitched at 7.0.比6.5版本朴素的 'just because I wanted to get it right' 更地道、更有力。7.5版本几乎原封不动地保留了这个短语,说明这在7.0阶段就已经拿捏得很到位了。
    • LRI still have to do repetitive layout tweaks sometimesThe noun 'tweaks' is slightly more precise than 6.5's general 'layout work'. 7.5 intensifies the verb further to 'grind through', a more vivid choice than this still fairly neutral 7.0 phrasing.名词 'tweaks' 比6.5版本泛泛的 'layout work' 略微更精确。7.5版本进一步把动词强化为 'grind through',比这个仍然相当中性的7.0措辞更生动。
    • GRAnot every task is exciting — I still have to do repetitive layout tweaks sometimes — but overall, staying engaged really helps me enjoy my job and do better workDashes insert the concession mid-sentence, a more integrated structure than 6.5's version, which places a similar idea in a separate coordinated clause after 'and'.用破折号在句子中间插入了让步内容,比6.5版本更为整合——那个版本把类似的想法放在 'and' 之后的独立并列分句里。
    7.5 分

The verb 'grind through' for the repetitive tasks is a vivid, idiomatic choice that captures effort in a way the plainer verbs in the lower bands don't.用来描述重复性任务的动词 'grind through' 是一个生动、地道的选择,以一种较低分版本更朴素的动词无法做到的方式捕捉到了那种努力感。

Yes, I'd say it's genuinely important to stay interested in your work, particularly if you want to be happy and productive over the long haul. From my own experience as a UI designer, I notice a marked difference when I'm authentically curious about a project. Last year, for instance, my team was building a mental health app for overseas clients, and I found myself reading articles about colour psychology late into the night, purely because I was so invested in getting it right. It made the long hours feel meaningful rather than simply exhausting. Of course, not every task is thrilling — I still grind through repetitive layout tweaks now and then — but on the whole, staying engaged is what keeps me enjoying the job and doing sharper work.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCI notice a marked difference when I'm authentically curious about a projectThe adjectives 'marked' and 'authentically' are more precise than 7.0's plainer 'a big difference when I'm genuinely curious', sharpening both the degree and the quality being described.形容词 'marked' 和 'authentically' 比7.0版本较为朴素的 'a big difference when I'm genuinely curious' 更精确,让所描述的程度和性质都更加清晰。
    • LRI still grind through repetitive layout tweaks now and thenThe verb 'grind through' is more vivid and idiomatic than 7.0's neutral 'I still have to do... tweaks sometimes', conveying real effort rather than a simple fact.动词 'grind through' 比7.0版本中性的 'I still have to do... tweaks sometimes' 更生动、更地道,传达出的是真实的努力,而不仅仅是一个简单的事实。
    • GRAstaying engaged is what keeps me enjoying the job and doing sharper workA cleft-like construction ('what keeps me...') replaces 7.0's simpler 'staying engaged really helps me enjoy my job and do better work', and 'sharper' is a more precise adjective than 'better'.一个类似强调句的结构('what keeps me...')替换了7.0版本更简单的 'staying engaged really helps me enjoy my job and do better work',而 'sharper' 也比 'better' 是一个更精确的形容词。

I don't think higher salaries can fix every problem people have at work. More money definitely helps with things like rent or family expenses, but it doesn't make a stressful environment or bad management disappear. Last year, my colleague Minh got a generous raise after working late nights on a big app launch. At first he was thrilled, but after a few months he started feeling worn out because our team leader kept giving him extra tasks and never gave much feedback. He told me he was thinking about finding a different job where he'd feel more valued. I think feeling respected and having a reasonable workload matter just as much as salary.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCI think feeling respected and having a reasonable workload matter just as much as salary.A plain closing claim. 7.0 and 7.5 both extend this with an added concession, 'if not more', which pushes the claim further than this flatter version does.一个朴素的结尾论断。7.0和7.5版本都用附加的让步 'if not more' 来扩展这句话,把论断推得比这个更平淡的版本更远。
    • LRkept giving him extra tasks and never gave much feedbackA plain coordinated description. 7.0 and 7.5 both upgrade the verb to 'piling on extra tasks', a more vivid, idiomatic phrase than the neutral 'giving' used here.一个朴素的并列描述。7.0和7.5版本都把动词升级为 'piling on extra tasks',比这里使用的中性的 'giving' 更生动、更地道。
    • GRAHe told me he was thinking about finding a different job where he'd feel more valued.A simple reported-speech sentence. 7.0 and 7.5 both add the specific detail 'over lunch' and the concessive phrase 'despite the bigger paycheck', giving the same content more context and contrast than this plainer version.一个简单的转述句。7.0和7.5版本都加上了具体细节 'over lunch' 和让步短语 'despite the bigger paycheck',比这个更朴素的版本给同样的内容增添了更多语境和对比。

I don't think higher salaries can fix every issue people have at work. More money certainly helps with immediate concerns, like paying rent or supporting family, but it doesn't make stressful environments or poor management magically disappear. For example, last year my colleague Minh got a pretty generous raise after working late nights on a big app launch. At first he was thrilled, but after a few months he started feeling worn out because our team leader kept piling on extra tasks and rarely gave feedback. He told me over lunch that, despite the bigger paycheck, he was considering looking for a different job where he'd feel more valued. 为什么是这个分数

    • FCmatter just as much as salary, if not moreAdds a concessive tail ('if not more') that 6.5's version lacks entirely, pushing the claim beyond simple equivalence. 7.5 keeps a very similar structure, replacing 'more' with 'considerably more' for extra emphasis.加上了6.5版本完全没有的让步收尾('if not more'),把论断推向了超越简单等同的层面。7.5版本保留了非常相似的结构,用 'considerably more' 替换了 'more',以做进一步的强调。
    • LRkept piling on extra tasksA more vivid, idiomatic verb phrase than 6.5's plain 'kept giving him extra tasks'. 7.5 keeps this exact phrase, showing it was already a strong choice at 7.0.一个比6.5版本朴素的 'kept giving him extra tasks' 更生动、更地道的动词短语。7.5版本保留了完全相同的短语,说明这在7.0阶段就已经是一个有力的选择。
    • GRAHe told me over lunch that, despite the bigger paycheck, he was considering looking for a different job where he'd feel more valued.Inserts a concessive clause ('despite the bigger paycheck') between the reporting verb and the main content, more layered than 6.5's straighter reported sentence. 7.5 keeps a similar structure with the verb 'admitted' in place of 'told'.在转述动词和主要内容之间插入了一个让步分句('despite the bigger paycheck'),比6.5版本更直白的转述句更有层次。7.5版本保留了类似的结构,用动词 'admitted' 代替了 'told'。

I don't think higher salaries can fix every problem people run into at work. More money obviously helps with immediate pressures, like rent or supporting family, but it doesn't make a stressful environment or poor management simply evaporate. Last year, for instance, my colleague Minh landed a fairly generous raise after grinding through late nights on a big app launch. He was thrilled at first, but within a few months he'd grown visibly worn out, because our team leader kept piling on extra tasks and rarely offered any feedback in return. He admitted over lunch that, despite the bigger paycheck, he was seriously weighing a move to somewhere he'd feel more valued. Honestly, I suspect feeling respected and carrying a reasonable workload matter just as much as salary, if not considerably more.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCmatter just as much as salary, if not considerably moreIntensifies 7.0's 'if not more' with the added adverb 'considerably', making the final claim even stronger than the already-concessive 7.0 version.在7.0版本的 'if not more' 基础上加上了副词 'considerably' 做进一步强化,让最后的论断比已经带有让步色彩的7.0版本更加有力。
    • LRit doesn't make a stressful environment or poor management simply evaporateThe verb 'evaporate' is more vivid and unusual than 7.0's 'magically disappear' and 6.5's plain 'disappear', giving the sentence a more distinctive, image-driven quality.动词 'evaporate' 比7.0版本的 'magically disappear' 和6.5版本朴素的 'disappear' 更生动、更不落俗套,让这句话有了更独特、更富画面感的特质。
    • GRAhe'd grown visibly worn out, because our team leader kept piling on extra tasks and rarely offered any feedback in returnThe phrase 'in return' at the end adds an implicit comparison (extra tasks given, feedback not given back) that neither lower band's version makes explicit, a subtler piece of sentence construction.结尾处的短语 'in return' 增添了一层隐含的对比(额外任务被交付,反馈却没有被回馈),这是两个较低分版本都没有明确表达出来的,是一种更为微妙的句子构造。

Personally, I don't think earning money should be the ultimate goal of work, even though it's obviously important. My friend Thao works as a primary school teacher in Da Nang. She could earn more if she moved to a private language centre, but she genuinely loves helping kids learn. Last month I visited her class and saw how excited she was when her students finally understood a tricky maths problem. She said moments like that made her feel truly happy, much more than any bonus would.
