The answer states the film's details and effect in plain, direct sentences ('It's a simple film, but it stayed with me for a long time') with points simply added using 'also.'这段回答用简单直接的句子说明了电影的细节和感受('这是一部简单的电影,但它在我心里留了很久'),各个要点只是简单地用'另外'来连接添加。

A film I really enjoyed was a Vietnamese film called Mắt Biếc, which I watched at CGV cinema in Vincom Mall in Da Nang.

I saw it with my younger sister, who was visiting from Ho Chi Minh City for a few days. We didn't have a specific plan for the evening, so we decided to watch whatever was showing, and she picked this one because she had read the original book.

The film is about a young man who loves the same woman his whole life, from childhood until they are both adults, even though she never really loves him back in the same way. It moves between the countryside where they grew up and the city where they later live separate lives.

Why I enjoyed it is that it reminded me a lot of Hue, where I grew up, with the old houses, the rivers, and the slow pace of life in the countryside scenes. The story is quite sad, and by the end both my sister and I were crying a little in the cinema, which felt a bit embarrassing but also nice to share with her. It also made us talk about our own childhood in Hue on the way home, which we don't usually do. It's a simple film, but it stayed with me for a long time.

  • LRA film I really enjoyed was a Vietnamese film called Mắt Biếc, which I watched at CGV cinema in Vincom Mall in Da Nang. The opening sentence states the film's title, genre, and viewing location factually, using simple vocabulary and a basic relative clause purely to add the cinema location, with no evaluative or descriptive language yet. That plain, fact-delivering opening is characteristic Band 6.5 vocabulary, informative, but neutral in tone until later in the answer.开篇句以陈述事实的方式点出电影片名、类型和观影地点,用词简单,加了一个基础定语从句仅仅是为了补充影院位置,还没有出现任何评价性或描述性语言。这种平实、以陈述事实为主的开场,是典型的 Band 6.5 词汇水平——信息量足够,但语气中性,直到答案后面才有变化。
  • FCIt also made us talk about our own childhood in Hue on the way home, which we don't usually do.The additional point about the film prompting a conversation about their own childhood is introduced with the simple connector "also", tacking it on as one more fact rather than developing why that conversation mattered. That kind of straightforward, connector-led addition, without further elaboration, is a typical Band 6.5 linking strategy, the ideas are connected, but only loosely.关于这部电影引发了一段关于他们自己童年的对话这一补充观点,是用简单连接词"also"带出来的,只是把它当作又一个事实附加上去,而没有展开说明那段对话为什么重要。这种直白、靠连接词带出、不作进一步阐述的添加方式,是典型的 Band 6.5 连接策略——各个想法之间是有联系的,但联系比较松散。
  • GRAIt's a simple film, but it stayed with me for a long time."It's a simple film, but it stayed with me for a long time" is a short sentence joined by a single "but", correct and clear but structurally as basic as a complex sentence gets. That minimal, coordinated closing is the Band 6.5 grammar ceiling, it wraps up the answer accurately without attempting any more ambitious structure.“It's a simple film, but it stayed with me for a long time”是一个用一个"but"连接起来的短句,正确清楚,但在结构上几乎是复杂句能有的最基础形式了。这种极简的并列式收尾,正是 Band 6.5 语法的天花板——它准确地收束了答案,但没有尝试任何更有野心的结构。
7.0 分

The answer links the film's structure and the shared emotional reaction with comfortable complex sentences and paired contrasting adjectives ('embarrassing... strangely nice'), staying fluent without unusual vocabulary.这段回答用自然的复杂句以及一对形成对比的形容词('不好意思……莫名地温馨'),把电影结构和两人共同的情感反应联系了起来,语言流畅,用词也不特别。

A film I really enjoyed watching was a Vietnamese film called Mắt Biếc, which I saw at a CGV cinema in one of the malls in Da Nang, not too long after it came out.

I went with my younger sister, who happened to be visiting from Ho Chi Minh City for a few days. We didn't really plan the evening in advance — we just checked what was showing and picked this one, mainly because she'd already read the original novel and wanted to see how it compared.

The film follows a young man who's in love with the same woman for practically his whole life, from childhood right through adulthood, even though she never quite feels the same way about him. It shifts back and forth between the countryside where they grew up and the city, where they end up living fairly separate lives.

The reason I enjoyed it so much is that it reminded me a lot of Hue, where I'm originally from — the old houses, the river, the generally slower pace of life in the countryside scenes felt very familiar. The story itself is quite sad, and by the end my sister and I were both a bit teary in the cinema, which felt slightly embarrassing at the time but also strangely nice to share with her. Afterwards, on the way home, we ended up talking about our own childhood in Hue in a way we don't usually get around to, which was probably the best part of the evening. It's not a flashy or complicated film, but it's stayed with me longer than most things I've watched recently.

  • GRAWe didn't really plan the evening in advance — we just checked what was showing and picked this one, mainly because she'd already read the original novelA dash introduces an elaborating clause ("we just checked what was showing and picked this one"), itself extended by a because-clause giving the specific reason (the sister had read the novel) -- three ideas chained together accurately in one breath, the "comfortable mix of simple and complex sentences" the Band 7.0 grammar target describes, without the more deliberate rhetorical shaping a 7.5 answer might use. It also naturally explains why this particular film was chosen rather than just stating that a film was picked.一个破折号引出一个补充说明的从句("we just checked what was showing and picked this one"),这个从句本身又被一个because从句进一步扩展,给出具体原因(姐姐读过那本小说)——三个想法在同一口气里准确地串联起来,正是Band 7.0语法标准所描述的"简单句与复合句的自如结合",没有Band 7.5答案可能采用的那种更刻意的修辞加工。这句话也自然地解释了为什么会选这部特定的电影,而不只是陈述选了一部电影这个事实。
  • FCIt shifts back and forth between the countryside where they grew up and the city, where they end up living fairly separate livesTwo relative clauses ("where they grew up," "where they end up living...") attach concrete detail to "countryside" and "city" respectively, letting the sentence summarize the film's structure and its emotional outcome (separate lives) in one continuous flow rather than a list of separate facts. This is the reason-plus-concrete-detail development the Band 7.0 fluency and coherence target rewards, moving the plot summary forward efficiently instead of stalling on description.两个关系从句("where they grew up,""where they end up living...")分别给"countryside"和"city"添加了具体细节,让这句话能在一个连贯的流程里同时概括电影的结构和情感结局(各自过着分开的生活),而不是罗列一堆孤立的事实。这正是Band 7.0流利度与连贯性标准所奖励的"理由加具体细节"式发展,让情节概述高效推进,而不是停滞在描述层面。
  • LRwhich felt slightly embarrassing at the time but also strangely nice to share with herPairing two contrasting emotional adjectives, "embarrassing" and "strangely nice," each hedged with an intensifier ("slightly," "strangely"), shows more nuanced emotional vocabulary than a single flat word like "emotional" would -- the flexible, topic-specific vocabulary the Band 7.0 lexical target wants, capturing a genuinely mixed feeling rather than a simple one. It also mirrors the real ambivalence of crying in public with a sibling, which the surrounding context describes directly.
  • FCIt's not a flashy or complicated film, but it's stayed with me longer than most things I've watched recently. The "not X, but Y" contrastive frame sets a negative expectation (flashy, complicated) against the actual outcome (staying power), turning a simple recommendation into a small reflective judgment about the film's lasting effect -- exactly the reason-and-reflection close the Band 7.0 fluency and coherence target wants, rather than a flat "I really liked it." A 6.5 closing would likely just restate liking the film without this comparative framing."not X, but Y"这一对比框架把一个负面的预期(浮夸、复杂)与实际结果(经久不衰的影响力)并置,把一句简单的推荐变成了对影片持久影响的一次小小的反思式评判——这正是Band 7.0流利度与连贯性标准所期待的"理由加反思"式收尾,而不是一句平淡的"I really liked it"。Band 6.5的结尾很可能只是重复说喜欢这部电影,而不会用这种比较性的框架。

The answer is carried by a witty, self-correcting aside about fish-sauce popcorn and an embedded appositive describing the film's key scene, closing on the understated 'made it one of my better Saturdays.'这段回答靠一句机智、带自我纠正意味的插话(关于鱼露味爆米花)来推进,还嵌入了一个描述电影关键场景的同位语,最后以一句含蓄的话收尾——'让那成了我印象最好的一个周六。'

A film I really enjoyed was Everything Everywhere All at Once. I didn't see it at the cinema — I saw it on the wall of my colleague Trang's apartment, on a rainy Saturday last year, with four of us from the studio squeezed onto a sofa built for two. Trang has a cheap projector and a white wall and takes film nights very seriously; she'd even made popcorn with fish sauce, which sounds terrible and wasn't.

The film is about a middle-aged woman who runs a laundromat and is drowning in tax problems and family arguments, and then finds out she can jump between parallel versions of her own life — versions where she's a film star, a chef, a woman with hot dogs for fingers. It's completely chaotic on the surface. But underneath all that noise it's really about her relationship with her daughter, and about the moment a parent decides to actually see their child rather than the version they wanted.

Why I enjoyed it so much is a bit personal. My relationship with my mum has had a version of that argument — she wanted me to study medicine, I chose design — and there's a scene near the end, two rocks sitting on a cliff with subtitles, that had all four of us silent. Nobody expected to cry at a film with a raccoon chef in it.

As a designer I also loved the sheer inventiveness. Every universe has its own colours and rhythm, and the editing is so fast you feel it in your chest. It's the rare film that's genuinely fun and genuinely about something, and watching it with people I like, in a room that smelled of fish-sauce popcorn, made it one of my better Saturdays.

  • LRTrang has a cheap projector and a white wall and takes film nights very seriously; she'd even made popcorn with fish sauce, which sounds terrible and wasn't.The witty self-correcting clause "which sounds terrible and wasn't" anticipates the listener's likely reaction and pre-empts it with dry understatement, a genuinely natural piece of humour rather than a straightforward description like "she made unusual popcorn" that a Band 6.5 or 7.0 answer would give. The word choice throughout is also precise and economical -- "takes film nights very seriously" captures a whole personality trait in five words. This idiomatic, confident use of humour signals real ease with the language rather than translated or rehearsed phrasing.
  • GRAthere's a scene near the end, two rocks sitting on a cliff with subtitles, that had all four of us silentAn appositive noun phrase ("two rocks sitting on a cliff with subtitles") is inserted mid-sentence to describe the scene, before the main relative clause ("that had all four of us silent") resumes and completes the thought -- a confident, varied grammatical structure that interrupts and resumes a sentence smoothly, which a Band 6.5 or 7.0 speaker would more likely avoid in favour of two separate, simpler sentences. The causative structure "had... silent" (rather than "made us go silent") is also a slightly more compact, less common way of expressing the same idea. This grammatical control matches the emotional weight of the moment it describes, letting the sentence pause and continue the way the described scene affected the viewers.
  • FCmade it one of my better SaturdaysThis understated closing phrase -- "one of my better Saturdays" rather than "the best Saturday of my life" -- delivers genuine, low-key reflection rather than an overstated summary, a more mature evaluative move than the flatter, more literal closing statement a Band 6.5 or 7.0 answer would likely produce ("it was a really fun evening"). The comparative form also implies a whole set of remembered Saturdays being weighed against each other, suggesting the speaker has a habit of noticing good moments rather than this being an isolated exceptional event. It ties the sensory detail from earlier in the answer (the smell of fish-sauce popcorn) into the closing judgment, grounding the reflection in something concrete rather than abstract praise.这个克制的收尾短语——"one of my better Saturdays"(我过得比较好的星期六之一),而不是"the best Saturday of my life"(我人生最棒的星期六)——传达出真实、低调的反思,而不是夸大其词的总结,这是一种比Band 6.5或7.0答案很可能给出的那种平淡、更字面的结尾("it was a really fun evening")更成熟的评价方式。这种比较级形式也暗示着有一整批被记住的星期六在被相互权衡,暗示说话人有留意美好时刻的习惯,而不是这是一次孤立的特殊事件。它把前文提到的感官细节(鱼露爆米花的味道)与结尾的评价联系起来,让这段反思扎根于具体事物,而不是抽象的赞美。

This answer joins short, plain sentences with 'and' and 'but' to list film types with concrete examples, using everyday vocabulary throughout.这个回答用 'and' 和 'but' 连接简短平实的句子来列举电影类型并举出具体例子,全文使用的都是日常词汇。

Comedies are the most popular, especially the Vietnamese ones released around Tết, because every cinema in Da Nang is full for those, and the whole family goes together. Horror films also do surprisingly well with younger people, and the big American action franchises have a loyal audience too. Romantic dramas from Korea are also very popular, but mostly at home rather than in the cinema. What does not do well is anything slow or serious. My friend and I once watched a beautiful Vietnamese art film, and there were only six people in the whole screening. I think here, people see cinema as something to do in a group, rather than something to do alone, so films that work well with a crowd tend to win.

    • FCWhat does not do well is anything slow or serious. This sentence introduces the contrast plainly, as a short, fresh statement. A band 7 answer would more likely fold this into the flow more naturally with the word 'struggles' instead of the fuller 'does not do well', tightening the transition.这句话以一个简短、直接的陈述来引出对比。7分水平的回答更可能用 'struggles' 这个词代替更完整的 'does not do well',把这一点更自然地融入行文,使过渡更紧凑。
    • LRthere were only six people in the whole screeningThis is plain, literal phrasing. A higher band answer would likely rephrase this more naturally as 'a screening with six people in it', which reads more like an authentic spoken observation than the fuller, slightly more formal version here.这是比较平实、直白的表达。分数更高的回答很可能会更自然地改写成 'a screening with six people in it',读起来更像是真实口语中的观察,而不是这里稍显正式、更完整的说法。
    • GRAI think here, people see cinema as something to do in a group, rather than something to do alone, so films that work well with a crowd tend to win. This closing sentence repeats the phrase 'something to do' twice within one clause, which is accurate but slightly repetitive. A 7.5 answer would likely vary this, describing cinema as a 'group outing' instead of repeating the same structure twice.这句结尾在同一分句里两次重复了 'something to do',用词准确但略显重复。7.5分的回答可能会做出变化,把看电影描述为一种 'group outing',而不是重复两次相同的结构。
    7.0 分

The verb 'struggles' replaces a fuller phrase, and 'a group outing rather than a solitary experience' shows more precise, varied vocabulary than a 6.5 answer's repeated 'something to do' structure.动词 'struggles' 取代了更完整的短语,而 'a group outing rather than a solitary experience' 相比6.5分回答中重复使用 'something to do' 的结构,展示了更精准、更多样的词汇运用。

Horror does surprisingly well with younger audiences, and the big American action franchises have a loyal following too. 为什么是这个分数

    • FCWhat struggles is anything slow or serious:The single verb 'struggles' names the contrast more efficiently than the 6.5 answer's fuller 'does not do well', and the colon launches directly into the supporting example. This more economical transition is typical of band 7 coherence.单独一个动词 'struggles' 比6.5分回答中更完整的 'does not do well' 更高效地点出对比,冒号则直接引出支持性例子。这种更简洁的过渡是7分水平连贯性的典型表现。
    • LRin a screening with six people in itThis natural, compact phrasing reads more like an authentic spoken observation than the fuller 'there were only six people in the whole screening' a 6.5 answer uses. It shows developing fluency in natural sentence construction.这种自然、简洁的表达读起来更像真实口语中的观察,而不像6.5分回答里使用的更完整的 'there were only six people in the whole screening'。它体现了在自然造句方面日渐成熟的流利度。
    • GRApeople here treat cinema as a group outing rather than a solitary experienceThis sentence uses two distinct, precisely contrasted nouns ('a group outing', 'a solitary experience') rather than repeating the phrase 'something to do' as a 6.5 answer does. This shows more grammatical and lexical variety in building the same contrast.这句话使用了两个不同的、形成精确对比的名词短语('a group outing'、'a solitary experience'),而不是像6.5分回答那样重复 'something to do'。这体现了在构建同一对比时更丰富的语法和词汇变化。

    为什么是这个分数

    • LRKorean romantic dramas command a huge audience as well'Command' is a genuinely more vivid, powerful verb than the plainer 'have' a lower band would use, suggesting the dramas actively hold and control audience attention. It reflects precise, confident lexical choice.'Command' 确实是一个比低分回答会用的平淡的 'have' 更生动有力的动词,暗示这些剧集能主动抓住并掌控观众的注意力。它体现了精准而自信的用词选择。
    • FCwhen every cinema in Da Nang is packed and the whole family piles in togetherThis clause, fronted by 'when', attaches directly to the opening list without a new sentence, and 'piles in' is a more vivid verb than a plainer 'goes'. This kind of subordinate-clause attachment building on a fragment opener is characteristic of the coherent, flowing style at the top band.这个由 'when' 引导的从句直接接在开头的列举之后,不另起一句,而 'piles in' 也比平淡的 'goes' 更生动。这种在片段式开头上附加从句的写法,正是高分回答连贯流畅风格的特征。
    • GRAa friend and I once watched a beautiful Vietnamese art film to a screening of sixThis compressed phrase drops the fuller 'in a screening with six people in it', replacing it with the tighter 'to a screening of six', which relies on context to convey the meaning economically. This kind of ellipsis-based compression is characteristic of the grammatical range expected at 7.5.这个压缩短语省去了更完整的 'in a screening with six people in it',代之以更紧凑的 'to a screening of six',依靠上下文来精简地传达意思。这种基于省略的压缩手法正是7.5分所要求语法广度的典型体现。

This answer uses short, plainly connected sentences joined with 'because' and 'but' to give a direct claim, a personal example, and a simple final summary, in everyday vocabulary.这个回答用 'because' 和 'but' 连接简短、平实的句子,直接给出论点、个人例子和简单的结尾总结,用词都很日常。

I think it depends on the film. Something big and loud is a very different experience in a cinema. I saw an action film at CGV last year, and the seats actually shook, which no home setup can do. The cinema also forces you to pay attention, because you cannot check your phone or pause to make tea. But for a quiet drama, or anything I want to think about, home is better. I can rewind a scene, watch with subtitles in two languages, and talk about it with whoever is on the sofa. Cost matters too, because a cinema night for two people in Da Nang costs about the same as a nice dinner. So cinema is good for big films, and home is better for everything else.

    • FCThe cinema also forces you to pay attention, because you cannot check your phone or pause to make tea. This point is added with the plain word 'also' followed by 'because'. A band 7 answer would more likely tighten this into one flowing clause without the extra connector, describing the cinema as forcing attention because 'you can't check your phone or pause to make tea', joined directly with a semicolon or dash.这一点是用平淡的 'also' 接 'because' 添加进去的。7分水平的回答更可能把它收紧成一个连贯的分句,省去多余的连接词,用分号或破折号直接连接,说明电影院强迫专注是因为 'you can't check your phone or pause to make tea'。
    • LRthe seats actually shook, which no home setup can doThis is clear but fairly plain phrasing. A higher band answer would likely use a more natural, idiomatic way to express the same idea, describing it as something 'no home setup is doing that', matching authentic informal spoken grammar.这个表达清楚但比较平淡。分数更高的回答很可能会用更自然、更地道的方式表达同样的意思,说成 'no home setup is doing that',更贴近真实的非正式口语语法。
    • GRASo cinema is good for big films, and home is better for everything else. This closing sentence uses the plain connector 'and' to join two parallel claims. A 7.5 answer would likely compress this into an even shorter, punchier closing phrase, dropping the repeated verb structure for a tighter, more aphoristic finish.这句结尾用平淡的连接词 'and' 连接两个并列的论点。7.5分的回答很可能会把它压缩成更短、更有力的结尾短语,去掉重复的动词结构,收尾更紧凑、更像格言。
    7.0 分

The semicolon in 'The cinema also forces attention; you can't check your phone' shows more flexible punctuation than a 6.5 answer's fuller connected sentence, and the closing fragment gives a punchier, more confident finish.'The cinema also forces attention; you can't check your phone' 中的分号展示了比6.5分回答更完整连接句更灵活的标点运用,而结尾的片段式收尾也让结尾更有力、更自信。

It depends on the film, honestly. Something big and loud is a different experience in a cinema — I saw an action film at CGV last year and the seats shook, and no home setup is doing that. The cinema also forces attention; you can't check your phone or pause to make tea. But for a quiet drama, or anything I want to think about, home wins. I can rewind a scene, watch with subtitles in two languages, and talk about it with whoever's on the sofa. Cost matters too: a cinema night for two in Da Nang is a decent dinner. So cinema for spectacle, home for everything else.

    • FCSo cinema for spectacle, home for everything else. This closing sentence drops the verb entirely, relying on the parallel noun phrases alone to deliver the conclusion, a punchier and more confident structure than a 6.5 answer's fuller 'cinema is good for... and home is better for...'. This kind of verbless summary is typical of band 7 coherence.这句结尾完全去掉了动词,单靠并列的名词短语来传达结论,比6.5分回答中更完整的 'cinema is good for... and home is better for...' 结构更有力、更自信。这种无动词式总结是7分水平连贯性的典型特征。
    • LRno home setup is doing thatThis informal present continuous form ('is doing that') is a more natural, idiomatic way of expressing impossibility than the fuller 'which no home setup can do' a 6.5 answer uses, matching authentic spoken register.这种非正式的现在进行时形式('is doing that')比6.5分回答中更完整的 'which no home setup can do' 更自然、更地道地表达了'不可能',与真实口语语域相符。
    • GRAThe cinema also forces attention; you can't check your phone or pause to make tea.The semicolon links the claim directly to its explanation without a connecting word like 'because', showing more flexible punctuation-based structure than a 6.5 answer's fuller 'also forces you to pay attention, because'. This is not yet the fully compressed style a 7.5 answer would use throughout.分号将论点与其解释直接连接起来,不需要像 'because' 这样的连接词,展示了比6.5分回答更完整的 'also forces you to pay attention, because' 更灵活的、基于标点的结构。不过这还不是7.5分回答会通篇使用的完全压缩风格。

Depends entirely on the film. The cinema also forces attention; no phones, no pausing for tea. But for a quiet drama, or anything I actually want to sit with, home wins hands down. I can rewind a scene, run subtitles in two languages, and talk it over with whoever's on the sofa. Cost matters too: a cinema night for two in Da Nang buys a decent dinner. Cinema for spectacle, home for everything else.

    为什么是这个分数

    • LRSomething big and loud is a different animal in a cinema'A different animal' is a genuinely idiomatic metaphor for something fundamentally distinct, more vivid and natural than the plainer 'a different experience' a lower band would use. It gives the opening a confident, colloquial texture.'A different animal' 是一个真正地道的比喻,用来形容本质上完全不同的东西,比低分回答会用的平淡的 'a different experience' 更生动自然。它让开头带上了自信、口语化的质感。
    • GRAThe cinema also forces attention; no phones, no pausing for tea.The semicolon here introduces a verbless, parallel two-item list ('no phones, no pausing for tea') rather than a fuller clause with 'you can't', dropping the subject and verb entirely for maximum economy. This kind of verbless listing is characteristic of the grammatical range expected at 7.5.这里的分号引出一个无动词、并列的两项列举('no phones, no pausing for tea'),而不是用 'you can't' 构成的更完整分句,完全省去了主语和动词以达到最大程度的简练。这种无动词列举正是7.5分所期待语法广度的特征。
    • FChome wins hands down'Wins hands down' is a genuinely idiomatic intensifier for a decisive victory, adding confident emphasis beyond the plainer 'home wins' a 7.0 answer uses. This kind of natural idiom use strengthens the coherence of the whole comparative argument.'Wins hands down' 是一个真正地道的强调语,表示压倒性的胜利,比7.0分回答中平淡的 'home wins' 多了一份自信的强调。这种自然的习语运用增强了整个对比论证的连贯性。

This answer joins short, plain sentences with 'because' and 'and' to list several reasons, giving concrete personal examples in everyday vocabulary.这个回答用 'because' 和 'and' 连接简短、平实的句子来列举几个原因,并给出了具体的个人例子,用词都很日常。

For some people, it is simply the format. My father falls asleep in every film, not because they are boring, but because sitting still for two hours feels like wasted time to him, and he would rather be fixing something. Other people find films too passive, because they prefer games, where they get to make decisions. Some people struggle to concentrate now, and a film needs more focus than a series of short videos. There is also a group of people who find modern films predictable, because they have already seen the same three plots many times. I would also say that some people never had films as part of their childhood, so it never became something they enjoy.

    • FCOther people find films too passive, because they prefer games, where they get to make decisions. This point is introduced with the plain phrase 'Other people find films too passive'. A band 7 answer would more likely name the group more precisely as 'Others', keeping the sentence tighter and less repetitive of the word 'people'.这一点是用平淡的短语 'Other people find films too passive' 引出的。7分水平的回答更可能更精确地把这一群体称为 'Others',让句子更紧凑,减少 'people' 这个词的重复。
    • LRsitting still for two hours feels like wasted time to himThis is clear but fairly plain, literal phrasing. A higher band answer would likely tighten this into a more compact idiomatic phrase, describing the same idea as feeling 'like wasted time', without the extra 'to him' repeated from the subject.这是清楚但相当平实、直白的表达。分数更高的回答很可能会把它收紧成更简洁的习语短语,把同样的意思说成 'like wasted time',省去从主语重复而来的多余的 'to him'。
    • GRAI would also say that some people never had films as part of their childhood, so it never became something they enjoy. This closing sentence joins two ideas with 'so', which is accurate but somewhat plain. A 7.5 answer would likely tighten this final point, replacing 'something they enjoy' with the more precise, evaluative phrase 'a pleasure they reach for'.这句结尾用 'so' 连接两个想法,准确但略显平淡。7.5分的回答很可能会收紧这个结尾点,用更精准、更具评价性的短语 'a pleasure they reach for' 取代 'something they enjoy'。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCAnd there's a group who find modern films predictable, having seen the same three plots a hundred times. The participial phrase 'having seen the same three plots a hundred times' attaches directly to the main clause without a separate connecting word like 'because', showing more flexible sentence-building than a 6.5 answer's fuller version. I think observation is the most important quality. A friend of mine who acts in theatre in Hanoi spends more time sitting in cafés watching how people hold their cups and avoid eye contact than she does practising her lines, because that is where the truth of a character comes from. After that, you need a kind of emotional honesty, meaning the willingness to actually feel something in front of strangers instead of just pretending to. Good actors also need a good memory, physical control, and thick skin, because the job is mostly rejection. What surprises people is that charisma is not actually required, because some of the best screen actors are quite ordinary in person.

I think it is true, but not in the way most people imagine. For my friend in Hanoi, the performing itself is not really the hard part, it is that she teaches English all day to pay rent, rehearses until midnight, and still gets rejected at most auditions even after ten years. The difficulty is the instability, because there is no guaranteed income, no clear career ladder, and her face is her main asset as she gets older. On film sets, there is also the physical tiredness of very long days repeating the same two minutes again and again.

    • LROn film sets there's also the physical grind of fourteen-hour days repeating the same two minutes.'Grind' is a more vivid, specific noun for exhausting, repetitive work than the plainer 'tiredness' a 6.5 answer uses, and 'fourteen-hour days' is more concrete than the vague 'very long days'. This shows developing precision in expressing the idea.'Grind' 是一个比6.5分回答中平淡的 'tiredness' 更生动、更具体的名词,用来形容累人、重复的工作,而 'fourteen-hour days' 也比模糊的 'very long days' 更具体。这体现了表达这一想法时逐渐成熟的精准度。
    • FCFor the rest, it's a difficult job precisely because it rarely looks like a job at all.The added intensifier 'precisely' sharpens the final claim with more confident emphasis than a 6.5 answer's plainer 'mostly because'. This kind of precise, evaluative closing phrase is typical of band 7 coherence.追加的强调词 'precisely' 让最后的论断比6.5分回答中更平淡的 'mostly because' 多了一份自信的强调。这种精准、带评价性的结尾短语是7分水平连贯性的典型特征。
    • GRAThe performing itself isn't the hard part for my friend in Hanoi; the hard part is that she teaches English all day to pay rent, rehearses until midnight, and still gets rejected at most auditions after ten years. The semicolon joins the claim and its explanation into one continuous sentence, rather than the two separate sentences joined by a comma a 6.5 answer uses. This shows more flexible punctuation-based sentence-building.分号把论点和它的解释连接成一个连贯的句子,而不是像6.5分回答那样用逗号连接的两个独立句子。这展现了更灵活的、基于标点的造句方式。
    7.5 分

The intensified closing phrase 'so rarely resembles a job at all' and the compressed list 'no guaranteed income, no career ladder, your face ageing as your only real asset' show the compact, evaluative grammar typical of band 7.5.强调性的结尾短语 'so rarely resembles a job at all',以及压缩式列举 'no guaranteed income, no career ladder, your face ageing as your only real asset',展现了7.5分典型的简练、评价性语法。

It's true, though not in the way people imagine. The performing itself isn't the hard part for my friend in Hanoi; the hard part is that she teaches English all day to pay rent, rehearses until midnight, and still gets rejected at most auditions after a decade of trying. The real difficulty is the instability — no guaranteed income, no career ladder, your face ageing as your only real asset. On film sets there's also the physical grind of fourteen-hour days spent repeating the same two minutes over and over. The glamorous version people picture applies to perhaps one actor in a thousand. For the rest, it's a difficult job precisely because it so rarely resembles a job at all.

This answer joins short, plain sentences with 'but' and 'so' to give a direct claim, a specific film example, and a simple final contrast, in everyday vocabulary.这个回答用 'but' 和 'so' 连接简短、平实的句子,给出直接的论点、一个具体的电影例子和简单的最终对比,用词都很日常。

I think they are less important than the film industry believes, but not unimportant. A Vietnamese film a couple of years ago broke the domestic box office record with two almost unknown lead actors, purely because people told their friends the film was good. So a good story and word of mouth can beat star power. But famous actors do lower the risk for a film, because they get it financed in the first place and they guarantee a good opening weekend, which is why studios keep paying for them. They matter most for films that do not have much else to sell. For a genuinely good film, a famous actor is a bonus, but for a mediocre one, a famous actor might be the only reason anyone goes to see it.

    • FCBut famous actors do lower the risk for a film, because they get it financed in the first place and they guarantee a good opening weekend, which is why studios keep paying for them. This long sentence chains four ideas together with 'because', 'and' and 'which'. A band 7 answer would more likely break off the reason with a dash instead of 'because', creating a punchier, more flexible link between the claim and its explanation.这个长句用 'because'、'and' 和 'which' 把四个想法串联在一起。7分水平的回答更可能用破折号取代 'because' 来引出理由,让论点和解释之间的连接更有力、更灵活。
    • LRthey guarantee a good opening weekendThis is fairly plain, direct vocabulary. A higher band answer would likely tighten this to just 'guarantee an opening weekend', dropping the slightly redundant 'good', which is already implied by the verb 'guarantee'.这是相当平实、直接的词汇。分数更高的回答很可能会把它收紧为 'guarantee an opening weekend',去掉稍显多余的 'good',因为这层意思已经被动词 'guarantee' 隐含了。
    • GRAFor a genuinely good film, a famous actor is a bonus, but for a mediocre one, a famous actor might be the only reason anyone goes to see it.This closing sentence repeats the phrase 'a famous actor' twice across the contrast, which is accurate but somewhat repetitive. A 7.5 answer would likely drop the repeated noun phrase in the second half, replacing it with 'a star' for variety and economy.这句结尾在对比中两次重复了 'a famous actor',用词准确但有些重复。7.5分的回答很可能会在后半句去掉重复的名词短语,换成 'a star',让表达更有变化、更简练。

This is typical of band 7 coherence.破折号把解释直接接在论点 'famous actors reduce risk' 后面,不需要6.5分回答使用的连接词 'because',让句子结构更有力、更自信。这是7分水平连贯性的典型特征。
    • LRfor a mediocre one, a star is the only reason anyone turns upReplacing the repeated 'a famous actor' with the shorter 'a star' avoids the repetition a 6.5 answer's closing sentence shows, giving the parallel contrast more economy and natural rhythm. I think people need quite a lot of entertainment, but I would define it more broadly than just films and games. My grandmother has never streamed anything in her life. Her entertainment is gossiping on the doorstep, the moon festival, and arguing with the fruit seller, and she is one of the most content people I know. I think what people need is a break from effort and some pleasure that is not productive, because the brain seems to need that to keep working well. The modern problem is that we have turned entertainment into a product we consume alone, which meets the need for rest but not the need for connection. So people need entertainment, but not necessarily in the form that companies try to sell it in.

I think there is something to this view, and I admit I am guilty of it myself. I once realised I had spent three evenings in a row watching short videos while my sister's messages sat unanswered, and entertainment had quietly replaced a relationship instead of just sitting beside it. I do not think entertainment itself is the problem, it is that it is now designed to be endless, so it takes up the time that used to be left over for other things. On the other hand, entertainment and important things are not always separate, because watching a film with friends is a relationship, and a documentary is a form of learning. So I think the view is right about the danger, but a little too simple about the solution. The real fix is boundaries, not giving up pleasure completely.

This shows more flexible, deliberate punctuation-based structure.分号把论点和它的解释连接成一个流畅的句子,取代了6.5分回答对同一想法使用的三段式逗号连锁。这展现了更灵活、更刻意的、基于标点的结构。

The vivid verb 'burned through' and 'swallows the time' give this answer precise, idiomatic vocabulary, while the semicolon-based structure carried through from a strong 7.0 base shows the compressed grammar typical of band 7.5.生动的动词 'burned through' 和 'swallows the time' 让这个回答的用词精准、地道,而从坚实的7.0基础延续下来的、基于分号的结构也展现了7.5分典型的压缩语法。

There's something to it, and I say that as someone who's guilty. I once realised I'd burned through three evenings in a row on short videos while my sister's messages sat unanswered — entertainment had quietly replaced a relationship rather than sitting beside it. The worry isn't entertainment itself; it's that it's now engineered to be endless, so it swallows the time that used to be left over. On the other hand, entertainment and the important things aren't always separate: a film watched with friends is a relationship, a documentary is learning. So the view is right about the danger and a touch simplistic about the solution. The fix is boundaries, not giving up pleasure altogether.

    • LRI once realised I'd burned through three evenings in a row on short videos'Burned through' is a genuinely vivid, figurative verb for consuming time carelessly, more evocative and precise than the plainer 'spent' a lower band would use. It reflects confident, natural figurative language.'Burned through' 是一个真正生动、比喻性的动词,形容不加节制地消耗时间,比低分回答会用的平淡的 'spent' 更传神、更精准。它体现了自信自然的比喻语言。
    • FCit's that it's now engineered to be endless, so it swallows the time that used to be left over'Swallows' personifies entertainment as an active, consuming force, a more vivid verb than the plainer 'takes' a 7.0 answer uses. This kind of precise, evaluative verb choice strengthens the coherence of the whole cause-and-effect argument.'Swallows' 把娱乐拟人化为一种主动的、吞噬一切的力量,是一个比7.0分回答使用的平淡的 'takes' 更生动的动词。这种精准、带评价性的动词选择增强了整个因果论证的连贯性。
    • GRAOn the other hand, entertainment and the important things aren't always separate: a film watched with friends is a relationship, a documentary is learning. The colon launches directly into two parallel, verbless-feeling equative clauses ('a film... is a relationship, a documentary is learning') without any connecting word between them, relying purely on juxtaposition. This kind of compressed parallel listing is characteristic of the grammatical range expected at 7.5.冒号直接引出两个平行的、近乎无动词的等同分句('a film... is a relationship, a documentary is learning'),中间没有任何连接词,纯粹依靠并置来传达意思。这种压缩式的平行列举正是7.5分所要求语法广度的特征。
  9. 9. Do you agree or disagree that by providing people with new perspectives, the entertainment industry might shape society?

This answer joins short, plainly connected sentences with 'and' and 'because' to give a direct opinion, a family example, and a simple final concern, in everyday vocabulary.这个回答用 'and' 和 'because' 连接简短、平实的句子,给出直接的观点、一个家庭例子和简单的最终担忧,用词都很日常。

I agree, and I think it already has. My younger cousins have grown up watching Korean dramas, and you can see it in what they expect, from relationships, from apartments, even from how an apology should sound. That is a whole way of seeing the world learned through entertainment, without anyone deciding to teach it directly. Films have made distant lives feel normal, which is probably why attitudes on many social issues have changed faster in one generation than any campaign could manage. The warning is that the industry shapes society in whatever direction sells the most, not necessarily a good direction, because it can make cruelty seem normal just as easily as kindness. So yes, it does shape society, but the real question is who gets to decide the shape.

    • FCThat is a whole way of seeing the world learned through entertainment, without anyone deciding to teach it directly. This is clear but fairly plain phrasing. A band 7 answer would more likely use the more precise, abstract word 'worldview' instead of the fuller 'a whole way of seeing the world', compressing the same idea into a single, natural-sounding noun.这是清楚但相当平实的表达。7分水平的回答更可能用更精准、更抽象的词 'worldview' 代替更完整的 'a whole way of seeing the world',把同样的意思压缩成一个自然的单一名词。
    • LRit can make cruelty seem normal just as easily as kindnessThis is clear, direct vocabulary. A higher band answer would likely use the more precise verb 'normalise' instead of the fuller phrase 'make... seem normal', giving the same idea in a single, more natural-sounding word.这是清楚、直接的词汇。分数更高的回答很可能会用更精准的动词 'normalise' 代替更完整的短语 'make... seem normal',用一个更自然的词表达同样的意思。
    • GRAThe warning is that the industry shapes society in whatever direction sells the most, not necessarily a good direction, because it can make cruelty seem normal just as easily as kindness. This long sentence chains several ideas together with commas and 'because'. A 7.5 answer would likely break this off with a dash instead, creating a punchier link between the warning and its illustration.这个长句用逗号和 'because' 把几个想法串联在一起。7.5分的回答很可能会改用破折号来断开,让警告和它的举例之间的连接更有力。
    7.0 分

The compact noun 'worldview' and the verb 'normalise' show more precise, economical vocabulary than a 6.5 answer's fuller phrasing, while the semicolon in the closing sentence tightens the final structure.紧凑的名词 'worldview' 和动词 'normalise' 展现了比6.5分回答更完整表达更精准、更简练的词汇,而结尾句中的分号也让最终的结构更紧凑。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCThat's a whole worldview absorbed through entertainment, without anyone deciding to teach it.'Worldview' compresses the fuller phrase 'a whole way of seeing the world' into a single precise noun, showing more economical, confident vocabulary than a 6.5 answer's version. This kind of compact abstraction is typical of band 7 lexical range.'Worldview' 把更完整的短语 'a whole way of seeing the world' 压缩成一个精准的名词,比6.5分回答的版本展现了更简练、更自信的词汇。这种紧凑的抽象化手法正是7分水平词汇广度的典型体现。
    • LRit can normalise cruelty as easily as kindness'Normalise' is a more precise, single-word verb for the process described more clumsily as 'make... seem normal' in a 6.5 answer, fitting the abstract, sociological register of the whole argument. This shows developing lexical precision.'Normalise' 是一个比6.5分回答中更笨拙的 'make... seem normal' 更精准的单词动词,描述的是同一个过程,并契合整个论证的抽象、社会学式的语域。这体现了逐渐成熟的词汇精准度。
    • GRASo yes, it shapes society; the question is who gets to decide the shape. The semicolon joins the confirming statement directly to the final open question, rather than the fuller 'but the real question is' a 6.5 answer uses. This kind of tight, semicolon-based closing structure shows more grammatical range.分号把肯定性的陈述直接连接到最后的开放式问题上,而不是用6.5分回答使用的更完整的 'but the real question is'。这种紧凑的、基于分号的结尾结构展现了更丰富的语法广度。
    7.5 分

The intensified phrase 'just as readily as' and the trailing clause 'the shape it takes' give this answer precise, evaluative closure, while the semicolon-based structure carried through from a strong 7.0 base shows the grammatical compression typical of band 7.5.强调短语 'just as readily as' 和尾随分句 'the shape it takes' 让这个回答收尾精准、富有评价性,而从坚实的7.0基础延续下来的、基于分号的结构也展现了7.5分典型的语法压缩。

    为什么是这个分数

    • LRit can normalise cruelty just as readily as kindness'Readily' is a genuinely more precise adverb than the plainer 'easily' a lower band would use, suggesting a disturbing willingness or ease specific to how quickly something can become normalised. It reflects confident, exact lexical choice.'Readily' 是一个比低分回答会用的平淡的 'easily' 更精准的副词,暗示一种令人不安的意愿或轻易程度,专门指某件事能有多快变得正常化。它体现了自信而精确的词汇选择。
    • FCthe real question is who gets to decide the shape it takesThe trailing relative clause 'it takes' extends the closing question with an extra layer of precision, rounding off the whole answer on a more considered, deliberate note. A 6.5 or 7.0 answer would more likely stop at 'who gets to decide the shape' without this additional refinement.尾随的定语从句 'it takes' 给结尾的问题增添了一层额外的精准,让整个回答以更审慎、更刻意的语气收尾。6.5或7.0的回答更可能就此停在 'who gets to decide the shape',不做这一层进一步的打磨。
    • GRAwithout anyone ever deciding to teach itThe added intensifier 'ever' sharpens the claim beyond the plainer 'without anyone deciding to teach it' a lower band would use, adding emphatic confidence to the observation about unintentional cultural transmission. This kind of small, deliberate intensification reflects the grammatical control expected at 7.5.追加的强调词 'ever' 让这个论断比低分回答会用的平淡的 'without anyone deciding to teach it' 更犀利,为这个关于无意识文化传播的观察增添了强调性的自信。这种小而刻意的强调正体现了7.5分所要求的语法掌控力。
