Describe a famous person you would like to meet

You should say:

  • Who he/she is
  • How you knew him/her
  • How/where you would like to meet him/her

范文:6.5、7.0、7.5 三档

同一题目的三个版本,分别写到对应分数的真实水平——对比着看,能清楚看到分数之间到底差在哪里。

6.5 分

The 6.5 answer stays close to simple description and one plain reason ('the lyrics are very simple and honest'), moving through the four cue-card points without much elaboration, typical of controlled Band 6.5 fluency.Band 6.5 的答案基本停留在简单描述和一个朴素的理由上(比如'歌词非常简单真挚'),按顺序讲完提示卡上的四个要点,没有太多展开,是 Band 6.5 那种可控流利度的典型表现。

The famous person I would like to meet is Đen Vâu, a Vietnamese rapper. He is very popular in Vietnam now, and I think almost everyone my age knows his songs.

I first knew about him a few years ago, when a colleague at my studio played one of his songs in the office. I didn't like rap music much before that, but his songs are different, because the lyrics are very simple and honest, and they talk about ordinary life, like family, hometown, and small struggles. After that, I started listening to his albums on my way to work.

If I could meet him, I would like it to be somewhere quiet, maybe backstage after a concert, not in a big crowd. I don't think I would ask for a photo straight away. I would just like to tell him how his music helped me during a hard year, and ask him how he writes such simple but meaningful lyrics.

I would like to meet him because his songs feel very real, not fake like a lot of pop music. He talks about things like missing your hometown, which I really understand, since I moved away from Hue myself. Meeting him would feel like meeting someone who already understands me a little.

  • FCI first knew about him a few years ago, when a colleague at my studio played one of his songs in the office. This sentence narrates the origin of the interest in strict chronological order — time marker, then event — using a single 'when'-clause, without embedding any evaluation or reflection about why the moment mattered. A 7.0 answer would likely follow this immediately with a reason clause in the same sentence; a 7.5 answer might open with a more reflective framing instead of a plain timeline. Here the direct, sequential narration clearly establishes the facts of how the speaker discovered Đen Vâu, the 'direct chronological' style that defines Band 6.5 development.
  • LRvery real, not fake like a lot of pop musicThe evaluation uses simple, high-frequency vocabulary ('very real, not fake') rather than more precise or varied wording, fitting the modest Band 6.5 lexical target.评价部分使用了简单常见的词汇(比如'很真实,不做作'),而不是更精准或更丰富的措辞,符合 Band 6.5 相对有限的词汇目标。
  • GRAbecause the lyrics are very simple and honest, and they talk about ordinary life, like family, hometown, and small strugglesA single 'because'-clause is extended with a coordinated list of topics — 'family, hometown, and small struggles' — joined by 'and,' giving one reason plenty of supporting detail without introducing further subordination or a second independent clause. A 7.0 answer would likely tighten this into a more varied structure, perhaps splitting the list into its own clause; a 7.5 answer might use a more selective, figurative description instead of a plain list. This because-clause-plus-list pattern is accurate and communicative, fitting the basic-to-moderate complexity ceiling of Band 6.5 while still conveying genuine, specific content.

The 7.0 answer develops each cue-card point with one added reason and a concrete detail (discovering the book because 'the cover was completely plain white'), and links ideas with natural spoken connectors like 'As for meeting him', without reaching for idiomatic language.Band 7.0 的答案为提示卡上的每个要点都补充了一个理由和一个具体细节(比如因为'封面纯白得什么都没有'才发现这本书),并用'至于见面这件事'这类自然的口语连接词把内容串起来,没有刻意使用习语。

The famous person I'd like to meet is Kenya Hara, a Japanese designer who has been the art director of MUJI for many years. He isn't really a celebrity in the normal sense - most people wouldn't recognise his face - but in the design world, he's someone almost everyone respects.

I found out about him quite by chance. During my second year at university in Hanoi, I was putting off an assignment in the library and picked up a book called Designing Design, mainly because the cover was completely plain white. I ended up reading a good chunk of it standing right there. His main idea is that empty space isn't really empty - it's more like an invitation, a space where the viewer can add their own meaning. It sounded a bit abstract at first, but it actually changed the way I design app screens. I stopped trying to fill every single corner of a page.

As for meeting him, I wouldn't want it to be a formal interview, because I'd probably get too nervous to speak properly. He gives talks occasionally, and there was one in Tokyo last year that a friend of mine went to and described in a lot of detail afterwards. I'd love to be in the audience for something like that, and then, if I was lucky, ask him one question at the end - whether he thinks his idea of quiet, simple design can really work on a phone screen, where everything is competing for attention.

The reason I'd choose him over someone more famous is that he's the only well-known person whose work has genuinely made me better at my job. Meeting an actor or a singer would be exciting for one afternoon, but meeting him could actually change how I design for years to come.

  • FCI ended up reading a good chunk of it standing right thereThis sentence adds a small, vivid physical detail — reading while standing in the library aisle rather than sitting down — that makes the discovery of the book feel spontaneous and immediate, rather than a flat statement like 'I found the book interesting.' A 6.5 answer would likely skip this physical detail entirely; a 7.5 answer might push further into a reflective aside about what that moment felt like. Grounding the story in this specific concrete action, rather than just stating a fact, is the fuller development 7.0 rewards, and it sets up the abstract idea about empty space that follows.
  • LRputting off an assignmentThe natural, everyday collocation 'putting off an assignment' is a flexible phrase slightly beyond the plainest vocabulary, matching the Band 7.0 target.'putting off an assignment'(拖延一份作业)这个自然的日常搭配是一种略微超出最基础词汇的灵活表达,符合 Band 7.0 的目标。
  • GRAmainly because the cover was completely plain whiteThe because-clause is modified by the intensifying adverb 'completely,' sharpening a fairly mundane reason — picking up a book for its cover — into a specific, almost ironic detail: the plainness of the cover foreshadows the designer's whole philosophy about empty space discussed a sentence later. A 6.5 answer would likely give the reason without the intensifier, as a flatter statement; a 7.5 answer might integrate this reason into a more complex sentence altogether. This accurate, comfortably intensified because-clause is typical 7.0 complexity that still carries real narrative weight.

The 7.5 answer closes with a sharp, reflective contrast ('Meeting an actor or a footballer would be exciting for an afternoon. Meeting him might change what I do for the next twenty years.'), the kind of evaluative payoff that marks Band 7.5 fluency and coherence.Band 7.5 的答案以一个鲜明、发人深省的对比收尾('见一个演员或足球运动员,可能只是一个下午的兴奋。见到他,却可能改变我接下来二十年做的事。'),这种评价性的点睛之笔正是 Band 7.5 流利度与连贯性的标志。

The famous person I'd like to meet is Kenya Hara, the Japanese designer who's been the art director of MUJI for years. He's not a celebrity in the usual sense — most people wouldn't recognise him in the street — but in my field he's something close to a legend.

I came across him by accident. In my second year at university in Hanoi, I was avoiding a deadline in the library and pulled out a book called Designing Design, mostly because the cover was completely white. I ended up reading half of it standing up. His whole idea is that emptiness isn't nothing — a blank space is an invitation, a place where the person looking at it can put their own meaning. That sounds abstract, but it changed how I design screens. I stopped trying to fill every corner.

As for how I'd like to meet him, not in a formal interview, honestly, because I'd freeze. He gives lectures occasionally, and there was one in Tokyo last year that a friend attended and described in painful detail. I'd love to be in that room, and then maybe, if I got lucky, ask him one question at the end. I know exactly what it would be: whether he thinks his idea of quiet, empty design can survive on a phone screen, where everything is fighting for attention.

Why him rather than someone more glamorous? I think it's because he's the only famous person whose work has actually made me better at my job. Meeting an actor or a footballer would be exciting for an afternoon. Meeting him might change what I do for the next twenty years.

为什么是这个分数

  • LRsomething close to a legend"Something close to a legend" hedges the word "legend" rather than stating it outright, which is a more sophisticated move than simply saying "he's famous" or even "he's a legend" — the hedge signals precision about status within a niche field rather than fame in general. This kind of figurative, carefully calibrated phrase is what the 7.5 tier means by "less-common words and collocations used naturally"; a 7.0 answer would likely settle for a plainer "he's very respected in my field." It also sets up the next paragraph's clarification that he isn't recognisable on the street, so the hedge is doing real logical work, not just sounding impressive."Something close to a legend" 用了模糊限制的说法而不是直接说出"legend"这个词,这比单纯说"he's famous"甚至"he's a legend"更为老练——这种模糊限制传达出的是在一个小众领域内地位的精准描述,而非泛泛的名气。这种比喻性、经过精心校准的措辞,正是7.5档位所说的"自然使用的较不常见词语与搭配";7.0水平的答案更可能满足于更平淡的说法"he's very respected in my field"。它也为下一段的澄清做了铺垫——他在街上并不会被人认出来——所以这个模糊限制语承担着真正的逻辑作用,而不只是听起来很厉害。
  • GRAand then maybe, if I got lucky, ask him one question at the endThe conditional "if I got lucky" is dropped into the middle of the sentence rather than placed at the front in the standard "If I got lucky, I would ask..." position, which takes more grammatical control to pull off without breaking the flow. This mid-sentence embedding is the kind of flexible clause placement the 7.5 tier's "wider grammatical range" targets, going beyond the safer, front-loaded conditionals a 7.0 answer would typically use. It also mirrors natural hesitant speech — the speaker sounds like they're genuinely working out the scenario as they talk, which supports fluency as well as grammar.条件从句"if I got lucky"被嵌入句子中间,而不是放在标准位置"If I got lucky, I would ask..."的句首,这需要更强的语法掌控力才能在不打断句子流畅性的情况下完成。这种灵活的从句位置嵌入,正是7.5档位所瞄准的“更宽的语法范围”,超越了7.0水平答案通常会用的、更安全的前置条件句。它也模拟了自然的犹豫式口语——说话人听起来像是在说话的同时真正地思考着这个假设情境,这既支撑了语法表现,也支撑了流利度。
  • FCMeeting an actor or a footballer would be exciting for an afternoon. Meeting him might change what I do for the next twenty years. The two sentences are built on identical grammar (a gerund subject plus a modal verb) but pull in opposite directions on scale — "an afternoon" against "twenty years" — which is a deliberately constructed parallel contrast rather than a spontaneous afterthought. This kind of engineered rhetorical payoff, closing the whole answer on a reflective value judgement, is exactly the evaluative depth the 7.5 tier expects beyond description; a 7.0 answer would likely end on a simpler single statement like "I'd really like to meet him because his work inspires me." The parallelism also gives the ending real rhythm, which supports the delivery side of a strong spoken response.这两句话建立在完全相同的语法结构之上(动名词主语加情态动词),却在规模上朝相反的方向拉伸——"an afternoon"(一个下午)对比"twenty years"(二十年)——这是一种刻意构建的并列对比,而不是随口的补充想法。这种经过精心设计的修辞效果,以一个反思性的价值判断为整个答案收尾,正是7.5档位所期待的、超越单纯描述的评价深度;Band 7.0的答案更可能以一句更简单的陈述收尾,比如"I'd really like to meet him because his work inspires me."这种并列结构也为结尾赋予了真正的节奏感,有助于一段出色口语回答的表达效果。

This answer lists categories in short, plainly connected sentences using 'and' and 'because', giving concrete examples in everyday vocabulary such as 'important national news' and 'more attention'.这篇答案用简短、由"and"和"because"连接的句子列举类别,并用"important national news"(重要的国家新闻)和"more attention"(更多关注)等日常词汇给出具体例子。

Singers and actors are the main ones, and then footballers, especially the national team's coach right now, because every press conference he gives becomes news. Business people also appear a lot, like a couple of billionaires whose company announcements get treated like important national news. Politicians are in the news too, of course, but the coverage of them is more formal and less about gossip. One thing that has changed recently is that online personalities are becoming more famous, like a beauty influencer or a funny TikToker, who can get more attention in one week than a serious writer gets in their whole career. If I look at my news feed, it is mostly the same fifteen faces again and again.

    • FCOne thing that has changed recently is that online personalities are becoming more famousThis transition is introduced with the plain, fairly generic phrase 'One thing that has changed recently is that'. A band 7 answer would more likely mark this shift more naturally, framing it as 'What's changed in the last few years' to sound more like spoken reflection.这个转折是用"One thing that has changed recently is that"(最近发生变化的一件事是)这种平实、相当笼统的说法引出的。7分水平的答案更可能用更自然的方式标示这一转变,表述为"What's changed in the last few years"(过去几年发生的变化),听起来更像是口语化的思考。
    • LRget more attention in one week than a serious writer gets in their whole careerThis is a clear but fairly literal comparison. A higher band answer would likely phrase this contrast more sharply, for instance saying someone can 'generate more headlines in a week than a serious writer does in a career', tightening the comparison with more precise vocabulary.这是一个清晰但相当直白的比较。更高分的答案很可能会把这种对比表达得更犀利,比如说某人能"generate more headlines in a week than a serious writer does in a career"(一周内制造的头条比一位严肃作家一辈子还多),用更精准的词汇让对比更紧凑。
    • GRABusiness people also appear a lot, like a couple of billionaires whose company announcements get treated like important national news. This sentence adds an example with the connector 'like' inside a fairly long single clause. A 7.5 answer would likely break this into two shorter linked ideas using a comma and 'a couple of billionaires whose...', avoiding the slightly heavy single-clause structure.这句话在一个相当长的单一分句里,用连接词"like"加入了一个例子。7.5分的答案很可能会把它拆成两个较短、用逗号和"a couple of billionaires whose..."连接的意群,避免单一分句显得有点冗长。
    7.0 分

The verb 'dominate' and the dash-set example give this answer more precise, flexible phrasing than a 6.5 response's plainer listing, while the aside 'to be honest' adds natural spoken reflection to the closing line.动词"dominate"(占主导)以及用破折号引出的例子,使这篇答案比6.5分答案更平铺直叙的列举方式更精准、更灵活,而插入语"to be honest"(老实说)则为结尾句增添了自然的口语化思考感。

Singers and actors dominate, then footballers and, at the moment, the national team's coach, whose every press conference seems to be news. Business figures come up a lot too — a couple of billionaires whose company announcements get treated like national events. Politicians appear, of course, but coverage of them is more formal and less gossipy. What's changed in the last few years, I'd say, is the rise of online personalities: a beauty influencer or a comedy TikToker can now generate more headlines in a week than a serious writer does in a career. If I scroll my news feed, it's roughly the same fifteen faces rotating, to be honest.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCWhat's changed in the last few years, I'd say, is the rise of online personalities:The aside 'I'd say' is folded into the middle of this transition sentence rather than placed at the start, giving it a more natural, spoken rhythm. A 6.5 answer would more likely open this same point with the plainer, more generic phrase 'One thing that has changed recently is that'.插入语"I'd say"被嵌入这句过渡句的中间,而不是放在句首,使它带有更自然的口语节奏。6.5分的答案更可能用更平实、更笼统的说法"One thing that has changed recently is that"来引出同样的观点。
    • LRcan now generate more headlines in a week than a serious writer does in a career'Generate more headlines' is a more precise, media-specific phrase than the plainer 'get more attention' a 6.5 answer would use, fitting the topic of news coverage more exactly. It shows developing lexical precision."generate more headlines"(制造更多头条)比6.5分答案可能使用的更平实的"get more attention"(获得更多关注)更精确,也更贴合媒体语境,与新闻报道这个话题的契合度更高,体现出词汇精确度的提升。
    • GRABusiness figures come up a lot too — a couple of billionaires whose company announcements get treated like national events. The dash attaches the example directly to the general claim without a connecting word like 'like', showing a more flexible way of adding illustrative detail than a 6.5 answer's fuller single-clause version. This punctuation-based attachment is typical of band 7 range.破折号把例子直接接到一般性论断后面,不需要像"like"这样的连接词,显示出比6.5分答案那种更完整的单一分句版本更灵活的补充细节方式。这种依靠标点连接的方式是7分水平的典型特征。

The imperative-conditional 'Scroll my news feed and it's...' and the closing evaluative clause 'which says something about what actually gets clicks' give this answer compressed grammar and a sharp final observation typical of band 7.5.祈使句加条件结构"Scroll my news feed and it's..."(刷一下我的新闻推送,就会…)以及结尾的评价性分句"which says something about what actually gets clicks"(这说明了什么才能真正吸引点击),使这篇答案的语法更凝练,结尾观察也更犀利,是7.5分典型的特征。

Singers and actors dominate, then footballers and, currently, the national team's coach, whose every press conference somehow counts as news. Business figures crop up a lot too — a couple of billionaires whose company announcements get treated like national events. Politicians appear, naturally, but coverage of them stays more formal and considerably less gossipy. What's shifted in the last few years is the rise of online personalities: a beauty influencer or a comedy TikToker can now generate more headlines in a week than a serious writer manages in a career. 为什么是这个分数

    • FCwhich says something about what actually gets clicksThis closing clause draws a wider, slightly cynical conclusion about the media system itself, going beyond simply describing the pattern of names. A 6.5 or 7.0 answer would more likely end on the observation about the same fifteen faces without this extra evaluative step.这个结尾分句得出了一个更宏观、略带犬儒意味的结论,针对媒体体系本身,而不只是描述名字重复的模式。6.5分或7.0分的答案更可能就"同样那十五张脸"这个观察收尾,而不会多加这一步评价。
    • LRBusiness figures crop up a lot too'Crop up' is a genuinely more idiomatic phrasal verb than the plainer 'come up' or 'appear' a lower band would use, suggesting something recurring somewhat unpredictably. It gives the sentence a natural, conversational texture."crop up"(冒出来)是一个真正更地道的短语动词,比低分答案可能用的更平实的"come up"或"appear"更自然,暗示某种有点不可预测地反复出现的情况。它让句子带有自然的口语质感。
    • GRAScroll my news feed and it's roughly the same fifteen faces rotating, which says something about what actually gets clicks. This imperative-plus-result structure ('Scroll..., and it's...') replaces a more conventional conditional clause like 'If I scroll...', giving the sentence a punchier, more flexible rhythm. This kind of grammatical risk-taking for stylistic effect is characteristic of the range expected at 7.5.这种"祈使句+结果"的结构("Scroll..., and it's...")取代了更常规的条件句如"If I scroll...",让句子的节奏更有力、更灵活。这种为追求文体效果而进行的语法冒险,正是7.5分水平所期望具备的特征。

Short, separate sentences joined with 'but' and 'so' present a direct claim, a generational comparison, and a simple final conclusion, all in plain, everyday vocabulary.用"but"和"so"连接的简短独立句,呈现出一个直接的论断、一个代际比较,以及一个简单的最终结论,全部使用平实的日常词汇。

I think there are far more now, but most of them are famous for less. My grandmother can name maybe ten celebrities from her youth, just a few singers and a couple of film stars, and they stayed famous for decades. I could probably name hundreds of famous people, but half of them will probably be forgotten by next year. The internet made it cheaper to become known, because now you just need a phone and one lucky week, instead of a record label or a film studio. So the number of famous people has grown a lot, but fame itself has become thinner and shorter. The truly famous people, the ones everyone from every generation knows, are probably not more common than before.

    • FCThe internet made it cheaper to become known, because now you just need a phone and one lucky week, instead of a record label or a film studio. This causal point is stated in a straightforward sentence using the plain connector 'because'. A band 7 answer would more likely phrase the cause more abstractly, describing the internet as having 'lowered the cost of becoming known', treating fame like an economic good.这个因果关系是用平实的连接词"because"以一个直白的句子表达出来的。7分水平的答案更可能把原因表达得更抽象,把互联网描述为"lowered the cost of becoming known"(降低了成名的成本),把名气当作一种经济商品来看待。
    • LRfame itself has become thinner and shorter'Thinner and shorter' is simple, everyday descriptive vocabulary applied metaphorically to fame. A higher band answer would likely extend or vary this metaphor with a more specific contrast, describing fame as having become 'thinner and shorter' while pairing it with a sharper claim about the genuinely famous being 'no more numerous than before'."thinner and shorter"(更单薄、更短暂)是简单的日常描述性词汇,被隐喻地用在名气上。更高分的答案很可能会延伸或变换这个比喻,用更具体的对比来表达,把名气描述为变得"thinner and shorter",同时搭配一个更犀利的论断:真正的名人"并不比以前更多"。
    • GRAI could probably name hundreds of famous people, but half of them will probably be forgotten by next year. This sentence repeats the modal 'probably' twice within one short sentence, which is accurate but slightly repetitive. A 7.5 answer would likely vary this, keeping only one hedge and expressing the second idea with a more definite, confident verb like 'vanished' instead of a repeated hedge.这句话在一个短句里重复使用了两次情态词"probably",虽然准确,但略显重复。7.5分的答案很可能会做出变化,只保留一个模糊限制语,而用像"vanished"(消失了)这样更确定、更自信的动词来表达第二个意思,而不是重复使用模糊限制语。

The phrase 'lowered the cost of becoming known' treats fame as an economic good, showing more abstract, precise vocabulary than a 6.5 answer, while the dash-set list of examples adds more flexible structure."lowered the cost of becoming known"这个说法把名气当作一种经济商品来看待,显示出比6.5分答案更抽象、更精准的词汇,而用破折号引出的例子列表则增添了更灵活的结构。

Far more, I'd say, though I'd argue most of them are famous for less. My grandmother can name maybe ten celebrities from her youth — a few singers, a couple of film stars — and they were famous for decades. I could probably name hundreds, and half of them will have vanished by next year. The internet lowered the cost of becoming known, since you no longer need a record label or a film studio, just a phone and a lucky week. So the number has exploded, but fame has become thinner and shorter. The genuinely famous, the people everyone across generations knows, are probably no more numerous than before.

    • FCthough I'd argue most of them are famous for lessThe aside 'I'd argue' signals a personal, considered stance folded directly into the opening sentence, rather than being stated as a flat, separate claim. A 6.5 answer would more likely present this same idea as its own plain sentence: 'but most of them are famous for less'.插入语"I'd argue"表明一种个人的、经过思考的立场,直接嵌入开头句中,而不是作为一个平淡、独立的论断表达出来。6.5分的答案更可能把同样的想法表达成一个独立的平实句子:"but most of them are famous for less"。
    • LRThe internet lowered the cost of becoming knownDescribing fame in economic terms, as something with a 'cost' that can be 'lowered', is a more abstract and precise way of framing the idea than a 6.5 answer's more literal 'made it cheaper to become known'. This shows developing conceptual precision in vocabulary.用经济学的术语来描述名气,把它当作一种有"成本"、可以被"降低"的东西,是一种比6.5分答案更直白的"made it cheaper to become known"(让成名变得更便宜)更抽象、更精确的表达方式。这体现出词汇在概念精确度上的提升。
    • GRAI could probably name hundreds, and half of them will have vanished by next year. This sentence uses the single hedge 'probably' alongside the more definite future perfect 'will have vanished', avoiding the repeated hedging a 6.5 answer's version shows. This gives a slightly more confident, varied grammatical structure.这句话只用了一次模糊限制语"probably",搭配更确定的将来完成时"will have vanished",避免了6.5分答案版本中重复使用模糊限制语的情况。这让语法结构显得更自信、更有变化。

The colon-launched explanation and the vivid verb 'rattle off' give this answer compact, natural phrasing typical of band 7.5, while the closing comparison 'no more numerous than they ever were' shows a compressed, idiomatic final clause.用冒号引出解释,以及生动的动词"rattle off"(一口气报出),使这篇答案的措辞紧凑、自然,是7.5分的典型特征,而结尾的比较"no more numerous than they ever were"(从来都不比现在更多)则展示了一个凝练、地道的收尾分句。

Far more, though I'd argue most of them are famous for considerably less. My grandmother can name maybe ten celebrities from her youth — a few singers, a couple of film stars — and they stayed famous for decades. I could rattle off hundreds, and half of them will have vanished by next year without a trace. The internet lowered the cost of becoming known: you no longer need a record label or a film studio, just a phone and a lucky week. So the number has exploded, but fame itself has grown thinner and shorter-lived. The genuinely famous, the people everyone across generations recognises, are probably no more numerous than they ever were.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCI could rattle off hundreds, and half of them will have vanished by next year without a traceThe trailing phrase 'without a trace' adds a vivid, almost dramatic image to the idea of disappearing fame, going beyond a plain statement of the fact. A 6.5 or 7.0 answer would more likely end this sentence right after 'vanished by next year' without the extra idiomatic flourish.结尾的"without a trace"(不留痕迹)为"名气消失"这个想法增添了生动、近乎戏剧化的意象,超越了平铺直叙的事实陈述。6.5分或7.0分的答案更可能在"vanished by next year"之后就结束这句话,不会多加这个地道的修辞点缀。
    • LRI could rattle off hundreds'Rattle off' is a genuinely idiomatic phrasal verb for listing something quickly and easily, more vivid and natural-sounding than the plainer 'name' a lower band would use. It shows confident, native-like phrasing."rattle off"是一个真正地道的短语动词,用来表示轻松快速地列举出某些内容,比低分答案可能使用的更平实的"name"更生动、更自然,体现出自信、接近母语者水准的措辞。
    • GRAThe internet lowered the cost of becoming known: you no longer need a record label or a film studio, just a phone and a lucky week. The colon launches directly into the explanation without a connecting word like 'since', compressing the cause-and-effect relationship into a single flowing sentence. This kind of punctuation-based compression is characteristic of the grammatical control expected at 7.5.冒号直接引出解释,不需要像"since"这样的连接词,把因果关系压缩进一个流畅的单句里。这种依靠标点实现的压缩正是7.5分水平所期望具备的语法掌控力的特征。

I disagree, but with one exception. My father cannot name a single singer today, and he finds celebrity gossip really strange, but he reads every word about the national football coach, so his lack of interest is only about certain famous people, not all of them. I think almost everyone follows some famous person, maybe an athlete, a scientist, or a chef instead of a film star. What is different is whether people admit it is really the same habit. There are also people who avoid all of this completely, usually because they find the whole idea of fame a bit unpleasant, and I understand that feeling a little. So it is most people, not everyone, and usually not for the same reasons.

    • FCI disagree, but with one exception. This opening states the position and adds the qualification in two short clauses joined by the basic connector 'but'. A band 7 answer would more likely phrase the same idea more naturally, framing the qualification as 'I disagree, but with a caveat', which sounds more like considered spoken reflection.这个开头用两个由基础连接词"but"连接的短句,表明立场并加上限定说明。7分水平的答案更可能用更自然的方式表达同样的意思,把限定说明表述为"I disagree, but with a caveat"(我不同意,但有一个但书),听起来更像是经过思考的口语表达。
    • LRhe finds celebrity gossip really strangeThis is plain, everyday descriptive vocabulary. A higher band answer would likely use a more precise, slightly formal word for the same reaction, such as describing him as finding celebrity gossip 'genuinely baffling', which sounds more natural and specific.这是平实的日常描述性词汇。更高分的答案很可能会用一个更精确、略正式的词来表达同样的反应,比如把他描述为觉得名人八卦"genuinely baffling"(真的令人困惑),这样听起来更自然、更具体。
    • GRAso his lack of interest is only about certain famous people, not all of themThis clause is added with the plain connector 'so' to state the conclusion directly. A 7.5 answer would likely compress this same idea into a more compact contrastive noun phrase, such as calling the indifference 'selective rather than total', avoiding the fuller explanatory clause.这个分句用平实的连接词"so"直接表达结论。7.5分的答案很可能会把同样的意思压缩成一个更紧凑的对比性名词短语,比如把这种冷淡称为"selective rather than total"(选择性的而非全面的),避免使用更完整的解释性分句。
    7.0 分

The phrase 'his indifference is selective rather than total' compresses the reasoning into a compact noun phrase, showing more range than a 6.5 answer's fuller 'so' clause, while the closing fragment sentence adds a natural, spoken finish."his indifference is selective rather than total"这个短语把整个推理压缩成一个紧凑的名词短语,比6.5分答案那种更完整的"so"分句展现出更大的语言广度,而结尾的片段句则增添了一种自然的口语化收尾感。

I disagree, but with a caveat. My father can't name a single current singer and finds celebrity gossip genuinely baffling, yet he'll read every word about the national football coach, so his indifference is selective rather than total. I think almost everyone has some famous person they follow — it might be an athlete, a scientist or a chef rather than a film star. What varies is whether they'd admit it's the same instinct. Then there are people who really do avoid all of it, usually because they find the whole system of fame slightly distasteful, and I have some sympathy with that. So most people, not everyone, and rarely for the same reasons.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCSo most people, not everyone, and rarely for the same reasons. This closing sentence is a deliberate fragment without a main verb, summarising the whole answer in a compact, confident way. A 6.5 answer would more likely spell this out as a fuller sentence, such as 'So it is most people, not everyone, and usually not for the same reasons'.这句结尾是一个刻意为之、没有主要动词的片段句,以紧凑而自信的方式总结了整篇答案。6.5分的答案更可能把它完整地写成一个句子,比如"So it is most people, not everyone, and usually not for the same reasons"。
    • LRfinds celebrity gossip genuinely baffling'Genuinely baffling' is a more precise, natural-sounding phrase than the plainer 'really strange' a 6.5 answer would use, capturing a stronger sense of confused incomprehension. It shows developing lexical precision."genuinely baffling"是一个比6.5分答案可能使用的更平实的"really strange"更精确、更自然的表达,能更强烈地传达出困惑不解的感觉,体现出词汇精确度的提升。
    • GRAso his indifference is selective rather than totalThis compact noun-based clause replaces a fuller explanatory sentence with a tight, abstract contrast ('selective rather than total'), rather than the 6.5 answer's longer explanation. This kind of economical noun-phrase contrast shows more grammatical range.这个紧凑的、以名词为核心的分句用一个紧凑、抽象的对比("selective rather than total")取代了更完整的解释性句子,而不是像6.5分答案那样进行更长的解释。这种经济的名词短语对比方式展现出更大的语法广度。

What varies is whether they'd admit it's the same instinct at work. 为什么是这个分数

    • FCMost people, then, not everyone, and rarely for the same reasons. The connector 'then' inside this final fragment signals a confident summarising conclusion drawn from everything just said, more integrated than a plain 'So' opener. A 6.5 or 7.0 answer would more likely begin this closing thought with the bare 'So' rather than this slightly more reflective 'then'.这个结尾片段中的连接词"then"标示出一个从前文所有内容中得出的、自信的总结性结论,比单纯的"So"开头更融为一体。6.5分或7.0分的答案更可能用干脆的"So"来开始这个收尾思考,而不是这个略带反思意味的"then"。
    • LRyet he'll devour every word about the national football coach'Devour' used figuratively for reading eagerly is a genuinely less common, vivid word choice than the plainer 'read' a lower band would use, suggesting real enthusiasm. It fits naturally with the contrast being drawn about selective interest."devour"被比喻性地用来表示急切地阅读,是一个真正不那么常见、更生动的用词,比低分答案可能使用的更平实的"read"更能体现出真正的热情。它与正在展开的关于"选择性兴趣"的对比十分契合。
    • GRAAlmost everyone, I'd argue, has some famous person they quietly follow — an athlete, a scientist, a chef, rather than necessarily a film star. The subject 'Almost everyone' is fronted with the aside 'I'd argue' inserted mid-sentence, and the dash launches a bare list of examples without a connecting word. This layered, flexible sentence-building is characteristic of the grammatical range expected at 7.5.主语"Almost everyone"被前置,插入语"I'd argue"嵌在句中,破折号则引出一串没有连接词的例子列表。这种层次分明、灵活的造句方式正是7.5分水平所期望具备的语法广度的特征。

Not anymore, and I am not sure they ever really did. A woman who sells bánh xèo in Da Nang became famous all over the country last year because of a ten-second video of her scolding a rude customer. It was funny, it spread quickly online, and for about a month she appeared on talk shows. There was no real talent involved, just being herself at the right moment. But I think lasting fame usually still needs something behind it, because the singers who are still famous after ten years can actually sing well. So talent is not needed to become famous, but it seems necessary to stay famous, and the internet has made the first part almost random.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCIt was funny, it spread quickly online, and for about a month she appeared on talk shows. This sentence repeats the same subject-verb pattern three times ('it was', 'it spread', 'she appeared'), joined with commas and 'and'. A band 7 answer would more likely vary this rhythm, replacing one of the repeated clauses with a shorter fragment or different structure like 'it went viral' for a punchier feel.这句话三次重复了同样的"主语+动词"结构("it was"、"it spread"、"she appeared"),用逗号和"and"连接。7分水平的答案更可能改变这种节奏,把其中一个重复的分句换成更短的片段或不同的结构,比如"it went viral",让语感更有力。
    • LRThere was no real talent involved, just being herself at the right moment. This is plain, direct phrasing. A higher band answer would likely tighten this into a more compact clause, such as 'no talent involved beyond being herself at the right moment', which reads as a single flowing idea rather than two separated statements.这是平实、直白的表达。更高分的答案很可能会把它收紧成一个更紧凑的分句,比如"no talent involved beyond being herself at the right moment"(除了在恰当时刻做自己之外没有任何才华可言),读起来是一个连贯的整体想法,而不是两个分开的陈述。
    • GRASo talent is not needed to become famous, but it seems necessary to stay famous, and the internet has made the first part almost random. This closing sentence uses the plain connector 'but' and 'and' to link three separate claims in sequence. A 7.5 answer would likely compress this using a semicolon between the first two contrasted ideas, tightening the parallel structure between 'become famous' and 'stay famous'.这句结尾用平实的连接词"but"和"and"依次连接三个独立的论断。7.5分的答案很可能会用分号把前两个形成对比的想法压缩连接起来,让"become famous"和"stay famous"之间的对仗结构更紧凑。

    • LRfor a month she was doing the rounds on talk shows'Doing the rounds' is a genuinely idiomatic phrase for appearing repeatedly across multiple shows, more vivid and natural than the plainer 'was on talk shows' a lower band would use. It suggests a circuit of appearances rather than a single static fact."doing the rounds"是一个真正地道的说法,用来表示反复出现在多个节目中,比低分答案可能用的更平实的"was on talk shows"更生动、更自然。它暗示了一连串的巡回亮相,而不是一个单一、静态的事实。
    • FCfunny, it went viral, and for a month she was doing the rounds on talk showsDropping the subject and verb from the first item ('funny' instead of 'it was funny') creates a punchier, more varied rhythm across the three-part list. There is also a visibility problem, because young people see famous people every single day but almost never see ordinary successful people, so fame looks like the only kind of success that exists. 为什么是这个分数

    • FCchecks his follower count the way my parents' generation checked exam resultsThis is a clear but fairly literal comparison using the repeated verb 'checked'. A band 7 answer would more likely vary the second half of this comparison, using a different verb like 'tracked' to avoid repetition while keeping the same meaning.这是一个清晰但相当直白的比较,重复使用了动词"checked"。7分水平的答案更可能在比较的后半部分做出变化,用像"tracked"这样不同的动词来避免重复,同时保留相同的意思。
    • LRIt also looks easy from the outsideThis is plain, general phrasing. A higher band answer would likely use a more precise, evaluative word for this appearance, describing fame as appearing 'effortless' rather than the more generic 'easy', which carries a slightly stronger, more specific connotation.这是平实、笼统的表达。更高分的答案很可能会用一个更精确、更具评价性的词来描述这种表象,把名气描述为看起来"effortless"(毫不费力),而不是更笼统的"easy",带有略强、更具体的意涵。

The dash-set list 'money, respect, being chosen' and the colon before the visibility problem show more flexible punctuation than a 6.5 answer's fuller connected sentences, while the word 'effortless' adds more precise vocabulary.用破折号引出的列表"money, respect, being chosen"以及"可见度问题"前的冒号,比6.5分答案那种更完整的连接句式展现出更灵活的标点运用,而"effortless"这个词则增添了更精准的色彩。

Because fame looks like the shortest route to everything else they want — money, respect, being chosen. My cousin Nam, who's sixteen, tracks his follower count the way my parents' generation tracked exam marks, and I don't think he wants fame exactly; he wants proof that he matters, and that's the proof his world offers. There's also a visibility problem: young people see famous people every day and see ordinary successful people almost never, so fame seems like the only model of success on display. And it appears effortless from the outside. Nobody posts the years of failure, so it looks like something that just happens to the lucky.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCThere's also a visibility problem: young people see famous people every day and see ordinary successful people almost neverThe colon launches directly into the explanation of the named problem, rather than chaining it on with 'because' as a 6.5 answer does. This shows a more efficient, natural way of introducing a supporting reason.冒号直接引出对所点明问题的解释,而不是像6.5分答案那样用"because"把它串接上去。这展现出一种更高效、更自然的方式来引出支持性理由。
    • LRit appears effortless from the outside'Effortless' is a more precise, single-word evaluative choice than the plainer 'looks easy' a 6.5 answer would use, conveying a stronger sense of apparent ease without visible struggle. It shows developing lexical precision."effortless"是一个更精确的单词评价性选择,比6.5分答案可能用的更平实的"looks easy"更能传达出一种看不见挣扎痕迹的轻松感。它体现出词汇精确度的提升。
    • GRAhe wants proof that he matters, and that's the proof his world offersThis sentence links two related clauses with 'and', repeating and extending the key word 'proof' across both halves rather than restating the whole idea. This kind of deliberate lexical repetition for cohesion is more sophisticated than a 6.5 answer's simpler, separate statements.这句话用"and"连接两个相关的分句,在前后两部分中重复并延伸关键词"proof",而不是重新表述整个想法。这种为了增强连贯性而刻意重复词汇的做法,比6.5分答案那种更简单、分开的陈述更为高明。

    为什么是这个分数

    • LRfame becomes the only model of success on permanent display'On permanent display' is a more vivid, precise extension of the idea than the plainer 'the only model of success that exists' a lower band would use, adding a visual, almost exhibition-like quality to the image. It reflects genuinely wide lexical resource."on permanent display"(永久展示)是对这个想法更生动、更精确的延伸,比低分答案可能用的更平实的"the only model of success that exists"多了一种视觉上、近乎展览般的质感。它体现出真正广博的词汇资源。
    • GRAsixteen and obsessively tracking his follower count the way my parents' generation tracked exam marksThis participial phrase ('sixteen and... tracking') attaches directly to 'My cousin Nam' without a relative pronoun like 'who is', compressing what a lower band would express as a full clause. This kind of participial compression is characteristic of the grammatical range expected at 7.5.这个分词短语("sixteen and... tracking")直接接在"My cousin Nam"后面,不需要像"who is"这样的关系代词,把低分答案会用完整分句表达的内容压缩了起来。这种分词压缩正是7.5分水平所期望具备的语法广度的特征。
    • FCAnd it looks effortless from the outside — nobody posts the years of failure, so it reads as something that simply happens to the lucky. The sentence opens with 'And' as a deliberate continuation fragment, then uses a dash to attach the supporting explanation in one flowing structure rather than starting fresh sentences. This confident, connector-light style is typical of the top band's coherence.这句话以"And"作为刻意延续的片段开头,然后用破折号把支持性解释接到同一个流畅的结构里,而不是重新开始新句子。这种自信、少用连接词的文风正是最高分水平在连贯性上的典型特征。

Fewer people, certainly, but probably not nobody. She stopped posting completely after that. This was only a small taste of fame, and it was already enough to put her off. I think most people would say no if they understood it clearly, because they would lose privacy, feel pressure to keep performing, and watch their friends change around them. 为什么是这个分数

    • FCThis was only a small taste of fame, and it was already enough to put her off. This sentence states the point directly with the plain connector 'and'. A band 7 answer would more likely phrase 'a small taste' more vividly, describing it as 'a tiny taste of fame', and fold the consequence into the same flowing clause rather than a separate connected statement.这句话用平实的连接词"and"直接表达了这一点。7分水平的答案更可能把"a small taste"表达得更生动,描述为"a tiny taste of fame"(名气的一丁点滋味),并把这个后果融入同一个流畅的分句中,而不是作为一个独立连接的陈述。
    • LRshe received more insults than praise'Insults' is plain, general vocabulary. A higher band answer would likely use a slightly stronger, more specific word for this kind of online hostility, such as 'abuse', which better captures the intensity of the experience being described."insults"是平实、笼统的词汇。更高分的答案很可能会用一个稍强、更具体的词来表达这种网络敌意,比如"abuse"(辱骂/网络暴力),它能更好地捕捉所描述经历的强烈程度。
    • GRAI think most people would say no if they understood it clearly, because they would lose privacy, feel pressure to keep performing, and watch their friends change around them. This sentence lists three consequences using a repeated verb pattern ('lose', 'feel', 'watch') joined by commas and 'and'. A 7.5 answer would likely convert this list into three short noun phrases instead, such as 'the loss of privacy, the pressure to keep performing, the way friends change around you', for a punchier structure.这句话用重复的动词模式("lose"、"feel"、"watch")列出了三个后果,由逗号和"and"连接。7.5分的答案很可能会把这个列表转换成三个简短的名词短语,比如"the loss of privacy, the pressure to keep performing, the way friends change around you",让结构更有力。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCThat's a tiny taste of fame, and it was enough to put her off.The demonstrative opener 'That's' ties this summarising sentence directly back to the previous example in a natural, spoken way. A 6.5 answer would more likely restate the idea more formally as 'This was only a small taste of fame', without the tighter, more conversational link.指示代词开头的"That's"以一种自然、口语化的方式,把这句总结性的话直接与前面的例子联系起来。6.5分的答案更可能用更正式的方式重新表述这个想法,如"This was only a small taste of fame",而没有这种更紧密、更口语化的衔接。
    • LRshe'd received more abuse than praise'Abuse' is a stronger, more precise word than the plainer 'insults' a 6.5 answer would use, better capturing the severity of sustained online hostility. This kind of noun-phrase listing is more compact and shows more grammatical range.这句话把后果列表转换成了冒号前的三个并列名词短语,而不是像6.5分答案那样用重复的动词模式。这种名词短语的列举方式更紧凑,展现出更大的语法广度。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCThe tragedy is that you only find out which type you are after the fact. The phrase 'after the fact' delivers the final, slightly poetic observation with idiomatic economy, closing the whole answer on a reflective, almost philosophical note. A 6.5 or 7.0 answer would more likely end with the plainer 'afterwards' instead of this more natural collocation."after the fact"以一种地道而简练的方式传达了最后这个略带诗意的观察,为整篇答案画上一个反思性、近乎哲学意味的句号。6.5分或7.0分的答案更可能用更平实的"afterwards"来结尾,而不是这个更自然的搭配。
    • LRit was enough to put her off for good'For good' is a genuinely idiomatic intensifier meaning permanently, adding emphasis that the plainer version without it lacks. It shows confident, natural use of a common but precise idiom."for good"是一个真正地道的强调语,意为"永久地",增添了没有它的更平实版本所缺乏的强调效果。它体现出对一个常见但精确的习语自信而自然的运用。
    • GRAThe loss of privacy, the relentless pressure to keep performing, the way friends quietly change around you: most people, I'd wager, would decline if they saw it clearly. This sentence fronts three parallel noun phrases before the colon and inserts the aside 'I'd wager' mid-clause rather than at the sentence's start, layering two flexible structures together. 为什么是这个分数

    • FChis story about training, setbacks, and refusing to be pitied really shaped how she deals with difficulty nowThis is a clear but fairly straightforward listing of three nouns before the main verb. A band 7 answer would more likely set the list off with a dash, treating it as an inserted aside within the sentence rather than a plain lead-in list.这是在主要动词前对三个名词相当直白的列举。7分水平的答案更可能用破折号把列表隔开,把它当作句中插入的补充说明,而不是平铺直叙的引导性列表。
    • LRtreating famous people as role models in general is a bit like a lottery'A bit like a lottery' is a common, everyday comparison. A higher band answer would likely make the same comparison more directly and confidently, calling it simply 'a lottery' without the softening 'a bit like', for a sharper, more precise claim."a bit like a lottery"是一个常见的日常比喻。更高分的答案很可能会更直接、更自信地做出同样的比较,干脆称之为"a lottery",不加"a bit like"这样的软化语,使论断更犀利、更精确。
    • GRAI would prefer young people to admire specific things famous people do, like their discipline or their craft, rather than admiring the whole person. This sentence uses the fuller phrase 'I would prefer young people to admire' before listing examples with 'like'. A 7.5 answer would likely compress this into a more direct recommendation, dropping 'I would prefer' in favour of a more confident, general statement.这句话用更完整的说法"I would prefer young people to admire",然后用"like"列出例子。7.5分的答案很可能会把它压缩成一个更直接的建议,去掉"I would prefer",换成更自信、更概括的陈述。

    为什么是这个分数

    • LRfame selects for looks, luck and charisma rather than for character'Selects for' is a more precise, almost scientific way of describing what fame tends to reward, compared to the plainer 'depends on' a 6.5 answer would use. This shows developing lexical precision in expressing an abstract process."selects for"是一种更精确、近乎科学化的方式,用来描述名气往往奖赏什么,相比之下6.5分答案可能用的是更平实的"depends on"。这体现出在表达抽象过程时词汇精确度的提升。
    • FCso treating famous people as role models by default is a lotteryCalling it directly 'a lottery' without the softening 'a bit like' shows a more confident, precise claim than a 6.5 answer's hedged comparison. This kind of direct, unhedged metaphor is a natural feature of band 7 fluency.直接称之为"a lottery",不加"a bit like"这样的软化语,比6.5分答案那种带有保留意味的比较展现出更自信、更精确的论断。这种直接、不加保留的隐喻是7分水平流利度的一个自然特征。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCtreating famous people as role models by default is little more than a lottery'Little more than' intensifies the comparison, presenting it as barely qualifying for anything better than chance, a more evaluative phrase than the plainer, unhedged 'is a lottery' a 7.0 answer uses. It gives the closing judgement extra sharpness."little more than"强化了这个比较,把它呈现为几乎算不上比运气更好的东西,比7.0分答案使用的更平实、不加保留的"is a lottery"更具评价色彩。它让结尾的判断多了一分犀利。
    • LRthan the people wholesale'Wholesale' used here to mean admiring someone entirely, without discrimination, is a genuinely less common, precise word choice borrowed from commercial language and applied metaphorically to admiration. A lower band would more likely use the plainer phrase 'the people themselves' instead.这里的"wholesale"意为完全地、不加辨别地崇拜某人,是一个真正不那么常见、精确的用词,借用自商业用语并隐喻性地用在"崇拜"上。低分答案更可能用更平实的说法"the people themselves"来代替。

This answer joins short, plain sentences with 'but' and 'so' to give a balanced opinion, a concrete example, and a simple final position, using everyday vocabulary.这篇答案用"but"和"so"连接简短平实的句子,给出一个平衡的观点、一个具体的例子,以及一个简单的最终立场,使用日常词汇。

I think it is a reasonable expectation, but not a good rule. A few years ago, a well-known singer raised money for flood victims in central Vietnam, and she collected more money in one day than the local charity managed in a whole year, which shows what fame can achieve when it is used for something. So I understand why people expect famous people to help. But obligation is a very strong word. Famous people did not agree to a contract with society, many of them are famous just for singing, and forcing them to also be moral leaders often creates clumsy activism that feels fake. I would say they have a chance most of us do not have, and it is admirable when they take it, but it is also fine when they do not.

    • FCforcing them to also be moral leaders often creates clumsy activism that feels fakeThis is a clear but fairly plain evaluative phrase. A band 7 answer would more likely use a more precise word than 'fake', describing the activism as 'self-serving' instead, which captures the specific motive being criticised rather than just its general falseness.这是一个清晰但相当平实的评价性短语。7分水平的答案更可能用一个比"fake"更精确的词,把这种行动主义描述为"self-serving"(自利的),从而捕捉到被批评的具体动机,而不只是笼统地说它虚假。
    • LRshe collected more money in one day than the local charity managed in a whole yearThis is clear, direct vocabulary. A higher band answer would likely use a slightly more natural, compact phrase for the same comparison, such as 'collected more in a day than the local charity managed in a year', tightening the wording without losing precision.这是清晰、直接的词汇。更高分的答案很可能会用一个稍微更自然、更紧凑的说法来表达同样的比较,比如"collected more in a day than the local charity managed in a year",在不失精确度的前提下让措辞更紧凑。
    • GRAFamous people did not agree to a contract with society, many of them are famous just for singing, and forcing them to also be moral leaders often creates clumsy activism that feels fake. This long sentence chains three separate ideas together with commas and 'and', which is accurate but somewhat linear. I think it's a reasonable expectation but a poor rule. When a well-known singer raised money for flood victims in central Vietnam a few years ago, she collected more in a day than the local charity managed in a year, which shows what fame can do when it's pointed at something. Famous people didn't sign a contract with society; many are famous for singing, and demanding they also be moral leaders often produces clumsy, self-serving activism. I'd say they have an opportunity most of us don't, and it's admirable when they take it and legitimate when they don't.

    • FCit's admirable when they take it and legitimate when they don'tThis closing sentence uses parallel structure to balance two contrasting outcomes in one tight clause, rather than the 6.5 answer's fuller, separately explained version. This kind of compact parallelism is a natural feature of band 7 coherence.这句结尾用对仗结构,在一个紧凑的分句里平衡了两个相互对照的结果,而不是像6.5分答案那样用更完整、分开解释的版本。这种紧凑的对仗是7分水平连贯性的一个自然特征。
    • LRdemanding they also be moral leaders often produces clumsy, self-serving activism'Self-serving' is a more precise, specific evaluative word than the plainer 'that feels fake' a 6.5 answer would use, naming the exact motive being criticised rather than just its general falseness. It shows developing lexical precision."self-serving"是一个比6.5分答案可能使用的更平实的"that feels fake"更精确、更具体的评价性用词,直接点明了被批评的确切动机,而不只是笼统地说它虚假。它体现出词汇精确度的提升。
    • GRAFamous people didn't sign a contract with society; many are famous for singing, and demanding they also be moral leaders often produces clumsy, self-serving activism. The semicolon joins the first two closely related ideas into one sentence, avoiding the repeated commas and 'and' a 6.5 answer's fuller three-part chain uses. This shows more flexible punctuation-based sentence-building.分号把前两个密切相关的想法连接成一个句子,避免了6.5分答案那种更完整的三部分连锁结构中重复出现的逗号和"and"。这展现出更灵活的、依靠标点构建句子的方式。

The dropped verb in 'entirely legitimate when they don't' and the fronted opener 'A reasonable expectation, I'd say, but a poor rule' show the compressed, flexible grammar typical of band 7.5, alongside the precise verb 'seize'.在"entirely legitimate when they don't"中省略动词,以及前置开头"A reasonable expectation, I'd say, but a poor rule",展现出7.5分典型的凝练、灵活的语法,再加上精确的动词"seize"。

A reasonable expectation, I'd say, but a poor rule. When a well-known singer raised money for flood victims in central Vietnam a few years back, she collected more in a day than the local charity managed in a year, which shows exactly what fame can do once it's pointed at something worthwhile. So I understand the expectation. But obligation is a strong word. Famous people never signed a contract with society; many are famous purely for singing, and demanding they double as moral leaders often produces clumsy, self-serving activism. They have an opportunity most of us don't, I'd argue, and it's admirable when they seize it, entirely legitimate when they don't.

    • FCA reasonable expectation, I'd say, but a poor rule. This opening fragment drops the subject and verb entirely, jumping straight into the evaluative noun phrases with the aside 'I'd say' inserted mid-sentence. A 6.5 or 7.0 answer would more likely open with a full sentence like 'I think it's a reasonable expectation but a poor rule' instead.这个开头片段完全省略了主语和动词,直接跳进评价性的名词短语,插入语"I'd say"嵌在句中。6.5分或7.0分的答案更可能用完整的句子开头,如"I think it's a reasonable expectation but a poor rule"。
    • LRit's admirable when they seize it, entirely legitimate when they don't'Seize' is a genuinely more vivid, active verb than the plainer 'take' a lower band would use, suggesting decisive action rather than passive acceptance. It fits naturally with the confident, evaluative tone of the closing sentence."seize"是一个真正更生动、更主动的动词,比低分答案可能用的更平实的"take"更能暗示果断的行动,而不是被动的接受。它与结尾句自信、评价性的语气十分契合。
    • GRAit's admirable when they seize it, entirely legitimate when they don'tThis closing sentence drops the repeated verb 'it's' before 'entirely legitimate', relying on the parallel structure alone to carry the meaning. This kind of verb-ellipsis across a parallel contrast is characteristic of the grammatical range expected at 7.5.这句结尾在"entirely legitimate"之前省略了重复的动词"it's",完全依靠对仗结构来传达意思。这种在对比对仗中省略动词的方式正是7.5分水平所期望具备的语法广度的特征。

This answer joins short, separate ideas with 'and' and 'but' in plain sentences, giving a concrete example and a simple final contrast, in everyday vocabulary.这篇答案用"and"和"but"把简短、独立的想法连接成平实的句子,给出一个具体的例子和一个简单的最终对比,全部使用日常词汇。

In a narrow way, I think a few of them do. When a certain tech billionaire posts an opinion online, markets react and millions of people change what they believe within a day, and no government minister in my country has that kind of immediate reach. Celebrities can also shift what people pay attention to, and attention is a kind of power that governments spend huge amounts of money trying to get. But it is a shallow kind of power. A famous person cannot build a road, pass a law, or force anyone to do anything, they can only make people want to. And it is unstable too, because one scandal can make it disappear. So they can rival governments in what people think about, but almost never in what actually happens.

    • FCattention is a kind of power that governments spend huge amounts of money trying to getThis is plain, direct phrasing describing an abstract idea. A band 7 answer would more likely use a more precise verb for this relationship, describing governments as spending money 'trying to buy' attention, which frames it as a purchasable resource more sharply.这是描述一个抽象想法时平实、直接的表达。7分水平的答案更可能用一个更精确的动词来表达这种关系,把政府描述为花钱"trying to buy"(试图购买)关注度,更犀利地把它塑造成一种可以购买的资源。
    • LRA famous person cannot build a road, pass a law, or force anyone to do anything, they can only make people want to.This is a clear but fairly plain list of three verbs joined with commas and 'or'. A higher band answer would likely use a semicolon before the contrasting final clause instead of a comma, giving the sentence a tighter, more deliberate structural break.这是三个动词用逗号和"or"连接的清晰但相当平实的列举。更高分的答案很可能会在与之对照的最后一个分句前用分号而不是逗号,让句子的结构断点更紧凑、更刻意。
    • GRASo they can rival governments in what people think about, but almost never in what actually happens. This closing sentence uses the plain connector 'but' to join two parallel prepositional phrases. A 7.5 answer would likely replace 'but almost never' with 'while having almost none over', creating a more compressed, less repetitive parallel structure.这句结尾用平实的连接词"but"连接两个并列的介词短语。7.5分的答案很可能会把"but almost never"换成"while having almost none over",创造出一个更凝练、重复度更低的并列结构。
    7.0 分

The dash before the minister comparison and the semicolon before 'they can only make people want to' show more flexible punctuation than a 6.5 answer's plainer connected sentences, while 'trying to buy' adds a more precise, economic framing.在"部长"比较之前的破折号,以及在"they can only make people want to"之前的分号,比6.5分答案更平实的连接句式展现出更灵活的标点运用,而"trying to buy"则增添了更精确的经济学色彩。

In a narrow sense, a few of them do. When a certain tech billionaire posts an opinion, markets move and millions of people adjust what they believe overnight — no minister in my country has that kind of immediate reach. Celebrities can shift attention, and attention is a form of power that governments spend enormous sums trying to buy. But it's a shallow kind of power. A famous person can't build a road, pass a law, or make anyone do anything; they can only make people want to. And it's unstable — one scandal and it evaporates. 为什么是这个分数

    • LRattention is a form of power that governments spend enormous sums trying to buy'Trying to buy' frames attention explicitly as a purchasable resource, a more precise and pointed economic metaphor than the plainer 'trying to get' a 6.5 answer would use. It shows developing precision in expressing an abstract relationship."trying to buy"明确地把关注度塑造成一种可购买的资源,比6.5分答案可能用的更平实的"trying to get"更精确、更有针对性,是一个经济学隐喻。它体现出在表达抽象关系时精确度的提升。
    • FCone scandal and it evaporatesThis short, punchy clause drops the conditional 'if' entirely, relying on the juxtaposition alone to imply cause and effect, a more confident, compact structure than a 6.5 answer's fuller 'because one scandal can make it disappear'. This kind of implied conditional is a natural feature of band 7 fluency.这个简短有力的分句完全省略了条件连接词"if",单靠并置就暗示了因果关系,比6.5分答案更完整的"because one scandal can make it disappear"展现出更自信、更紧凑的结构。这种隐含的条件句是7分水平流利度的一个自然特征。
    • GRAA famous person can't build a road, pass a law, or make anyone do anything; they can only make people want to.The semicolon replaces the comma a 6.5 answer uses before the contrasting final clause, giving the sentence a sharper structural break between the list of impossibilities and the actual capability. This shows more deliberate control over punctuation and sentence-building.分号取代了6.5分答案在与之对照的最后分句前使用的逗号,让句子在"做不到的事"列表和"实际能力"之间的结构断点更清晰。这展现出对标点和造句更刻意的掌控。

    为什么是这个分数

    • LRno minister in my country wields that kind of immediate reach'Wields' is a genuinely less common, more powerful verb than the plainer 'has' a lower band would use, evoking the image of power being actively exercised like a weapon or tool. It gives the sentence a more precise, almost literary edge."wields"是一个真正不那么常见、更有力的动词,比低分答案可能用的更平实的"has"更能唤起一种权力像武器或工具一样被主动行使的意象。它让句子多了一分精确、近乎文学化的锋芒。
    • GRABut it's a shallow kind of power: a famous person can't build a road, pass a law, or make anyone do anything; they can only make people want to.This sentence uses both a colon and a semicolon within one continuous structure, launching the explanation with the colon and then sharpening the internal contrast with the semicolon. This layered, multi-punctuation control is characteristic of the grammatical range expected at 7.5.这句话在一个连续的结构里同时使用了冒号和分号,先用冒号引出解释,再用分号把内部的对比表达得更犀利。这种分层、多重标点的掌控正是7.5分水平所期望具备的语法广度的特征。
    • FCone scandal and it evaporates entirelyThe added intensifier 'entirely' sharpens the finality of the claim beyond the 7.0 version's plainer 'it evaporates', giving the observation a more emphatic, confident edge. This small addition shows a more deliberate, evaluative use of language.新加入的强调语"entirely"让这个论断的终结性比7.0版本更平实的"it evaporates"更加犀利,让这个观察多了一分强调、自信的锋芒。这个小小的增添展现出更刻意、更具评价性的语言运用。
