The reaction to the crowd is explained with a simple, direct contrast ('I usually go... when it is quiet, so seeing it so crowded... was strange'), clear but without much elaboration.对拥挤场面的反应用一个简单直接的对比来解释("我平时去……都是清静的时候,所以看到那么拥挤……感觉很奇怪"),清楚但展开不多。

A crowded place I remember well is My Khe Beach here in Da Nang. I went there on the 30th of April this year, which is a public holiday in Vietnam, so a lot of people had free time to go to the beach.

I went with my colleague Khanh, and we planned to just relax and swim for a bit in the morning. But when we arrived, the beach was already full of people. There were families with big umbrellas and picnic mats, groups of teenagers playing football near the water, and vendors walking up and down selling grilled corn and coconuts. It was hard to even find a free spot to put our things down, and the water itself was full of people swimming close together.

To be honest, I felt a bit uncomfortable with so many people around. I usually go to that beach early in the morning when it is quiet, so seeing it so crowded and noisy was strange for me. Khanh did not mind it as much and said it felt festive. We only stayed for about an hour before deciding to leave and get some iced coffee instead. It was memorable, but I would not choose to go on a holiday again.

  • GRAIt was hard to even find a free spot to put our things downThe sentence uses a plain 'it was hard to' construction to state the problem directly, without any subordinating connector explaining why it was hard, which matches the 6.5 descriptor's preference for mostly simple sentence patterns. It communicates the overcrowding at My Khe Beach on the holiday clearly and accurately, giving one concrete piece of evidence for the general claim that the beach was full.这句话用一个简单的'it was hard to'结构直接陈述问题,没有任何从属连接词来解释为什么难,这符合6.5分描述语偏好以简单句型为主的特点。它清楚准确地传达了假期期间美溪海滩人满为患的情况,为"海滩很挤"这一整体论断提供了一个具体的佐证。
  • FCI usually go to that beach early in the morning when it is quiet, so seeing it so crowded and noisy was strange for me.The contrast between the speaker's usual quiet visits and this crowded one is stated directly, with 'so' linking the observation to the feeling, but the point isn't developed any further with an example or reflection, which is the single-point-with-minimal-elaboration pattern the 6.5 fluency descriptor describes. A 7.0 answer would more likely add a specific detail about what made the noise or crowd uncomfortable, but here the plain contrast is enough to explain the reaction.说话者平时安静的到访经历与这次拥挤情形之间的对比被直接陈述出来,用'so'把这个观察和感受连接起来,但这一点并没有再用例子或反思进一步展开,这正是6.5分流利度描述语所描述的"单一要点、极少展开"的模式。7.0分的答案更可能会补充一个具体细节,说明是什么让噪音或人群变得让人不舒服,但这里这种简单的对比已足以解释说话者的反应。
  • LRWe only stayed for about an hour before deciding to leaveThe narration here uses only the most ordinary vocabulary -- 'stayed', 'decided', 'leave' -- with no attempt at a more vivid verb or collocation that a higher band might reach for, which is exactly the plain, safe wording the 6.5 lexical descriptor expects. It states the outcome of the crowded beach visit clearly and moves the story to its close without any elaboration.这里的叙述只用了最普通的词汇——'stayed'、'decided'、'leave'——没有尝试用更生动的动词或搭配,而这类表达是更高分段可能会去追求的,这正是6.5分词汇描述语所期待的那种朴实、稳妥的用词。它清楚地陈述了这次拥挤海滩之行的结果,并把故事推向结尾,没有任何进一步展开。

The purpose clause 'so the queue wouldn't back up even further' and the pivot introduced by 'That said' show accurate, natural complex-sentence and connector use, above 6.5 without the sensory density of 7.5.目的从句"so the queue wouldn't back up even further"(免得队伍越积越长)以及由"That said"(话虽如此)引出的转折,都展现出准确自然的复合句与连接词运用,水平高于6.5,但还未达到7.5那种感官细节的密度。

A place I remember being really crowded was Ba Na Hills, just outside Da Nang, which I visited with my cousin during the national holiday in early September last year. We knew it would be busy, but we still underestimated just how many people would be there.

We arrived around nine in the morning, thinking we'd beaten the rush, but the queue for the cable car alone stretched almost the whole length of the car park, with families, tour groups, and couples all waiting under the sun. Once we finally got up to the top, the Golden Bridge area was so packed that we were basically shuffling forward in a slow-moving line just to take a photo, with people's elbows and selfie sticks everywhere around us. Every viewing spot along the bridge had a small crowd waiting to use it, and staff were constantly asking people to keep moving so the queue wouldn't back up even further.

Honestly, my cousin found the whole thing a bit stressful, since she doesn't really like being squeezed in with that many strangers, and I have to admit the constant pushing and waiting wore me down after a while too. That said, once we got past the busiest section and found a quieter path through the flower gardens, it started to feel worth it, and we ended up staying for most of the day anyway.

Looking back, I wouldn't choose to go on a national holiday again if I could help it, but the views from the top were impressive enough that I don't regret going, crowds and all.

  • LRwe were basically shuffling forward in a slow-moving line just to take a photo'Shuffling forward' is a common but vivid collocation for describing a slow-moving crowd, adding physical texture beyond a plain verb like 'waiting' or 'queuing' that a 6.5 answer would use for the same Golden Bridge scene. It's a safe, natural choice rather than an unusual one, which is exactly the small step above plain vocabulary the 7.0 lexical descriptor targets, without the risk a more idiomatic phrase might carry.'Shuffling forward'是一个常见却生动的搭配,用来描述缓慢移动的人群,比6.5分答案在描述金桥同一场景时会用的简单动词'waiting'或'queuing'更具身体质感。这是一个安全、自然的选择,而非罕见的表达,正是7.0分词汇描述所瞄准的那种略微超出朴素词汇的小步提升,同时又不带有更地道表达可能带来的风险。
  • GRAstaff were constantly asking people to keep moving so the queue wouldn't back up even furtherThe purpose clause 'so the queue wouldn't back up even further' correctly uses the negative modal 'wouldn't' to express an avoided consequence, a slightly more demanding structure than a simple 'because' clause, handled accurately within the comfortable complex range the 7.0 grammar descriptor describes. It also adds a concrete operational detail about crowd management at Ba Na Hills rather than just stating that the place was busy.目的从句'so the queue wouldn't back up even further'正确使用了否定情态动词'wouldn't'来表达一个被避免的后果,这比简单的'because'从句要求略高一些的结构,在7.0分语法描述所说的那种从容的复杂句范围内被准确处理。它也补充了一个关于巴拿山(Ba Na Hills)人群管理的具体运营细节,而不仅仅是说那里很拥挤。
  • FCThat said, once we got past the busiest section and found a quieter path through the flower gardens, it started to feel worth it'That said' signals an explicit pivot from complaint to a more positive turn in the story, giving the narrative a clear shift rather than letting the negative and positive parts sit side by side without connection -- the kind of natural spoken linking the 7.0 fluency descriptor rewards over the plainer connectors a 6.5 answer would use. It also sets up the answer's balanced final judgement about the crowded but ultimately worthwhile trip.'That said'明确标示出从抱怨转向故事中更积极转折的过渡,让叙述有一个清晰的转变,而不是让消极和积极的部分毫无联系地并列在一起——这正是7.0分流利度描述所看重的那种自然的口语连接方式,胜过6.5分答案会用的更平淡的连接词。它也为答案最后关于"拥挤但最终值得"的平衡性结论做了铺垫。
7.5 分

The sentence blending smell and sound ('The smell of fresh herbs and spices mixed with the sound of people bargaining') and the balanced concessive closing sentence both show the more sophisticated grammatical range typical of Band 7.5.融合嗅觉与听觉的句子("新鲜香草和香料的气味混杂着人们讨价还价的声音")以及结构对称的让步结尾句,都体现出Band 7.5典型的更为精巧的语法范围。

One crowded place that really stands out for me is Han Market, right here in Da Nang. I went there last year during the Tet holiday, which is basically the busiest time of the year. My friend Linh had come from Hanoi to visit, and she really wanted to try some authentic local food and get a few souvenirs for her family. So, we decided to go to Han Market together on the second day of Tet.

Honestly, I was not prepared for just how packed it would be. We arrived around 10 in the morning, and it was already shoulder-to-shoulder inside. The smell of fresh herbs and spices mixed with the sound of people bargaining in every direction. I remember squeezing past stalls selling bánh bèo and dried fruits, and then almost getting lost in the crowd in front of the fabric section. Linh and I stuck close together so we wouldn't get separated, but at one point she got distracted by some silk scarves and I had to call her name three times before she turned around-typical of me, I always worry about losing people in crowds.

To be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of cramped spaces, and the noise was a bit overwhelming after an hour. Still, there was something exciting about the energy there, especially with everyone buying food and gifts for their families. We ended up buying some chè and bánh lọc to eat by the river later, which was a nice way to unwind after the chaos. I wouldn't say I love crowded places, but experiencing the market at Tet was definitely memorable and gave me a real sense of local life.

  • LRThe smell of fresh herbs and spices mixed with the sound of people bargaining in every direction. The sentence deliberately layers two sensory channels — smell ('fresh herbs and spices') and sound ('people bargaining in every direction') — inside one image rather than describing them in separate sentences, producing a denser, more evocative picture of the market than a plain visual description would. That kind of layered, precise sensory detail is the 'several precise or less-common words... used naturally' the Band 7.5 lexical target rewards, where a 6.5 answer would more likely just say 'it was noisy and crowded.' Placing this sentence right after 'shoulder-to-shoulder inside' also builds the scene cinematically, moving from the crush of bodies to the specific sensations that made the crowd feel overwhelming rather than just busy.
  • FCtypical of me, I always worry about losing people in crowdsThe aside interrupts the story of calling Linh's name to step outside the anecdote and comment on the speaker's own personality — 'typical of me' — a self-aware evaluative move a plainer answer would skip in favour of just continuing the narrative. This kind of reflective layering is what the Band 7.5 coherence target means by going beyond description, since it shows the speaker interpreting their own behaviour rather than only reporting events. It also quietly sets up the answer's later concession about not liking crowded spaces, so the aside is an early thread the ending returns to rather than a throwaway comment.
  • GRAI wouldn't say I love crowded places, but experiencing the market at Tet was definitely memorable and gave me a real sense of local life. The sentence balances a concessive negative ('I wouldn't say I love crowded places') against a positive coordinated clause ('but... was definitely memorable and gave me a real sense of local life'), controlling two contrasting ideas inside one accurate, unbroken sentence. That kind of concessive balance is a more sophisticated structure than the simple 'but' contrasts a 6.5 answer typically manages, fulfilling the Band 7.5 grammar target's call for varied, mostly error-free complex structures used for genuine effect. The concession also lets the answer end on a nuanced, honest verdict — not loving crowds but still valuing the experience — rather than a flat positive or negative conclusion.这句话在让步式的否定('I wouldn't say I love crowded places')与并列的肯定分句('but... was definitely memorable and gave me a real sense of local life')之间取得了平衡,在一句准确、完整的话里驾驭了两种相互对照的想法。这种让步式的平衡结构比6.5分答案通常能驾驭的简单'but'对比要精巧得多,满足了7.5分语法目标对多样且基本无误、并真正发挥效果的复杂结构的要求。这种让步也让答案得以以一个有细微差别、诚实的结论收尾——不喜欢人群拥挤,却依然珍视这段经历——而不是一个非黑即白的正面或负面结论。

    6.5 分

The 6.5 answer lists crowded places one by one, each backed by a short, plain example, and closes with the simple summarising connector 'So basically'.6.5分的回答逐一列出了拥挤的地方,每一处都用一个简短、平实的例子来支撑,并以简单的总结连接词'So basically'收尾。

In Vietnam, markets and city centres are usually the most crowded, especially at meal times or during festivals. For example, Han Market in Da Nang gets very busy most mornings, with sellers, shoppers and motorbikes all in the same small streets. Bus stations are crowded too, especially around Tet, when millions of people travel home. Famous places like Dragon Bridge or Ba Na Hills are also busy at weekends. So basically, anywhere with shopping, travel or sightseeing gets crowded quickly here.

    • FCSo basically, anywhere with shopping, travel or sightseeing gets crowded quickly here.A plain, direct summary sentence tacked on at the end to round the list off. A 7.0 or 7.5 answer would more likely build this generalisation into the flow of the answer itself rather than adding it as a separate final line.一个平实、直接的结尾句被加在最后,用来收尾整个列表。7.0分或7.5分的回答更可能会把这个概括性总结建构进回答本身的行文中,而不是把它加成一句独立的结尾。
    • LRwith sellers, shoppers and motorbikes all in the same small streetsA plain, literal list of who and what is present. A higher band would likely use a more vivid verb, such as people and vehicles 'competing for the same narrow lanes', to make the same crowding feel more physical.一个平实、字面化的列表,列出了谁和什么东西在场。更高分段可能会用一个更生动的动词,比如人和车辆'competing for the same narrow lanes'(争抢同样狭窄的车道),让同样的拥挤感更具身体感。
    • GRABus stations are crowded too, especially around Tet, when millions of people travel homeA simple main clause with a when-clause tagged on, safe but plain. A 7.5 answer would be more likely to compress the timing detail into a tighter phrase rather than a full separate clause.一个简单的主句加上一个附带的when从句,安全但平淡。7.5分的回答更可能会把这个时间细节压缩成一个更紧凑的短语,而不是一个完整的独立从句。
    7.0 分

The 7.0 answer softens the opening with 'honestly' and upgrades the plain list into the natural collocation 'competing for the same narrow lanes', linking cause and effect with 'since' in the final sentence.7.0分的回答用'honestly'软化了开头,并把这个平实的列表升级成了自然的搭配'competing for the same narrow lanes',在结尾句用'since'把因果关系连接起来。

Markets and city centres tend to be the most crowded places here, honestly, especially around meal times or festivals. Han Market in Da Nang, for instance, gets packed most mornings, with vendors, shoppers and motorbikes all competing for the same narrow lanes. Transport hubs get busy too, particularly around Tet, when millions of people travel back to their hometowns at once. Tourist spots like Dragon Bridge or Ba Na Hills are also crowded at weekends, when locals and visitors both show up. Shopping malls fill up in the evenings as well, since people go there to cool off and eat dinner.

    • FCMarkets and city centres tend to be the most crowded places here, honestlyThe spoken filler 'honestly' inserted mid-sentence gives the opening a more natural, conversational rhythm than the flatter, unhedged opening statement a 6.5 answer would use for the same claim.这个插入在句中的口语填充词'honestly',比6.5分回答对同一论断会用的更平淡、没有缓和语的开头陈述,让开头展现出更自然、更接近对话的节奏。
    • LRall competing for the same narrow lanesA more vivid, natural collocation than 6.5's plain 'all in the same small streets', with 'competing for' suggesting real physical pressure rather than simply listing who is present.这是一个比6.5分中平实的'all in the same small streets'更生动、更自然的搭配,'competing for'暗示了真实的物理压力,而不只是简单地列出谁在场。
    • GRAShopping malls fill up in the evenings as well, since people go there to cool off and eat dinnerA since-clause explains the reason within the same sentence, a slightly more developed structure than the plain when-clause pattern repeated through the 6.5 answer.一个since从句在同一句话中解释了原因,比整个6.5分回答中反复出现的平实when从句模式适度更有发展。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer drops the connecting verb in 'vendors, shoppers and motorbikes all jostling' for a compact appositive, uses the less common verb 'jostling', and closes on the tidy, slightly aphoristic 'Crowding here...tends to follow food, festivals and free time.'7.5分的回答在'vendors, shoppers and motorbikes all jostling'中去掉了连接动词,改用一个紧凑的同位语,用了较少见的动词'jostling',并以整齐、略带格言色彩的'Crowding here...tends to follow food, festivals and free time'收尾。

Markets and city centres are usually the most crowded spots in Vietnam, especially around mealtimes or festivals. Han Market here in Da Nang gets packed most mornings, vendors, shoppers and motorbikes all jostling for the same narrow lanes. Transport hubs get crowded too, particularly around national holidays like Tet, when millions travel back to their hometowns within the space of a few days. Landmarks such as Dragon Bridge or Ba Na Hills draw sizeable crowds at weekends, once locals and tourists alike descend on them. Malls like Vincom fill up come evening as well, largely because people head there to escape the heat and grab dinner before going home. Crowding here, in short, tends to follow food, festivals and free time.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCCrowding here, in short, tends to follow food, festivals and free time.A compact closing generalisation that ties the whole list together with light alliteration, giving the answer a deliberate sense of shape. A 6.5 answer ends on a similar idea but as a flatter, unadorned summary sentence.一个简练的结尾概括,用轻微的头韵把整个列表串联在一起,给这个回答带来了一种刻意的形态感。6.5分的回答会以一个类似的想法结尾,但只是一句更平淡、没有修饰的总结句。
    • LRvendors, shoppers and motorbikes all jostling for the same narrow lanesThe less common verb 'jostling' captures the physical crowding far more precisely than the plain 'competing' or 'in the same small streets' a lower band would use.较少见的动词'jostling'比较低分段会用的平实的'competing'或'in the same small streets',更精准地捕捉到了那种身体上的拥挤感。

The 6.5 answer answers directly with 'Yes, it can be' and gives one plain example about the fireworks crowd, using short sentences and the basic connector 'but' to introduce the limit on that excitement.6.5分的回答用'Yes, it can be'直接回答,并给出了一个关于烟花人群的平实例子,用短句和基本连接词'but'来引出这种兴奋感的限度。

Yes, it can be, at least for a while. A crowded place has a kind of energy — noise, movement, everyone doing something together — that a quiet place doesn't have. I remember watching fireworks with a big crowd by the Han River on New Year's Eve, and counting down together made it feel more exciting. But that feeling doesn't last long for me. After about twenty minutes of being pushed around by a crowd, I usually want to leave. So it's exciting for a short time, not all the time.

    是的,可以,至少一段时间之内是这样。拥挤的地方有一种独特的活力——噪音、动态、每个人都在一起做点什么——这是安静的地方所没有的。我记得除夕夜和一大群人在韩江边看烟花,大家一起倒数让那一刻感觉更加激动人心。但这种感觉对我来说不会持续太久。被人群推挤大约二十分钟之后,我通常就想离开了。所以它只在短时间内令人兴奋,不是一直都这样。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCBut that feeling doesn't last long for me.A short, plain sentence used to pivot to the limitation of the idea. A 7.0 or 7.5 answer would more likely use a more natural spoken connector such as 'That said' in this position instead of the bare 'But'.一个简短、平实的句子,用来转向这个想法的局限性。7.0分或7.5分的回答更可能会在这个位置用一个更自然的口语连接词,比如'That said',而不是干巴巴的'But'。
    • LRbeing pushed around by a crowdA plain, literal phrase describing physical discomfort. A higher band would likely choose a more idiomatic phrase like being 'pushed along by strangers' or 'swept up in the crowd', adding more texture to the same sensation.一个平实、字面化的短语,描述了身体上的不适感。更高分段可能会选用更地道的短语,比如被'pushed along by strangers'或'swept up in the crowd',为同样的感受增添更多质感。
    • GRAI remember watching fireworks with a big crowd by the Han River on New Year's Eve, and counting down together made it feel more excitingTwo ideas joined with 'and' in a fairly plain coordinated structure. A 7.5 answer would be more likely to use a participial phrase to fuse the two ideas more tightly together.两个想法用'and'连接,是相当平实的并列结构。7.5分的回答更可能会用一个分词短语,把这两个想法更紧密地融合在一起。
    7.0 分

The 7.0 answer uses the natural spoken pivot 'That said' instead of a plain 'But', and adds a semicolon to link the wearing-off of excitement to its cause in a single flowing sentence.7.0分的回答用自然的口语转折'That said'取代了平实的'But',并加了一个分号,在一个流畅的句子里把兴奋感的消退和它的原因连接了起来。

It can be, yes, at least for a while. There's a certain energy to a packed place — the noise, the movement, everyone doing something at once — that a quiet space just doesn't have. I remember being part of the crowd watching fireworks over the Han River on New Year's Eve, and everyone counting down together made the moment feel bigger than it would have alone. That said, the excitement wears off fairly quickly for me; after twenty minutes or so of being pushed along, I'm usually looking for a way out. So it's exciting in short bursts, rather than something I'd want constantly.

    • FCThat said, the excitement wears off fairly quickly for meA natural spoken qualifier that shifts the argument more smoothly than 6.5's blunt 'But that feeling doesn't last long for me', showing a slightly more fluent handling of contrasting ideas.一个自然的口语限定语,比6.5分中直白的'But that feeling doesn't last long for me'更顺畅地转变了论证方向,展现出对相反想法处理得更流利一些。
    • LReveryone counting down together made the moment feel bigger than it would have aloneA more developed, natural phrase than 6.5's plain 'made it feel more exciting', with 'made the moment feel bigger' adding a touch more nuance to the same idea.一个比6.5分中平实的'made it feel more exciting'更充分发展、更自然的短语,'made the moment feel bigger'为同样的想法增添了一丝更细腻的层次。
    • GRAthe excitement wears off fairly quickly for me; after twenty minutes or so of being pushed along, I'm usually looking for a way outA semicolon links two closely related clauses into a single flowing sentence, more structurally developed than the short, separate sentences a 6.5 answer uses for the same content.一个分号把两个紧密相关的小句连接成一个流畅的句子,比6.5分回答对同样内容用的简短独立句子在结构上更有发展。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer uses the idiomatic 'swept up in the crowd' and a participial phrase ('the shared countdown making the moment feel...') instead of a plain and-clause, closing on the vivid image of excitement as 'a constant backdrop to daily life'.7.5分的回答用了地道的'swept up in the crowd',以及一个分词短语('the shared countdown making the moment feel...')来取代平实的and从句,并以兴奋感作为'a constant backdrop to daily life'(日常生活的恒定背景)这一生动意象收尾。

It can be, yes, at least for a while. There's a particular energy to a packed place — the noise, the movement, everyone doing something at once — that a quiet space simply can't match. I remember being swept up in the crowd watching fireworks over the Han River on New Year's Eve, the shared countdown making the moment feel far bigger than it would have alone. That excitement wears off fairly fast for me, though; after twenty minutes of being pushed along by strangers, I'm usually scanning for a way out. So it's exciting in short bursts, I'd say, rather than something I'd want as a constant backdrop to daily life.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCSo it's exciting in short bursts, I'd say, rather than something I'd want as a constant backdrop to daily life. The closing point is extended into a fuller, more vivid image than the plainer bands' closing statements, giving the answer a deliberate, considered final shape rather than a flat restatement.这个结尾观点被延伸成了一个比较低分段结尾陈述更充分、更生动的意象,给这个回答带来了一种刻意的、经过深思的最终形态,而不是一句平淡的重述。
    • LRbeing swept up in the crowdA vivid, idiomatic phrase in place of the plainer 'being part of the crowd' or 'watching fireworks with a big crowd' a lower band would use, conveying motion and loss of control more precisely.一个生动、地道的短语,取代了较低分段会用的更平淡的'being part of the crowd'或'watching fireworks with a big crowd',更精准地传达出了那种运动感和失控感。

The 6.5 answer gives a short direct reason, one plain example about Trang, and lists two more points with 'too' and 'as well' before a simple closing sentence.6.5分的回答给出了一个简短直接的理由、一个关于Trang的平实例子,并用'too'和'as well'列出了另外两点,最后以一句简单的结尾收尾。

Mainly for comfort, I think, and a better experience. Popular places can be so crowded that you spend more time queuing than enjoying them, so going early or on a weekday helps avoid that. My colleague Trang always plans her Ba Na Hills trips on a Tuesday instead of a weekend, just to skip the long cable car lines. Taking photos is easier too, without lots of strangers in the background. Sometimes prices are lower as well. So really, people just want a calmer visit.

    我觉得主要是为了舒适度和更好的体验。热门的地方可能会拥挤到你花在排队上的时间比享受它的时间还多,所以早点去或者选工作日去能避开这种情况。我同事Trang总是把她去巴拿山的行程安排在周二而不是周末,就是为了避开长长的缆车队伍。拍照也更容易,背景里不会有一堆陌生人。有时候价格也会更便宜。所以说到底,人们只是想要一次更平静的游览。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCSo really, people just want a calmer visit.A plain, short closing sentence that restates the main idea rather than developing it. A 7.0 or 7.5 answer would more likely fold this conclusion into a longer sentence about what people are trading for that calm.一个平实、简短的结尾句,只是重述了主要想法,而没有做进一步的展开。7.0分或7.5分的回答更可能会把这个结论融进一个更长的句子里,讲讲人们究竟是用什么去交换那份平静的。
    • LRTaking photos is easier too, without lots of strangers in the backgroundA plain, literal description of the photography benefit. A higher band would likely use a more specific phrase like getting 'a clean shot... without dozens of strangers wandering into frame', which paints a sharper picture.一个平实、字面化的描述,讲的是拍照方面的好处。更高分段可能会用一个更具体的短语,比如获得'a clean shot... without dozens of strangers wandering into frame',画面感更强。
    • GRAPopular places can be so crowded that you spend more time queuing than enjoying them, so going early or on a weekday helps avoid thatA so...that structure followed by a separate so-clause, workable but slightly repetitive with 'so' used twice. A 7.5 answer would be more likely to vary the connectors across the sentence.一个so...that结构后面跟着一个独立的so从句,虽然可行,但'so'重复使用了两次,略显重复。7.5分的回答更可能会在整个句子中变换连接词的使用。
    7.0 分

The 7.0 answer adds the reflective 'I'd say' and the natural verb pair 'queuing or dodging people', ending on the moderately developed collocation 'trading scheduling convenience for a calmer visit'.7.0分的回答加入了反思性的'I'd say',以及自然的动词对'queuing or dodging people',最后以适度发展的搭配'trading scheduling convenience for a calmer visit'收尾。

Mainly for comfort and a better overall experience, I'd say. Popular spots can get so packed that you end up spending more time queuing or dodging people than actually enjoying the place, so visiting early in the morning or on a weekday avoids most of that. A colleague of mine, Trang, always plans her Ba Na Hills trips for a Tuesday rather than a weekend, specifically to skip the long cable car lines. Photography is another factor, since it's much easier to get a clean shot without dozens of strangers in the background. Basically, people are trading scheduling convenience for a calmer visit.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCBasically, people are trading scheduling convenience for a calmer visit.A natural spoken summary connector ('Basically') introduces a slightly more developed closing idea than 6.5's flatter 'So really, people just want a calmer visit', framing the choice as a deliberate trade-off.一个自然的口语总结连接词('Basically'),引出了一个比6.5分中更平淡的'So really, people just want a calmer visit'略微更有发展的结尾想法,把这个选择框定成了一种刻意的权衡取舍。

Mainly for comfort and a genuinely better experience, I'd say. Popular spots can get so packed that you spend more time queuing or weaving around people than actually enjoying them, so visiting early or on a weekday sidesteps most of that. A colleague of mine, Trang, always schedules her Ba Na Hills trips for a Tuesday rather than a weekend, purely to dodge the long cable car queues. Photography is another motive — it's far easier to get a clean shot of a landmark without dozens of strangers wandering into frame. Prices can dip off-peak too. Essentially, people are trading a little scheduling convenience for a calmer, more absorbing visit overall.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCEssentially, people are trading a little scheduling convenience for a calmer, more absorbing visit overall. The closing summary is more precisely worded than the equivalent lines in the lower bands, adding the evaluative 'more absorbing' rather than settling for the plain 'calmer visit' alone.这个结尾总结的措辞比较低分段中对应的句子更精准,加入了评价性的'more absorbing',而不是只满足于平淡的'calmer visit'。

The biggest advantage is convenience. Everything you need, like shops, restaurants and public transport, is usually close by in a busy neighbourhood. I live near the Han River, close to Dragon Bridge, and I can get coffee, groceries and a Grab ride all within a few minutes without planning ahead. There are also more things happening socially, more events and more chances to meet people. Businesses do well too, because there are always customers around. 为什么是这个分数

    • FCThe biggest advantage is convenience.A very short, plain opening sentence that announces the main point directly with no hedging. A 7.0 or 7.5 answer would likely soften this with a spoken filler like 'honestly' and fold the reasoning straight into the same sentence.一个非常简短、平实的开篇句,直接、没有任何缓和语地宣告了主要观点。7.0分或7.5分的回答很可能会用一个口语填充词,比如'honestly'来软化它,并把理由直接融入同一句话里。

I live near the Han River, a short walk from Dragon Bridge, and I can get coffee, groceries and a Grab ride all within a few minutes without needing to plan ahead. Dense areas also tend to have more going on socially, which suits someone who doesn't want to feel isolated. Businesses thrive there too, since there's a constant flow of customers. The trade-off is obviously noise and less personal space, but for sheer convenience, it's hard to beat.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCwhich suits someone who doesn't want to feel isolatedA reflective clause added onto the social-life point, showing the speaker interpreting the fact rather than just stating it, which is more developed than the flat listing style of the 6.5 answer.一个附加在社交生活这一点上的反思性从句,展现出说话者在解读这个事实,而不只是单纯陈述它,这比6.5分回答那种平铺直叙的列举风格更有发展。

I'd say very important, almost as important as the busy areas. Constant noise is tiring, so people need somewhere to rest from it, even in a lively city. For me, that's usually a bench by the river early in the morning, before the traffic starts, or a quiet café away from the main road. Cities that only have busy, crowded spaces can wear people down over time, but even a small park can improve people's mood. The 6.5 answer states the general pattern directly and moves through three life stages one after another with 'but', 'so' and 'later in life', ending on the plain closing observation that priorities change.6.5分的回答直接陈述了这个普遍模式,用'but'、'so'和'later in life'依次经历了三个人生阶段,最后以'优先事项会改变'这一平实的结尾观察收尾。

I think it usually depends on what people need at each stage of life. Young adults often move to crowded cities first, for jobs and the excitement of city life — that's actually why I moved from Hue to Da Nang after university. But once people start a family, they often want more space and safer, quieter schools, so they move to smaller towns. Later in life, older people sometimes move away again for their health, preferring cleaner air and a slower pace. So it's not really one direction, it changes as priorities change.

    • FCSo it's not really one direction, it changes as priorities change.A short, slightly repetitive closing sentence (using 'change' twice) that restates the point plainly. A 7.0 or 7.5 answer would more likely vary the wording and turn this into a more polished contrast, such as a 'back-and-forth' between opportunity and calm.一个简短、略显重复的结尾句('change'一词用了两次),平实地重述了这个观点。7.0分或7.5分的回答更可能会变换措辞,把这句话变成一个更精致的对比,比如机遇和平静之间的一种'来回往复'。
    • LRYoung adults often move to crowded cities first, for jobs and the excitement of city lifeA plain description using the general noun 'excitement'. A higher band would likely choose a more vivid verb, such as young adults 'chasing job opportunities and the sheer energy of city life', to convey the same idea more actively.一个用笼统名词'excitement'构成的平实描述。更高分段可能会选用一个更生动的动词,比如年轻人'chasing job opportunities and the sheer energy of city life',更主动地传达同样的意思。
    • GRAonce people start a family, they often want more space and safer, quieter schools, so they move to smaller townsA once-clause followed by a plain so-clause, workable but grammatically simple. A 7.5 answer would be more likely to use 'though' to build a tighter single sentence out of the same contrast.一个once从句后面跟着一个平实的so从句,可行但语法上比较简单。7.5分的回答更可能会用'though'把同样的对比构建成一个更紧凑的单一句子。
    7.0 分

The 7.0 answer opens with the natural collocation 'tracks what people need' and closes on the more developed image of 'less a straight line... and more a back-and-forth', a step up from the flatter closing line a 6.5 answer gives.7.0分的回答以自然的搭配'tracks what people need'开头,并以更充分发展的意象'less a straight line... and more a back-and-forth'收尾,比6.5分平淡的结尾句更进了一步。

It usually tracks what people need at each stage of life, I'd say. Young adults often move to crowded cities first for job opportunities and the energy of city life — that's actually why I left Hue for Da Nang after university. But once people start families, priorities shift towards space, safety and quieter schools for their children, so some move out to smaller towns. Later on, older people sometimes move away from cities again for health reasons, preferring cleaner air and a slower pace, closer to relatives. So it's less a straight line, really, and more a back-and-forth as priorities change.

    • FCSo it's less a straight line, really, and more a back-and-forth as priorities change.A more developed closing contrast than 6.5's repetitive 'it's not really one direction, it changes as priorities change', using the spoken filler 'really' and a clearer image (straight line vs back-and-forth) to shape the conclusion.一个比6.5分中重复的'it's not really one direction, it changes as priorities change'更有发展的结尾对比,用了口语填充词'really'和一个更清晰的意象(直线vs来回往复)来塑造结论。
    • LRIt usually tracks what people need at each stage of lifeThe verb 'tracks' is a more natural, slightly more precise choice than the plain 'depends on' a lower band would use to open the same idea.动词'tracks'是一个比较低分段用来引出同样想法的平实的'depends on'更自然、略微更精准的选择。
    • GRAonce people start families, priorities shift towards space, safety and quieter schools for their children, so some move out to smaller townsA once-clause followed by a three-item list ('space, safety and quieter schools') before the so-clause, more developed than the two-item list a 6.5 answer manages in the same slot.一个once从句后面跟着一个三项列表('space, safety and quieter schools'),再接so从句,比6.5分回答在同一位置能做到的两项列表更有发展。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer uses the participial phrase 'chasing job opportunities' and the less common verbs 'tilt', 'drift out' and 'retreat', closing on the balanced parallel phrase 'chasing opportunity when young and craving calm once other priorities take over'.7.5分的回答用了分词短语'chasing job opportunities',以及较少见的动词'tilt'、'drift out'和'retreat',并以平衡的并列短语'chasing opportunity when young and craving calm once other priorities take over'收尾。

It usually tracks what people need at each stage of life, I'd say. Young adults tend to move to crowded cities first, chasing job opportunities and the sheer energy of city life — that's actually why I left Hue for Da Nang after university. Once people start families, though, priorities tilt towards space, safety and quieter schools for the kids, so some drift out to smaller towns or the outskirts. Later on, older people sometimes retreat from cities again for health reasons, favouring cleaner air and a slower pace closer to relatives. So it's less a straight line and more a back-and-forth between chasing opportunity when young and craving calm once other priorities take over.

    • FCSo it's less a straight line and more a back-and-forth between chasing opportunity when young and craving calm once other priorities take over. The closing image is extended into a fully parallel structure ('chasing opportunity...craving calm...') rather than the shorter, less balanced closing line the lower bands use, giving the ending a more deliberate rhetorical shape.这个结尾意象被延伸成了一个完全对称的结构('chasing opportunity...craving calm...'),而不是较低分段用的更短、不那么平衡的结尾句,给了结尾一种更刻意的修辞形态。
    • LRpriorities tilt towards space, safety and quieter schools for the kids, so some drift out to smaller townsThe less common verbs 'tilt' and 'drift out' replace the plainer 'shift towards' and 'move out' a lower band would use, adding more precise, slightly figurative movement to the same idea.较少见的动词'tilt'和'drift out'取代了较低分段会用的更平淡的'shift towards'和'move out',给同样的想法增添了更精准、略带比喻色彩的动态感。
    • GRAYoung adults tend to move to crowded cities first, chasing job opportunities and the sheer energy of city lifeA participial phrase ('chasing job opportunities...') attaches directly to the main clause instead of the separate 'for job opportunities and the energy of...' prepositional phrase the lower bands use, a more compact construction.一个分词短语('chasing job opportunities...')直接附加在主句上,而不是较低分段会用的独立介词短语'for job opportunities and the energy of...',是一个更紧凑的结构。

The 6.5 answer lists four plain examples of technology one after another, each joined loosely with 'and' or 'too', and closes with a simple, direct statement of the remaining limitation.6.5分的回答依次列出了四个平实的科技例子,各自用'and'或'too'松散地连接,并以一句简单、直接陈述剩余局限的话收尾。

A lot easier, honestly. Remote work tools mean people don't need to live near an office anymore — at my studio, one developer works from a small town outside Hoi An and just joins meetings online. Shopping apps like Shopee mean you can get things delivered even if you're far from a big shopping centre, and mobile banking means you don't have to visit a bank branch for most things. Telemedicine helps too, so people can see a doctor without travelling to a city hospital. The main problem now is really just weak internet in some areas.

    • FCThe main problem now is really just weak internet in some areas.A plain, direct closing sentence that names the limitation without much elaboration. A 7.0 or 7.5 answer would more likely turn this into a conditional statement showing exactly how the limitation plays out.一个平实、直接的结尾句,说出了这个局限,但没有太多阐述。7.0分或7.5分的回答更可能会把这变成一个条件句,具体展示这个局限是如何实际发生的。
    • LRmobile banking means you don't have to visit a bank branch for most thingsA plain, literal description of the benefit. A higher band would likely use a more precise phrase, such as mobile banking having 'removed the need to visit a physical branch', which sounds slightly more formal and considered.一个平实、字面化的好处描述。更高分段可能会用一个更精准的短语,比如手机银行'removed the need to visit a physical branch',听起来略微更正式、更经过深思。
    • GRAShopping apps like Shopee mean you can get things delivered even if you're far from a big shopping centre, and mobile banking means you don't have to visit a bank branch for most thingsTwo similarly structured clauses joined with 'and', a safe but repetitive pattern ('X means Y' twice in a row). A 7.5 answer would be more likely to vary the verb and structure between the two examples.两个结构相似的小句用'and'连接,是一种安全但重复的模式('X means Y'连用了两次)。7.5分的回答更可能会在这两个例子之间变换动词和结构。
    7.0 分

The 7.0 answer opens with the emphatic 'Enormously, honestly' and closes on a conditional-style structure ('where the connection is weak, all of this still breaks down') instead of the flat statement a 6.5 answer uses for the same limitation.7.0分的回答以强调性的'Enormously, honestly'开头,并以一个条件式的结构收尾('where the connection is weak, all of this still breaks down'),而不是6.5分对同样这个局限所用的平铺陈述。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCwhere the connection is weak, all of this still breaks downA conditional-style closing clause that shows the limitation actually playing out, rather than 6.5's flatter statement that just names the problem ('weak internet in some areas') without showing its effect.一个条件式的结尾从句,展现出这个局限实际发生的样子,而不是6.5分那种只是说出问题名称('weak internet in some areas')却没有展示其影响的更平淡的说法。
    • LRmobile banking has removed the need to visit a physical branch for most tasksThe phrase 'removed the need to' is a more natural, slightly more formal collocation than the plain 'means you don't have to' a lower band would use for the same idea.短语'removed the need to'是一个比较低分段会用的平实的'means you don't have to'更自然、略微更正式的搭配,用于表达同一想法。
    • GRATelemedicine is helping too, letting people consult doctors without a long trip to a city hospitalA participial phrase ('letting people consult doctors...') attaches directly to the main clause, a more compact construction than the plain so-clause a 6.5 answer uses for the same information.一个分词短语('letting people consult doctors...')直接附加在主句上,比6.5分回答对同样信息所用的平实so从句是更紧凑的结构。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer opens with the abstract, vivid claim that technology has 'dissolved the old link between opportunity and location', using the less common verb 'sparing' before echoing the same conditional close as 7.0 but with the added evaluative 'quietly'.7.5分的回答以一个抽象、生动的论断开头,说科技已经'dissolved the old link between opportunity and location',用了较少见的动词'sparing',最后以和7.0分类似的条件式结尾收尾,但加上了评价性的'quietly'。

Enormously, honestly — technology has more or less dissolved the old link between opportunity and location. Apps like Shopee mean goods get delivered even to places far from a big shopping centre, and mobile banking has removed the need to visit a physical branch for most tasks. Telemedicine helps too, sparing people a long trip to a city hospital just to see a doctor. The one real limitation left is internet infrastructure — where the connection is weak, all of this quietly breaks down.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCtechnology has more or less dissolved the old link between opportunity and locationA single abstract sentence frames the whole answer around one idea before the examples start, rather than the plainer bands' habit of opening directly with the first example. This kind of framing sentence shows more control over how the discourse is organised.一个单独的抽象句子在举例开始之前,为整个回答定下了围绕一个想法的框架,而不是较平淡的分段直接以第一个例子开头的习惯。这种框架性句子展现出对话语组织方式更强的把控力。
    • LRsparing people a long trip to a city hospital just to see a doctorThe less common verb 'sparing' replaces the plainer 'letting people consult doctors without' a lower band would use, expressing the same benefit more economically.较少见的动词'sparing'取代了较低分段会用的更平淡的'letting people consult doctors without',更经济地表达了同样的好处。
    • GRARemote-work tools mean people no longer have to live near an office to do their job; at my studio, one of our developers works from a small town outside Hoi AnA semicolon links the general claim to the specific example in one flowing sentence, rather than the em dash and separate clause structure the lower bands use for the same transition.一个分号在一个流畅的句子里把一般性的论断和具体的例子连接起来,而不是较低分段对同一过渡所用的破折号加独立小句结构。

I think investing in infrastructure outside the big cities would help the most — good roads, reliable internet and decent schools make smaller towns actually possible to live in, not just cheaper. Tax breaks for businesses that move away from city centres could help too, so people don't have to go to Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh City just to find work. Better healthcare in smaller provinces matters as well. But just telling people to move, without building these services first, probably won't work.

    我觉得投资大城市之外的基础设施是最有帮助的——好的道路、可靠的网络和不错的学校能让较小的城镇真正变得宜居,而不只是更便宜而已。给搬离市中心的企业提供税收优惠也能有帮助,这样人们就不必非得去岘港或胡志明市才能找到工作。较小省份更好的医疗保障也很重要。但如果只是单纯让人们搬走,却没有先把这些配套设施建起来,大概是行不通的。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCBut just telling people to move, without building these services first, probably won't work.A plain, direct warning sentence added at the end with the basic connector 'But'. A 7.0 or 7.5 answer would more likely connect this warning back to the whole argument with a 'though' or 'so', tying it more tightly to what came before.一个用基本连接词'But'加在最后的平实、直接的警示句。7.0分或7.5分的回答更可能会用'though'或'so'把这个警示和整个论证重新连接起来,联系得更紧密。
    • LRBetter healthcare in smaller provinces matters as wellA plain, general statement using the vague verb 'matters'. A higher band would likely be more specific, describing healthcare as 'often the deciding factor for families', which explains why it matters rather than just asserting that it does.一个用笼统动词'matters'构成的平实、笼统的陈述。更高分段可能会更具体,把医疗描述为'often the deciding factor for families',解释了它为什么重要,而不只是断言它重要。
    • GRATax breaks for businesses that move away from city centres could help too, so people don't have to go to Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh City just to find workA relative clause plus a so-clause, workable but fairly linear. A 7.5 answer would be more likely to use a participial phrase such as 'sparing people the need to' instead of the plain 'so...don't have to' construction.一个定语从句加一个so从句,可行但相当线性。7.5分的回答更可能会用一个分词短语,比如'sparing people the need to',而不是平实的'so...don't have to'结构。
    7.0 分

The 7.0 answer adds the reflective 'I'd say' and gives a reason for the healthcare point with 'since that's often the deciding factor for families', ending the warning with 'though' instead of a separate 'But' sentence.7.0分的回答加入了反思性的'I'd say',并用'since that's often the deciding factor for families'为医疗这一点给出了理由,用'though'而不是独立的'But'句子来结束这个警示。

Investing in infrastructure outside the major cities would probably have the biggest impact, I'd say — good roads, reliable internet and decent schools make smaller towns genuinely viable, not just cheaper. Tax incentives for businesses that relocate away from city centres could also help spread job opportunities more evenly, so people aren't forced into Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh City just to find decent work. Improving healthcare facilities in smaller provinces matters too, since that's often the deciding factor for families. Simply telling people to move without building the supporting services first rarely works, though.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCSimply telling people to move without building the supporting services first rarely works, though.Placing 'though' at the end of the sentence rather than starting a new sentence with 'But' ties the warning more closely to the rest of the argument, a slightly more fluent way of managing the contrast than the 6.5 pattern.把'though'放在句末,而不是用'But'另起一句,让这个警示和论证的其余部分联系得更紧密,比6.5分的模式处理对比的方式略微更流畅。
    • LRthat's often the deciding factor for familiesA more precise, natural phrase than 6.5's vague 'matters as well', naming exactly what role healthcare plays in a family's decision rather than just asserting its importance.一个比6.5分中笼统的'matters as well'更精准、更自然的短语,准确说出了医疗在一个家庭的决策中究竟扮演什么角色,而不只是断言它的重要性。
    • GRATax incentives for businesses that relocate away from city centres could also help spread job opportunities more evenly, so people aren't forced into Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh City just to find decent workA relative clause plus a so-clause, similar in shape to 6.5 but with the more precise verb 'relocate' and the phrase 'aren't forced into', showing slightly more control over word choice within a familiar structure.一个定语从句加一个so从句,形态和6.5分类似,但用了更精准的动词'relocate'和短语'aren't forced into',在一个熟悉的结构中展现出略微更强的措辞把控力。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer uses the participial phrase 'sparing people the need to crowd into' instead of a so-clause, and closes with the more developed final sentence tying the warning back to 'the underlying reasons people crowd into cities to begin with'.7.5分的回答用了分词短语'sparing people the need to crowd into',而不是so从句,并以一句更充分发展的结尾句收尾,把这个警示和'the underlying reasons people crowd into cities to begin with'(人们一开始扎堆涌向城市的根本原因)重新连接起来。

Tax incentives for businesses willing to relocate away from city centres could also spread job opportunities more evenly, sparing people the need to crowd into Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh City just to find decent work. Upgrading healthcare in smaller provinces matters just as much, since that's often the deciding factor for families weighing a move. Simply urging people to relocate without laying the supporting services first rarely works, though, so any real policy has to tackle the underlying reasons people crowd into cities to begin with.

It's possible, but I don't think it's certain. After a certain point, problems like traffic, pollution and housing prices tend to grow faster than the benefits, and I've already noticed Da Nang's traffic getting worse compared to a few years ago. But cities that plan early, with good public transport and more green spaces, seem to manage growth much better than ones that don't. Singapore is often mentioned as an example of a crowded but liveable city. So I think it depends more on planning than on population size alone.

    • FCIt's possible, but I don't think it's certain.A short, plain hedge stating the position directly with no further nuance. A 7.0 or 7.5 answer would more likely use the more natural phrasing 'possible, though not inevitable', which softens the contrast slightly rather than stating it as a flat 'but'.一个简短、平实的限定语,直接陈述立场,没有任何进一步的细微差别。7.0分或7.5分的回答更可能会用更自然的措辞'possible, though not inevitable',比直接用'but'陈述稍微软化了这个对比。
    • LRproblems like traffic, pollution and housing prices tend to grow faster than the benefitsA plain verb choice ('grow faster') describing the process. A higher band would likely use a more precise, less common verb such as problems that 'multiply faster than the benefits', which conveys a stronger sense of acceleration.一个平实的动词选择('grow faster'),用来描述这个过程。更高分段可能会用一个更精准、较少见的动词,比如问题'multiply faster than the benefits',传达出更强的加速感。

    7.0 分

The 7.0 answer softens the hedge to 'possible, though I don't think it's inevitable' and upgrades the verb to 'multiply faster', using the more natural phrase 'held up as an example' instead of the plain 'mentioned as an example'.7.0分的回答把限定语软化为'possible, though I don't think it's inevitable',并把动词升级为'multiply faster',用更自然的短语'held up as an example'取代了平实的'mentioned as an example'。

It's possible, though I don't think it's inevitable. Beyond a certain density, problems like traffic, pollution and housing costs do tend to multiply faster than the benefits of city life, and I've already noticed Da Nang's traffic getting noticeably worse compared to a few years ago. But cities that invest early in public transport, vertical housing and green spaces seem to manage growth far better than ones that don't plan ahead.

    • FCIt's possible, though I don't think it's inevitable. The connector 'though' softens the contrast between possibility and inevitability more naturally than 6.5's flatter 'but', giving the hedge a more considered, spoken quality.连接词'though'比6.5分中更平淡的'but',更自然地软化了可能性和必然性之间的对比,让这个限定语带上了更经过深思、更接近口语的特质。
    • LRproblems like traffic, pollution and housing costs do tend to multiply faster than the benefits of city lifeThe verb 'multiply' is a more precise, slightly less common choice than the plain 'grow faster' a lower band would use, conveying a stronger sense of compounding growth.动词'multiply'是一个比较低分段会用的平实的'grow faster'更精准、略微更少见的选择,传达出更强的复合增长感。
    • GRASingapore is often held up as an example of dense living that still works wellThe collocation 'held up as an example' is a more natural, idiomatic construction than the plain 'mentioned as an example' a 6.5 answer uses for the same reference.搭配'held up as an example'是一个比6.5分回答对同一引用所用的平实的'mentioned as an example'更自然、更地道的结构。
    7.5 分

The 7.5 answer uses the vivid verb 'thicken' for traffic and the collocation 'absorb growth far more gracefully', closing on the compact idiom 'tipping into unliveable' rather than a plain restated opinion.7.5分的回答用了生动的动词'thicken'来形容交通,以及搭配'absorb growth far more gracefully',最后以简练的习语'tipping into unliveable'收尾,而不是平淡地重述观点。

It's possible, though I don't think it's inevitable. Past a certain density, problems like traffic, pollution and housing costs tend to multiply faster than the benefits of city life, and I've already watched Da Nang's traffic thicken noticeably compared to a few years ago. But cities that invest early in public transport, vertical housing and green space seem to absorb growth far more gracefully than ones that leave planning until it's urgent. Singapore gets held up as the classic example of dense living that still functions well. So I'd say liveability hinges far more on planning and governance than on population size alone — a well-managed city can keep growing without ever tipping into unliveable.

    • FCSo I'd say liveability hinges far more on planning and governance than on population size alone — a well-managed city can keep growing without ever tipping into unliveable. The closing statement is extended into a final, self-contained image ('tipping into unliveable') that rounds off the whole argument, rather than the shorter, flatter closing sentence the lower bands settle for.结尾陈述被延伸成了一个独立、完整的意象('tipping into unliveable'),为整个论证画上了句号,而不是较低分段满足于的更短、更平淡的结尾句。
    • LRI've already watched Da Nang's traffic thicken noticeably compared to a few years agoThe less common verb 'thicken' used for traffic is more vivid and precise than the plain 'getting worse' a lower band would use for the same observation.用来形容交通的较少见动词'thicken',比较低分段对同一观察会用的平实的'getting worse'更生动、更精准。
    • GRAcities that invest early in public transport, vertical housing and green space seem to absorb growth far more gracefully than ones that leave planning until it's urgentThe comparative clause is extended with the adverb 'gracefully' and a more specific contrasting clause ('leave planning until it's urgent') than the plain 'don't plan ahead' the lower bands use, adding more nuance within a similar grammatical frame.这个比较从句用副词'gracefully'和一个更具体的对比从句('leave planning until it's urgent')延伸了,比较低分段用的平实'don't plan ahead',在一个相似的语法框架内增添了更多细微差别。

    6.5 分

This is a 6.5 answer because of its plain descriptive sentences and the simple closing contrast 'The crowds were exciting at first, but after a few days, I missed the slower pace of Da Nang'.这是一个6.5分的回答,因为它用了平实的描述性句子,以及简单的结尾对比——'The crowds were exciting at first, but after a few days, I missed the slower pace of Da Nang'。

I think Ho Chi Minh City is the most overcrowded city in my country. It always feels very busy, especially during rush hour. For example, last October I visited my younger sister, who studies there, and I remember trying to cross the street near Ben Thanh Market around 6pm. It was full of motorbikes and cars everywhere, and people were squeezing past each other on the sidewalks. Even compared to Da Nang, where I live, it feels much more crowded. Hanoi is also crowded, but I think Saigon has more people and more energy. The crowds were exciting at first, but after a few days, I missed the slower pace of Da Nang.

    • FCThe crowds were exciting at first, but after a few days, I missed the slower pace of Da Nang. This closing sentence states a plain contrast using the basic connector 'but', with no reflective hedge. A 7.0 answer would soften this with 'To be fair, the crowds can be exciting sometimes', and a 7.5 answer would use the more vivid adjective 'exhilarating' and the phrase 'craving Da Nang's slower rhythm'.这句结尾用基本连接词'but'陈述了一个平实的对比,没有任何反思性的缓和语。7.0分的回答会用'To be fair, the crowds can be exciting sometimes'来软化,而7.5分的回答会用更生动的形容词'exhilarating'和短语'craving Da Nang's slower rhythm'。
    • LRvery busyThis is a plain intensifier-plus-adjective phrase, without any more vivid or specific alternative. A 7.0 answer would use the identical phrase 'packed', a slightly more precise single-word choice, and a 7.5 answer would use the more literary 'perpetually packed'.这是一个平实的强调语加形容词短语,没有任何更生动或更具体的替代方案。7.0分的回答会用一模一样的词'packed',一个略微更精准的单词选择,而7.5分的回答会用更具文学色彩的'perpetually packed'。
    • GRAIt was full of motorbikes and cars everywhere, and people were squeezing past each other on the sidewalks. This sentence coordinates two clauses with 'and' in a fairly plain structure. A 7.0 answer would restate this with a comma splice mimicking spoken rhythm, 'it was just a sea of motorbikes and cars in every direction, with people squeezing past each other', and a 7.5 answer would drop the finite verb entirely for a more compact appositive.这句话用'and'把两个小句以相当平实的结构连接起来。7.0分的回答会用模仿口语节奏的逗号拼接来重新表述——'it was just a sea of motorbikes and cars in every direction, with people squeezing past each other',而7.5分的回答会完全去掉限定动词,改用一个更紧凑的同位语。
    7.0 分

This is a 7.0 answer because of the vivid image 'a sea of motorbikes and cars' and the natural hedge 'To be fair' introducing the closing contrast.这是一个7.0分的回答,因为它用了生动的意象'a sea of motorbikes and cars',以及在引出结尾对比时用了自然的缓和语'To be fair'。

Well, the first city that comes to mind is definitely Ho Chi Minh City. It always feels packed, especially during rush hour. For example, last October I visited my younger sister, who studies there, and I remember trying to cross the street near Ben Thanh Market around 6pm, it was just a sea of motorbikes and cars in every direction, with people squeezing past each other on the sidewalks. Even compared to Da Nang, where I live, it's on another level. Hanoi is also really crowded, but I think Saigon's energy and its sheer number of people make it stand out. To be fair, the crowds can be exciting sometimes, but after a couple of days, I started missing the slower pace back in Da Nang.

    • FCTo be fair, the crowds can be exciting sometimes, but after a couple of days, I started missing the slower pace back in Da Nang. This closing sentence opens with the natural spoken hedge 'To be fair' before making the contrast, a more fluent structure than a bare 'but' statement. A 6.5 answer would state the same contrast without this opening hedge, and a 7.5 answer would replace it with the more idiomatic 'admittedly'.这句结尾在给出对比之前,先用自然的口语缓和语'To be fair'开头,比一个简单的'but'陈述更流畅。6.5分的回答会不用这个开头缓和语来陈述同样的对比,而7.5分的回答会把它换成更地道的'admittedly'。
    • LRa sea of motorbikes and carsThis is a vivid, idiomatic collocation describing the crowd, considerably more distinctive than the plain 'full of motorbikes and cars' used at 6.5.这是一个生动、地道的描述人群的搭配,比6.5分中平实的'full of motorbikes and cars'更具独特性。
    • GRAit was just a sea of motorbikes and cars in every direction, with people squeezing past each other on the sidewalksThis sentence uses a comma splice mimicking natural spoken rhythm, followed by a participial phrase ('with people squeezing...') instead of a second finite clause joined by 'and'. A 6.5 answer would use the standard coordinating 'and' with a full finite clause instead of this participial construction.这句话用一个模仿自然口语节奏的逗号拼接句,后面跟着一个分词短语('with people squeezing...'),而不是用'and'连接的第二个限定小句。6.5分的回答会用标准的并列连词'and'加一个完整限定小句,而不是这种分词结构。
    7.5 分

This reaches 7.5 through the verbless appositive 'a solid sea of motorbikes and cars in every direction, pedestrians squeezing past each other' and the closing phrase 'craving Da Nang's slower rhythm', more vivid than the plainer wording at lower bands.这达到7.5分是因为无动词的同位语'a solid sea of motorbikes and cars in every direction, pedestrians squeezing past each other',以及结尾短语'craving Da Nang's slower rhythm',比较低分段更平实的措辞更生动。

Ho Chi Minh City is the one that instantly springs to mind. It feels perpetually packed, especially once rush hour hits. Visiting my younger sister there last October, I remember trying to cross the street near Ben Thanh Market around 6pm, a solid sea of motorbikes and cars in every direction, pedestrians squeezing past each other on what little sidewalk remained. Even set against Da Nang, where I live, it's operating on an entirely different level. Hanoi has its own crowds too, but Saigon's raw energy and sheer density of people give it a particular edge. The chaos is exhilarating for a day or two, admittedly, but I found myself craving Da Nang's slower rhythm soon enough.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCThe chaos is exhilarating for a day or two, admittedly, but I found myself craving Da Nang's slower rhythm soon enough. This closing sentence uses the vivid adjective 'exhilarating' and the parenthetical 'admittedly' inserted mid-clause, plus the idiomatic verb 'craving', a more evocative and confident structure than the plainer contrast used at lower bands. A 7.0 answer would open this contrast with 'To be fair' instead, and a 6.5 answer would state it with the simplest possible wording.这句结尾用了生动的形容词'exhilarating',以及插入在小句中段的插入语'admittedly',加上地道的动词'craving',比较低分段用的更平淡的对比是更有画面感、更自信的结构。7.0分的回答会用'To be fair'来开启这个对比,而6.5分的回答会用最简单的措辞来陈述。
    • LRsheer density of peopleThis is a more precise, almost technical collocation than the plainer 'sheer number of people' used at 7.0, using the abstract noun 'density' for a sharper image.这是一个比7.0分中更平淡的'sheer number of people'更精准、近乎专业术语的搭配,用抽象名词'density'来营造一个更犀利的画面。
    • GRAa solid sea of motorbikes and cars in every direction, pedestrians squeezing past each other on what little sidewalk remainedThis is a verbless appositive clause with no main finite verb, describing the scene entirely through noun phrases and participles, a more compact and literary construction than the comma-spliced sentence with a finite participial phrase used at 7.0. A 6.5 answer would use the plainest possible coordinated sentence with two full finite clauses.这是一个没有主要限定动词的无动词同位语从句,完全通过名词短语和分词来描述这个场景,比7.0分中用逗号拼接、带限定分词短语的句子是更紧凑、更具文学色彩的结构。6.5分的回答会用最平实的、带两个完整限定小句的并列句。

This is a 6.5 answer because of its plain narrative about the construction and the simple closing summary 'Not every area is this lucky, but I think the trend here is positive'.这是一个6.5分的回答,因为它对那处施工的叙述很平实,结尾的总结也很简单——'Not every area is this lucky, but I think the trend here is positive'。

I think it depends on how cities are planned, but I am a little hopeful there will be more green spaces in the future. People are becoming more aware of how important parks and trees are, especially for mental health and cooling down cities. At first, I thought it was another tall building, but it turned out to be a new riverside park with walking paths and a small garden. I was surprised, and I saw families and joggers using it almost immediately. Not every area is this lucky, but I think the trend here is positive.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCNot every area is this lucky, but I think the trend here is positive. This closing sentence uses the basic connector 'but' to state a plain final contrast, without any softer hedge. A 7.0 answer would extend this with 'Of course' at the start, and a 7.5 answer would add the further hedge 'admittedly' for a more reflective tone.这句结尾用基本连接词'but'陈述了一个平实的最终对比,没有任何更柔和的缓和语。7.0分的回答会在开头加上'Of course'来延伸,而7.5分的回答会再加上一个缓和语'admittedly',语气更具反思性。
    • LRcooling down citiesThis is a plain, literal phrasal verb construction. A 7.0 answer would use the more formal noun phrase 'reducing city temperatures', and a 7.5 answer would extend this idea within a longer, more parallel list structure.这是一个平实、字面化的短语动词结构。7.0分的回答会用更正式的名词短语'reducing city temperatures',而7.5分的回答会在一个更长、更平行的列表结构中延伸这个想法。
    • GRAI saw families and joggers using it almost immediatelyThis is a short, simple sentence with a plain adverb. A 7.0 answer would restate this using the idiom 'almost right away', and a 7.5 answer would use the more vivid verb 'colonised' for a stronger image.这是一个用平实副词构成的简短、简单句子。7.0分的回答会用习语'almost right away'来重新表述,而7.5分的回答会用更生动的动词'colonised'来营造一个更强的画面。

    • GRAAt first, I assumed they were putting up another high-rise, but it turned out they were creating a new riverside parkThis sentence uses parallel past continuous verbs ('were putting up', 'were creating') on either side of the contrast, a more controlled structure than the mixed simple-past construction used at 6.5. A 6.5 answer would use the simple past 'I thought it was another tall building' rather than this parallel continuous construction.这句话在对比的两边都用了平行的过去进行时动词('were putting up'、'were creating'),比6.5分中混用简单过去时的结构更有控制力。6.5分的回答会用简单过去时'I thought it was another tall building',而不是这种平行的进行时结构。

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCNot every neighbourhood gets that lucky, admittedly, but the trend, at least here, does seem to be pointing the right way. This closing sentence inserts the parenthetical 'admittedly' mid-clause and adds a second parenthetical 'at least here' further along, a more flexible and layered structure than the plainer 'Of course... but' opener used at 7.0. A 6.5 answer would state this contrast with the simplest possible 'but' connector.这句结尾在小句中段插入了插入语'admittedly',并在后面又加了第二个插入语'at least here',比7.0分用的更平淡的'Of course... but'开头是更灵活、更有层次的结构。6.5分的回答会用最简单的'but'连接词来陈述这个对比。
    • LRfamilies and joggers had colonised it almost the moment it openedThis is a vivid, unusual verb choice ('colonised', typically used for settlement or spread) applied to people enjoying a park, considerably more distinctive than the plain 'using it almost immediately' used at 6.5 and 'enjoying it almost right away' at 7.0.这是一个生动、不寻常的动词选择('colonised',通常用于表达定居或扩散),用在人们享受一个公园这件事上,比6.5分用的'using it almost immediately'和7.0分用的'enjoying it almost right away'都平淡得多,展现出更大的独特性。

To be honest, I am not sure if having more big cities is a good trend or not. On one hand, big cities give many opportunities. For example, my job as a UI designer would not really exist in a small town, because most clients are in cities. But there are also clear problems. Last year, I went to Hanoi for a tech conference, and it took over an hour to get from my hotel in Ba Dinh to the convention centre because of traffic. The noise and crowds actually stressed me out. So I think growing cities can help the economy, but only if the infrastructure and public spaces improve too, or quality of life gets worse.

    为什么是这个分数

    • FCSo I think growing cities can help the economy, but only if the infrastructure and public spaces improve too, or quality of life gets worse. This long closing sentence chains several ideas together with the basic connectors 'but' and 'or', producing a somewhat run-on structure. A 7.0 answer would tighten this by dropping the final 'or' clause and using 'only positive if' instead, and a 7.5 answer would use the more precise verb 'erodes' at the very end.这个较长的结尾句用基本连接词'but'和'or'把几个想法串在一起,产生了一种有些拖沓的结构。7.0分的回答会去掉最后的'or'从句、改用'only positive if'来收紧结构,而7.5分的回答会在末尾用更精准的动词'erodes'。
    • LRstressed me outThis is a plain, basic phrasal verb describing the reaction to noise and crowds. A 7.0 answer would use the more precise adverb-modified version 'stressed me out a bit', and a 7.5 answer would use the more formal 'left me faintly stressed'.这是一个平实、基础的短语动词,用来描述对噪音和人群的反应。7.0分的回答会用更精准、带副词修饰的版本'stressed me out a bit',而7.5分的回答会用更正式的'left me faintly stressed'。
    • GRAit took over an hour to get from my hotel in Ba Dinh to the convention centre because of trafficThis sentence uses a simple causal phrase 'because of traffic' at the end, in a fairly plain structure. A 7.0 answer would restate this with 'took over an hour in traffic', a slightly more compact phrasing, and a 7.5 answer would use the vivid verb 'swallowed' to describe how the traffic consumed the time.这句话在结尾用了一个简单的因果短语'because of traffic',结构相当平实。7.0分的回答会用'took over an hour in traffic'来重新表述,措辞略微更紧凑,而7.5分的回答会用生动的动词'swallowed'来描述交通是如何吞噬掉那段时间的。
    7.0 分

This is a 7.0 answer because of the natural idiom 'on the fence' and the tightened closing sentence using 'only positive if', a cleaner conditional structure than the run-on version at 6.5.这是一个7.0分的回答,因为它用了自然的习语'on the fence',以及用'only positive if'收紧的结尾句,比6.5分那种拖沓的版本是更简洁的条件结构。

To be honest, I'm kind of on the fence about whether having more big cities is a good trend. On one hand, big cities offer tons of opportunities, like, my job as a UI designer wouldn't really exist if I lived in a small town, since most of our clients and creative projects are based in urban areas. But at the same time, the downsides are pretty obvious. Last year, I visited Hanoi for a tech conference, and just getting from my hotel in Ba Dinh to the convention center took over an hour in traffic. The sheer noise and crowd actually stressed me out a bit. So while growing cities can boost the economy, I think it's only positive if the city's infrastructure and public spaces keep up with the population.

    • FCTo be honest, I'm kind of on the fence about whether having more big cities is a good trend. This opening uses the natural idiom 'on the fence' to express genuine uncertainty, a more fluent and conversational move than the plainer 'I am not sure if... is a good trend or not' used at 6.5.这个开头用自然的习语'on the fence'来表达真实的犹豫不决,比6.5分中更平淡的'I am not sure if... is a good trend or not'展现出更流畅、更接近对话的手法。
    • LRtons of opportunitiesThis is a more casual, idiomatic quantifier ('tons of') than the plain 'many opportunities' used at 6.5, showing natural spoken register.这是一个比6.5分中平实的'many opportunities'更随意、更地道的数量词('tons of'),展现出自然的口语语域。
    • GRAmy job as a UI designer wouldn't really exist if I lived in a small town, since most of our clients and creative projects are based in urban areasThis sentence combines a conditional clause with a causal 'since' clause in one flowing sentence, a more complex single structure than the two separate short sentences used at 6.5. A 6.5 answer would state the conditional and the reason as two separate sentences joined loosely by 'because'.这句话把一个条件从句和一个因果性的'since'从句结合在一个流畅的句子里,比6.5分中用的两个独立短句是更复杂的单一结构。6.5分的回答会把条件句和理由分别陈述成两个独立句子,用'because'松散地连接。
    7.5 分

This reaches 7.5 through the fronted participial clause 'Attending a tech conference in Hanoi last year' and the vivid verb 'swallowed', which personifies the traffic more dramatically than the plainer verbs used at lower bands.这达到7.5分是因为前置的分词从句'Attending a tech conference in Hanoi last year',以及生动的动词'swallowed',比较低分段用的动词更戏剧化地将交通拟人化了。

Honestly, I'm somewhat torn on whether more big cities counts as a good trend. On one hand, they open up genuine opportunities, my job as a UI designer simply wouldn't exist in a small town, given how much of our client base and creative work is rooted in urban areas. Yet the downsides are hard to ignore. Attending a tech conference in Hanoi last year, I found the trip from my hotel in Ba Dinh to the convention centre swallowed over an hour in traffic alone, and the sheer noise and crush of people left me faintly stressed. So while expanding cities can undoubtedly fuel the economy, that's only a good thing if infrastructure and public spaces keep pace with the population, otherwise quality of life simply erodes.

    • FCAttending a tech conference in Hanoi last year, I found the trip from my hotel in Ba Dinh to the convention centre swallowed over an hour in traffic aloneThis sentence opens with a fronted participial clause ('Attending...') instead of the plain 'Last year, I visited Hanoi for a tech conference, and' used at lower bands, a more compact and literary opening. A 6.5 answer would use the simplest coordinated structure with 'and' joining two full clauses.这句话以一个前置的分词从句('Attending...')开头,而不是较低分段用的平实的'Last year, I visited Hanoi for a tech conference, and',是一种更紧凑、更具文学色彩的开头方式。6.5分的回答会用最简单的、以'and'连接两个完整小句的并列结构。
    • LRswallowed over an hour in traffic aloneThis is a vivid, personifying verb choice ('swallowed') describing how traffic consumed the travel time, considerably more distinctive than the plain 'took over an hour' used at both 6.5 and 7.0.这是一个生动、拟人化的动词选择('swallowed'),用来描述交通是如何耗尽出行时间的,比6.5分和7.0分中都用的平实的'took over an hour'更具独特性。
    • GRAthat's only a good thing if infrastructure and public spaces keep pace with the population, otherwise quality of life simply erodesThis sentence uses the precise verb 'erodes' at the end, following the conditional structure with an explicit 'otherwise' clause spelling out the consequence, a more complete and literary construction than the run-on 6.5 version or the truncated 7.0 version, both of which omit this final consequence clause in its fullest form.这句话在结尾用了精准的动词'erodes',紧跟在带有明确'otherwise'从句的条件结构之后,把后果说得清清楚楚,比6.5分那种拖沓的版本或7.0分那种省略了这个最完整形式的结尾从句的版本,是更完整、更具文学色彩的结构。
